I recently rooted my moto g5s with magisk i wanted to change a few system files and the boot animation but i found myself unable to edit any root directory file. I thought that the problem was the root and that i did it wrong, but after installing root checker it said it was fine. I was able to use some aplications that need root like fluid ng but i am not able to use ones that create/delete/edit files. I have no clue whats the problem please help.
OBS: my magisk version is 23.0 and im using android oreo 8.1.0

This being my first post a HI EVERYBODY is in order.
On with the show.
So, I managed to unlock my bootloader via htcdev website, i slapped on the cwm recovery and managed to put a custom rom on my cell.
The rom in question is the jellyking, works fine, everything is great.
PROBLEM:
although ive tried several cm10 roms i liked jellyking the most but on all of them i had troubles getting root.
what happens is that i download es file manager, set it to give me root and mount system as RW, popup says that the preinstalled (with rom) superuser app granted those rights and that everything should be superb, but I couldnt copy files from my sd to lets say /system/media (wanted to change my bootanim) it says file copy failed, only once i did manage to copy a file but i dont know how.
The question:
when i put a custom rom, do i need to reapply the famous root.zip or maybe install busybox as my first app or maybe flash over the existing superuser app the superSU app which seems to update the root binaries sucessfully.
BOTTOM LINE:
What is the exact (if any) procedure that I need to follow to get perm root access (copy rights) to my own phone, each and every reboot.
Thanks in advance for all Your insights,
Humbly,

Hi all,
I want to root Android 4.4.4, as you may know the only way to root it to use pre root image file.
So I used "RK3xxx Firmware Tools by SergioPoverony" to extract "System" and "Boot" files,
No I have to embedded the SuperSU manually " explained in "META-INF\com\google\android\update-binary" then reflect all the permissions for the file into "system_statfile.txt" then repack the images via the same app then flash the drive.
me experience here is limited , can any one tell me how to follow the instruction in the "update-binary" file to install the superSu to be able to root the update.img ?
Do I have to use Linux or Windows is good to go ?
Thank you all.
HTC 10, S-Off, Android 8.0, Magisk 16. After moving to Oreo I can't change system files. So AdAway (changing hosts file) doesn't work. I even can't mute boot sound. Is there any way to solve this problem?
You can read the instructions to Magisk and anything else you're using.
What's the point of running Magisk if you're going to change /system? That's what "modify system systemless-ly" means.
Why aren't you asking this in the Magisk subforum?
