I knew I shouldnt of done it. Its just my luck.
Tonight I installed the R112.....V8-R851T02-LF1R112 CFW posted a few days back.
Previous to this I had V8-R851T02-LF1V453.018444 (stock)
Install went fine. Booted up, I went through set up. I enabled developer options and enabled adb. My phone could not find the tv to sideload anything so I restarted the TV. Powered down, then back on. But flickering every few seconds along with the white light on the bottom.
The bottom doesn't work for anything. I found if I unplug it and plug it back in then immediately hold down the button the light will start flashing like its installing a firmware. I tried to reinstall the one I previously mentioned. It blinked for a bit but then back to the same flickering on and off.
No help expected, anything GREATLY appreciated.
I tried to include as much info as I could.
Thanks
First, R112 is not for your TV.
If you can enter TV setting , reflash firmware by "Local update" with V458 OTA file ,posted here:

Hello Stasiof, Thanks for replying.
I fell asleep last night waiting for the file to transfer to USB.
This morning before work, I unzipped all files onto the root of a FAT32 USB stick, put it in, started the TV holding down the button. It flashed like it was updating, but very briefly. I would say about 15 seconds. And nothing afterward. A blank screen still. Was I not supposed to unzip?

Hello, everyone.
My Kindle Fire is rooted and running stock version 6.3.1. It had been working well for about a month.
This evening I plugged it into the wall charger while having dinner and watching the game. I came back after the game, about three hours later, and saw that the LED was still yellow. Oddly, it should have been green by that time. Unplugging it, I saw that the battery hadn't charged at all. This seemed really odd, so I shut it down by holding the power button until I saw the dialog box asking if I wanted to shut it down.
I waited a few moments after shutting down and tried to start it again. First I saw the familiar blue and white screen I've seen since rooting it (side note: is this the current FireFireFire logo?) with v1.4a then it went to the yellow and white splash screen and remained stuck there for a good five minutes.
Something seemed really wrong, so I leaned on the power button for twenty seconds and tried booting again with the same result.
I tried plugging it into the computer to see what KFU says. It reported that the Fire is in bootmode 4000 (normal).
I've got a backup made about ten days ago with TWRP, but I moved it from the SD card and onto the computer. If I can't get the Fire running again, do you think I might yet be able to restore from this backup?
Yes, 1.4a is the latest FFF and it sounds like something is wrong with your system software.
Restoring from your backup might be a good idea. You can use FFF's recovery selection to get back into TWRP (I'm guessing this is your recovery). If you aren't familiar with how to do this... Start up your device and watch the power button LED. As soon as it goes from bright to dim, press the power button again (sometimes it takes a few presses) and a selection menu will appear on the display. Press and release repeatedly to scroll through the options until recovery is selected and then wait.... it will boot into recovery.
Use the "Mount" feature to get to mount it on your computer and transfer the backup onto the device. You should then be able to restore your backup.
Thank you! Yes, I'm using TWRP for recovery. Never thought I'd actually need it. I'll give it a try tonight.
I think I'll change my username to "flabbergasted." You can call me that. The Fire is working again.
Thank you, kinfauns, from the bottom of my heart for your help with this and your excellent guide, Kindle Fire For Beginners.
As you suggested and instructed above, I booted into TWRP recovery (version 2.1.1) and selected the Mount feature. This caused an Autoplay dialog box to open on my Win7 desktop with an option to Open Folder to View Files (Using Windows Explorer). Selecting this option opened a window displaying the contents of the SD card. I thought wrongly that I was going to have to push the files using adb.
Navigating to the folder in which I placed the backup folder (in this case named "2012-06-08--19-15-36" which I surmise is the date and time of the backup), I cut and pasted the entire folder to the window showing the contents of the SD card under the filepath:
Removable Disk G:\TWRP\Backups\0000000000000000\2012-06-08--19-15-36
I then carefully disconnected the Fire and used Unmount before returning to the main menu to use the Restore feature. Here's where something weird happened. TWRP didn't show the backup set I had just copied onto the SD card. I had to power down and reboot before Restore displayed that backup set. Restoration itself took a couple of minutes.
I then used the System option under Reboot to restart the Fire, having found that if you use the Power Off option, it will subsequently continue to boot into recovery. It booted into the home screen as I had left it about ten days ago.
The Fire is now charging.
Hi all,
I am rooted and was trying to update to latest update. I have enabled the update. It is downloaded. When I go to system menu and press select to update "Your Amazon Fire TV is Powering Off" comes one, but the FTV never powers off or reboots. I have to unplug it and restart manually. When it restarts, it does not install the update. I have tried to manually update with final command of 'adb recovery reboot', but the FTV does nothing. I have tried to use the unbrick method to reinstall stock or even get to reset default settings, but when I press alt + prt scr + i multiple times, on the fourth or fifth restart/try it just says no signal on the tv, but the FTV led light are on. slowly dimming and brightening forever. (I've left it this way overnight to see). It never gets to recovery. I've reset to factory default in the main menu, but that did not help. I'm not sure what to do from here. I'd like to reflash with stock software and restart from the beginning but I can't seem to get to that point. Can anyone help me?
Maybe try the script in the development thread
i have the tv on its launch firmware 5.2.5.0, and it is pretty buggy.
this tv has pretty much zero dev work going on, so it has a locked bootloader, no recovery, ect.
it has been rooted (kingroot) and had updates disabled.
i reenabled the updates (unblocked from router and fixed build number).
it downloads the update and tries to install it, but it is still on 5.2.5.0 when it reboots.
i tried factory resetting before and after i removed root. (which doesn't remove or restore anything aside from making me put my account back in)
anyone have any ideas?
maybe someone can tell me how to pull a logcat when trying to install the OTA?
well, alright then.
Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same issue...still stuck on 5.2.5.0
I have the same issue with my Element TV stuck at 5.2.5.0
Based on this link it should be at 5.2.6.2 http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-fire-tv-fire-tv-stick-software-update-history/
I need to figure out how to manually update the TV...any ideas?
To manually install a software update on your Element 4K Ultra HD Smart TV - Amazon Fire TV Edition:
1. From a computer, click the following link:
w w w. amazon. c o m /television-update
A .zip file named “firetvedition_update.zip” will download automatically.
2. Open the .zip file and extract the enclosed files by right-clicking the file and selecting “Extract All,” then following the prompts. (On a Mac, double-click the .zip file to extract the files.)
3. Next, plug a USB storage device into your computer with at least 4MB of available memory. If you’re already using a USB storage device with your TV to view photos or play music or videos, then this same device should also work for the software update. (The USB device must be FAT32 formatted.)
4. The USB storage device will appear as a removable drive on your computer. Drag and drop or copy and paste the files directly onto the USB device, making sure not to put them in a subfolder. Once the files have been copied, you can eject the USB device to safely disconnect it from your computer.
5. Unplug any external devices from your TV, then unplug the TV’s power cord.
6. Plug the USB stick into either USB port on your TV, then plug in the power cord for the TV. The TV will turn on by itself and begin installing the update. It will reboot during this time. Be sure to keep the TV and USB stick firmly plugged in. If prompted, press the power button on the front of your TV to finish the reboot process.
After your TV has rebooted, your software update is complete. You may remove the USB stick and reconnect any external devices. Your TV should download any future software updates automatically.
Unfortunately, my tv still doesn't boot up from the flash drive.
I have tried 5 different flash drives of different sizes.
I am going to write that image file using rufus on a flash drive and see what happens.
Maybe this will bypass having to mount it?
Anyone have any ideas?
I followed the steps and was able to boot from USB, but it didn't help much. (see the pictures attached)
Then I tried again to boot up but this time didn't boot at all from USB...no clue why.

My usb only booted once but my controls were not working, so I restarted and I could never get it to boot off the usb again.
This tv will probably have to be rooted since I get permission denied on everything.
I was hoping maybe to copy the upgrade img somewhere on to the tv and maybe execute it from there.

Damn good news!!!
I finally got the damn thing upgraded, and no thanks to Amazon or Element.
They were both useless and kept sending me back and forth between support for both companies.
This is how you were able to break the Ouya console startup process when booting and it works for Element Fire TV's as well.
So it's a bit of a hit or miss, but I am pretty confident it will work if your patient.
1. Download the following file and put it on a USB stick
http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-fire-tv-fire-tv-stick-software-update-history/
Search for: Version 5.2.5.1 (Build 577224220) and download that file
Throw it on a flash drive formatted Fat32
2. Connect a usb keyboard to your Element Fire TV
3. Turn of your Element TV by pulling the power plug, wait 5 seconds and turn it back on with the remote.
4. As soon as you see the element logo start tapping on your "Left alt", "I "(key) and "Print Screen" at the same time. This will cause a break and restart the system. You will do this several times continuously every time you seem the Element logo. The TV should reboot about 3-4 times, so you should see the Element logo 3-4 different times while tapping the key combination. At some point you will see a screen that reads updating.
5. The first time you come across the updating screen wait 5 minutes and if the progress bar does nothing, it is frozen/stuck. Once again, "Left alt", "I"(key) and "Print Screen" at the same time and it will restart. Once again you will see the Element logo and repeat the key combo routine.
You will then see the 2nd upgrade screen and you should see the progress bar moving and it should complete this time around.
Notes:
Never restart if it is updating and you see the progress bar moving or your usb is flashing.
Please reply with any questions, successes or failures.
Good luck!

Well, I somehow managed to update to 5.2.5.1. I used a combination of the methods that @Poopiepants74 described in post #5 and post #10. I used post #5 to get to the boot menu, and then I was running into the same error message that @fbuzila had in post #6.
So, I left the TV at the boot menu, removed the USB stick, downloaded and added the 5.2.5.1 update file to the USB stick, put the USB stick back in the TV and continued with the steps to "update from USB", which was successful.
Now my TV has been on 5.2.5.1 for 48 hours and has not attempted to update to a newer version. When I check manually through the settings, it says there is no update available.
I will give it a week or so to see if it 'checks in' and tries to update it its own.
still stuck on 6.2.6.0 here. can't find a newer package to download anywhere*sigh*
20 days later...still hasn't updated. I remain on 5.2.5.1 still.
Anyone know where to manually download the latest Fire OS 5.2.6.7 for Fire TV Edition 1 (Element) Edition? I am still stuck on 5.2.5.1. Since I was able to manually update to 5.2.5.1 I'd like to attempt to manually update to the latest 5.2.6.7
Please follow these troubleshooting steps to get the issue resolved.
@ Power off the device
@ Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
@ Hold down the return button on the TV (on the bottom bezel, next to the power button) and plug in the TV
@ When on the 'Amazon system recovery' screen, release the return button on the TV
@ Using the volume down button on the bezel of the TV, move down to 'wipe data/factory reset' option
@ Press the power button on the bezel of the TV to select ‘wipe data/factory reset’
@ Using the volume down button on the bezel of the TV, navigate to the “Yes” option
@ Press the power button to select “Yes” with the power button
@ Select “reboot system now” with the power button
Please go through the steps and see if that fixes your TV issue.
The only available update to the Fire OS, I have been able to find online is this one:
https://www.amazon.com/television-update
release-margo-54.5.7.2
Build TIME : 2017-06-24 09:27:46
FireOS 5.2.5.1
The latest version Fire OS 5.2.7.0 is nowhere to be found on the internet.
Unfortunately, some apps like Bravo do not seem to work with 5.2.5.1.
I will be contacting Amazon and see if any updates are available.
So after contacting Amazon, they sent me a link to their source files.

So if you have this issue you need the recovery pill file and not just an update.
The recovery file will contain the MstarUpgrade.bin file.
Here is 5.2.6.8 straight from Element.
A quicker way to get into the Recovery menu without a keyboard.
Disconnect the power cable from the wall for 20 seconds, while holding down the power button.
Plug the TV back in and it will turn on automatically.
Immediately hold down the input button which is right next to the power button (Pictured as a Box with an arrow), until you hit the recovery menu.
Select upgrade from USB and you should be set.
It's not recognizing my signature file, so hopefully I will here from them soon to resolve my issue.

Same. Doesn't recognize for me either...
Good news Element pushed an update which my TV was able to install.
5.2.7.1 is out and it worked for me.
The TV just prompted me out of the blue to install this update and it successfully completed.
Hello,
I have a tv TCL 55DP660, motherboard is MT58CU (40-mt58cu-mab4hg).
I am stuck at loading screen and nothing works for me, after I entered developer options and turned on Debug mouse setting, my tv restarted and was in forever looping state.
What I tried
1) turning the power off
2) inserting usb stick with file in root (V8-T658T01-LF1R579.pkg) tried with multiple version, all produced same result, as well with .zip extension
3) Holding down power button on tv
4) Plugging into electricity
5) screen shows TCL logo static
6) after 10 seconds, it show "TCL" logo animated
7) and then it showns loading and gets stuck there forever.
Also tried opening my tv, and taking a loot at motherboard, but could find a reset jumper, or reset pin to short circuit.
The only thing I found was MCU_RST name on a back of the board, but it was only a single filled hole and nothing around it. So was wondering to which connection do I short circuit it so it would do a factory reset for me? or is there another way?
Thank you!
Try V574 pkg file....unzip to "Update.pkg"

Hey guys, I am new to the Android TV scene so bear with me. Recently bought TCL C6 TV. It updated yesterday to Android Oreo but the Color accuracy especially in HDR has fallen considerably, constant dimming of backlight for no reason and not to...

Just tried it.
Formated usb with fat32, and put inside root "Update.pkg" file.
Unplugged tv -> inserted usb (tried twice with both slots) ->started holding power button -> plugged tv -> tv started loading showing static TCL logo -> after 10 seconds it booted as if normal and was stuck on loading screen forever.
Maybe change USB ?

hi, 1 question...

Hi,

i already tried light on the the with the remote control and nothing.
somebody help?
there is any other solution to flash de mainboard?
thanks
2 days ago I came back to my Fire TV Stick 4k only to find black screen with "loading..." letters in corner, and at that moment pressing home button did nothing, seemed that remote isn't working at first or device froze.
3 Hours before that I has using device, and only thing I did i power toggled it 3 times in few seconds using power button on remote (don't ask why it irrelevant now)
After I power toggled the device, and after "Fire TV" logo it stated that it can't find my remote. So i changed fresh batteries, tried to resync remote to device and all other stuff, but nothing helped. So I decided to try my remote on another device, and concluded that remote is perfectly fine and connects to other device without problems, and that it's nothing wrong with it.
At the same time it baffled me that device didn't load home screen after boot, just notification that it cant find remote and black screen after that.
Later I discovered that remote is in fact working (built in firmware restore functions and menu that is accessed by long pressing home button for few seconds).
So I decided to do factory reset by pressing key combination.
Factory reset menu came up, and after I pressed "OK" nothing happened, device didn't reboot.
Pressed key combo again, and let the timer for factory reset count down to zero.
When it came to '1' it froze.
Pressing key combo again factory reset menu would come again and do countdown from start.
I can also invoke menu accessed by pressing home button for few seconds, but what ever I choose from there it freezes, but if I press home button again it opens same menu again and move left-right and even enter "profiles", so it's not frozen, it just seems that it can't open any menu entry for some reason.
At he same time I can access it via wifi ADB and run ADB shell commands, so it is connected to wifi that has internet access.
I tried running "adb reboot recovery", device reboots, comes up with Fire tv logo and "no command" on screen.
It sits there for a minute and after it reboots and goes into normal boot.
I also tried "am start -n com.amazon.tv.launcher/.ui.SettingsActivity" folowing "am broadcast -a com.amazon.tv.intent.action.MASTER_CLEAR" but no avail.
it states "Broadcast completed: result=0" and that is it.
How do I factory restore / flash firmware, whatever ?
I will take any suggestion before tossing it into bin, because I think memory got corrupted somehow and device is processing and executing fine.
Edit 1 :
Safe mode method using USB keyboard on OTG cable doesn't work. Tried ctrl+alt+menu+prtscr+i several times, it invokes nothing.
Edit 2 :
Tried rooting using shorting to ground exploit, but it doesn't work since serial number of device is too high thus bootloader locked.
Edit 3:
I can see all the installed packages over ADB and uninstall ony of them normally.

Thank you for suggestion. The main question is how do I format USB stick to Android "internal memory" if I don't have Xiaomi 4K stick, like you mentioned in your original post ?
I have another working Fire Stick 4k, and have formatted USB stick using that device, but since Fire Stick 4k uses Fire OS 6, and possibility to format USB stick to "internal memory" is a feature of Fire OS 7, I don't think it will work.
At the moment I just formatted this stick using Fire OS 6, connected using OTG to malfunctioned stick, I can see Fire TV accessing it few times on boot (LED flashes), but after boot I don't see any activity. I will let it sit for a few hours.
