Hi
I have a RN8P Global 12.5.1
How can i unlock the bootloader whithout loosing data, exactly App's Data. And rooting it
It's important for me to save it, but whithout Root, Titanium don't work.
Or is there any other solution to backup App's Data with another software or a Windows software.
Thanks in advance for your help
unlocking bootloader while retaining data is not possible, sadly.. but most of your data will be saved and restored with Google account. you can also use MIUI backup if you're still gonna use MIUI after unlocking

Hi
Thanks for your answer, is there any solution to backup App's Data ?
With MIUI backup, no App's Data are saved, also with Google.
Or transfer data to another device ?
Thanks in advance

hmm based on experience after unlocking bootloader, and even flashing new ROM, most of my apps data got restored by Google like app settings and preferences, messages, home settings, etc.
which specific app do you need to restore data on? perhaps it has a way to backup and restore data, like in most messaging apps. if it's a game, you can connect it to Google Play Games too
just treat it like you're transferring to a new device/phone, and you'll be okay and won't miss much

Hi
Thanks for your reply
It's not game's data, but apps like CCTV apps with special data.
I tried to transfer it in a new Samsung Tab, but only the apps are restored, not the apps data.
Titanium do it verry well but with the root

hey guys, quick question.
in titanium backup there are options to backup your apps and there are options to back up your "system data", or both at once.
what is this "system data"? is it your game saves a such, or something else?
thanks for clarifying!
I believe system data is the data for the actual rom. I don't back up system data since I'm always changing roms. Last thing I want to do is mix up rom data. I just back up apps and data that would be your saved games, past sms, mms, etc.

Yeah, what he said. You can run into a lot of problems trying to restore system data while flashing between roms.

Actually I backup some of the system data a lot, cause it saves your bluetooth pairings, wifi-settings, dictionary..It's pretty helpful when switching ROMs. You obviously can select what things you do want to back up or not when running the batch.
Thanks for the info guys.
so when i backup an app, say i back up mini squadron, my save game goes with it?

The big "how do you restore your apps and settings after flashing a ROM" thread?
Hi all,
Just rooted my phone a couple of days ago and been playing around with some ROMS.
Now I've found one to my liking so I am installing configuring everything again but what if there's a new version of my ROM I want to install, I have to do everything all over again which is a bit silly in this modern time
As I see it
- you have apps installed from market
- you have manually installed apps (e.g. modded widgets, applications and stuff)
I currently use Astro to backup the apps, this works well but
- the market doesn't recognize the apps (to do with market cache I suppose)
workaround: you can use the atrackdog app to follow application updates
- it doesn't restore app settings
some of my apps have backup mechanisms of their own but not all
I've flashed a GB rom now and I've selected the google backup option, is this reliable? What does it exactly backup?
Any other tools available? I heard about titanium back but also read stories where it doesn't always work.
Anyhoew: what do you use? what works for you?
Would be great if we could consolidate everything here and figure out the best/easiest way.
Cheers
B

Yes, they do.
ok great so how's the best way to use this?
I've downloaded the free version, and the busybox
I guess I have to use the filter for files of type "user" so I only see my apps?
which batch should I run then, backup all user data + system data?
*edit will this restore stuff like my launcher settings and design, email accounts in enhanced email and stuff like that too?
cheers
B
Don't know, just used it to backup my Angry Birds saves as the rest I do from scratch anyway

Almost everything will be restored. Free version will prompt for each app
Swyped with my Starburst based Desire. Forgive any typos!
Be careful backing up system settings though as they often don't restore very well on different ROMs, i broke my first flash on Cyanogen by restoring bluetooth settings from a Sense ROM.
I use My backup Pro app for this
And I can backup and restore everything but the widgets
Open Titanium, click Backup/restore, hold down the menu key then go to batch, then backup all user apps. Don't back up system settings, as this will conflict with the new OS and cause instabilities. Android should auto backup Wi-Fi and calendars online for you, mine does, but it's Gingerbread 2.3.3 I'm not sure if this feature was around in the Froyo days.
Everything will be restored as it was, except widgets on the homescreen, you'll need to remove them and put them back on, all settings for them will save so you don't have to mess about customizing things.
You've probably worked it out by now, but just in case this is my 2 cents.
I'm using Titanium Backup for the Apps.
For the Messages I've got MyBackup and MIUI Backup but I prefer MyBackup because I've got different Roms.
But I never restore the System Settings.
I just don't factory reset, format, wipe or however you call it when I flash a rom, I lose the texts though.
As title, I'm looking to make the switch between roms, but would like to restore all my installed apps with ALL of their data.
Using Titanium, I found it possible to back up all my apps, but when restored I have to go through and put in usernames, passwords etc, as well as losing my message history and so on.
Is there a way to port all of this information over, or have I missed a setting in Titanium?
Thanks in advance.
You can do it with Titanium. Just select in the settings that you want to backup system apps, and restore system apps.
But it is a really bad idea. All roms are a little different, and if they built the system apps a little different you can break something by restoring them.
That is the reason ROM developers ask you to wipe the data partition when going from another ROM. If you just restore everything that was there before you did the wipe then you might as well not do the wipe...
Hiya, thanks for the reply, but I meant all of MY installed apps (facebook, media players etc). Not the stuff built into the rom
Is this possible?

Yes with titanium.
For backing up your apps passwords and other confidential data your phone needs root access

Messages is a system app. That's why I assumed you wanted those. To backup all your regular apps one time you press the batch button (the paper with the check mark on) and select backup all user apps. When you restore you press the batch button, scroll down, and press "Restore missing apps with data".
Added a picture with a ring around the button.
I have used this for sms backup before: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync
You can also use Helium to do the backups. Helium also backs up the texts, WiFi access points etc. However make sure you do a full backup otherwise it'll only backup the data and you'll have to download each app from the play store as you restore them.

Ace, thanks all! Ported over from Resurrection remix to ARHD and had little trouble. Only missing a few logins, but largely everything was there!
Thanks very much for all the info
Hi,
I'm having some problems with the backup of the data from my HTC one X.
Í have a new Phone, and was hoping that some apps where backed up to the google cloud (mostly game progress).
But this does not seem to be happening.
Cause it is not restoring the progress on the new Phone (HTC One).
Now I was trying to find out if I could see when the app was last backed up, and according to the internet this should be possible through the google Dashboard on internet.
I can't post an image or link to this, because of spam protection I guess.
So I hope you guys know what I mean.
But somehow I can't seem to find this.
Also, how can I make a full backup right now of the Phone with default google backup, not third-party apps.
Thanks in advance!

There is no way to make a full backup without third-party apps. The Google cloud backup service MAY backup app data if the app developer enabled it. To backup all app data you will need to root your device and use an app such as Titainium backup.

Thans for the reply.
According to the developer page, they have enabled it.
If I start the game on the new Phone, it askes me te restore a cloud save. But is is 1 month old.
That's why I would like to see what google exactly backups to the google cloud.
And it should be possible according to many posts on the web. Only I can't seem to find it.
Hi
my phone has become unusable as my Contacts Storage app data keeps filling up internal memory. As soon as I try and uninstall an app to free some memory the CS app fills it up. I have checked with Diskusage app and it's now at 3.5GB+. Tried to backup contacts to perform reset but Contacts app as well as many other apps do not open due to lack of available memory as it is all filled up by Contacts Storage. I would not like to clear data from the Contacts Storage app and lose all contacts... but what to do? Is there any viable alternative?
Thanks
Marco
Hi there!
It sounds like you have a buggy app. Is Contacts storage part of the Operating system or is it a Play Store app?

Hi, I agree, this might be a problem with the app which is a Samsung app. From the net it seems some other people had the same problem on Note II, S5

If your N3N is rooted already, check this link out. You could make a manual backup of your contacts first using that method and then factory reset or flash STOCK back to it.
If you're not rooted, consider trying it out?[you should know beforehand that this will DEFINITELY trip your KNOX counter]:angel::angel:

Thanks for the advice. It's not rooted unfortunately. I will try that. Does routing erase the contact data on the phone?
I was hoping to find a way to fix the buggy app, whatever it is, but I'm afraid I have no other option.

Oh no, it does no such thing. Rooting only allows you permission to write to your system partition. See here and here for more information about rooting an android device.
Don't rush for a quick fix. Take your time to ensure your data is backed up safely before attempting any repairs or *risky* operations on your phone. Be safe, and enjoy :highfive:

Hi, I deleted 2GB of apps... and the problem disappeared. The Contacts storage space went back to 40MB.
I backed up the contacts with Super backup and then rooted the phone anyway.
Is there any way to see (using some root enabled app) which app is causing the issue of bloated contacts storage, after I reinstall the basic/main apps like FB, Google+ etc?
I have found some logging apps on play store but not sure which one might help

That's weird!
I'm glad you got it fixed either way. I don't think that that is normal behaviour for a system app, especially if you're SURE it's the one behaving like that. It seems the entire OS might be buggy.
Best bet is to backup data, make Nandroid backup, and flash back to STOCK or a custom TW custom ROM... Start afresh - so to speak
