Hello. Recently, i dropped my phone so unluckily that screen is completely broken and display is completely black and touch doesn't work as well. The point here is i want to back up my data. I found i can stream my screen over HDMI to the TV.
But the catch here is i see only lock icon on TV and unless i unlock the phone with the pattern, i'm unable to see contents of screen.
Can i somehow bypass this lock icon so i can see contents even on locked screen?
PS: as i wrote in title, i know unlock pattern but it is useless unless i can enter it into the phone somehow.
I also found ADB command that can simulate input via coordinated but it need to have debug mode on (which i have i believe) but also need agree that this PC can use ADB commands on this device. Unfortunately, i didn't check the "remember me" box.
Any ideas how could i do this?
You can easily connect a mouse with a usb-c to usb-a adaptor.
I just tried to connect my trusty Logitech G9x to the 7t and it immediately worked.
Edit:
I guess you need the USB c port for the HDMI but there are plenty of dongles that support both hdmi and usb
Another idea is to enable over adb the setting in developer mode/show taps
So then you can see roughly on the tv where you are tapping
Hope this helps
have you found the solution ?

My niece has a Fire TV box that worked well until she moved recently. She lost her remote in the move, and went from a hard-wired ethernet to wireless connection (no idea if that matters). I told her that she could use a keyboard to navigate from the home screen (which wouldn't fully load because she doesn't have an internet connection) and set up her wireless connection using the keyboard, and then from that point she could use her smartphone to control the FireTV. The only problem is that she cannot get her external, wired keyboard to respond on the FireTV. Thinking she was just doing something simple incorrectly, I brought her FireTV to my house (I have one as well) and I plugged it in at my place. I have wired internet, and so the home screen did load at that point, but I tried my wired keyboard and I also could not get it to respond. I would just give her my remote and use my phone to control ours, but I can't get to any screen where I could program my remote to work with hers.
Any suggestions? I think it's pretty unlikely that both wired keyboards are bad, and although I don't think she's ever used the USB port I would think it's pretty unlikely that the port is bad too. Is there a way to do a factory reset without actually having a remote or keyboard?
Thanks!
Try an active USB hub between the keyboard and the aTV. Probably the wired keyboards do need more power (or to much for the aTV) in comparision with a wireless keyboard. If the keyboard is illuminated try switching the lights off to minimize the power consumption.

OK, I think I figured out the issue, but still not sure how I'll fix it. I couldn't get the keyboard to work with my Fire TV also, so I started playing around, and it looks like under Settings/Developer Options/USB debugging it was selected as "on". When I selected "off" the keyboard started working without any extra hubs or anything of the sort.
So here's my issue; how the heck do I get to the "USB Debugging" screen to turn this off without a keyboard or remote? I can't seem to work through that in my head unless there's a way to do a factory reset without a keyboard/remote/smartphone, set up my remote to work with hers, disable usb debugging and then give it back to her and then re-set the remote to work with my firetv. Thoughts?
I figured out a workaround, as shown here:
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-remotely-control-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-via-adb/
Luckily for me I had a hard-wired ethernet connection and adb debugging was enabled so I was able to figure out the IP address of the Fire TV and adb connect into it using my laptop, and then, very slowly, use the adb commands to scroll down and disable the "USB debugging" so that a keyboard would work. From here I think (hope) she can use a keyboard to set up her wireless network and then from there she can use her smartphone as a remote.
Learn something new every day!
Last week my girlfriend got upset and her HTC screen met the dashboard in the car rendering it shattered and unusable. I have been searching for a way to mirror the screen to either my PC (win 10) or my TV so that I can navigate around the phone to save different things as well as connect a bluetooth watch so that she can see who is calling and texting. Through my online research I have found ways to do it but I need to have "usb debugging" enabled on the phone, which it is not. I am hoping that someone here may have a recommendation so that I can either screen mirror to the TV without being able to access anything on the phone via the screen or a way to activate the usb debugging so that I can use a PC app to access the phone remotely. Appreciate any and all feedback!
Okay so my pixel XL hit the ground the other day and the screen is black and wont register any inputs but the phone still works (usb charges, can hear sms and call tone/vibration and fingerprint reader works)
USB debugging is not active
bootloader is locked
phone is the latest OTA update (oreo 8.1.0 or something)
pin lock and fingerprint are active, i know the pin and the fingers mine obviously.
so the good part is, i can easily get into fastboot mode!!
before i go out and buy a replacement screen, i want to be able to remote desktop into the phone and make sure everything else is working
i have read that people have been able to modify some files and flash to the phone to enable usb debugging, and use twrp to disable the pin lock etc.
Really im just looking for the best path on how to do remote desktop or control the phone.
ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY USEFUL !!
I have a MATE 20 X which I broke the screen and its completely blAck and cant see anything.
I do however have a facelock, pattern lock and also fingerprint lock but It seems as if the face and pattern lock are not working as I do not get any vibrations or anything at all.
My question is when you have any type of lock on the phone and you connect it via HDMI will I be able to see the Main screen so I can put the pattern?
I do not have an HDMI Adapter but would like to know this before going and buying one
I also cant via USB as I need to accept USB DEBUGGING but I can no longer see anything at all on my screen.
Hi all,
If anyone can help, I'd be very happy! My son dropped his g60s and smashed the display, we can't use it. We can see a small live portion of the screen, but barely visible. We can unlock the lockscreen but can't really do much else as we can't see or touch the screen to select anything.
I would like to recover images/videos if possible. No SD card, and USB Debugging is turned off. Totally stock out of the box phone.
Any ideas please? Googling a solution is not proving very successful.
Thank you in advance.
(I'm a little out of touch with Android, sorry - I used to be regular on here but have not posted on XDA for a while!)
Hi again.
I'm aware of random post etiquette and that this may appear illegitimate or potentially looking for assistance to beach security, so I'm attaching my proof of purchase for ref., and a pic of the damaged display.
I can also get past the screen lock now by attaching a keyboard to enter the pin. But I can't set to allow USB connection as opposed to charge only when I connect the cable, and I certainly can't navigate to developer settings to allow recovery software.
The best option for you if you want to extract data from the mobile is to use one of the usb-c to hdmi adapters with extra usb.
That way you should be able to connect your or in this case your sons phone to the display and connect a mouse to use it as a pointer and to unlock the phone if its password/pin locked.
Usually there might be prompt asking you if you want to connect it to tv, but it might just connect automatically.
Just recently i have purchased exactly the same phone for my mom i can check it for you if you can connect it directly to other display without adding
Yes, search for a USB-C to non-MHL HDMI because the regular USB-C to HDMI dongle does not work. Somthing like this. This will let you do screen mirroring on TV and copy the contents
