Nova launcher can use picture files as Shortcut icons but for some reason not .ico files... It's on its seventh version, so why not, has this never come up!?
Is it mandatory to have icon color background, is there a transparent background option?

Hi!
I created this Launcher Pro dock background in Photoshop. The background is 50% transparent, but when i set the background on the dockbar, it's solid black color. Does'nt Launcher Pro support transparency in images?
And how do i fix it if i can?
KP.
Not only Launcher Pro
Okay, so not only Launcher Pro f's up.
I tried setting transparent image on Widget Locker too, and it becomes solid black color.
Don't forget it'll need to be a gif or png to use transparency.
I know that, i use png files.
So this is the concept:
Instead of having a wallpaper with custom Icons, you have a custom wallpaper with the icons designed on the wallpaper itself and the icons set to an invisible icon (Simply save an icon with "Simple Text-Text Icon Creator" without any text). This way you can design complex wallpapers with shapes that have the functions in the painting itself.
Just an idea that came to mind recently, you still have to drop the icons on the correct grid part though. You can change the icon using Apex or Nova launcher.
All the best
Current wallpaper
I have an invisible folder with my most used apps on the left and the gallery at the top. You can also name the folders with a space so only a panel comes up.
At the bottom are phone, messages, app grid and two apps.
Hello!
I'm using nova launcher and...it would really be grate, if i could define the transparency of all the icons on all my homescreens.
I know how to disable the icon names, but i would like to have, nearly, transparent icons...
Is that able on my s3 with nova?

I can only think of a couple options for this. Either find a compatible icon theme with transparency in playstore (nova, apex, adw icon packs should all work), or make your own icons and and edit your shortcuts one by one.
Of course you could always request this as a feature to be added by the dev. Here is the nova thread:

edit: Here are round transparent icons - the closest I can find to what you are looking for

is it possible to show widgets in the widget drawer as app style icons instead of large "widget" icons? i'd like to tidy up my widget drawer (to match the rest of my phone) but it's impossible with the different sized widget icons that hog a full page for just 6. heck, i would be perfectly happy to just list the widgets in a list, as text only, if that were possible. i'm using nova launcher and haven't found any settings that would allow me to alter the widget icons appearance. any thoughts?
Hi guys,
I've been playing around with creating my own icons for use in Nova Launcher. When I want to change an app icon into my own custom icon via Nova Launcher's edit function, the icon I've created comes with a black background. In Photoshop, the icon appears to have a transparent background...so why is Nova Launcher adding this black background?

Yeah, I was saving it as a PNG file, but I found a workaround. I was previously accessing my icons through Root Explorer, but when I selected them through Gallery, the black background disappeared.
