Moto camera working for custom roms

Well almost all custom roms ( resurrection remix, cm 14.1, los) lacked proper moto camera ( usually force closes while taking video or slow motion videos ). Well after quite a bit of surfing I found a flashable motocamera zip file. Flash it using twrp and voila the stock camera is here free of crashing:victory:

Motorola Camera working, you need to be on lower(stock) DPI value, that works.
Edit: Motorola camera, not Moto Camera!

Yeah, I noticed that too. Well mostly everyone uses stock DPI, so i guess it wont be that a problem. Well, Something is better than nothing right ?

Is this Moto Camera and not Motorola Camera?

Not everyone uses stock DPI, look at the screenshots around here. The moto camera from play store works flawlessly with stock DPI as already discussed some months ago.

Sir, how can i check default dpi in stock rom. Using official N.

In Stock rom you have already Motorola camera, so no need to change the dpi to get it working

Yes you are right but what is default DPI ?
I google and found this trick to change dpi in stock without root.
to set.
adb shell wm density “INSERT_DPI” && adb reboot
for reset.
adb shell wm density reset && adb reboot

might be just me but the moto camera from play store always crashed when i started recording anything even at stock dpi in every custom rom i used ( cm14.1, rr and los )

this is moto camera. All features work fine with stock dpi

yeah motorola camera worked just fine but it lacked slow motion video recording and other focus options which is present in moto camera. that is why i provided the link

Moto camera video recording and slow motion video recording is not working in RR. But Motorola camera's video recording is working and in slow motion video it records it but play as normal video and not slow motion.
Please say how to fix this

my moto camera worked just fine in rr. Try reflashing it, clear the cache and try updating the moto camera via playstore. Motorola camera supports slow motion recording ?

I'm running the latest RR and flashed this today. Regular video recording works but slow motion recording option is greyed out and so is the storage location option. I've tried clearing both cache and data and updating from the play store with no luck.

Not working
I tried flashing the MotoCamera app from the link, still its not working, I'm able to open the app. but I'm not able to click any link on the demo page.

I guess you flashed the Moto Camera zip from recovery (possibly wiping cache/data as well?) then updated the app through Google Play when you booted back in?
Probably check you're opening the right one (should be com.motorola.cameraone) and is version 6.0.43.10. Video recording and slow motion capture both appear to work for me on an XT1642 (G4 Plus) running RR v 5.8 from Silesh.
The only issue I've found is after a burst shot, trying to delete the photo burst doesn't appear to work within the camera app, I switched to Google Photos and could delete them from there.
EDIT - appears that Google Photos doesn't like linking to the burst shots from within the camera app, but the Gallery app shows them just fine and can scroll/delete them, odd...

I tried flashing the Moto camera zip file again. But it didn’t work. When I open the app, it shows the below mentioned page, but am not able to click "Next" option. On clicking back, it exits the app.
After flashing the Moto Zip File : 6.0.20.6
After updating the App from Playstore : 6.0.43.10

You should update your thread title saying which version of Lineage you use.
I have the problem that the video recording is not working (normal photo option works though) with "lineage-14.1-20170406-nightly-nicki-signed"

Same thing with me too. camera for photo working but for video not working.

Have you found a solution to this problem? For me also I can take pictures, but video recording does not work.

Yes, it's a known bug. You can solve it: Install OpenCamera (from FDroid) and use it instead of the pre-installed camera app.

Issues:
- Flashlight read false cpu temp even though my cpu under 45 degree celcius
- No photos when click on results (we need OOS Gallery to work)
Test this on very low light condition atm (just woke up tho)

1080p max video recording.
no manual mode present
Panorama mode needs image stabilization, shaky photos.

it'll be there if you were using Sultanized ROMs
example; AOSP 8.1 nor LOS 15.1 by YumeMichi
or use any ROM by Sultan XDA

LOS 14.1 camera has the sutan camera GUI. Dont know which hal it is using.

Very Good, but no save in SD option. That probably because de OP5 don’t have SD !

Problems with camera in custom ROMs

Every time that I try using an ARM64 custom ROM, I can no longer record videos, and sometimes the camera app crashes on start. I've tried the camera that comes with the ROM, I've tried various cameras from the Play Store and also I've tried Google Camera ports, but they don't work.
Help.

Use Footej Camera from the attachment.
Just a little note: with Alize v10 kernel I didn't encounter any problems even recording videos by Footej Camera only. Tried with AEX 5.4 and LiquidRemix ROMs. Here's a link if you are interested: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76356195&postcount=33

In theory, this let us use aosp roms but still enjoy xiaomi images processing ie same quality photos as stock?

Thkans a lot! I've flashed it on Pixel Experience rom and everything went fine. Appart from a few freezes in portrait mode, I had no bugs so far. :good:

Works perfect on lineage-16.0-20190109 with MiPa Kernel [19.01.19] - no freezes here

Not as easy unfortunately. The camera HAL, which in stock ROMs use to be always better, normally decreases quality on photos for custom ROMs not based on stock.
Also the custom camera blobs used on custom ROMs use to have less quality.
In any case not sure how much this facts still apply since Treble integration.
To summary: i didn't do a comparison between stock and custom ROMs using miuicam but i did with both using gcam, same conditions and parameters, results were the same/very similar.

Thanks, do you experience that cameras are "snappy"? Are they crashing under some circumstances or are there lots of features that doesn't work?

Crashes when I try to take a picture or video on Pixel Experience GSI Rom.

Does it benefit from using dual camera? Is there 2x optical zoom option using second camera?

Yes. It utilizes both camera's. 2x optical zoom works. And portrait mode also works.
I did have a bit of a bug with the second camera freezing, causing the app to crash when 2x optical or portrait was selected. But that was fixed after a reboot of my phone.
I am running Pixel Experience.

I got this solved with the help of the developer in the Telegram group. This is how: I opened the file ANXCameraMagisk_5.OldShamefulAnt.zip and deleted the lib folder in /system in the zip on my PC (it didn't work on my phone), reflashed it in Magisk and now the stock camera works again and so does the external QR code reader. Also the Miui Camera kept working after a short glitch when I tried the first time.

I found that portrait mode doesn't work anymore after that mod. Did you try that as well?

Same here. So I use Gcam for pics and the miui ported cam for video.

Anyone got it working on a GSI rom?
I can make short videos. And change all settings. But as soon as I try to take a picture, the app crashes to homescreen.

Do continuous shootings work? One thing wich is holding me back from switching to AOSP Roms. Every Mod i tried so far can just make a picture for each press of the button but not shoot until i release the button
