Question Can't disable Lift To Wake - Google Pixel 6 Pro

The screen turns on when I lift the phone. (Black and white lock screen.)
"Lift to wake" and "Tap to Check" are both off.

We're guessing it's a bug (I know, that post was after yours). I'm sure most things will be fixed in software over time - until Google looses interest, that is.

I think it might have something to do with using fingerprint unlock. This was happening to me as well, then I deleted all my fingerprints and it is no longer happening. Not sure if it is a bug or a "feature" connected with fingerprint unlocking.

Hi all, I am having same problem with Pixel 6 and Android 12. As @Lughnasadh said removing fingerprint(s) problem is solved. It is really frustrating, if you are sitting and just holding your phone, small move would turn on the screen for no reason.

This is 100% to do with having a fingerprint setup on the phone

Enabling the AOD would help alleviate the problem without removing fingerprint(s).

I have AOD off and Lift to Check off with Fingerprints on. Working as intended.

Here is a workaround if people want to keep their fingerprint(s) but still disable Lift to Check (even when it's already disabled in your settings):
adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0

There is two option for Lift to check phone
1- lift to check black screen
2- lift to check wake up the screen
If you write this code:
adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0
you will disable the lift to check black screen
THE best settings for me to i keep lift black screen and i can control lift check wake up screen
first, you have to enable Lift to check phone from Settings - Gestures
then write this code to enable Lift to check phone
adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 1
then you can any time to control Lift to check phone ON/OFF

Anyone have Gravity Screen - On/Off working on the G4?

I have the Verizon LG G4 vs986 running 5.1 (10b) but I've been unable to get Gravity Screen - On/Off 2.3.1 to work as it's not turning the screen off. Does anyone have this working on the G4 and can you share your settings? Thanks!

Been using it since the beginning (and G3 as well). After removing Power Nap Alpha 0.7 working flawless. Have you enabled Administrative Permissions?
Yes, enabled that. Can you let me know how you have the settings for the program setup? I was able to get the screen to go off once when I first installed it but never could get the screen to turn on and I have the PIN enabled lock screen.

On
Any Direction = Check
Lying Face up= Check
Turn off by proximity = Check
Turn on by proximity = Check
Keep screen on by Motion = Check (sensitivity 70)
Booster = Check
Running During Call = Check
Notification = Check
Low Priority = Check
Start at boot = Check
I have the unlocked version so I also have some apps whitlisted
Device Administrator = Check (for both delayed lock and regular screen off permission, 2 separate)
All the rest I have UNCHECKED
Thanks! Think you covered everything except what do you have for the following settings:
Pocket Sensor Angle
Landscape mode
Table Sensor Angle
Turn Screen ON by Motion-Timeout
Turn Screen ON by Motion-Sensitivity
False Turn-On Protection in Pocket
It seems my screen is turning off because of the 15 second display timeout in the phone settings and not because of Gravity, what do you have for the phone's display timeout settings? I changed it to always keep display on and the screen does go off, but doesn't turn on until I tap the screen.
Is the screen supposed to turn on by itself or does one have to tap the screen?

Pocket sensor = 60 (default I think, it becomes inactive with Any direction checked)
Landscape mode = Unchecked
Table sensor angle = 2
Turn on by motion = Unchecked
Keep On by motion sensitivity = 70
I don't have a false turn on protection in pocket option
Screen timeout = 15 seconds
On my device T Mo G4 H811 no tapping of screen required, all screen on and off functions are performed by Gravity (every now and then it doesn't read the proximity sensor, but 99% of the time it functions as it should).
The default setting should have gotten you working, all these setting are more of a fine tuning to your liking rather than actual functionality of the app itself. Have you tried uninstalling, reboot and reinstalling? Proximity sensor working? Not sure what else you can do other than contact the developer. I had and issue a couple versions ago and it was addressed fairly quickly with an update (I'm sure I wasn't the only one in that case).
Hope this helps you out.
I think once you select Any Direction (Flip Cover), the angles for both Pocket Sensor and Table Sensor becomes inactive, Turn Screen OFF by Proximity becomes inactive as well. I actually figured out the problem as it was the app that was turning the screen off but I am running Power Nap as well which puts the phone in deep sleep mode so I had to add GS to the exclude list in Power Nap before GS worked correctly and turned the screen back on. I already tried uninstalling from the app, rebooting and installing earlier but the problem was Power Nap. I have the unlocked version and it does have the false turn on protection option which is the last option under the Turn Screen ON by Motion section.

Yeah... Power Nap. Loved it on the G3 but on this phone it still has some issues. I stopped using it because even though I whitelisted certain apps some of those whitelisted apps actually weren't being allowed to remain active. Gravity wasn't one of them but Root call blocker was and boy was that a treat at times.
Glad you got it worked out.

Trial and error... Root Call Blocker worked fine (whitelisted) when the screen was on but failed to work when screen off. What turns off my apps when screen off? Power Nap. Disable Power Nap and Root Call Blocker worked fine (screen on and off). So my conclusion was Power Nap even though whitelisted Root Call Blocker was failing to leave that app active.

Interesting, in my case, Powernap didn't put any app to sleep as before yesterday, my battery would last 2-2.5 hours with the screen off then I started greenifying everything except those I know that needs to run in the background and now the battery lasts 9 hours with Gravity Screen. I left White Pages ID without greenifying it.

I am confused with how "Ambient Display" and "double tap to wake" works

I am confused with how "Ambient Display" and "double tap to wake" works
Problem solved. There are settings to configure these under settings --> display. Ambient Display is a LeeDroid-related feature.
I am fairly new to HTC/sense and I am confused with how the "ambient display" and the innate double tap to wake function works. I am currently on LeeDroid rom but I assumed that both the LeeDroid and stock rom share the same function. So far, when i disable "ambient display", my phone will not light up when I get a text. I can't find an option to disable/enable double tap to wake. Here is what happens on my phone (I do not have pattern/password/fingerprint to unlock)
1) phone screen is off --> Double tapping on the phone wakes the screen up. Phone lights up with lockscreen.
2) phone screen is off --> doing a 1 finger swipe up motion on the screen wakes the screen up AND unlock the screen, taking me to the unlocked homescreen.
3) phone screen is off --> finger on fingerprint sensor wakes screen up. Phone lights up with lockscreen.
4) Phone screen is off --> phone just lights up randomly (I didn't even move the phone or change the lighting in the room) with clock in upper screen with a black background. (similar to the screen you get when the screen lights up with a new text notification). Is this the "ambient display" screen?
5) Phone screen is off --> 1 finger swipe down motion on the screen triggers a hint to suggest another wipe down to activate camera
I am very confused as to which of those are part of the "ambient display" function. Why does the phone light up randomly? How do I disable "double tap to wake" or "swipe up to unlock" functions?
Thanks. Any help is appreciated

You should probably ask in the rom thread. You'll get much better advice and more specific to your current setup.
you go to settings/display, gestures & buttons/motion launch gestures then untick everything there
#4 is the Ambient Display feature.
Ambient Display is a LL/MM feature, LeeDroid has enabled it within his ROM (not enabled in stock ROMs).
The rest are Motion Launch gestures and both Motion Launch and Ambient will be found under Settings>Display & Notifications (as 2 different options).

Screen blanks when I grip the tablet

I just bought a refurbished Tab S and it looks like it hasn't even been used. It came with Android 5 and I didn't notice the problem, although I only used it for a few minutes before doing the OTA update to Android 6.0.1. Although everything seems to be working, if I grip the tablet between the lower right corner and the usb charging port, the screen blanks. Then when I remove my grip from this location the screen comes back on! I know ... weird behavior, right? It only happens in this area and it doesn't happen if I just press on the back or on the screen in this area. I have to actually grip on both sides. It's a beautiful tablet and I would hate to have to return it, so I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to fix it. (In everyday use it is just to annoying to aviod touching this area.) I read a post by vndnguyen (14-Jul-2015) on this forum that said:
---------------------------------
Our Galaxy Tab S has a Grip Sensor. You can check it by:
1) Use *#0*# to open Hardware Test, select GripSensor. You will see the grip sensor is located at the upper-right corner.
2) Use *#1106#. You can set the Grip sensor on/off.
-----------------------------------
So maybe I could fix the problem by turning the Grip sensor off. However I couldn't figure out how to enter these secret codes since a wifi only tablet doesn't have a dialer. I found an application called "Secret Codes" with an icon that looks like a lighted match. It listed a code with a #0 for hardware test. I pushed that button and it said it was invoking the code but then I saw no response from that.
Would selecting "Factory Data Reset" from the Backup and reset settings menu be worth a try to fix this problem? (Would I have to do the Marshmallow update again?).
By the way, here are some additional things I did to see if I could make the problem go away (to no avail):
- Starting the tablet in Safe mode
- Turning off automatic brightness, screen rotation, smart stay, screen timeout, Adaptive display, and screen tone auto adjust
- Turning off lock screen
- Turning off Palm swipe to capture
Any advice would be highly appreciated.

General AOD not shutting off

My phone's screen randomly turning on when sitting still on a table even though AOD settings were turned off was driving me crazy. Google search showed it's happening to a lot of people. However, I found a solution that fixed it on my phone so wanted to pass along in case it fixes yours.
Once I disabled the gesture to tap the back to take a screenshot the problem finally went away. I do have tap to wake and lift to wake also disabled, but just having those two disabled did not eliminate the random screen turning on. Hope this helps!
If anybody is interested you can turn this off via adb.
"adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0"

Question Screen Wakes Up When Barely Moved

Hey Guys,
So something very annoying I've noticed so far since owning this phone. I could have it laying on the table/counter, whatever. I have lift to wake and any other motion related setting to turn the screen on disabled, however, if I so much as nudge my phone while it's sitting the screen will always wake. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there some other hidden setting I've yet to disable and need to? Is it a glitch or something? Appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks!
You are not the only one observing this behavior. I believe it's a software glitch. It's has been mentioned on other forums as well.
I don't think it's a glitch. People have said the "fix" is to turn off fingerprint option. So I'm thinking it's actually a feature to turn on the screen so it's ready for your finger print. It's different than lift to wake because it only shows the Always On Display. Lift to wake, goes past the Always On Display and to the lock screen. I've tested it in my pocket and it's stays fully off.

It's a feature not a bug
There is doze_quick_pickup_gesture option that you can set via adb. Just setup adb shell (google how to do it if you don't have it), then enable developer options on your phone (google it too), then connect your phone to your PC and execute this command in the shell:
shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0

Interesting. I noticed that my AOD is always on, even though I have set it to be disabled when charging.
Maybe Adaptive Sound has something to do with that? 'Cuz I enabled that.

Yes i think its a bug when adaptive sound is on and it hears loud sounds, ot turns the screen on. Just try banging the desk or hitting two spoons when near your phone with adaptive sound on and off... The screen lights up when its ON bit doesn't when its off
I am having just the opposite effect. I lift my phone and nothing happens. I have to click my power button for it to go on sometimes.
If you refer to Lift to check BLACK SCREEN It is a feature for easy to use fingerprint so that very helpful for me
