Is there any app that can show ambient display always on only when we have a notification waiting our attention?
Samsung have it's display always on, there are several apps that do that, but that I don't want.
OP5T have Ambient Display that only lights up when we tilt the phone, than screen turns off again, I want a app that makes my screen Always of and just when I receive a notification it became always on in ambient display until I dismiss or view the notification(s).
The approach of OP is, we have to tilt phone to screen wake up, it's a kind of battery saving, but if I have my phone in hands and be moving, some times the screen lights up unnecessarily, and if is resting in secretary I have to raise it up to show ambient display.

I feel you on this one. Just moved over to OP5T from a Moto X 2014 Pure (and it still works pretty good!) and had become used to the "breathing" notifications with the AMOLED display and hand wave over proximity sensor to show ambient notifications. There is actually a tweak to this aspect in the Omni ROM that just released with Android 8, although it may not be stable enough for daily driving. Will be nice when the settings drill down into this area.
Good morning. I had a S8 and always on display light was very visible. Now i have s9 and the light is very low, like lg g6 and g7, but those phones are not amoled! can anyone tell me from where setting menu can i adjust? the light of display is set as automatic, i hope there is a separate menu for aod....
thanks
Settings > Lock screen > Always on display > Auto brightness
thanks, did, but confirm it is more low than galaxy s8?
This is the S9 forum
i speak about s9 phone... is the aod brightness very poor or is a my phone problem??
in this forum many users, like me had both phone and my answer is for a paragon with s8 but i speak about s9
but is possible that with auto brightness the notifications icons of always on display are almost invisible??? is this a problem not solvable? i never saw a super amoled display aod so unreadble.
what can we do?
EDIT:
the problem is the notification icons coloured. is possible to make the same colour of time? infact in galaxy s8 this problem was not there....
The collored Icons are a feature in Android Pie. Now the brightnes of the Icon depends on the App
When I use my 3XL with Android Auto, the display just turns off and I can't see the notifications. I thought that's just the way Android Auto worked, but I recently got an S10+ and it keeps the display on and shows notifications while Android Auto is running. Is there any way to configure it to do the same on the Pixel 3XL?
My Pixel 2XL and 3XL have always been fully off when in Android Auto on my car. The screen goes black and shows Android Auto for a few seconds but then shuts off. Not sure if there is a way to override it, thinking the S10 does it because of something Samsung changed.

That's what I was thinking as well. All my Pixels have always behaved like that, so I figured that's just the way it is. My S10+ made me wonder if it was possible to configure it otherwise, but I doubt it.
I upgraded from a S8+ to a S20+. While connected to Android Auto via USB my S8+ would display the Always On clock. My S20+ does not, the display is off. Is there a setting to get this back? I like to use my phone as a clock while driving.
Hi guys.
On OOS11 I love the AOD that was a fake always on LoL.
It just turned on only when a new notification accours.
No on OOS12.1 it is almost a real AOD that turn on everytime you move your phone. I just hate this I don't want that my phone turn on everytime I walk or I pick it up.
Is there a way to have AOD only on new notification?
Thanks
Im having the same issue, any clue so far?
