With OOS11 , The highest SOT im getting is 6.5 hours
How is the battery life in Android 12 OB1 ?
There is a hope for a good battery life on Android 12?
My battery life is noticeably better on OB1. I was getting about 6-7 hours SOT, but so far on OB1 I'm consistently getting over 8.

I haven't run into any of the issues I've read about, but then I've only been on it for like 5 days so far. The only issue I've encountered is my 3rd party alarm app isn't working in the mornings, but that happens to me every single time a major Android update comes out and they change how they do process management. Probably just a new setting I haven't found yet, and the built-in clock app works fine until then.
Not all apps are compatible with Android 12 yet
Mine is very good.
But that depends on your usage. If you don't put the phone down, ever, no battery, no phone will ever be good.
Seems good enough me, but still watching it for a while....
6 hours 30 mins when the battery remaining was 3% with similar usage, it totally depend on the usage.
Much better than Android 11

Hi all,
Now, I've never gotten great battery life (combination of screen on time and idle) with any phone. I don't use them all that much apart from bursts and my OnePlus 3 would get me 3 hours SoT tops within 24 hours before I need to charge again.
However since Nougat I'm struggling to get even 1 hour SoT.
I'm using Bluetooth, NFC, both SIMS and nothing else untoward. This is the same as pre-Nougat.
Anyone else seen their battery life die since the update
Try to use 1 sim. I have 3:30 sot for both sims. And 7 for 1 sim.

that's still more than 3 times what I'm getting for 2 sims...
Did you clean flash or dirty?
Rooted? If yes, which supersu version?

Hey Konvict
Can you answer these questions then please?
How long a period of time is that 5-6 hours of SoT over? 24 hours of standby?
What radios and apps do you have running that might eat battery?

I would say about 24 hours....i normally charge my phone at the end of the day when i have about 40-55 percent battery left but even then i usually have goften 2:30- 3 hrs screen on time depending on the day. I will attach a screenshot of my battery today and maybe u can take a look at it.
Actually today this nougat looks very good.
I'm getting awesome batter life.
First two pics from OOS 4.0
Last two pics from OOS 4.0.1
You both seem to be using both WiFi and multiple SIMs - strange then.
I can't use GSAM as I don't have root and Nougat stops the app by app recording of battery use for third parties, otherwise I could see what was happening.
I do have a number of email accounts, and messenger apps, but these sit dormant most of the day (i have no friends obviously lol)
Hmm, maybe a wipe IS needed.
You guys got a great battery life, I got 2:30 in my good days, never above it!
However, someone told me to switch Doze off from developer options, I just did that and I'm currently charging my device, will see if it do any good by the end of today "fingers crossed"
PS. I'm using Freedom OS 2.0 with clean install + using Bluetooth and 2 SIM (one for calls and the other for data)
I'm also noticing a big drop in battery life after switching from marshmallow to nougat on my OP3T. Cleared cache & did factory reset, as I always do. All apps and settings the same, and usage the same. Drain seems to be extreme, not sure what's going on. The battery life was AMAZING on marshmallow... kind of regretting switching now

Go back to the previous versions of Facebook and Messenger. These two have been draining battery like hell for sometime now.
EDIT: Try SuperSU 2.79 final.
Can anyone tell me that which is the best rom for screen on time.i am using stock rom.just me a rom that can give a 5+ hour screen on time...i have posted my usage in screenshot
OOS 4.0.2 with OB7 firmware. Then flash render EAS kernal. EAS will make sure that you get the most battery out of your phone.
It doesnt fully depend on the ROM. If u really want good battery life then its all about tweaking. For example flash LOS14.1 with bluspark/ElementalX/Franco then apply a AKT profile, for further explanation of this head to the advanced kernel tweaking thread and then download the akt APK. Then choose which profile u think suits the best. U can choose from battery/balanced/performance. Then u can easily reach 5h SOT. Hope i helped you.
I have 8-9h SOT on sultan's CM13
Screenshots: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70828408&postcount=668
Beta 11 with Franco's kernel. 4+ guaranteed SOT for me with a moderate gaming ( CoC and CR .... Both battery hogger )
Plus both Sims and 4g data on one is on mostly.
If you want more battery then you should try AKT ZHANA but for me it made my phone slow. So avoiding it at this moment.
Hope it helps. Thanks!
SOT is personal and doesn't mean a lot you can leave your display on with sync off, 0 Brightness and get 20hrs...
Try different setups maybe ditch some apps and log in with optimized sd browser etc
I have got my best SOT with Slimroms
It really depends on usage more than anything else. For example, I'm consistently getting 5-6h SOT on stock ROM and kernel, no doze tweaks or anything. Never got below 4h, once hit over 9h.

my constant is with 4 hours sot with stock 3.2.8. could be better with 4.0.2 or whatever.. but i stopped thinking about the sot coz its just making me paranoid everytime i look at the battery stats. as long as the phone can hold up till end of the day then im good and as long as i can get off a charger everytime im on low battery then im damn fine

I agree with this as well. I think back to my note 4, and just wanted a better that would last until I got home.. I frequently had to plug it up or swap batteries halfway through the day.
Now with heavier use, [and more knowledge of android] regardless of what I do, my oneplus 3 always makes it through the entire work and school day.
H2OS Beta 7, stock kernel + root +greenify +juice defender(default settings). It's the best battery duration I have with OP3. 5-7h sot generally.

They are talking about unplugged screen time ... I see no other way you could get 12 hours sot from this phone. I'm not calling you a liar just saying I don't think it's possible.
Ever since upgrading to Android P (OTA) 3 days ago I've noticed the battery life is really poor. On Oreo I used to see only 1-2% drain overnight. Now I go to bed with full charge and wake up with only 60% left. The battery drains a lot faster when I'm using it as well.
I used to be able to get 6-7 hours SOT easily. Now I'm not even sure if I could squeeze 4 hours before the battery is flat.
Is anybody else seeing this? Or is this normal considering Android P just got installed and it needs time to "optimize stuff"? But then again, with Oreo I got awesome battery life from day 1.
Weird, I've gotten better battery life..
Better battery here
Interesting. I'll let it run a few more days and see if there's any improvement. Otherwise I'm going back to Oreo.

Give it some time, once adapative battery figures out your usage and adjusts accordingly, you should see better battery life

Try to factory reset ur device this may help
Thanks guys. I'll wait a few more days. If it doesn't improve will try a factory reset
I'm getting better battery life with Pie
Pixel 1 XL could last a long time. Pixel 2 XL was worse and the worst with Android P unfortunately. I upgraded from Beta, decided to factory reset since there was a bug with Wear OS eating the battery. Got a little better. Got some more little better disabling adaptive battery. I think Doze is still in Android P.
Anyway, it's still not that good. But decent.
I am having the same issue.
when I reboot the phone, the battery seems ok.
But when I start using the phone and open several apps, the battery starts draining quickly.
I installed magisk root, should I do a factory reset and not installing magisk?
I went from a day and 17 hours to 16 hours. This is definiately a piss-poor "improvement to battery life."

I'm not sure how much help adaptive battery is going to help. It's meant to limit background battery usage of infrequently used misbehaving apps. If that's not happening adaptive battery won't do much.

My battery life has been terrible. Today I unplugged at 93%. I've been off the charger for 9 hours with 4 hours screen on time. I'm at 23%. With Oreo that kind of usage would have me at about 40%.
I'd rather not have the hassle of having to do a factory reset but I might not have much choice.
It hasn't got any better since I reported the issue.
I think I'm going to flash Oreo instead of trying a factory reset as I doubt it would solve the problem. Maybe someone else could try and let us know.
I'll report back after flashing Oreo. Very disappointed. I thought this was the first phone I didn't need to tinker with all these stuff on. I was really happy with it until this issue came up.
So a few days ago I flashed Oreo only to have it tell me it couldn't find any of my backups on Google Drive during the initial setup. Of course, the backups were done when I was on Pie.
So I had to upgrade to Pie then factory reset. This time it found my backups.
Yesterday I managed to get 5 hours SOT with about 40% battery left. Life is all good now

looks like i'm going to have to do the same. It doesnt make sense how some people are getting better battery and other worse. Are there some of us running apps not 9.0 compatible? might be worth uninstalling everything and adding them back day by day. it'll take a long time though!

same here, slightly better
It appears I jumped the gun. The problem came back yesterday.
The phone loses about 4-5% battery per hour even on standby. I have no idea what's going on; I haven't installed any new apps and usage pattern hasn't changed either.
One very interesting fact I have discovered is that the issue appears to happen only when I'm on Wifi. When I'm mobile data, all is good. So the phone seems to be doing some funky stuff when it's on Wifi lol.
Oh well, I guess I will try to install BBS and see if I could find the culprit.

That is entirely possible. I guess we have apps that have not been written/optimized for Pie? That would explain why some people are not seeing the issue and some unfortunate ones like us are.
I factory-resetted the phone, the issue is still there. I don't have any strange app. It seems that it's just the system that is consuming the battery.
That's very strange I've had the complete opposite, battery life has improved, if reset didn't fix it monitor your apps for unusual battery usage and limit the background activity of battery consuming apps
Hello XDA developers
I am very surprised to see that after installing one UI 2.0 the battery performance got the worst
I am getting 5 hours plus screen on time on one UI 2 beta while I got 7 hour plus screen on time on the one UI pie
The device care section is pretty disgusting it shows daily screen on time instead of the screen time from the last full charge
Pretty frustrated with this update

Well what do you expect from a BETA update? You should've just waited for the stable release.
Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
It is call beta.
We almost need a sticky for everytime a beta is released.
Downloading a beta and then being surprised that it isnt running perfect means you probably shouldn't be on it.
It's like taking an experimental drug and being surprised at unforeseen side effects.
Edit: Then again it's not like anyone would read it.
I don't agree with you and I don't know how you measure it since is not really clear if the new battery usage graph changes something. In my personal daily usage I've been surprised some days, getting more than 6 hours of screen in 30 hours since plugged. Most was on wifi, radio signal influence a lot specially if it's weak.
Anyway I noticed some drains that are typical of samsung software, some days just for using spotify for 2 hours on the buds the phone would lose 30% while others 5% checking it some times

Yes, and battery life gets better after about the 3rd full charge so give it 4 days , and 3 over night charges , before it can be discussed. The latest beta is not bad , in terms of battery, and it is not better than Android 9. I am sure over time it will improve, and the stable release should be at least as good as pie.
Note from the moment the beta was flashed, statistics and predicted time to die where not given. Now that it does, it keeps saying that it will last less than a day (about 22-23 hours) and I have seen 1day+ prediction on pie , but over all it seem to be same SOT and same life of battery between charges, under same conditions and apps for my phone..

Hi guys been using miui 12 for two months and I don't want to go to custom roms. is there anyway to get SOT like miui 11 android 9.
now only getting 5-6hrs at most.
what will i do.
is Chinese rom better than Global?
Using stock MIUI 12.0.3
I have never run the battery down all of the way, but by extrapolation it looks like I can get about 10 hrs, assuming just screen time with minimal standby.
With my normal use, overall I get 2 full days on a charge, each day with 3-4 hrs SOT.
Unplug early in the morning, and plug back in evening the next day.

For me miui 12 has better battery life then miui 11.
I'm getting 10 hours SOT easily and am very satisfied with the overall performance and gui after debloating.
I kept data but cleaned system, cache, dalvik and vendor.
But clean installation is as always recommended.
Another thing, give battery life a couple of days of use to normalise after upgrading.
In almost every case after upgrading, especially dirty flashing, there's a noticeable increase of battery usage as the system has to rebuild caches and kernel to stabilise.
Especially the media scanner is consuming power in the background depending on data storage. Adding .nomedia files to folders you don't want to be indexed helps a lot.
Overall, don't judge the battery life too soon after upgrading.
Hi,
Did you guys find out a solution?
I have the EU rom 12.0.3.0 on my Mi 9T and I still have a 5-6 hours SOT.
The battery is not draining when I put it on flight mode which is good.
I do have a normal use of my phone: whatsapp, emails, internet...
I have as well restricted many apps in the background.
I dont know what to do more to have a better SOT (2 days without charging my phone), except coming back to miu10... which is a shame because i bought this phone to enjoy last os.
