Only possiblle on HTC`s with S-Off and unlocked bootloader afaik.
I have a lg g4 h812 and its unlock and on T-mobile now. Since it looks like the h811 and h812 have same hardware could I flash h811 firmware onto my h812?
you could always try to flash the first revision of the 811 firmware that is below 10H, i've tried on mine and got me into HardBrick. Got repaired for free.

What version did you flash that caused the hardbrick?
From my understanding you should never cross flash models. Some g4 varients could be differ. But rule of thumb never do it unless confirmed to work
I've successfully flash a 815 & 818 into my 812, but we have to reflash the modem file of the 812 original firmware to be able to obtain network (wifi work but quite laggy).
The 81110H is the firmware that i've tried to install (Phone wont reboot after upgrade and show off like 9008 device) . i don't know if we could modify a kdz for being able to inject directly the modem of the 812 into 815 rom...
Yes you can
I've made this tutorial but you have to change some thinks to use in your variant
PS: you will get some problems with your modem (dont work)
If you found how to get working

I based my tutorial in another one

i've seen it before but flashing the 811 kdz give me a hardbrick. If i flash 810 then 811 that could work but cannot try it right now.

And then with LG UP

Hello friend,
I am also thinking of flashing H815(international) rom onto my H812(Canadian) hardware. If you don't mind, could you please tell me how did the phone function with the H815 firmware?
Thank you very much. Your help is greatly appreciated.

you cannot use it for daily usage, the mobile network doesn't work and the phone will randomly reboot sometimes.

Ok thanks, I'm asking because I'm going on a long trip to UK and the Middle East for 6 or 7 months , and thought flashing the H815 firmware would make it compatible with those networks and therefore a free solution, rather than paying to have it unlocked.
Thanks

So by default, H812 has a locked bootloader. But despite this, the flashing of H815 firmware still worked?
If you read carefully all posts in most of the cited "how-to's" ...
If you read carefully all posts in most of the cited "how-to's" that have been linked in the responses you've gotten to date ... you will note that many problems are encountered, ranging anywhere from hard bricks down. Simply not worth the risk, IMO as there is not a high enough probability that you can get back to what you had originally that was working in the first place.

Ensure you backup EFS ! This stores many important data like the unlock setting. Normally you will not need to unlock again but just for the case I highly recommend to backup EFS. Go in my TWRP thread and read the FAQ to find out how you can backup the efs manually. You can do so with TWRP as well but use my latest beta to do so then.

Hi, I just got a LG G7. I'm from Italy and my G7 is TIM branded. So, I flashed a brandless firmware, but that prevents me from getting OTA upates. I can't even update with LG Bridge because my IMEI is for a TIM branded product. I have to use LG UP to manually update the phone, or flash TIM firmware again to get OTAs.
TIM Italy's G7 have an IMEI like like "355775092x", while brandless G7s have "3557750904x". Is there something wrong if I change my IMEI to 3557750904x and use random numbers after "x" to get updates like everyone? Would it even work?

Changing IMEI is illegal and the servers from LG know that the IMEI doesn't match the firmware. Thats why you can't update. Your choices are to continue updating with LGUP or go back to your firmware

It's not illegal in all countries. I wonder if I could use an IMEI that can receive updates without using LGUP isntead, but also without risking that my device is blocked or something.
I also don't understand why LG decided to block updates to people with IMEIs like mine. These devices contains apps from my carrier and some of them replaces what LG stock apps do. So, I wouldn't block someone trying to get LG apps and remove the carrier ones... whatever.

As long as the kdz your cross flashing is not a T-mobile kdz. You should be fine you will lose wifi calling and such.

Cool, thanks.
One last question I have is, can I update the software through the updater?
If not, when I do an "upgrade" option through LGUP, will it wipe my phone data, or will it be like any other update through the updater on the phone?
Lgup will wipe data. Going through the software update in the phone will keep data as long as you are on stock. If you are crossflashed to anther kdz software update in phone wont work. You need to manually update with lgup.
