Just to let you know -
I have spent last 2 hours trying to figure out with an amazon appstore helpdesk why I cannot see any apps I have purchased through this store. It was a crazy time and at the end I mentioned if it can be somehow android 12 oriented and that's what I got back:
Me: the device is on brand new android 12, it is a google device, can you check if there are known compatibility issues?
Amazon: Oh my bad. That did not cross my mind. There is an ongoing issue with Download/Access 3P Apps on Android 12 In UK/US. our team is currently working on it, I do not have an exact time, We are aware of the issue. Looks like the technical teams are also working on resolving the issue at the earliest.
I think I should stick to google play store next time. I have no access to any of the app purchased through amazon at least for now.

I've had exactly the same issue with my Pixel 5 since it upgraded to Android 12. Very frustrating.
I have managed to sideload the amazon appstore, but if I try and re-install any apps, I just get a message saying there is a purchase issue.
yeah there's bound to be compatibility issues with certain apps, particularly banking that don't work yet on 12.
Amazon works fine on my p6 pro. If your using adaway, whitelist *amazon* and boom your in.

I'm not using adaway or any ad block. And I can only see like eight apps in the entire Amazon app store right now, and it's missing most of my previous purchases.
I also spent over an hour on the phone with Audible support because that app is completely broken in android 12. Apparently no one in Audible support even knows what the Amazon app store is and kept telling me to use the play store.
Still, exactly same situation. No adblock whatsoever. No apps from Amazon works.
The problem is being worked on apparently at amazon https://www.amazonforum.com/s/quest...-appstore-not-working-after-android-12-update

they are aware of the issue at least for the last 2 weeks, but I think a bit more (I guess they had android 12 code way earlier than anyone else) and any for of contact with amazon helpdesk is ending up with absolutely nothing. amazon has a great customer service when it comes to shopping, but they have no idea when it comes to technical issues. I had to buy again few apps I need, this time from google store and they work great. of course I was told it is not their fault that my device and android version is not compatible with apps they sell. but again - it is not about compatibility of the apps they sell in amazon appstore, it is about their app is not working properly.

I love Overdrive and the service that it provides, but I find the interface a little difficult to use. If you are also frustrated with Overdrive, I've created an app to work as an overlay.
Currently its in the process of being approved on the Amazon App Store, but Google approved it in its Play almost 2 hours after I uploaded it.
Here is the Google Play link:

Its currently in review at the Amazon App Store, if you can't wait here is the APK to side load:

Thanks everyone for the interest! I'm hoping to single-handedly save libraries through that donation button.
I'm still working out a way to automate adding new cities, the cities currently in there were added manually.

Hey MayfairDROID,
Thanks for letting me know that there was a problem! Its tough because I don't have access to all the different devices.
I think it solved the issue and uploaded a fix for the sideloaded app. Check it out and see if it works.
Hopefully Mayfair comes back to this thread. Anyways, if anyone else had any problems with the sideload, please redownload it as I have updated the APK.
Wow!!! I just got it, the books I want are all in waiting list but the functionality is the bomb! Thank you so much!!!!!

Hey. When I first went to install through google play, I found it, but it said incompatible.device. I then attempted to sideload and got forced.closes. so I uninstalled and went back to play and this time it was available, and it works. Now I just need library logins

Anyone tried to add DNS record to hosts file to load Amazon Prime Instant Video?
Hi, I use the method provide by unlocator(d0t)com (set DNS server to their one).
Then use WireShark to capture DNS resolve packet, and found that some stream servers of Amazon is point to IP that is not the same as IP when resolved by Google DNS server. Hosts file (replace (d0t)):
---------------------------------------------------------
dl(d0t)dropboxusercontent(d0t)com/u/82869805/hosts
-------------------------------------------------------------
After add these to my /etc/hosts, I set DNS server to Google and reboot my computer. It works.
May be you got problem with flash player and have to reinstall Adobe Flash Player or Silver Light to play video -> this guide (replace (d0t)): www(d0t)howtogeek(d0t)com/204319/how-to-watch-amazon-instant-video-on-linux/
And you need to re-update your IP on Unlocator(d0t)com (you need to register a free account on Unlocator(d0t)com, and login to update your IP to Unlocator(d0t)com) anytime your IP provided by ISP changed, this is MUST.
I'm not sure if it works for others.
Has anyone yet figured out how to either find or port the "NEW YouTube for Android TV 2.0" x86 APK to an ARM APK? We have waited over a year for a new version, yet its only for x86. It is disturbing that this new YouTube version is not available on the SHIELD TV almost immediately.

You've waited a year, you can wait some more. APKmirror is probably the place where it will show up first.

Yeah lets hope so. And no I didn't wait a year. I flashed Full Android on mine so I wouldn't have to wait for newer YouTube versions any more. It was the only reason I went to FULL Android because the Youtube for Android TV was really showing its age and crashing all the time. You pay a premium for a premium device, so you should expect a premium experience in return. Otherwise they are not doing their jobs.
What's interesting is that this youtube 2.0 UI is exactly how youtube looks like on my old and loud Xbox360!!

Yeah some say it looks like the HTML Smart TV version below. I'm not so sure until I actually see it on my SHIELD TV.
https://www.youtube.com/tv
So it can't be ported to arm format?
I have this new format on my Smart TV, and it may well do away with that crappy Red Bar that pops up when you try to pause on something. But that said, the new Layout sucks donky balls. And Google can take their sweet gentels with porting it to the Shield.
Though I have to say (Even given the decentralized nature), of my Smart TV), I'm kinda shocked the OEM has even botherd. Considering the TV was sold in 2015. And, picked up about a year ago on clearance. But it was hard to say no to a 50" 3D 4k LED set. Even if the Smart TV bits of it tended to also suck.

Good question. Maybe it is exclusive to the Nexus Player. Or they are just testing it on the NP before releasing it to 3rd party devices. Who knows? Without an official statement of what's going on we can only speculate. I guess Android TV must not be very big or as important of a platform to warrant updates.

Really I don't like very much this new version, I don't know about you, but the app crashes when you try to type anything on video search.
No crash for me
But option to change quality video is gone:crying:
The user reviews are in the toilet as well. I'm no longer in a hurry to try it. However I can't get last year's YouTube version to not crash either. It's easily the #1 most unstable app I use by far.

I updated it and hated it and immediately rolled back to the old one. My problem is I got 2 Youtube accounts associated with my Google account. My primary account I created about 10 years ago with all my subscriptions and the G+ one it forced me to create a few years back, which I don't use.
Under the old app, it allowed me to select the account I wanted to use:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Under the new account, it won't allow me to select the account I want, and only shows the G+ account saying my other account isn't available.
I downloaded and installed it and I hated it as well... There's no rolling text on the thumbnails so you have to open each video just to read the full title... no comments as well, no add to watch later no anything good... rolling back to the old version as this one sux.

New app is ugly and slow (everything seems to require more clicks to get there).
Besides the ability to select resolution being removed, many Sony TVs lost the ability to play 4k (they locked it to a max of 1440p).
This version is going to need some work.

Do we really believe Google will be working on it??? :/
Yeah, and not only that, when I updated to the new Youtube app it used my "original" Youtube account before Google bought them out. So hundreds of my subscriptions and all my proper recommendations were missing and I couldn't recognize my own Youtube channel. It was like starting all over again on Youtube from scratch. And worse still, it wouldn't even offer me the ONLY account I ever use, yes the same one I have been using every day since Google bought Youtube, it was completely missing as an account option.
So I was forced to reset back to the original Youtube app and it immediately offered me and connected to the proper account. Is it really this hard for a multi Billion dollar corporation such as Google to code these apps?
I sort of meant someone HERE might take a look under the hood.

I encourage you to contact them.
I did it over the weekend, and they asked for a short video and asked a few questions. They admitted that the issue lied on their end, as they selectively release updates to a small subset of devices/users to test issues before they go wider - think beta. I think the Pixel C got picked up in this beta and that they will roll out a fix shortly. I'd need to keep updating the app to wait for rectification.
Running Android O DP4, Netflix is working fine.
I upgrade to current Android O 8.0.0 and Netflix is scrambling some, but not all, videos, I get a fraction of a second of full screen then it goes scrambled. I downloaded latest from APK mirror, tried clear cache, clear data, uninstall reinstall, same problem. For example season 1 episode 1 of House of Cards.

I searched around to fix this myself, and seems I need to report it to NetFlix, but all the guides end up practically nowhere in reality. On the Pixel C Android NetFlix app there is no "report" button, I click to support and it goes to browser, which does not allow me to point to a video.
I can wait for this to be fixed, I have lots of non-NetFlix media I can watch.
Amazon Prime works fine! So seems, NetFlix buggy app on Pixel C is going to cause me to watch some Amazon Prime stuff instead.
I used to have the Netflix app on my Pixel C, but it is gone now. Additionally, it can't be installed from the play store. If I try to install it via the play store web app, when I select my Pixel C it says "Not compatible with this device."
It appears Netflix way of fixing the above problem was to disallow people from using Netflix on the Pixel C.
Hi everyone.
I'm faced with difficulties when I run Android TV remote control app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote) on my P6Pro. It appeared to behave like an obsolete app abandoned by its developer - it never opens fullscreen.

I really don't care about that and could live with it as the app works like it should until I leave it foreground and turn off the screen. As soon as I turn my screen back on my phone hangs up and there is no possibility to get to home screen or go back. It happens from time to time, not every time I use it. Power button just turns the screen on/off and my only option is to press power+volume up buttons to reboot the phone.
I remember I was able to adjust full screen behavior for my apps in the previous versions of Android somewhere in settings. Now that option has gone in A12.
Any ideas?

BTW, I just tried to open that link in chrome incognito mode
What's going on, Google? Is the app account-specific? Is it not available for everybody?
I just realized what the problem is. The app is really abandoned and it's obvious from my 2nd screen.
"Last updated April 4, 2017"
The reason I like it is an ability to enter login/pass details on my Android TV using my phone screen. This is the feature I was envious of iPhone users for its native integration into Apple TV.
Ok, RIP.
My only options are to get used to manual reboots or Force Stop the app after each use.
My understanding is that "Android TV Remote" is actually obsolete, and its functionality has been incorporated into "Google Home": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.chromecast.app
The standalone Android TV Remote app has been decommissioned by Google. The functionality has been moved to the Google Home app and is available as a Quick Settings tile

Not a glitch. Stop spreading misinformation. This is a perfect example of why half the complaints on this forum are bogus.
It is a frustrating change though in the very least, because who needs all the bloat of "home" when all you want is a remote control?
Anyway, I just ordered a couple of ADT-3's, which is the "developer" version of ccgtv. I'm tired of being locked out, and I don't give a flying f*** about netturds. Years ago I wrote a remote service for nexus player, which shouldn't be too hard to adapt to ADT-3.

Well, from Google's perspective, it is logical to have it as part of the Google Home app. Android TV/Chromecast is part of the Google Home (devices) ecosystem.
That being said, if you don't want to use the Google Home app, there is an alternative
Android TV Remote - Apps on Google Play
Unofficial Android TV / Google TV remote control. Simple, convenient, complete!

Thanks, I know there are several alternatives by other developers but I always do my best to go google Just figured out how to enable Open Remote button in Google Home app at 3 different android tv boxes I own - Shield Pro, Onn TV and Dynalink TV. I had to manually update Android TV Remote Service to v.5.
Now I've got almost the same features, at least I can still enter text remotely on my phone.
