So I've been using this phone for a few months and love it. The only issue I have is that when I update a ROM, regardless of which one it is, it bootloops and I have to start fresh.
What happens is that the phone works, I make a nandroid backup, flash rom, gapps, and magisk. When I reboot, it stays on the MI logo and reboots to recovery. The only way to fix it is by using FORMAT DATA, which wipes the phone clean and boots to the last rom that was flashed with it.
Thinking it was an issue with the ROM (crDroid), I reflashed it with Nusantara and it booted just fine. When I went back into recovery, to restore data and apps, it went smooth until reboot. After reboot, it sticks on MI logo and reboots into recovery.
Something in my DATA is causing a recovery bootloop. Has anyone else experienced this? This makes me not want to update my ROM if I have to painstakingly restore apps, from nandroid backup, using the outdated TitaniumBackup.
What am I doing wrong here?
Is there a better way to restore data from the nandroid backup?

Hi,
I just recover my phone with a cwm backup.
But after this, my phone stuck on bootloop.
That's why, I've wiped dalvik cache.
But now, on boot, Android is such as new, no more apps, ...
So, What's the way to get back as more data as possible?
I was thinking that you could get back your mobile as before with cwm!
Thanks for your help
Well, when the phone gets a bootloop after restoring a nandroid backup, it's maybe because you have a different kernel from the one that's on the backup file.
If you want, try flashing with Flash Tools the stock ROM, get onto Fastboot mode and do a hotboot of a CWM kernel (because you will lose the complete install, by now) then restore your old backup.
It will keep all the data.

The backup date of yesterday so, it's not a kernel problem.
What I did:
Flashed new rom (it loaded up no problem)
Rebooted into recovery
Did a Darkside cache wipe
Installed Gapps
Phone wouldnt boot...
Booted into recovery... attempted to Darskide Superwipe (to clear everything and try installing again)
Phone hangs on the wipe and doesnt finish... have to pull battery
Tried just doing a system wipe from the CWM menu..... phone hangs and doesnt finish....
Panicked... Tried restoring a nandroid I had....... restore seems to be working until it gets to "Restoring Cache..." Then it hangs and nothing happens.... sitting at this screen afraid to do a battery pull.....
Please HELP... what the hell did I do
****************UPDATE: Seem to have fixed the issue... Grabbed a flashable zip of CWM.... reinstalled CWM... Rebooted recovery... Am now able to flash superwipe and roms etc. Thank god. Seems to be working fine now
What recovery are you using? If you're using CWM 6xxx, you don't, and shouldn't, need to use the Darkside wipes! You only need to use that if you are on CWM 5.xxx, using it on a higher version causes issues, mainly with people who don't know proper manual wipe procedures.
Solution, change your recovery, do all your wipes, flash rom and reboot.
Edit, are you trying to use Cyanogen Mod?
Here's the short and sweet of it. I am on an i747, running TWRP 2.4.4.0, and PACMAN ROM current nightly. Then I updated to 4.6.3.0 TWRP. Recently my phone lost power ( I forgot to charge it). Then it would boot. I tried to do a restore in TWRP and it would fail at data. I tried flashing a ROM, fail at running updater. I tried to restore, again it would fail at data. Nothing would install or restore. Finally, in desparation, I formatted data. Then, after all of internal was wiped, I could restore from a backup.
Problem fixed right? No.
If I reboot, shutdown, crash, lose power, or in anyway power cycle, the phone fails to boot until I completely format data and do restore. WTF is going on? I'm currently trying to downgrade TWRP to see if TWRP is the issue but I doubt it is.
EDIT: 16:23 The problem is in DATA. I used TWRP backup to restore JUST system and boot and it didn't fix the issue. Something is messing up stuff somewhere in /Data. When attempting to restore data, I sometimes get an error about data/lost+found but I can't reproduce the error right now
Hello
last night I tried installing the carbon rom for my Note 2 N7100. (v1.8 Release stable build)
Everything wen't fine but I used titanium backup to backup my files and I also have a backup with CWM. I cleared all data/factory reset and wipe cache plus I installed the 4.2.2 gapps. The OS worked completely fine but when I used titanium backup to restore all apps and system data, It asks to restart which I did and when I restarted my phone the startup time took 25 minutes+ so I knew something wen't wrong. I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache and data reset again but I'm still having issues. I forgot to mention I tried using titanium backup and just restoring system data and not the apps.
I decided to do a restore completely using the CWM backup then I flashed 4.3 gapps to get it back up to date. However, when I tried to startup my phone, gapps isn't working properly and keeps popping up com.process.gapps or something like that has stopped. Usually this means the wrong version of gapps is installed but I've tried reflashing it incase I had a bad flash but that didn't work either.
I'm now using carbon rom without any of my previous system data or apps.
What can I do?
Thanks
Hey all,
I've been having some problems restoring a TWRP Backup of the stock ROM. I made the backup and then flashed another OOS based ROM, but the phone seems to freeze at the boot screen when I restore my backup. Anyone else having this problem?

Backup don't work yet (well did not work last week)
i have had this problem too, what i would try to do is download the OxygenOS version u r on and clean flash the full stock rom, then go and do a restore or try to go to advance and wipe caches, data and system, make sure not to do sd card, i have had this happen when i made a back up on 3.1.2 and tried to restore a nandroid from 3.1.0 and it froze at boot, either that or it may take awhile, on of mine took like 8 min, how long did u let it go

I let it sit about 15 minutes or so before booting back into TWRP to reflash.
