I got a oneplus 5t, coming from a htc 10. I want to root it and flash lineage os. I already tried it using the method i used for my htc but it never got passed fastboot and even got bricked. I had to reflash to stock android 7.1.1 and then upgrade to android 10. None of the tutorials here mention dm-verity. Even the official xda youtube tutorial vid but other sites do. So what is the deal with that? Is that why i got bricked? I already have an open bootloader so i am now waiting for some help. Can someone please help me?

Ive seen a few but nothing new so i dont know if they would soft brick my device. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it all.
First decide if you want OTA updates because they will end if you root it.
Next, consider the already-rooted alternative.
Then we can answer your questions...
No updates, i like to do it on my own
Will One Click Bootloader Unlock, Root, Recovery Install With Wugfresh Nexus Toolkit: @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381698 suffice for this 2013 nexus 7 with 5.0 installed work for all that?
Nevermind, that link is still down. So im still open to any ideas or leads lol.
unlock bootloader (#4, section "To flash a system image")
install TWRP and accept its rooting offer
install SuperSU app
Done.
Thank you. However im getting bootloop. flashed razor-lrx22g and twrp-3.00-0-flo.img when i reboot to fastboot and then to recovery it simply hangs at twrp, or if i just go for a restart it hangs at the boot screen with the multicolor balls. any suggestions?
No worries at all - it is easy to fix, but why did you flash razor-lrx22g? Didn't you want root/twrp only?
Anyway, now you have to flash the image yet again and let it boot completely to Android user interface. Then do the 3(-1) steps I posted earlier.
Hi folks.
Been lurking for a while, but this is my first post.
I've been looking into rooting my SM-G870W (Galaxy S5 Active, Canadian, Telus) for a while now. It's currently updated to Android 6.0.1.
I've read a lot of different information and I've held off on actually trying it because of several posters saying they've bricked their phone or had no luck.
To the best of my knowledge and research, there is no "plug and play" app or program that will root automatically. Is this accurate?
I have read of manual recommendations or guides that say they work.
This site, being the foremost authority as far as I'm concerned, is my last step in research.
Can anyone please advise if this is possible for this phone and version?
If so, is there an existing guide that is reputable that I could follow?
I thank you in advance.
A little late to post. But I am having no luck rooting my SM-870W on Telus. I used Odin and the CF-Auto-Root-kltecanactive-kltevlactive-smg870w for Marshmallow 6.0.1
I just end up with "Recovery is SeAndroid enforcing"
I then have to flash back the stock rom
Tomorrow when I have time, I am going to downgrade back to Lollipop to root it. If successful, then I will use Flashfire to update to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and see how that goes.
Well so far I successfully downgraded my phone back to Lollipop and rerooted it. . Tomorrow or next week will try updating with flashfire
I tried again to root marshmallow using flashfire, and it boot looped. So just going to stay on Lollipop and keep rooted. Will probably upgrade phone soon anyway. I don't know how others on youtube etc say they have done it, but it's not working for me.
Thanks for posting
I too have the same model phone and I'm running into the exact same issue you are. Thanks for posting which lets me know I'm not the only one facing this problem

Tried to install TWRP in order to root phone, following instructions I found online. Ended up in bootloop then tried flashing ROM using Fastboot and hard bricked the phone. Paid someone with authorized Mi account to unbrick, but they wouldn't root the phone for me.
My phone is now Android 10/MIUI 12 Indonesia ROM (supports call recording), and I still want to root it.
I have read on this forum that RN8P with Android 10 cannot be safely rooted, but that thread was from Feb 2020, so I'm wondering if anything has changed since then.
I have found this tutorial that claims to be 100% safe for rooting this phone with Android 10/MIUI 12. Can anyone comment on how safe it is?
Thanks.
I have a stock Pixel C with the latest original Google updates that were last available before Google stopped supporting it, and now I want to install the lineage os microg. I searched online for guides on how to root the Pixel C but am still confused. Anybody have a guide or tips on how to get started? I found this guide about how to unlock bootloader https://clickitornot.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-any-google-pixel-device/, but not sure what else to do and what guides are outdated that might brick my device.
Yes, I am also searching. I got the bootloader unlocked, but now I don't know what to do.
I used Linux Mint for unlocking.
I need help to get twrp and the new rom on the device.
Please help me!
use ADB comand , flash twrp recovery for pixel c and then reboot to twrp recovery ,then flash Magisk zip by twrp finish .
Hello everyone. Would like to apologize for my English for now. write about Google Translate. Don't get my Note 10 plus rooted with Android 12 UI 4.1. Have tried a lot as soon as I restart the device root on magisk is lost. Have the current magisk 25.1 and the last original software from Samsung. Gives is somewhere a guide where works. Should I take twrp or try to root via odin.. The key combination when booting does not work either... Thanks in advance
I am also having problem unlocking bootloader and rooting. XDA new design is crap cant find anything
There is no one who has a Guide that works.
