Question Launch Google Assistant with Home Button - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Anyone know how to activate the Google Assistant by holding the home button with 3-button navigation. I've been able to do that for years on my Pixel 3, but I can't seem to find that setting on the Pixel 6 Pro.

Not exactly a reply to your question as such, but perhaps you could use the quick tap to launch Google assistant or long press power menu. Whilst not the home button these are the two ways I'm aware of.
If you're rooted there may be another way via Gravitybox but unsure of A12 is supported so the A11 version may not work properly/at all.....

Did your Pixel 3 still have that ability after Android 12? I would guess they took it out with that update since they added holding the power button. There's still the swipe from the bottom corners option too.

Sadly my Pixel 3 got the Black Screen of Death three weeks before Android 12 was release.

Sorry to hear that. So from what I can tell, with 3-buttons, it looks like they want those users to do the hold power button. The corner gesture is only available with system gestures on.

Can't access settings in some apps

I recently went from Note 3 to Note 4, and then quickly took the Lollipop upgrade, so I don't know if this happened between models or between systems. But I now do not have access to the settings menus on some apps. The menu was previously brought up by the "button" to the left of the home button, but that now brings up recently opened apps. I don't see any way to get to app settings and there are no updates available - Palmary Weather Pro and Tecarta NIV Bible. They both worked fine on Note 3, but only access settings through that lower button, which is now used for something else. I'm hoping there's a solution, but I'm afraid it's collateral damage of new OS. Thanks for any ideas.

That button is now the Recent Apps button. Long press that button brings up menu usually and a lot of apps have three little dots in the upper right corner. That's the menu button for the app. This is a Note 4 thing. I know I'm having a terrible time breaking the habit of tapping that lower left corner button. I'll get used to it though.
Thanks very much! I had tried the 3 little dot thing, but did not know about the long press on the recent apps button. That brought up what I was looking for!
I've been using Android for a long time, but most of what I've learned is from xda, other forums, or youtube (in that order), and not from what I would have actually figured out for myself. Thanks again.

On vzn with Pie.......stuck with google button

Do I have to live with this G forsaken google button being active? I will actually use the assistant with the home button hold instead.
You can turn it off, search settings for shortcut. There are 3 options... Single, double, and long press. Each can be turned off independently, I'll bet there are also apps that can hijack the click to do something else, I could do that on my s8 at least.

Question OnePlus 9 Pro, Power Button Double Press

Hello,
When I press the power button once, it presses twice.
I read that other users have the same problem, and you ?
OnePlus 9 Pro, Power Button Double Press
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
I don't, yet
Did it happen right out of the box ?
A few weeks after
Mine does the same and support just wanted to flash my device
Had same problem, so I disabled this option.
Haven't tried with the newest oxygen though.
This has been happening to me as well and I was able to Mitigate it temporarily (it seems to be coming back slowly) by disabling and re-enabling the Gesture (settings -> buttons & gestures -> Double Click the power button -> camera)
I am on Oxygen 11.2.8.8.LE15BA on my unlocked tmobile 9pro -- using omega 5.4.61
This started happening recently to me too and honestly I don't think OnePlus are even going to fix it when I RMA it... I'll probably just pick up the Pixel 6 Pro and then RMA/sell it after

Question I no longer seem to be able to call up Google Assistant with the home button

After a handful of weeks with my Pixel 6 Pro I'm still getting the hang of getting my phone back to the way I like it. I re-enabled the buttons at the bottom of the screen for a variety of reasons. The biggest one being that for me gestures are kind of difficult due to some problems with my hand. But now, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to press and hold the home button to get Google Assistant pop up. I don't want to do it with the power button and I've already disabled all that. I'd like my tried and true home button functionality. I know this works because my pixel 3 XL with Android 12 still had it. I just can't figure out how to get it re-enabled. Can anybody tell me what I'm missing in the settings?
Yep I don't want the power button either and the home button on 3 dot navigation is not either lol, Rather odd considering Google is heel bent on their smart assistant and yet it doesn't work with the home button.

Question Home button for assistant?

Does anyone know how to get the 'hold home button for assistant' option back?
I really miss this handy feature that worked on my Google pixel 3XL. Holding power button is no where near as useful and now home button does nothing at all.. a wasted button.
I've been trying to find a a root module but not having any luck

Under "gestures" in settings, I have double tap back of phone to activate google assistant. Also with Nova Launcher Prime you can assign different gestures for different app shortcuts. IE. I have swipe up for camera, double tap screen to turn off screen. etc..
Gesture Plus (app)
I'm in the same boat... I have the phone set to double tap the back for assistant, but every so often (far too often), double tapping the back doesnt do anything and so i have to look up the assistant app. Its really annoying, gonna try nova launcher settings, if that dont work, i dunno... I'm considering going back to my OnePlus 8 Pro, this phone has been failing me badly with its lag spikes, features not working, and other issues. Camera's amazing though!
