Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has arrived (Germany) - Samsung Galaxy Watch

My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic arrived this morning at 10:30.
It was a surprise for me, I was expecting a parcel from Samsung with a new case and Smarttags for my S21 Ultra so was not really paying attention to the DHL emails, but an additional box came with 4 Classic inside.
I thought it may be just luck because I am 5 minutes away from Samsung Germany head office but looking at Reddit seems a few people have them today or shipped today.
So far it is very nice, cannot choose Google Assistant yet but happy so far.

Cool. Looks sharp

Yeah my 46mm Classic in Silver arrived today, a week early.....
Not complaining although the straps havent arrived yet and I hate this silicon white one!

I have the standard strap but think I might get the leather one when it's available.

My black Watch 4 has arrived and it's a definite upgrade from my Watch 2. Good to have a blood oxygen monitor. And great being able to use Gpay instead of the clunky Samsung Pay Plus. Also useful having Google Keep Notes and Google Maps on the watch. Not sure about battery life...seems to drain pretty quickly. But I've been playing around with it a lot and it's early days.

Yup, happy to have Notes and Maps.
Still would prefer Fit over Samsung Health but not everything will work in there directly even if you can install and choose as primary.
Batter has gone from 100% to 58% for me in 6.5 hours..
Including setup and play time, 20 minutes tracked walk and always on screen.

I was going to order the Classic in Silver but didn’t like the white straps. I noticed on the main page there where two silver options. The other silver option was for the watch with no straps. I ordered it and the black leather strap. Both watch and strap arrived yesterday. Two separate boxes. The watch box was sealed but inside the watch had fingerprints all over it. There was no protective film on the display.
Has anyone else received a grubby watch and do was there any protective film over the display?
I cleaned up the watch and fortunately there were no scratches. Attached the straps and it looks good. Not sure about the battery life but I will give it a few days.

Maybe because you did the choosing watch and strap thing?
Could be lack of watch on its own at launch so they have to remove band manually?
Although should not make them take film off.
Mine had plastic film over screen and box fully sealed.

Mine had protective film on screen.

Congrats! Looks sweet!
I have the black 44mm pre-ordered and due August 27... can't wait!

i agree with you, google pay , maps and keep are really welcome but also google messages and gboard are great additions
unfortunately after a couple of days i must say that the battery drain is increased compared to the active2 but it's worth it!

Good case for Verizon LTE version?

Hi,
Any Verizion LTE user out there?
I was looking for a good case for LTE version tab but it's really hard to find
or the compatibility is unknown.
Any suggestions?
i bought my case from this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240993
it's really not a beautiful case but for it's price, i can't complain anything. The case just get its job done. BTW I had wery good customer experience with that seller, he quickly replied every email i sent to him and shipping is fast ( 2-3 days )
I got this one and LOVE it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005PC7VG4/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details
I originally had a Belkin something or other, but it was big, bulky, and just didn't seem to fit right. I got the cheap one on Amazon thinking it would probably suck, but it didn't! And the price is amazing.
2nd the pyroskin 360. Just make sure if you do order it for the LTE model you get the V2 version.
Last I checked they were out of stock on the black ones though. The brown is dark and elegant looking as well though (have a spare in that color).
What I like about it is that it rotates which allows you to watch videos in landscape mode with the plug coming out of the top of the tablet (tablet rotated upside down).
Offers good protection too, I've already dropped the tablet in the case from about 4 feet onto one of the corners on pavement. Case has some marks but the tablet was unscathed thankfully.

Help for the first time (pun?) buyer

Hi all,
I've recently come back into the android fold and I'm currently using the Nexus 6P (fantastic phone btw) and now I'm branching out to other android devices.
I've always wanted a smart watch and I feel now is the time to dive in. After a lot of research that's left me with two options and I'm torn between the Moto 360 (46mm) and the Huawei watch. I've read countless reviews and they both have their pro's and con's, such as cost, display, battery, looks, functionality and I've read into the issues surrounding the charging cradles which only makes my decision more difficult.
I'm all for customization and can spend hours on XDA reading and trying tings regarding my phone and android in general which made me take note of in terms of support and activity the Moto 360 has a lot more attention on XDA, I appreciate that this is most likely due to the Moto 360 being more main stream and has been out for longer, not to mention the V1 lead the charge for android wear but user support is very important to me.
At the moment I'm not sure how I feel about the flat tyre which appears to most of the gripes for the 360 however on investigation several watches faces appear to have overcome this issue to some extent and many users after some time appear to have forgotten all about it, plus it does serve some practicality with the ambient display so it's not all bad.
Any thoughts? Pro's and con's? Have you owned both watches or come from the 360?
Hua Wei watch has sapphire crystal. Enough said.

Sounds like you want moto 360. Both are great. Huawei watch much more nicer and more classy expensive looking. Moto has it in bigger size as well, so if u like bigger watch faces then you need moto.
I personally love my black Huawei. It is worth every penny. I could care less about customization and user support forums. I buy technology to help me save time in my busy life. I don't have time nor the interest to be reinventing android wear on my watch.

Bingo! Can't say enough about the durability of this watch also. Only wish it were more water proof.

I don't believe the moto has a speaker either.....does it? Plus have you seen the display on the moto in ambient mode? Holy s...! It's completely pixilated. When I'm inside the house, office, mall, anywhere other than outside, the huawei ambient mode is easily visible, and completely crystal clear. No pixelation. The watches are in these ambient modes most of the time, especially if you have tilt to wake off like me. Please watch videos on you tube comparing this ambient mode with the moto.....its so nasty and ghetto looking.
My decision came down to the fact that the Moto 360 had a flat tire. I wanted a fully circular watch. I think the biggest downside to the Huawei Watch is the horrible charging mechanism. It's a pain to work with especially when I have to quickly charge my watch using a portable charger and throw it in my bag.
Hi all,
After much consideration I ended up ordering the 46mm Moto 360. It basically came down to price at the end of the day. The Huawei watch is £329 with the standard leather strap, I was able to order via a discount code a 46mm Moto 360 with a 22mm metal band and a micro Knurl Bezel for £280. Both are added extras above the standard Moto 360.
I may come back to the Huawei watch as I'm still concerned about the flat tyre and pixel density, however given the extras, screen size and the cost I felt it was too good of an option to let go.
Thanks for all the advice above!

I am surprised about the dislikes of the HW charging mechanism. I own both HW and Gear S2 Classic. I see no advantage or disadvantage of either charging means. I hold the HW just above the dock and it snaps in place - nothing difficult. Even when using a portable charger in my bag, while hardly ever needed though, the HW stays connected to the dock. Same with the Gear S2. It is also easy to put gear on dock as it snaps on, but I am not especially pleased that there are no connector pins. I just don't care....
I haven't checked yet if Gear S2 remains docked in my bag. I think the HW is better locked though.

Actually I only paid £289 on Amazon for the black leather strap. I then bought a brown leather, a stainless steel band and mesh band on Amazon, pretty much identical to the originals and spent about £320 in total. Not bad for the watch and 4 straps!

I got a pretty good price on my Huawei Watch a week ago. I live in EU but ordered from USA. Even with import tax and 2 day delivery it was still cheaper than anything in the rest of the world (and I checked). It ended up costing $427/£290/€390.
I ordered silver with leather band which I am not a fan of but mesh is already on the way. Hopefully it doesn't look too feminine.
I did get stupid USA charger which is useless in Sweden, but I have a converter at home (and it costs anyway like $5) so it's all good.
This is the watch I bought, although mine was cheaper at time. $310 or so, probably some Christmas price cut:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013LKLIB0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I decided to order both!, I ordered the Huawei watch through Amazon at £329 with the metal strap. I felt safer in the knowledge the strap is made for the watch and comes under the same warranty with Amazon, plus Amazon are so good with returns I thought why not?
I haven't played with it too much yet as I am *still* awaiting on the moto 360. They've had the order since the 27th December but they've yet to dispatch it despite the order page saying it's ready to go.
First thoughts are - The presentation on this product is fantastic, it felt like I just bought an expensive piece of kit (technically I did?) The box, the decorating, the presentation was all very well done. It felt like a first class way of putting their device on display and for the first time in a long time, I spent so much time admiring the detail and effort that must of went into making this. However, whilst it is incredibly fancy I couldn't help but feel that once my excitement wore off, that this poor box will go into storage never to be seen and ideally with that in mind, would have liked the box it shipped in to be less deluxe so that the overall watch price would have been reduced.
The watch face feels small, which is odd as I don't even have anything to compare it to, I haven't worn a watch in months and like I said the 360 isn't here, but yet the screen feels small. The watch feels premium, screen is clear and crisp. Battery life seems better then I was expecting but again, I haven't dabbled with it too much just encase I return it.
The charging base seems a pain and could have been done better I feel. Why not have Qi charging? Or at least a decent stand? On that note, why not put that fantastic presentation box I mentioned to use and have that be part of the charging cycle.
The watch appears to be laggy, it doesn't seem fluid between the cards, or getting into the menus. Again I haven't set this watch up or spent that much time getting to know my way round it, plus with it being fairly new firmware updates should iron this out.
Overall I am happy with the watch, the box, the style, the feel and even the screen despite me thinking that it's kinda small. It's a lot of tech under a watch screen which is nothing short of amazing. However the cost of £329 is hard to swallow, I may return it for the leather strap one at £289 or may return it in favour of the 360 (if it ever gets here!)
I have used several watches. The Hauwei does lag some. I notice it more going into settings, it takes a second to open. Sometimes I think I missed a tap, but a second tap makes it go haywire. The hardware is identical to other watches that are smooth as butter, so it has to be a software setting. Perhaps they have the min cpu speed to slow or something. I dunno. It could be ironed out with an update or custom kernel.
The charging dock is kind of a pain compared to others. My LG G Watch has the same setup except the dock had a contoured lip around so it would slide into place with ease. It was also square = easier to align. The circle hauwei, when I dock, I have to semi spin it until it latches in. Even my ZenWatch2 just had a small magnetic clip and would snap on almost automatically.
The Hauwei is small. For me thats great because I am a smaller dude. My LG and Asus were big. The ZenWatch2 was good because of the curved screen. But my friends always called it my iPad Mini Watch.
The Motorola 360 has nice features but lacks a very important one; no speaker. And trust me, it is very important.
Heres why:
A watch is designed to give you personal freedom away from your phone. So I tend to not cling to it as much. It gets left on my desk, couch, charger, etc. When a call comes in... you find yourself scrambling to get to your phone. You typically do not have time to grab it and answer it, without some sort of awkward silence where you answered it from the watch and still in the process of grabbing the watch. Also when I am oncall for work, and in my pool swimming, I can dismiss unimportant emails and grab calls without having to kill myself trying to get out, dry off, and answer it before it goes to VM.
Food for thought. The speaker support was what I was waiting on to upgrade my LG G Watch. If you are going for just a cheap round smart watch, just buy the Moto 360 1st gen. I don't see the difference between them. Still has the flat tire and ****ty battery life.

Should I get a Moto 360 1st Gen?

Hello,
I've seen some reviews but those were when the watch costed 250$ and that was a long time ago. I'm not 100% sold on the smartwatch idea. Could you guys convince me to buy this watch, give me the pros and the cons... The price I have for this watch, refurbished, is around 85$ + 29$ shipping.
Thanks,
Best regards,
Sincerely yours,
Isac
You should pay a bit more and get the 2nd generation. This one is not going to get the update out later this year.
Although I'm happy with mine, battery lasts all day and I like notifications, controlling music and like secure Bluetooth feature to unlock phone.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I wouldn't buy it. No more updates is already confirmed. The other watches on the market aren't as good. The 2nd gen and sport from motorola are not as good looking but are better. However, Motorola is basically lenovo now and the guy who made some of their best designs (moto x, 1st moto 360) just quit so their quality will go down. If I were you I'd wait for the upcoming watches. The urbane LTE is awesome and far and away the best watch on the market but is godawful ugly. I'd wait for someone to build a watch with a sim card like that so it can replace your phone when needed but look better than that.
I'm really happy with mine, picked it up for £100 (stainless steel version), the battery life isn't brilliant but I pop it on the charger every night anyway. Mainly used for notifications, HRT monitor, and Endomondo.

I paid just under £80 for mine with the leather strap (didn't fancy the metal strap catching hairs on my wrist or the look). I've got a pebble and thought it'd be handy having them both, with this one for good wear and the pebble for not so good wear. The battery lasts about 16 hours before it drops to 20%, which was a bit of shock after several days with the pebble, to the extent where I thought of returning it but I'm ok with it now. Given what I paid for it, I'm not bothered about the 2nd gen and what it might have, as the gen 1 still looks great and does everything I need it to - such as give me the time, date, weather, notifications, heart rate, play music, along with things I've yet to find out about... I should imagine. Not overly impressed by the colour screen, as its not any clearer than the pebble, but will serve its purpose where the pebble may not look quite right. So, in conclusion, I'd say get it.

One Week To Wait For Overkill

An Apple fan a long while, I've stocked up on basically everything. The iPad Pro & The Mac are two I'm happy with. So is the Watch Series 4, but it won't work with android.
So, after pre ordering the Galaxy S10 Plus 1TB in Ceramic White I needed a watch, so I've got Galaxy Watch. After 3 days, during which time I've added a Stainless Steel bessel & leather band, I'm chuffed how this proves me wrong, this is quality,
So on getting these, I've ordered the 2.0 Fast Wireless Charger, Clear View Standing Cover, Whitestone Dome Glass & Spigen Case.
I'll post plenty pictures next week.
Going to be a looooooooooog week.

I just want it for the ram later when I run it on the dock

Question Should I buy?

Hi Guys,
Never owned a fold or flip before and am very on the fence about buying the fold 4. I still have an s10+ which I love but am itching to pull that new phone trigger!
My main concerns are battery life and the crease.
I saw one at the shop today and the crease was more than noticeable, because of the screen protector that I've read shouldn't be removed, it was more like a bubbly mountain range running down the whole phone.
Also I like to play games like diablo immortal and would like more than an hour or 2 of play before the battery dies.
Should I buy or hold off for the s23 ultra? Anyone with hands on experience of the device would be appreciated.
If you have to ask probably not. Previews are saying battery life is excellent and crease very minor to "unnoticeable". For me it's about the fact I'm a heavy tablet user and am tired of having to travel with laptop, phone, and tablet. It's way overpriced for features, but when you think of it as basically like three phone screens, 512G or more, and 5G the price is reasonable.
I use an S-pen for litterally every time I use my note 20 Ultra.
It warns you when you forget to put the pen inside.
That is the only reason that I hesitate.
I also travel a lot and it would be a great replacement of the combi phone and tablet.
I am an old guy and typing/swiping with the pen is important for me.

Do you live close to a store that has a demo unit? That won't answer your battery life question so much but you can at least handle the device and see how you feel in-person about the crease. Most have said the crease is easier to see in videos.
Gaming on most mobile devices is tough on battery life. Really software optimization dependent. There are a few youtube videos out there that talk about performance of different games.

Not sure, don't have the phone yet. But my case from Samsung comes with an spen holder built in.
I do not think it will warn. Doesn't it double also as a stand, removing the pen holder?

Correct for the official Samsung case with S pen holder. You can swap the "part" depending on which one you want to use.
Yes, just for the Samsung dynamic lock screen wallpapers

Samsung has a S pen (dummy capacitance tip) and an S Pen PRO that is Bluetooth connected. While I wait like most of us to receive the phone, case and embedded S-Pen that comes with the case, I am 99% sure only the one with BT will have the warnings. Also, as annoying as it can be, the PRO pen may fit in the case, but will not charge in it (I think) and the charging case it comes with will not fit the Samsung case, as I do not see the sliding piece to allow it? Am I sure? Nope.. Did not get it yet, and did not order the PRO pen ($100 freaking bucks.. WTF?)
So, here is my impression from 48 hours with the phone, moving from an S20+. (first time on a FOLD)
Me in the first 3 hours: 'Oh boy, this was a stupid decision.. it is heavy, bulky , the pen sticks out (with the Samsung stand cover), It is too big to put in a car mount when open, the front cover screen is too small for my old eyes, I am an idiot falling for it'
Me on day 2 actually working with it: ' WOW best decision ever !' . I use the inner screen open where the pen case actually used as my stand, having the top at 45 degrees, and the bottom part as my handwriting area, I can handwrite (using Google keyboard) in several languages, it recognize my handwriting without training, It enhanced my productivity by 25% , it is not to hard to carry in the pocket when folded, I can mount it on my car both folded and open, It charges quicker than I expected wirelessly, and from my laptop when not at my desk, I don't need to open my laptop to review a document (7.6" are enough), I got used to the weight and the front cover is perfect to make calls and look at text messages.. I now leave the office without my laptop bag and do not need to carry a 20 LBS. one.. 263 grams are nothing !!!!!!! "
Does this answer the question if to buy or not?
