Hi, I switched to Visible when they just recently got rid of their data cap on their unlimited plan. I get unlimited data, text and minutes for $40/mos. That includes all taxes and fees. Sounded good. Problem is they're limited on phones that are compatible. I still don't understand why some phones are compatible with their service and some aren't, but was wondering if there was someway to hack the compatibility issue. An S9+ is compatible for Visible. Can I hack it to believe my Note 8 is an S9+? Any other ideas?
I use xfinity mobile and bought their 1 dollar android phone with service and then swapped sims, did this on note 8, and s8+ never had issue. If you have an old android Visible are offering free crappy android free in trade with service, you could try swapping sim, but I don't know if they will activate it or not.
What Type
Was your Note 8 an unlocked phone or a Verizon Note 8 that worked on visible?

It was a Verizon phone that I flashed to an unlocked phone (XAA firmware). Visible will not work on it as far as cellular service goes. LTE works great for internet but I can't receive calls or texts on this phone.
I have a Samsung S9+ and a Pixel 3axl that both work on Visible, but would be nice to use it on my Note 8. Anyone with ideas? I was thinking about trying to trick Visible to see it as an S9 or some other phone that's compatible, but not sure that would work. I've messed with APN settings to match those of the S9+ when it was connected to the Visible mvno network.

Hey I was browsing google for this same issue cause I would like to go to visible and on the samsung threads I found a link to reddit about the proper app settings. I have a flashed U1 note 10plus with the starwars theme on it and the only thing I see on there is it more then likely needs to be U or U1. I cant post links but google " reddit Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Notee 10 Plus purchased directly from Samsung fully working on Visible "
Came from Unlocked Note20 Ultra which I had zero issues with cellular reception on Verizon.
Bought the Unlocked Z Fold3 and have terrible cellular reception in nearly all places I never had issues on the Note20 Ultra.
Are the antenna bands different?
Is the new metal back or frame drastically reducing range?

You got a bad phone. No issues on mine, same as S21ULTRA, and note 20
Try to change your SIM. It helped me.
I also changed the N20U to the FZ3 and I did not notice anything like that. I think the FZ3 has an even better coverage than the Note.
The only difference is that it switches more often from LTE to 3G, thus VoLTE turns off. But it's generally very good.
BTW WiFi coverage is much better.
I'm having the same type of issues. T-mobile here in areas where I had solid 5G or LTE I either have no service or it flips to edge/lte/5g. Probably going to send it back at this point.
Im tmobile and all is the same or better then my notw 10 plus was.
I did get a new sim card for 5g

I used the new sim card from Samsung as well R15. I had T-Mobile do a reset from their end and I did a factor reset and didn't use smart switch this time. I'm going to be traveling today so we'll see if it happens again. Fingers crossed.
T-Mobile in north Texas. I'm getting the same results as my Note 10+ did, using the same sim. 5G data is very fast. May be an issue with yours.
Can we say either way about the cellular performance?
Has anyone seen a video comparing F2 vs F3 cellular performance?

Don't use SmartSwitch if migrating to a different device or OS version... its not that smart.
Probably ok for migrating just your contacts though.
Next reload on my 10+ I'll test it same to same and see how it does. Definitely don't use it to back up critical data though... remember Kies?
AT&T in N Texas, from N20U to ZF3...Same. I get some network issues occasionally.
You might need a new sim, I'm thinking about doing that myself.
My fold is also the unlocked from Sammy.

New sim, install yourself, handle it like a stick of ram.
ESD can damage it; very little built in out of circuit protection. Most phone store salespeople handle them extremely carelessly... you pay the price when it fails sometimes even months, years latter. Most sim cards fail because of previous ESD exposure just like ram sticks.

Oh, I'm familiar. Build computers before, always upgrade my RAM myself, and have 3 Pi's running 3D printers. But that info is always helpful to someone.
I've noticed this too in low coverage areas. My oneplus 7t

Why not? I used smart switch with no issues at all. Transferred everything from my oneplus 7t to the z fold 3. All it does is transfer general data and install the apk files that were on your previous data partition. It doesn't transfer any device specific apps or files.
Please back up your comments with reason and/or experience so you don't have people questioning things that they then have to spend ample time looking up

Lots of needlessly destroyed ram sticks out there...
Sims may have some input protection but you see how small they are.

I've seen it screw up myself with contacts.
Seen it's predecessor Kies screw up.
If it works, fine, but don't rely on it.
It can save home settings, themes, etc and that can cause issues especially between devices.
Don't kill the messenger... others here have had trouble with it as well
It is not clear to me whether all problem are with 5G reception, 4G, or switching between the two.
I'm having terrible reception issues with my Z3. My network keeps shutting off and on. USA Verizon.
I have to undo what I wrote early. The Z3 has serious coverage problem. Very often, the signal goes missing, or the 3G-4G-5G networks switch like crazy
Broken record poster asks if this is a VZW problem in the US, or a bigger problem?
Also, there are problems with the phone folded or open?

Depending on my testing
Hello All,
I have been facing a weird issue with my phone. What happens is that my mobile data randomly stops working. I will see the sign in the status bar but the arrows that show that data is being sent and received (for the internet to work) only shows the sending/uploading arrow and not the receiving/downloading arrow.
I am unable to recreate the issue on demand it just happens randomly. I have tried everything on the internet and so far nothing is working right now.
So now I am asking the xda community for support.
Let me know what info I can provide further to help diagnose this problem.
Thank you.
I have seen this problem in other S21 FE and even in the snapdragon variant, there is no solution yet, only apply warranty.

Went to Samsung and they are saying there is nothing wrong with the phone. How to claim warranty?
@mahroze
Same issue I am facing with my Samsung S21 FE(Indian variant). In Samsung community, multiple people have reported the same issue for Galaxy S21 Ultra(Exynos variant).
S21 ultra mobile data issue. - Samsung Members
S21 ultra mobile data not working. - Samsung Members
S21 ultra Mobile data problem. - Samsung Members
Dual sim mobile data issue still not resolved. - Samsung Members
The only workaround I found was to disable the second sim and then data was not getting stopped randomly.
I have submitted this issue along with logs in the Samsung members app multiple times. But there is no confirmation about this issue or fix plan from their side.
It's really annoying that a basic feature is not working properly!!!
Dec 2021 I brought a second hand s20 FE 5g. Everything was good in that phone except network. It had no proper carrier aggregation support even though it had when it got released! Sold it immediately because of network issues. What is the use of phone if it doesn't do its basic job like connectivity properly. Brought s21 FE recently thinking that samsung might have done some work by looking into their previous failure. And they indeed did! For 3 weeks that is!!! Now, Forget about CA. Can't even use 4g internet properly. Even with single sim! Internet suddenly goes on strike for no good reason. Have to toggle Aeroplan mode on/off. I still don't understand samsung. They know that they need work in handling network properly and yet they ignore it. My 4 year old Redmi note 7 pro which I brought for 8k gets continues CA with same sim in same area and a 55k so called flagship phone can't handle that properly! Hats off Samsung.
Same thing is happening with me, it happens only for second sim.
I wish Samsung fixes it with the updates.
Using exynos version
Posting here a quick fix, may be it'll help someone.
If you are using two sims and facing this issue.
Recommendation is to switch one sim network to 2g/3g and keep the other data sim to 5g/lte/3g/2g, it'll fix occasional disconnection of network.

Call tech support for your phone company and say you want them to do a line refresh. It's not you, it's them. But before you do that, enable Visual Voice Mail (or whatever app you have) and retrieve all your voice mails because the line refresh wipes them from their storage.
I had an S20 on Metro that had problems getting 5G in places that definitely had it. Then it got to where at home it would only stay on 5G for a short while. It got worse and worse to where it flat out wouldn't switch to 5G. I called support. Went through everything they could think of.
I spent $400 on another S20. SAME #^%##$^ THING! NO 5G!
I called support again and after telling them I'd bought another phone and it did just like the other one, that's when they mentioned the line refresh. Been working great ever since. And this S20 wasn't used by a 24/7 texter so it doesn't have the keyboard burned into the screen like the other one, which I just sold today for $350.

Hi Galane, unfortunately, its not that i have bad signal on 5G, its that i can't even select 5G in the mobile networks settings. the max i'm able to get is 4G even though the phone is a 5G phone.

That was my problem. The line refresh fixed it.
I have a Samsung S21FE (Snapdragon) model SM-G990U bought from Samsung and originally configured for Verizon. I've used it on the Verizon network since I got it, but just recently switched to T-Mobile. The phone is still using the Verizon firmware however data IS working, as well as calling, texting, and voicemail. But there are still a few things that don't seem quite right and I'm wondering if a firmware update would solve it (also, what is the best to update the firmware?).
For instance, I used to see "5G UW" when I was on Verizon, and now on T-Mobile it should display "5GUC" but I'm just seeing "5G". Also, when it boots up I still see the Verizon logo. Also, even when it's displaying "5G" I am not getting true 5G speeds --> more in the range of 70-100 Mbps. I use the OpenSignal app and it tells me other T-Mobile users in my area are getting way faster speeds. I thought the S21FE had all the necessary bands to get full 5G but either it doesn't, or maybe the firmware is blocking it?
For comparison, we also just switched my daughter's Galaxy S21 at the same time from Verizon to T-Mobile. On her phone, the first time she booted up with the T-Mobile SIM card, she started seeing the T-Mobile logo on bootup and now she sees "5GUC" next to her signal (I do not).
In the Software information section under Service provider software version, my phone has: SAOMC_SM-G990U_OYN_VZW_13_0017 VZW/VZW/VZW.
My daughter's S21 now says "TMB" in her software version.
It seems like her phone automatically updated the firmware over to T-Mobile but mine did not.
Again, not sure if a manual firmware update would solve any of the above issues, and what is the best way to change the firmware. Anyone have any experience with switching carriers on a S21FE? Did you update firmware?
