Question Bad Batery life and How to fix? - OnePlus 9 Pro

I got my OnePlus 9 Pro a week ago and I've been using the charger that was included in the box, But after using my phone for 30 Minutes the phone has used up 20% of the battery. I've Checked in Battery optimization Settings and all my apps are on "Intelligent Control". My Phone is also rooted with Magisk and I've installed AdAway with the root option. Thanks in advance!

Battery Usage:
Installed Magisk Modules

I set all of my apps to "Optimize" except apps I need immediate notifications for (leave those on "Intelligent Control") and my third party alarm app ("Don't Optimize"). Also, social media apps are battery hogs. I keep them frozen in Ice Box except when I'm using them. Also consider flashing Omega kernel. It's basically just stock kernel debloated, which seems to allow the phone to run cooler and have longer battery life.
I just looked at your screenshots again though... 10 hours since last charge, over 2 hours of screen-on time, most of which was spent on YouTube and TikTok, and you're still at 80%? Sounds like decent battery life to me.

What exactly is the problem here?
Your screenshot shows 10h since last charge, a very small charge (upwards tick on the chart), 2h of SoT and you're at 80%??
Of the 20% you've lost, you've spent 10% on YouTube, 8% on tiktok.
Maybe I'm missing something, but what are you expecting?

It's your installed apps/modules Im getting atleast 8 Hours of SOT.

you've spent 10% on YouTube, 8% on tiktok.

I'm using AutoHz but I don't have that option. Only choices available with this QS is Force 120, Force 60, and Auto. Unless you're saying that Auto is the 90Hz.

Rooted and su is granted of course.
The only possible way for this, AFAIK, is to have the max frequency of your phone set to 90Hz, like OP7T or so, but yours is 9Pro with 120Hz, so I don't really understand how.

Best battery measuring app for OP5

All.
Yesterday I gave AccuBattery a try. An app loaded with information and stastics.
Anyway battery was 100% at 23:00hrs. Woke up at 03:00hrs (yes I'm an early riser) and battery was at 90%!???
Day previous battery hardly decreased during the night. (That's without AccuBattery installed)
Currently have greenify installed. Plus Boeffla kernel.
Surely AccuBattery must be the culprit?
What other apps are people using, that are effective and don't drain battery like nobody's business?

I've removed it since the original post.
I have Accubattery on my O+5. I used it also with my Axon 7 before. This phone always reported a high consumption of battery coming from Accubatery. Yet, I'm not sure it was really the case, the battery didn't seem to suffer from it.
Now, I think I'm going to try GSam and see how it goes. This software is vastlty used, seems to be pretty good at telling exactly how the battery is working, which app is using too much, and so on...
I wouldn't use Greenify with my O+5, I think it doesn't work well with Nougat. But I might be wrong.
I use BetterBatteryStats , it helped me a lot debunking the wakelocks and alarms associated to the huge wifi idle drain in the 4.5.5 update
And for the charge monitor I have the very good ChargeMonitor from XDA Apps --> https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/charge-monitor-t3555496
Just out of curiosity for those using Accubattery, what is your battery estimate? Mine is 3073mAh with of course the 3300mAh advertised.
Weird, I had a greater estimate on my Axon 7 when the battery was advertised as less (3250 advertised and an estimate at 3300mAh)

No for me BBS works correctly after each reboot, but in the first place after the install I had to push it as a System App in order for him to work correctly

Probably a bug from BBS

It's a feature of the OP5
How to Take a Scrolling Screenshot on the OnePlus 5
Next, OnePlus offers a helpful “scrolling screenshot” feature. This takes continuous screenshots until you tell it to stop, allowing you to capture more than what you can see on the screen at any given moment. This is helpful for capturing an entire conversation of text messages, saving a full web page or long emails.
Press and Hold the Volume Down and Power button at the same time, then let go
You will see and hear the screenshot capture
Tap on Scrolling Screenshot on the bottom right side of the pop-up toolbar (rectangle phone icon)
The phone will scroll automatically and continuously take screenshots
Tap the screen to stop
Additionally, the OnePlus 5 will stop taking screenshots when it reaches a maximum file size or reaches the end of a page. Essentially it does all the work for you and is extremely convenient. It saves automatically, and now you can edit or share the screenshot like any other image.

battery drain

So I'm not going to lie... I'm hating this phone.
Camera is awful and now I'm getting massive battery drain.
I was at 100% and unplugged at 2am by 7am without any use at all my battery was down to 89%. I've found the battery stats but it doesn't add up.
Is there anywhere I can see the hardware usage?
So far I've dropped the screen refresh to 60htz, resolution to HD, dark mode on, always on is off, tap and lift to wake are off.... my 2 Yr old phone didn't drop this much!
Can anyone help? I'm really trying to salvage something from this phone but if the camera issue isn't sorted by Samsung and I can't get more than half a day battery out of it I fear this maybe the biggest waste of money ever
so in 30 mins of being unplugged on a full charge, not being touched or used at all the battery has dropped by 3%
Exynos ?
Sent from my a40 using XDA Labs
same here - i dropped rez from 120 FHD to 60 FHD thinking is going to improve but had the same battery life - so it doesnt look like its the refresh rate but rather something in the background - could be phone trying to find a 5g signal - as am outside - DK - still is rubbish
exynos990. can i turn the 5g off?
Samsung unfortunately still failed to optimize its Exynos processor so you have to manually sort everything out .. all the apk that don't need have disabled and ones i use less have put into a deep sleep... 96Hz refresh rate, 70% brightness, sync., location etc.all on ...WiFi/data 80/20%... all under ideal conditions, at home (due to self-isolation) .... and after that it looks like this...S20 Ultra-Exynos

1. Go to settings >> apps and here you can manually disable almost any app that you do not need...
2. Go to settings >> Device care >> battery >> app power management..
- here you can put the app to deep sleep etc...

So iv installed a battery monitor and the screen is using around 1% every 4 mins. I'm on dark mode, 60hz refresh, auto brightness, HD+
....
Something don't seem rite

I have s20 Exynos 4G and was also shocked by the battery initially. Some things that helped:
- Did a factory reset and setup everything manually, with data moved by Samsung Switch battery was dying in 2.5 hours
- Disabled Edge panel, seems it used location a lot
- Put Facebook into deep sleeping apps
- Turned off AOD
After the above, my phone is reaching 4.5-5 hours SOT, display at [email protected]

Question Best MIUI based ROM for battery life?

Hey guys,
The number 1 thing I care the most about my poco f3 is battery life and support of features such as Dolby Atmos, Gestures, MEMC etc.
So considering that, what is the best MIUI based ROM out of all of the MIUI based ROMs?
(Stock MIUI, XiaomiEU, MIUIMix, EliteRom, OneOS, MiGlobe, Hellas MIUI, MIUIVN)
i want to know too
Debloated Stock?!
Whats your problem with stock? Even of you don't want to debloat just turn on battery saving then 120HZ display.
This is debloated stock. Today usage And from this 6hrs around 1hr is LTE+ usage and brightness of higher than 60% (I don't go lower than 50 even in night)

Why is it better than MiuiVN or Xiaomi.eu if you can explain?
thanks
I have now had the EU as well as VN on it. For me, One has the best battery consumption.
Explain? The question of the creator was: Best MIUI based ROM for battery life?
For me it is OneOs
The consumption at night, for example, is always very gladly taken by me, since everything is always set the same and the use also. So the value reflects very well the consumption. With One 1%. EU min 2-4% and VN also

Take every claim of "best battery life on ABC ROM" with a grain of salt.
Everyone has different usage. Different apps. Different enabled features.
I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM weekly. I'm happy. I use Always-On-Display (in permanent mode), Bluetooth always enabled for my Fitness-Band. Google Fit, Maps and Play Services Background Location enabled.

Themes / Apps / Mods Disable "Adaptive refresh rate" Miui

Used to be a magisk module but that doesn't work at all lol.
Works only once/sometimes not even once then the phone resumes control of refresh rate switching... I'll leave module below but new way of disabling is as follows:
su
pm disable com.miui.powerkeeper/com.miui.powerkeeper.statemachine.PowerStateMachineService
Copy and paste this into termux , give it root and that's it.
This should work just fine on all miui roms, but haven't tested myself so any feedback is welcome.
I wanted to leave module below but deleted it instead... oh well doesn't matter I guess
Version 2 is out lol.
This time it disables refresh rate for good - no longer does the phone go back to 60hz even when you're not touching the screen!
This is the best you can do untill I'm able to figure out how to disable adaptive refresh rate without having to remove the app entirely
Anyone using this lol?
Does it work for you?
I'm currently facing some issues lol
Trying to figure out what exactly causes this to stop working in fresh installs of miui...
For some reason if you apply this fix straight after mi flash the phone will after entering doze / rebooting few times revert back to enforcing 60hz when not touching screen.
Will try waiting few days before applying this to let it "settle" first...
I find your Magisk Module description amusing lol.
We already had the discussion that removing PowerKeeper.apk causes problems with apps shutting down unexpectedly in the background.
What is the apk name of the app that is in charge of adaptive refresh rate? May i please know?
Doesn't work on miui a12 for me.
is this in development ? or project is dead ?

Check the original post , there's a new method now. Magisk module simply couldn't bind fast enough , this instead disables service only
To test whether it's working enable "show refresh rate" from developers options and leave phone as is - if it remains on 120hz without dropping to 60 at all thenn it works , next you can try openning apps to see - yt , recent apps ( swipe up and hold ) , mobile legends are all apps locked to 60/90hz

com.miui.powerkeeper
But trust me is not worth messing with - even when disabled/deleted there is another service in place which throttles refresh rate down to 60hz.
I hope new fix adresses this issue better - the app will remain working but the service that throttles is disabled, so hopefully that keeps it at 120hz all the time
Have you guys seen this video? This worked for me.
You can force 120 Hz on MIUI with SetEdit. Change user_refresh_rate to 1
No Root required and remains after Reboots
It works

I think this only disables lock in apps like yt and mobile legends... Allows 120hz but it still drops down to 60hz when not touching screen?
There's some bugs to it as well - like rebooting locks the display at 60hz everywhere until you re enable it from settings , I don't remember well
Either way hope someone can try the fix from original post - if the touch still falls down to 60hz when not touching screen I think I have an idea on how to fix it separately

If you disabled motion detection in Naptime, then Naptime uses light doze but with all parameters from deep doze. It is confusing, but this is a clever workaround and the only way to disable motion detection while dozing. Deep doze does not allow disabling motion detection, but light doze does. So, Naptime fools the system into thinking it is using light doze, when it is actually using deep doze parameters.
How long did you wait before you started noticing the data from the screen off session settings?

Yes. Bear in mind that this app was not designed for WearOS. Therefore, your YMMV over the course of days and/or weeks.
I recently uninstalled it due to the sluggishness of exiting doze even on the Pixel Watch [that's just me].

Yeah I recently have been using the pixel watch and it lasts a sold day for me but not enough for sleep tracking. I just don't use it as much and have it on battery saver always. It helps a bit without sideloading
Mine does not last a full day. I do use Sleep Tracking (not sure why) and I run out of power around 7/8pm and throw it on the charger (when I remember)
