Flashing refurbished 64GB Red HTC 10 I bought off Ebay - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hello
I bought a refurbished 64GB Red HTC 10 off eBay. It came with Android 7. OTA says there are no updates available. When I enter download mode I see that the bootloader is LOCKED + S-OFF (guess they paid 25$ to get it S-OFF?) + CID 1111111
OTA doesn't work because CID is set to 1111111? As far I am aware S-OFF and OTA work together.

How can I flash my phone safely to the latest stock, just like my main silver htc 10? there is any custom from that's better than the latest Oreo stock?
Thank you very much!
EDIT: I just realized they have sent me HTC 10 lifestyle instead of HTC 10!

I suggest you return the phone, as the ROMs for HTC 10 might not work properlyon your HTC 10 Lifestyle.
(P.S. It might be possible to flash with HTC 10 though since it is S-Off, but its not recommended.)

I think that's what they did. because the model shows HTC 10 but it's not.
How can I flash an htc 10 lifestyle stock rom?
I can see there are 3 models
A56DJ_PRO_DUGL https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=16988
A56DJ_PRO_DTWL
A56DJ_PRO_DTWL | Easy Firmware
easy-firmware.com
A56DJ_UHL https://romprovider.com/htc-10-lifestyle-firmware/
Thanks!

As far as I know, there are no furthur updates than Android 7 for HTC 10 Lifestyle.

yes, I know.
I suspect the model shows only "htc 10" because they flashed the wrong from...

Here is what you should do. Install CPU-Z adn Aida64 apps, and share screenshots of system details. That would tell what Soc is there, how much RAM, etc. The model would be confirmed then.

Already done that. the seller wanted a photo of the settings that shows the model that's why I thought flashing stock but you're right that is enough I shouldn't waste time on it

How does one downgrade the firmware?

I have the Indian HTC one X rooted with 1.28.720.10 and can't find the RUU anywhere.
I've been facing a lot of problems with it - including the disk space mysteriously vanishing, (20 gigs gone in my case) and so I want to revert it to a stock unrooted state before returning it for a replacement.
Already seen this thread for the AT&T version, and the sdcard does not have a mmcblk0p23 as stated.
I have the RUU for an older version(1.26.720.2) from the RUU thread so I want to downgrade the firmware to that one.
Anyone tried a variation of the AT&T method? Or is there another way to downgrade the firmware...or am I SOL?

wrong place to ask for. for all type of question there is a veeery big Q&A thread qo and ask there
You can't downgrade the firmware once updated the hboot and radio. You'll have to wait till s- off is achieved for that. What you can do is flash a stock rom (1.26), flash stock recovery, re lock bootloader (in order) and then flash the 1.28, subsequently 1.29.x firmware update ruu. If you want to get rid of the sd space issue, why not flash one of the many 1.29.x and 2.x based roms on the forum?
Wrong section btw. Anyway, best of luck!
Thank me if I helped.... You know I'll do it again Oh, and by the way, Sent from my HTC One X
Yeah, you can't flash an RUU that would take the hboot to a previous version. A few Chinese sites mention the 1.28.720.10 RUU, but I can't translate from my phone.
As said, just install ARHD 7.1 or whatever if you're already unlocked.

[Q] Stock rom install / Broken screen replacement

Hello,
I inherited a stolen and recovered One X from my mother-in-law. The screen (top part) is quite smashed but works fine, touch is good, screen is fully readable under the cracks.
Some questions if I may;
1. has anyone managed to replace just the top part of the screen, or is it just better to replace the entire assembly?
2. has anyone had experience of ipod-repairs-4-u on ebay (UK) and would you recommend them, or just do it myself?
3. The phone was an O2 one and I am on Vodafone (plus I don't like the O2 stuff!). I have installed Viper/venom rom but I would rather have just the stock HTC rom as this one gives me no wifi strength for some reason. Until I get used to the phone I think I would rather just be stock. How can I install the Stock rom from the ruu_endeavor_u_ics_40_htc_europe_1.29.401.11_radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260491_signed_c9d22 RUU I have downloaded?
Thanks for your patience!

Oh God How do you use it with that damage
Sent from my HTC One X
I don't think branded (locked) phones are 1.29.401.11, make sure that the ruu u have corresponds with it device. Or you could Brick it! Simply fastboot oem lock, and run the ruu.

Luckily, I have a Sensation! I have ordered the tools to dismantle the unit just to see if it is worth my trying. Otherwise I can get it done through an ebay seller.
It's quite cool though isn't it! Still fully working under there!

I have installed Venom ROM but ideally want a stock rom, my guess is I can't use an RUU anyway so would have to do something with the rom.zip, anyone have any how-to's?

I just bought one from this eBay seller from HK for the missus and it's also S-OFF. I unlocked bootloader, upgraded HBOOT to latest version using the RUU and flashed the latest PA ROM.
There's a thread here, but development seems to have been halted a long time ago. Looks like nobody cares anymore I'm also willing to provide any required information on my device.

HTC One M8 (T-Mobile) Mobile Hotspot with Skydragon ROM v10.0 Stuck on "Processing"

HTC One M8 (T-Mobile) Mobile Hotspot with Skydragon ROM v10.0 Stuck on "Processing"
Hello, I have had the issue of Mobile Networking sharing on my HTC One M8 being stuck on "Processing" and being unable to use the function. I am running this rom on v10.0. I remember using a fairly old version of this ROM, probably v1.0 or so and tethering worked fine for me.

Hitting "Off" will turn the mobile hotspot "on", but also gray out that square and no network hotspot is created.
Hitting "Off" will dim the screen black and have the word "Processing" in the middle and freezes my phone. I am forced to mash the home button to get out of that screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much!

Great :good:
Enjoy the ROM
Same issue on my HTC Desire 625
My HTC Desire 625 used to be a Cricket phone, was unlocked and now I'm using it with T-mobile. I'm having the very same symptoms. Don't know much about ROMs or rooting. Any advice how to fix?
Thanks,
Orshi

It's not the same problem. Completely different device, and the thread is specific to Viper ROM on the M8.
It's unlikely anyone here has any info about your specific phone. And following advice intended for another device can in incorrect or even harmful to your phone.
What I can say, is that WiFi hotspot is often disabled on stock US ROMs, on various devices.

Bricked HTC One M9 (managed to install TWRP 3.0)

Hi, forgive me if this is not the correct place for this but I am at a dead end with my struggles. I have an HTC One M9 that I managed to delete the OS & Recovery. I finally managed to get TWRP 3.0 back on it and when I try to install the OS (ViperOneM9_6.0.0) & Gapps it goes into a bootloader loop. All goes well throughout install process but I just cant get it to work. Can anyone PLEASE point me in the right direction, I've been w/o a phone for going on 3 months now.
P.S. If it helps at all it says developers edition and my carrier is MetroPCS (Tmobile)

I suspect that your firmware is out of date. Please post your OS version - that will help us know how to advise you.

Thank You. It doesn't have an OS Right now, could you be more specific about what you would need (format of the info possibly, or an example. I am fairly tech savy but have very little android internal experience)

Your OS version will come up regardless of whether you have a ROM installed. Check out the readme thread for how to use fastboot to pull the information.
