Question Mi 11x Poor Performance - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I recently bought a mi 11x on sale from Amazon India.Expected it to score close to 900 in Geekbench 5. googling suggested the same, but it only managed a 600. I know benchmarks dont matter much, but getting only 2/3rd of the expected score scares me.
are there any battery optimisations that mess with geekbench? I tried my best to disable whatever i could find. (i'm a noob, pls tolerate me)

Mi 11X has Snapdragon 870, right? Yes it should be around 900-990 singlecore and 3300-3500 multicore
maybe try restarting phone, make sure man's not hot

Want buy: snapdragon 650 or 652?

Want to buy this phone, please advice, which snapdragon to choose with, with the intention of modding?
Is any significant performance superiority of 652 over 650?
I think the 650 (Hydrogen) has the best support in terms of custom ROMs.
I've got a 650 Hydrogen and I think it's pretty snappy! No major lags or performance issues.
FYI, the Xiaomi Mi Max with the Snapdragon 650 is referred to as Hydrogen.
The Xiaomi Mi Max with the Snapdragon 652 is referred to as Helium.
Hopefully that will help with searching out custom ROMs
You can some comparison here

As I understand kernels are the same for hydrogen and helium?

Is Mi Max 1 worth buying in 2018? or is there any better alternatives?

Hello everyone, I need your opinion and help
TLDR I need phone with big screen and good performance, is Mi Max 1 still worth buying in 2018?
Long Story
I need device with big screen and good performance vs price. After long searching, going back and forth in tablet or phablet
I found that Mi Max is one of the best contender, with old but strong SD 650 and humongous 6.5" screen.
There's Redmi Note 5 Pro with 5.99" screen, better performance but I already have Mi 6 with 5.2" display, the display difference isn't that much, so I think there's no point having Note 5 Pro.
on the other hand, Mi Max 2 is good but weak, and Mi Max 3 is beast but too expensive.
On the good side, Mi Max is big, cheap, and good performance and rich XDA community. There's less to no bug on each new developed ROMs, right? as Zenfone 2 user I'm jelly haha :silly:
On the down side, it's 2yrs old already, still use micro USB.
I find it difficult to find another device that can beat this proposition but I'm open to any new suggestions.
I'm thinking of buying the 3/32 variant around $124
I'm gonna use this phone for multimedia, little bit of gaming (PUBG, Vainglory etc), and probably as car HUD.
So, what do you think? is it still worth it? Is there any other alternatives?
Thanks in advance
A.f.a.I.c. there are no better alternatives yet. First of all, screen size and ratio is most important for me. All phablets have that ugly notch these days and no dedicated hardware buttons. I've been looking at the Mi Max 3, but found out it has no coloured LED notification light (how stupid is that?). Huawei Honor Note 10 may be an option, but don't like the EMUI shell.
What's wrong with micro USB? You could use one of these if you don't like the micro USB connector, a lot cheaper than buying a new phone

The Mi Max 3 has much better camera but the CPU is not very fast, does not have NFC (AGAIN) and no LED colour notifications. I wouldn't but the 3/32, get a deal for the 652 ones or wait till something better comes our way.
maybe LG V20 ?
I just bought a LG V20 on aliexpress because it s shock proof, has removable battery, better camera and better performance (but smaller screen) than mi max 1.
I believe there ll be promotions next week on aliexpress and you ll be able to find them for less than 140E (so more expensive than the mi max 1 ... but maybe you ll be able to find them cheaper elsewhere ... I am in France and they have not be sold here so it was kind of logical for me to import it ... )

I don't trust LG. And it's not that big....
I would not buy the snapdragon 650 variant, maybe the one with 652 (3gb/64gb or 4gb/128gb). But just save up for the mi max 3. It is only $250, similar to the new price of the mi max 1.

I have the 650 variant, and it is a bit slow and youtube 2x speed freezes at 720p60fps or higher.
If your S650 device is having issues with 720p YouTube content then it is purely your private issue. I own Mi Max 1 3/32 for 2 years now and never had a lag/spike during watching any videos. This goes for YouTube, Twitch and many other services.
And now to the topic:
After 2 years I'm still able to get 3-4 days up with 9h sot (it used to be 10h+). Device is fast. Heck, I'm using miui 10 right now with CPU governor set to powersafe and battery optimization turned on - no lags at all. Modded gcam improves photos a lot. If you can get this phone really cheap then go for it. If you do not need such phone right now then do the same thing I'll do - wait until November sales (11.11 if I'm not mistaken) - most phones get their prices cut down a bit by then - and buy a Mi Max 3 (6.9 inches with same phone size will be great for media consumption). I used to change phones every 4-6 months. Mi Max is first phone I own for such a long time because there is simply no competition for this price.
No problems here with youtube or Twitch. I have the 652 variant, though.

Despite the color, the notification led of Mi Max 3 is barely noticable. They should allow to use the front flash instead.

I agreed, no better alternatives yet for this such price vs display vs performance, and ofc notches be gone lol.
I have no prob with colorless LED Notification tho'
Honor Note 10 price rn is $510 for 4/64, that's crazy. Also I don't want to do the same mistake with Huawei/Kirin like I did with Asus/Intel. I would love to have stable custom ROM for once lol.
MicroUSB is just me being nitpicky hahaha, I don't have anything against MicroUSB tho, since most of my gadget still use it.
I also looking for that particular acc but Xiaomi Mi6 isn't compatible with magnetic adapter..meh..too bad (CMIIW)

Hm.. but how abt the custom ROM compability for 652? I heard 650 is more popular and stable.
I checked Mi Max SD652 3/64 is about $147

The price difference not that high for the V20 2nd hand unit tho'

How about the SD 652 compability for custom ROMs? and also I read SD 652 consume battery lot more and over heat more than SD 650
here's the article https://www.techcenturion.com/snapdragon-625-vs-650-vs-652
And what about normal speed? does it struggle too at 60fps?
$250 is twice the budget I have right now for Max1 lol

Beta MIUI 10? Even my Mi6 didn't get official stable MIUI 10 yet lol
3-3days up? sounds promising hahaha
I'm thinking of putting Ressurection Remix in Mi Max tho' and I'd like to try gcam mod
The price rn still stable at $124
True, Max 3 have nearly identical physical size of Max 1. But the price is still outrageous (but it's a new new device ofc), I checked it's around $270 in here, price cut won't do them much justice.
I might not need such device urgently but I'm itching to buy one lol

Yea, MIUI 10 from Xiaomi.eu - most of Xiaomi phones got their builds there, you might wanna check it out. I had to switch back again to RR 5.8.5 due to WiFi drain for me on MIUI 10. $124 is a pretty good price for Mi Max. I'd go for it. Or just like I said before - wait until 11.11 (but I wouldn't expect for price to drop that much on Mi Max 1). After doing more research I think I'm gonna wait for some other phone to show up for upgrade, so looks like 1 more year with Mi Max for me . Mi Max 3 is not really an upgrade if you take a look on that closely (battery feels even worse). Who knows, maybe Xiaomi sub-brand POCOPHONE will show up with something interesing (F1 already looks promissing, but there is no IR blaster for remote nor NFC for payments, so already too much to give up).

Question Is this a good phone under 250€?

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read this!
I'm in need of a new phone like ASAP My last phone was a xiaomi redmi 10s and I was happy with it but now that xiaomi redmi 11 is out I'm thinking of buying it, is there a better one for under 250€. I basically game on my phone all the time and listen to A LOT of music but main focus is gaming like emulators and stuff like that. So can anyone help me?
P.s I'm thinking of getting the 8gb version of the phone
yes! beside x3 pro these are the best for emulators, sound is decent, screen is excellent, just don't update MIUI to 13 version, keep MIUI 12 til 13.5 release.
I'd get a Mi 10T (Snapdragon 865)
Snapdragon 870 is not overclockable so 670MHz GPU is your max
Snapdragon 865 is overclockable so you can overclock to 900MHz GPU but you'd need to get a fan to sustain that high overclock while gaming.

Question Redmi K40 gaming edition!!

Hey all, I've posted here before to get some opinions if I should choose the POCO F3 or another phone if I'm going to upgrade from iPhone 6plus. I've never had a xiaomi phone, but I'm interested in the midrange budget phones of xiaomi that are gaining lots of positive reviews. So while I was looking for a POCO F3, someone recommended to check out the "Redmi K40 gaming edition", as I mentioned I am not xiaomi phone expert but the k40 looks similar to poco f3 however the k40 gaming edition is different. If you have the chance to choose between POCO F3 or Redmi K40 gaming edition, what would you go for? Taking in consideration the performance, ram, display, battery, software... Ofcorse I'm not getting it for gaming only but for general uses including gaming sometimes (I don't care about the camera) I'm focusing on what would give me a great gaming and general use features and would last for 3-4 years!! Thanks in advance for your opinions. https://9apps.ooo/
I honestly dont buy anything without a snapdragon processor
K40 gaming has side triggers, so, that would be fun while playing pubg or cod mobile but the lifetime of the triggers will probably be short
After buying the poco f3, i found out that the snapdragon processor can be overclocked and that most of the snapdragon 870 are locked while the snapdragon 865 are unlocked (865 overclocked gives higher performance than a 888)
When i bought the poco f3, i bought the 6gb version, i figured 6gb would be enough.
My Conclusion :-
I would look for a snapdragon 865 phone with 8gb ram or more

Question Phone life?

Hi, I want to buy a poco f3 next year and I want to know if there are some bugs, like motherboard issues like poco x3 pro. How long does this phone can last ( Phone not battery)?

next year
by the time it becomes next year, sd870 will only be good enough for candy crush
no bugs here, im pretty happy with the phone
only issue is the virtual proximity sensor, i used to cringe at first but then i got used to it
I'm pretty happy with my Poco F3. I installed a Custom ROM on it, but MIUI is also good.
The phone itself, yeah.. everything's cool. The camera is decent for me. Display awesome, 120 Hz OLED. Performance is excellent.
Battery.. depends on your OS, your apps etc, software-stuff ^^ but software-stuff can always be changed.
But MIUI isn't bad in terms of battery, it's normal.
Sound is very nice, especially with Dolby Atmos. You have 2 speakers, so stereo..
Yeah, no issues for me ^^
Also I don't think Poco F3 is "useless" next year. You will still be able to play demanding games, like Genshin Impact etc..
Only being able to play Candy Crush next year, that's a gross overstatement. The Snapdrapon 865+ can do much more than that, I'll tell you that. ^^
I play PlayStation 2 games on my phone. sm00th like butter
and if the price is right, next year. sure you can go for it. But keep Official OS-updates in mind, because Xiaomi will only provide updates for a certain period - At some point they will say: We don't provide OS-updates anymore for Poco F3, but then you can still get Updates through Custom ROMs.
Also keep other phone models in mind next year, maybe a better phone for same price next year? who knows.
Thanks for helping. I did a mistake, when I said next year I mean next month ( January *2023*)
Yup worth considering!
Altho, if I would buy a phone today, I would get a phone with a 5000 mAh battery instead of 4500 mAh, and maybe slightly slower processor, because I find myself not really using the Horse-power of Snapdragon 865+ very much... (yes I play a few games, but not much)
So I would trade bigger battery for slightly slower processor.
But that's just me. If you are a gamer, Poco F3 is excellent.
*However* Poco F3 has excellent Custom ROM-support, there are lots of very stable Android 13 Custom ROMs available.
Other phones may not have as many Custom ROMs available, it all depends on the popularity of the phone. And Poco F3 is very popular. And for best Custom ROM-support, better to get Qualcomm instead of Mediatek.

Somewhere next year Poco F3 will get the last android update and after that about a year of security patches (every 3 months). Personal I wouldn't pick it if you plan to use stock ROM and value updates unless custom ROM is an option.
Custom ROM wise in my opinion it's a very good choice. LineageOS has at the time 3 maintainers for this device (as the only Xiaomi device). I expect the support to last at least a little. IMHO its really difficult to brick the device if you follow the installation manual to the letter.
Compared to Poco X3 pro I really enjoy the AMOLED that keeps the screen very readable in sunlight. I also like the colours and the dark mode but that's subjective.
From my experience Poco F3 tends to last on battery similarly to Poco X3 pro (which has 5.1 k mAh battery) in daily usage, possibly thanks to the amoled screen. Standby will be longer on the poco x3 pro though.
Performance wise its definitely a much better choice compared to pixel 6a that has tensor which is just much less energy efficient and has unstable performance during games.

Poco F3 will be updating for a few more months by Xiaomi and I'll try to aggregate my best guess on it.
As far I remember from some Xiaomi's statement the Poco F3 will receive two full Android upgrades and four main MIUI also. Then Android 11 => 12 and 13 & MIUI 12 => 12.5, 13, 14 and 15.
If I'm right the F3 will be part of .DEV flavour until Q2/Q3 2023 (2 years) and then will receive the last MIUI 15 Stable build based on Android 13 with some occasional security updates by Xiaomi. Probably every 3 months.
wait for the poco F-27z seriously
870 888 8G1 8G1+ 8G2
870 is like 5 generation old now
if it were up to me i would get the 8G2, or atleast an 8G1 or the latest generation 7xxG if im on a budget

Pixels have good camera, but the rest of the specs are mediocre for their price.
I hardbricked my Poco F3 once, but got it restored. I could perhaps help you get your hardbricked Xiaomi back to life, if you still have it.
About good battery & performance... I would pick something from Xiaomi again maybe, because they offer good hardware at cheap price (I don't like the brand but the hardware is good.)
I would probably pick some Redmi or Poco phone, but with 5000 mAh, and Snapdragon-processor. ^^
But.. Poco F3 *is* good, I can tell you that. I'm happy and I will keep my F3 for some years.
If my battery dies at some point, I can easily replace it, because I took my phone apart once already

Hi,
I love my F3, phone has been solid as a rock, yes the Proximity sensor was a bit tricky in the early days, I do miss wireless charging and a SD Card slot like my old LG G7 but you can't compare a Flagship to a mid/budget phone.
I got a great deal here in the UK, £50 off + 2 years Warranty, I`m not a fan of MIUI because i use a Samsung smartwatch as a trusted device but Miui only support xiaomi devices.

In life, it`s not about saving money it`s about getting best value for your money, unless money is not a issue.
I hope you make the right choice for you

In life, it`s not about saving money it`s about getting best value for your money, unless money is not a issue.
I hope you make the right choice for you

870 888 8G1 8G1+ 8G2
870 is like 5 generation old now
if it were up to me i would get the 8G2, or atleast an 8G1 or the latest generation 7xxG if im on a budget

I'd dare to suggest to get at least 8G1+ or 8G2 as 888 and 8G1 are less energy efficient than the 870. They're only better in benchmarks testing temporary peak performance and they use much more energy for it.
In terms of energy efficiency:
8G1 < 888 < 870 < 8G1+ < 8G2

Ok thanks!
I have the Poco F3 for almost a year now. I'm also very happy with it. As john64 said:

I also feel the same. The lack of a true Proximity sensor is weird at best, but given the other benefits the F3 brings to the table (price, reliability, strong dev community, fast cpu/gpu), it's an acceptable trade-off.
All in all, it's a great phone, still worth its value.
