Doesn't work for me. Swiping down on notification just pulls down the notification panel. Do I have to disable the pull down notifications gesture first?

When using your phone and you receive a notification as a pop-up on your screen, you do a quick swipe down on that to launch the notification into a pop-up window
If you're trying to launch a notification from your notification pull down list.... then press and hold on the notification continuously until you get to drag it to the center of the screen to launch as a popup, or to the edges (if using an other app) to split screen the existing app with the notifying app!

Thanks but that first option doesn't work for me. Swiping down on the toast notification just brings down the notification bar. Had no effect on the active notification pop-up. I will try disabling that gesture and see if it behaves the way you describe. That would be a very helpful feature for me. Thank you.

I do have the swipe down gesture to pull the notification drawer too...
In my developer settings I have these 2 options enabled -
1. Force activities to be resizeable
2. Enable free-form windows

I think I figured your issue... you must have selected "detailed" and not "brief" as your notification style in your notification settings

Yes you are correct. Just changed to brief. I will try as soon as I get a notification. Thank you!

It works! Thank you great feature! Samsung really needs to go back to including 600 page manuals with these things! I wonder how many other useful features I still don't know about???

[Q] Add buttons to app drawer?

Hi
Is there a way to add quick buttons to the notification drawer (the one you open by just swiping down on the screen, I mean), instead of tapping the upper-right button first?
There are very few options I use very often (like wifi on/off, plane mode on/off, rotation on/off) and I wish I could have those buttons directly in the notification drawer, instead of doing one more tap on the related button.
Any idea?
I've looked over the Internet but I can mainly find either apps that include other apps in the drawer or development explanations. I would just like to have a "widget" at the top of the drawer.
Thanks

This doesn't really answer your question, and you probably know this, but there are certainly widgets or mini-apps or something that would let you put something on your home screen (or a different screen) to control those things.

Yeah there's a native widget doing this, thank you.
Yet I'm looking for the same thing in the notification drawer.
In the meantime, if you know a widget that I could freely customize, plese feel free to tell
Nova Launcher might make things easier

So this is not a complete solution, but it will get you closer to what you are looking for. The pre condition is that you have to be using Nova launcher or any other launcher that supports gestures. So in case of Nova, you change the swipe down gesture to "Expand Quick Settings". This way at least when you are on the home screen, you can quickly get to your settings by swiping down or whatever other gesture you use.

Open the menu of your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and in the next step tap on settings. Scroll over to the “applications” section and tap the button with “Messages”. In the next menu scroll down again to “Notifications” and tap on it. You will now find a section called “Preview Message”.
You will find two checkboxes. One with “Lock screen” and one with “Status bar”. Delete the check marks in it to deactivate the preview message on the lock screen and on the status bar.
In the future you wont get any preview messages displayed on your lock screen or at your status bar, when a new sms message arrives.
I'm not sure about "call preview" though.

Not sure, but I think what you're looking for is in the phone app. Go there, hit menu. Tap "Call" then "call-related pop-ups." Not sure if that's what you're looking for or not.

Swipe down reveals settings directly

When I swipe down the notification menu from the top it directly shows the settingsbar. I really don't like that. On my N4 it took two swiped down.
The most stupid thing is that I can't swipe down notifcations (to see more info) when the settingsbar is still on the screen. When I swipe that up I can swipe down a notification..
Is there a way to change it?
Yeah, it's so annoying that I have to scroll up then down again to see notifications.
Someone fix this please!
Nova launcher or add a notifications button on the nav bar
Edit sorry the navbar works the same as stock

Sound Profile Change from Notification Pull Down - ?

I do not see the ability to change my sound profile: sound , vibrate, silent -by pulling down on the notification bar shortcuts...
Is that a possibility in Nougat ? If so, how.
I have an old widget called "Silent Mode Widget" that I can place on my home screen, but have somewhat gotten accustomed to just pulling down from the top of the screen to make the change... Thanks in advance for any tips on this one.
Just found this. swipe down to open quick settings shade, pull down again to access more quick settings, and then you'll see "do not disturb", that has the sound silence settings in it. If you hit edit you can move it up to the top row if you want.
I see that, but that is not what I am referring to. - That is for a period of time for "Do Not Disturb" - It is not the volume toggle button where you have three options for "Sound, Vibrate, or Silent" which is what I'm looking for...
I was looking for the same thing and found a free app that adds the toggle - works great:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.quicktiles&rdid=com.cgollner.quicktiles
If you want some more toggle options, there are other apps as well.
Volume Slider LIKE 'Brightness' Slider would be perfect!
I wish there was an app/tweak that would allow one to install a volume slider like the brightness slider in quick settings that did not require all sorts of other development tools and a desk/laptop! That would be perfect. And again, like others are saying it should have come with the OS.
The real question is, how do we edit the more in depth sounds? Like with my s7 edge I could control the volume of system sounds, ringer, media, and notifications. How would we do that on pixel I can't find any setting that lets me do it.

I use Volume Butler from the Playstore it works great! It also separates the ring volume and the notification volume. Very easy setup.

Oreo collapsed notification

I am using "power toggles" and in nougat the toggles are shown in the notification area in expanded mode. In Oreo however, the notification is collapsed and I have to expand it to press the toggle buttons. Is there a way to make it always expand?

Same question..... @cesman, any luck in finding a resolution?
You have to choose "pinned on top and icon present". I used the battery icon shop at least it is showing something useful
