Folks; some of the apps I'm using on the M51 have a rather peculiar behaviour: On those, using the stock Samsung keyboards, I am unable to add newlines / linebreaks to text entered, as the "ENTER" key apparently is toggling a "send message" rather than a newline input. AndStatus (http://andstatus.org/) for Mastodon is an example for that. After being in touch with the dev, it _seems_ device specific but tracking this down got me nowhere. Can anyone enlighten me what's causing this?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Kristian

Soooo i JUST found out that the google search can be used to make calls when my sister tried to google something and it started calling a friend.
what other cool commands are there that the phone will act on?
for completion sake the command was
"Call <name>"
if you have multiple names or names that are similar, such as christine, christina, kristen (i just said call chris) it will bring them up as options which is pretty nifty.
The options are limited right now. I know Froyo will greatly expand on this. Allowing you to do a lot more than just call. I am assuming compose text messages and much more.
Here is what I use:
"Call <Persons name>"
"Navigate to <location, address, name or zip>"
Those are the only 2 commands I know of. Everything else will result in a search. You can get apps that will allow you to compose SMS or emails to hold you over till Froyo.
If you are using the voice dialer app you can use "Open (app name". For instance in the car I use "Open Pandora".
I don't think it works with the search button, but if you use the voice dialer it does.
In settings-->call-->phone settings, there is an edit default message setting and a choice to edit text message before sending. This seems to imply the phone has an "ignore call with text" feature. I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy S phone that would give me 5 text options when I chose to ignore a call. Is this feature built into the Incredible 2, or do I need to download an app?
I am also looking for this feature. The only phones I've seen that have it are the Samsung Galaxy line and the LG Vortex.
When you are receiving a call hit the menu button there is an option to send a text. Not sure if that is what you are looking for?

Hi all
I'm using RealVNC's "VNC Viewer Enterprise Edition for Pocket PC E4.2.7b5" to connect to my home PC through 3G, when I'm not at home. This works pretty well, except for that I don't know how to send the "enter" command to my PC through VNC.
For example, when I log in to my PC and have it's locked, I can't simply type in my password and click the "Enter" key on my Touch Pro 2's physical keyboard, but have to press the "OK" button, using mouse emulated touch. This is somewhat acceptable as I can simply push this button, but I'm really having problems sending messages in for example MSN on the PC, where I, localy, use the Ctrl+Enter command to send each message, as MSN doesn't have a "Send message" button.
I was thinking of using "Rhodium Keyboard Controller GSM/CDMA v1.4" to emulate this through a long "Enter" keyboard press, but have yet to come up with a working solution.
Does anyone here know a solution for this, or is this even possible?
Thanks for your interest
I am sure it must be an option, but is it possible for speech to text to work on the Tab S?
i.s I speak my text messages and it types the words for me. I know it works in Google Now, but how about in the other applications, like text messages/facebook etc?
I know my old Desire phone had the option..
I know Swype keyboard has a Dragon speech to text option. I don't know how well it works but it does work with any app.
I think the Google keyboard also has a google voice typing option. Again I don't know how well it works since I never use it.

try the new app Voice Typing Keyboard VTK. it lets you input text anywhere you can with voice. there is no microphone button to push, just say "listen" or "spelling" when in a text field to start dictation. you can move cursor, do editing formatting, insert symbols punctuation etc all with voice too. has an on-screen keyboard too if you need it. since I do most of my typing with voice, so i hide the on-screen keyboard most of the time
Hi All,
I am a big fan of the auto complete feature of the numerical pad on my M9.
For those that are not familiar with the feature you simply start pressing the key pad numbers that correspond with a contacts name.
Each character has letters associated with it, e.g.: 2 - ABC, 3 - DEF, etc; so if I want to call 'Adam' I start by typing 232...
The only pain point with this excellent feature is if I accidentally press on the CALL button, rather than the contact details then the literal number that I have typed will be called, i.e.: in the case of the 'Adam' example above the number 232 will be called.
This fact unto itself is not a game changer, however every time that I accidentally click on CALL, and a literal number is called it makes it harder to bring a contact up. So once again using the 'Adam' example; when I type 232 - instead of seeing contact details for Adam I instead see 232! The only way around this is to type the fourth character for the contact, e.g.: instead of 232 I now need to type 2326.
And of course if I accidentally click on CALL when 2326 is entered then it is even harder again to bring up my 'Adam' contact; I then have to start typing a surname as well as a given name!!!
This has made it impossible to use the handy feature on some of my contacts. I have tried deleting the cache for the 'Phone' app in the hope of clearing the call history / memory, but this didn't work.
Is there any way to completely erase the key pads history?
Any help would be fantastic.
Kind Regards,
Davo
There's a tab called "call history" in the dialer app (unless you disabled it). There you can tap onto the three dot menu and choose "delete call history". The phone lets you chose which entries you want to delete, then.
Flippy498,
Your a CHAMPION!! Thanks so much
