Hey everyone,
I have this old device that I want to root, but for whatever reason I cannot root it.
1. I unlocked the bootloader (Android and boot)
2. Boot to TWRP (I have many issues with the encryption password but if I try enough times, it finally lets me in)
3. Install SuperSu+Aroma+SR4
4. Says it's installed successfully
5. Boot into Android.
6. Install SuperSu APK, says it's not rooted.
What am I missing here? I have gone through multiple guides no luck.

Hi guys, this morning I decided to root ny tablet. I flashed CWM custom recovery and then installed universal android root zip file through the recovery. My goal was to unlock the full potential of Lucky Patcher by having unlocked Root permissions. I succeeded in installing the zip file, and everything was perfect. Unfortunately after custom patching Google play with LP, it kept crashing on startup. So (my bad) I decided to revert to factory settings. By doing this I'm now stuck in this never ending bootloop. I tried reinstalling .zip file through the use of ADB sideload, but when I exit that menu to reboot the device after having installed the .zip the device boots in CWM recovery mode. I really need your help as I'M very new to these type of things. Thand you
Back to stock ROM and start all over again
My oneplus 3 was rooted (oxygen 3.2.5 maybe) but I installed the update 3.2.6 today from phone by going into settings. When the phone got updated my root does not work anymore. Please help.
I forgot how I rooted my phone before but it was still on android 6 when I rooted.
When I reboot I still get the black screen saying the device can't be trusted because xxxxxxxxxx Is unlocked, dont remember what.
Usb debugging is on as well as oem unlocked ( these options are still showing unlocked when i went to settings but don't know if they are ACTUALLY unlocked.
Xposed luck patcher, etc not working
Root checker says root not installed properly
Used twrp before.
Also is there any way that I can re-root my phone again without data loss?
Its my first post ever in any form so dont know about posting much.
You can mail me too at [email protected].
Thanks
Try flashing Super su manually from Recovery
Flash latest SuperSU (I think it is 2.78) in twrp. Flash xposed module in twrp too
If you did the official update from Settings > System Updates, then you are most likely back to stock recovery as well. You're going to have to re flash twrp before you can flash root and xposed. You will not lose data by performing any of these steps as your bootloader is still unlocked.

Download twrp
Boot to fastboot
fastboot boot sometwrp.img
Flash supersu from temporary twrp

If you had root and custom recovery (TWRP) then you couldn't have updated by this method as it wouldn't have worked. You need to reflash SuperSU in TWRP as others have stated.
Much simple: from recovery (hope you're having TWRP installed) flash latest SuperSU and Xposed zip file.
Then Wipe Cache/Dalvik, then reboot in System.
If you won't to lose root, you should consider a custom rom like FreedomOS, that provides SuperSU binary by itself (even Xposed, if I'm not wrong).
Backgrond: Fresh new device. I unlocked bootloader through the all in one toolbox here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3358711) to unlock bootlaoder successfully and install twrp ( I chose this version TWRP 3.2.1 Blu Spark OP5T).
I unlock my bootloader successfully and then tried to install superSU through twrp. I realized at the time of TWRP installation, that I didnt have SUPERsu on my device so I booted up my phone, downloaded Super SU from (http://www.supersu.com/download) and then went back into recovery mode. I was able to install the file through twrp but now I'm stuck on the OnePlus Screen.
On the toolkit screen there was a message saying
"if you flash a modified recovery and you dont root your stock rom (or flash another rom) you will brick you phone.
Is that what I did? Should I flash a custom rom?
I can access fastboot, recovery, etc and use adb sideload. I thought maybe I installed the wrong super user file so I flashed a new one through adb sideload (this file SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502) but that didnt do anything either.
What should I do?
Hi guys it's been a while since I've rooted any devices but decided to root my LG G PAD 8.3 (V500), since it is so outdated. I'm gonna go over exactly what I did on how I got here to better understand. Sorry in advance for the long winded post.
-Anyway, I had to downgrade to 4.2.2 by using the LG Flash Tool 2014.
-Then, I rooted my device by running root.bat Also, I had SuperSU when I rooted.
-After rooting, I installed TWRP via the play store, downloaded the most recent twrp.img and flashed it via the app. It took me forever to get to recovery by pressing power+volume down and then pressing power+volume down+volume up. But after what felt like 20+ tries, I got to TWRP recovery.
-I wiped my phone and flashed the most recent Lineage ROM. Unfortunately, after flashing the ROM, I could not flash GApps because it rebooted to the ROM after flashing. TWRP let me know that I had to update TWRP and since I did not have the play store and I was once again having trouble getting into recovery, I downloaded the most recent TWRP apk.
-When trying to open the apk, it gave me a "can't open file" message which I didn't understand why. After rebooting, for some reason, it then let me run the TWRP apk and installed the TWRP app. This is when I found out that I was no longer rooted because TWRP notified me. I double checked with root checker and indeed I was no longer rooted. I have no idea when or how that happened.
-Again, I couldn't get into TWRP recovery until I plugged in my phone to my PC and for whatever reason, it helped me get into recovery. I wiped the phone and proceeded to flash Lineage and GApps.
-I read that by flashing SuperSu I may regain root, so downloaded an updated SuperSu, went into recovery and flashed SuperSu. When rebooting, the LG screen came up with a message at the top left corner reading "secure booting error! Boot certification verify". At that point, I was in a bootloop and had to go into recovery, wipe and flash again minus supersu. So I am now on Lineage with GApps and no root.
How do I regain root? And anyone know how I was able to lose it? Back in the day when I was into flashing, I never had these problems and never lost root out of nowhere like this.
Also, if I wanted to get back to stock LG 4.2.2, how would I go about that? I know that currently, I can't use the LG Flash Tool 2014 because my current ROM does not have a USB Software option in order for the tool to recognize the tablet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
I have an ATT LG V40 on android 8.1. The phone is already rooted and has magisk installed. I have been unable to get TWRP installed so I can flash a custom rom. It seems that being on android 8.1 is causing issues, but I am not really sure. I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/twrp-lg-v40-judypn.3970111/ and when I send the comand to flash TWRP in the command window is says the flash is finished and my phone boots up, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
You need to use LGUP to get to 9
Noob question but did you installed and tried magisk manager(I bet you already have) and flashify(searchable on Google) (magisk manager grants root to flashify and flashify installs twrp from storage)?
Are you certain that you're booting in to recovery? Many phones have an advanced reboot menu option on the developer settings. If yours doesn't I recommend an app like Simple Reboot.
If you're not certain that it's installing the recovery correctly have you just tried installing TWRP.zip from Magisk?

Which 'command', specifically, are you typing in when you say you are 'when I send the command to flash twrp'? The only command in those directions are to boot twrp, not flash it.
After you boot it, then you need the advanced section so you can recovery ramdisk, which will inject twrp into the current boot partition (and it keeps boot intact).
If you want to use current aosp roms, then follow the 'metadata' sections as you'll need that version of twrp for those roms.
