Hi there. Is there any way to detect/understand if second space is activated in Xiaomi note 9 pro? Let's say it's hidden and can be accessed only by password from the lock screen. Thanks in advance.
Go to 'settings > special features > second space' the option to create the second space is there. So if if it's there, no second space was created

Ha, not so easy.. In second space settings you're able to choose to hide it, so in first space you will see only usual option to create one.. I need another way to detect it.

/data/user maybe.
User 0 is the default, User 999 is for dual apps.
Don't recall the User # for second space, but it should show up.

Hm.. Any options without root?
I see it has two MI account logins. Current one (this login) and one more. Maybe that might be a sign of parallel space..

Im not completely sure what you're "investigating", but local device accounts are not related to Mi accounts from what I can tell.
You can have multiple local user accounts, without having a logged in Mi account.

I want to understand if there are ways to find out that hidden second space is being used on the persons phone. I suppose that second space also might to be linked with Mi account so maybe that's would be an indicator. See photo - that was found in phone's Mi accounts section.

Simple mod to back up all your photos in Original quality to Google Photos without it being only in High Quality.
Requirements: Root
1st Method
Instructions:
1. Download Root Explorer
2.Download the Nexus.xml file
3. In Root Explorer go to system/etc/sysconfig
4. Paste the .XML file there
5. Change to file permissions to 0444 (read only)
6. Clear Data/Cache from Google Photos
7.Reboot
8.Enjoy unlimited original photos backup
For those who this method doesn't work, there's another method I've found.
2nd Method
For this method you'll need BuildPropapp.
Download the app from the file I've provided or from playstore.
Open the app , At top right corner you'll find a pencil icon. click on it, You'll see a list of codes.
Now you can either manually find the following values or use the find option in the menu from top right corner.
Change The Following Values:-
<strong>ro.product.model=Pixel 2 XL </strong>
<strong>ro.product.manufacturer=Google</strong>
<strong>ro.opa.eligible_device=true</strong>
After changing the values. Click on save icon and close the app.
Again wipe the user data of Google photos and reboot your phone.
That's all...

Try reinstalling the app and makes sure to follow every step. This method works fine on my 9T Pro Global ROM. Idk about custom ROMs. Edit works on mine. Idk if it works but Hide GPhotos in Magisk and got to app management and give every permission to GPhotos.

Thank you very much, indeed it works as it should now and no issues with the app ????
Did you check if your Google Drive used space increased or not when backing up new photos?
Didnt work on pocophone f1.
Does not work with me, unfortunately. Is there any other way that I would really like to use??
Thank you so much.
Works on K 20 Pro and on One Plus 6.
Work on my mi 9 t pro; i've only set different rw/r/r (644) cause 444 doesn't work for me
Now Gphoto says that my ''pixel'' has unlimited space in original quality thanks for sharing

Just so you guys know, if you guys moving from android to ios, the Google photos will consume all your free storage ( 15gb for gmail, gphotos, contact etc ) , so better think twice if you want to do this.

This is true even for a Pixel device.
Just buggered my buildprop and my phone doesn't boot properly anymore, do you guys have the original value for "ro.product.mod_device" for this device? Not sure if global/non-global makes a difference?
Thanks

I find this stupid, I used to do a full quality backup. Later then I switch my device to an iPhone then found out that my storage is overused 44gb/15gb. I cannot receive any email because there is no free storage left so I have to subscribe to 100gb storage for 2dollar per month. Ezmoney for google
I came to this phone from a Xiaomi mi mix 3 so I had a very useful app on my PC called Xiaomi adb toolkit. So with this app u just plug your phone into PC and open it and it shows all the apps it can uninstall on screen with just push uninstall. Granted all the apps don't populate for a Samsung so u can add apps by package name and then click uninstall and it shows success on the window . I was able to uninstall any app on this phone with this toolkit with this method. To get package names off apps on your phone just download package names from play store hope this helps everyone.
Thanks for sharing, what is the difference between uninstalling and disabling applications on the performance? any significant difference noticed?
Uninstalling removes them completely so you'd gain the storage space...
Can you share the link?
Can one be sure that this Xiaomi toolkit will not deliver/install some security risks on your phone?
Just used the dpi changer and it also works flawlessly this phone looks great at 450 dpi...yes this app is safe it's from a well known developer for xaiomi phones just search for Xiaomi adb fastboot tool
Here is what the gui looks like
Sorry to drag up a old thread but can anyone vouch for this?, Does it actually uninstall the app fully instead of essentially "hiding" it like the typical adb method?
Seems like the main advantage to this, is that it'll give us back storage space, instead of hiding the app from User 0, but I was under the assumption this was only possible with root access, how is this application bypassing that?

Is just A GUI for ADB, so it uses the le and regular ADB commands to do it too. A GUI may just be more convenient.
I don't think you'll gain much space though, (it's not really an issue with the Note) since it's only uninstalled for the user 0, but it's not hidden. The advantage is that you can reinstall it in case of you need it back without factory reset.

My understanding is that the adb method uninstalls updates & the just hides the factory application from User 0 as it's still in the phones storage, from OPs description I mistakenly thought he was suggesting it fully uninstalled the app even from system

Plenty of apps that can remove any apk on the phone. i use CCSWE App Manager. Before that some smasung only apps but they have quit support and it doesnt recognize me as a paid member. The CCSWE does exact same thing. You can hide or uninstall without root.

I f**ked up somewhere I don't know. Please bear with me and help if possible...
I exchanged the mobile with other mobile which already had mi account. However while changing mobile, I signed out from both the mobiles and put sim card in one another. After that, I couldn't turn ON find device feature which I probably suspect is due to the associated mi account of the device. I was successful in deleting (permanently) mi account of one device while I am not able to delete of another. When I go to website, it shows me following error (screenshot attached).
I want to flash custom rom and every YouTube video is recommending to turn find device ON in order to successfully unlock the bootloader. The find device feature is not working with the new mi account i created so I want to delete this and create new one.

Disable synchronization and delete data from your MI account, than try again. You can even try to reboot after your done. You need to do it under MIUI ROM and use settings to remove account, not from browser!!!
Good luck and stay safe.

How to delete data? I mean when I go to option, I see only two options.

2 Delete everything backed up in mi cloud
Third one is directly to delete the account. However even if i try from mi cloud (inside the phone), it shows me same error I attached screenshot.

If it still wont work .. do factory reset and try again.
And than I'm out of ideas.
If it still fails after factory than try to ask on MIUI forum (official) for help.

I've a Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, but all my music and pictures get randomly removed all the time and then I need to download them again.
I don't remove them myself for clarity.
I guess the cleaner app removes it but there is no option to add them to exceptions and there is also no option to turn off auto clean.
This is a very annoying problem and I'm tired to download all my music and pictures over and over again so how can I solve this?

Maybe your device has something like "storage manager" active?
Go into settings and then storage, see if you find something suspicious.
Uninstall or disable cleaning app... you really need to play with your device more.
That cleaner app sounds more like malware

Well If so, have a look at gdrives settings.
Also: Are gdrive files in another folder than those not being removed?
Could be malware... you know odd behavior.
The OS or an app may have been corrupted.
A factory reset be a good idea at this point.
Self destructing files aren't normal.
Is it just Google stuff that's vaporizing?
If so maybe deleting/recreating your Google account might solve it.
I'm leaning towards a full nuke of that OS though.
I don't trust Google with any of my data management other than Gmail. I backup and load everything from the SD card, flash stick and hdds.

True, could be malware.
A malware checking app would be a first step. If you can run adb on your computer you can check for modifications made on the file system (as you operate as "shell" instead of "root" (unless you are rooted) you won't be able to read everything. Actually you'll get "access denied" very often. But if you find system directories/files with another date then the 'standard recovery date' this could be a sign for malicous activity)

There's another possibility, a malware jpeg.
I ran into two in the last 15 years, one a year ago on my N10+. Downloaded from a site into the download folder it corrupted many files in that folder. Some only had damage to the file name and were easily repairable, some were not.
Deleted all I couldn't repair or was in doubt about especially the tainted jpeg.
If that jpeg would have been moved to another folder the same thing would have happened.
The only way to stop this type of malware is to find the infected jpeg. It may not show up on many or any virus/malware scans. I found this one because I noticed the damage immediately after viewing it in downloads. If one one these gets in your database they are little nightmare. One reason I keep downloads in the Download folder for examination, especially jpegs, are these little nasties.
Not real common but they're out there.

All my pictures are in the .jpg format
Create a folder in the root directory (not in any other folder) of your storage
In this folder create another two folders - one for music & one for pictures
Move all pictures & music to these folders
This will eliminate sync from apps deleting anything as they shouldn't have access to these folders
If they are still being deleted after this then the user is telling an app to delete them (intentionality or unintentionally)

Since you said you did a factory data reset there must be an app somewhere which is responsible for that.
I would check Google Drive – I don't even have a google account so I can't check it, but maybe GDrive is deleting files automatically.

Few questions regarding that app. I have an old OP6 and just got OP11 and used Google copy content from the old phone but that process simply will install the same apps on a new phone but will not copy over those apps' settings and data.
My question is if the Clone Phone app will copy those settings and app data or not? Also, can I clone only selected apps something similar to clone using the Titanium Backup app?
The oneplus clone app Copy only the apks not the app setings or app data
What the clone app can copy is the phone settings

This feature was never meant to clone app with settings in the first place so you could move apps from phone to phone.
For this you have Titanium Backup, Swift Backup etc.
Thanks for the clarification. I see that Swift Backup is currently the way to go.

Oneplus had their own stock transfer tools from one phone to another - maybe this will move your apps with data/settings included.
Cant remember the name because I disabled most of them by they should be included in the initial phone set up wizard or as a bundled app or avaiable from the Google Playstore from Oneplus.
Clone App is mostly for cloning apps like Whatsapp etc.
It does clone data but is very limited, meaning only compatible with a few apps like whatsapp. You will be informed before starting which data can be cloned which can't.
It is still useful in some ways, at least it is very fast (make use of wifi to wifi transfer)
