Is it just me who feels that there are some stutterings when scrolling twitter and reddit? Tried forcing peak refresh rate but the issue still remains. Does anyone know how to fix the issue?
Network delays when loading posts and media can expose perceivable UI lag
Appears to be an Android 12 issue. I see it as well. I had an S21 ultra on Android 12 and it went from buttery smooth to exactly the same after the update.

Makes you wonder why there was a 3/4 year long beta test to begin with. Windows 11, Android 12, iOS 15, all major OS versions are bug riddled.
The S21 Ultra 120 Hz bug is a Samsung OneUI 4.0 ROM issue where the adaptive refresh rate drops to 60Hz as soon as the user lifts the finger BEFORE the scrolling animation is complete leading to a very visible jank, which can be fixed by forcing 120 Hz until next update which will fix the issue for Samsung 120Hz phones on OneUI 4.0
Code:
adb shell settings put secure refresh_rate_mode 2
Samsung is working on a fix for the 120Hz bug on Galaxy S21 units after the One UI 4 update
The bug prevents the phones from using their 120Hz screens to their full potential. Samsung is aware of the issue. The Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21...

Mi5s has sd 821 which can take any android games on high settings smoothly..
But my mi5s is lagging while pubg is on high graphics settings where mi5 running it on high setting smoothly
i am on miui 9.2.1.0 global
anyone else facing that problem?!
Some tips from miui forum:
1. Change your model to OPPO (maybe R11s or others), in build.prop or with xposed module. It was said to work in games from tencent
2. Flash an LOS/aosp rom
3. Remove the temperature control file: http://en.miui.com/thread-635457-1-1.html
Either of these was said to be working, but I never played big games like pubg

You have just proved me right you are missing context and you are giving info that is not relevant in thread regarding mi5s.
I read some reports of Google Pixel users, who have the same problem. They also run Snapdragon 821.
I can't apply hd settings. Any solution? I'm currently using pixel experience

if you follow the link:
" To delete the thermal-engine-8996.conf file you must be rooted your device and use X-plore file manager to go to /system/etc and find thermal-engine-8996.conf and delete it . REboot your phone to feel the beat"
It could be risky
I've experiemced the same problem here! Im using LineageOS, but previously using latest MIUI global stable rom. Unfortunately, using miui, playing pubg is really laggy most of the times. I tried to flash Lineageos 15.1, sadly the lag in pubg still exists and even worse! Roatating the character flickers. I haven't experience that much lag with some other games using my mi 5s. Hope this is only a game/software issue though

exynos laggs....on SD 835 it works fluently
Based on my experience with the game on a high-end PC, I think the game is simply badly optimized. It also runs quite bad on fast PCs.

Not so much. I am using the latest MIUI Global rom.
It runs ultra smooth on the Oneplus 5T, but on the Mi5s sometimes it lags, I was thinking on flashing LOS to the Mi5S but seems that it doesn't matter it still lags its really annoying
Anyone here experience frame rate drop or lagginess when viewing recents on Android Pie? Seems to be ok when its a couple apps but it starts becoming laggy once i have several apps opened. Never had this issue on Oreo.
Did a fresh reset, working smoothly now.
Is there currently a way to have Chrome take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate? While I have 120Hz selected on my S20+ I noticed Chrome scrolling wasn't as smooth as in other apps.
Going to https://testufo.com/ confirms my observations as it reports 60Hz. It does work properly in the Samsung browser despite giving stutter warnings.
Weird, testufo is reporting 120Hz on Chrome for me.
S20+, ATBM, all current.

Are you using the main version of Chrome or Chrome beta? Main version here
Edit - While I've noticed scrolling smoothness issues in Chrome before, I force closed the browser and re-launched it and it's working. I'll see if it's just an intermittent thing or something
Haven't had it drop down to 60Hz in Chrome, but scrolling is still really bad! Might just stick with the Samsung browser or something at this point (I like the layout of the Edge browser, but there's too many issues with it otherwise)
I have to say that I prefer the Samsung browser anyway: It has a good dark mode and it supports ad blocking plugins. But that is a personal preference.

I just might try it out - as long as 1Password works with it (I'll check)
Update - yes it does! Now to install the Chrome bookmark sync extension on my desktop. Thanks!
Update 2 - scrolling performance is even worse on the Samsung browser! Guess I'll just have to live with this issue for now.
Sometimes when the phone is too hot, it will change back to 60Hz and may have the significantly lags.
I've also experieced the same problem after I do the wireless charging and the back of the phone got so hot, and the chipset (Exynos) got thermal throttling. The phone became very laggy and when I checked with screen info, it went down to 60Fps.
Unless my eyes are tricking me, Firefox seems to be showing me 120hz smoothness? Tried a few different sites to check. Got a few extensions installed, too.
I was using MIUI 12.0.5 Android 10 and watching YouTube and Twitch at 1080P60 flawlessly, and MIUI12 Android 11(RCOMIXM) came out and watching YouTube and Twitch in this version seems stuttery and it can't handle 60FPS without stuttering,I mean it's noticeable if you're paying attention and if you are not sure try run a benchmark play "Big Buck Bunny" and look at those Trees and Waterflows it stuggles to run at 60 even though it showing at stats for nerds it didn't drop frames....I tried Miui 12.5 eu rom their latest and does the that problem too, well what do you think? Is it Android 11 problem?
I think I'm still sticking to MIUI 12.0.5 Android 10 until someone gives me a fix for this issue
My poco f3 stutter really bad when scrolling, its happening almost on every apps, except facebook. Im using stok rom MIUI 12.5.5, rooted. This is the example when im using twitter app.

Yes, 120Hz enabled
Since it is smooth on Facebook it is not a hardware issue. Try the following and post screenshots
Enable Developer options. Navigate to Settings > About > Build number and tap on Build number seven times.
Profile GPU rendering; tap on that and choose “On screen as bars”.

Are you able to collate the judders with the spikes in GPU rendering?
I sometimes notice judder when viewing a webview even at 120 Hz.
To help you diagnose, is Samsung Browser smooth while scrolling?

Samsung browser is smooth when im scrolling, but sometimes its stuttering, but not very often. In twitter app, stutter is really bad.
That proves my observation. I noticed that your temperatures are under control at 36
If Samsung Browser is smooth then I think its the webview renderer that is the problem.
As to why twitter app stutters so bad could be because it uses webview to render tweets
Try updating to the latest webview or the latest canary build for bromite or chrome webview
A fix that worked for me is to set the refresh rate to 60Hz , clear the app data from the performance and battery app and then set the refresh rate back to 120Hz
So, i tried geekbench, and running compute benchmark (opencl and vulkan), I think the score is very low, even lower than my Huawei Nova 5t phone. First pict is my poco scores, the second is my Huawei scores.
