I've just upgraded OOS from version 10 to 11, and I have a really annoying bug, maybe someone had the same issue and might help me without wiping the data partition.
After changing screen size to 'Small' (or any other DPI at the Developer options page) OOS can't set it permanently. It randomly gets back to 'Default' - in most cases when switching between apps. I tried some reboots, setting screen size to small over and over again, but still changing apps or going back to the home page is making this setting restored.
Factory reset.
You better start over from the beginning... goes with the territory when doing a major firmware update.
It seems that I solved this puzzle... It wasn't OOS, but my per app profiles in Franco Kernel Manager After upgrading system, DPI values in these profiles got different values. It seems that DPI for 'Small' screen size in OOS 11 is higher (420) than previous one in OOS 10 (380).

ok, this bug has been driving me insane. AOKP and CNA have it, or atleast I know the latest CNA has it, and I had it on AOKP as of a few weeks ago.
Ever notice that your max cpu resets to 700 mhz randomly? I saw a lot of talk on this but no reasoning why, which I have now found. Thanks to another post (which I will try to find) I saw that people that are affected by this (you know if you are) can reproduce by doing to the following... turn screen off via button, and call your phone... when it wakes it will now be changed to 700mhz YAY! or not...
so this lead me to start looking into why this was happening, and some reported not happening... also wiping, updating, and changing kernels doesn't fix this... but how are some not able to reproduce with the above? then I found it! once you set your screen off to a value (can even be 700) it will no longer happen! I guess these roms are shpiping with out this set, and assuming that android will go to 700 like it always has, but in JB this hasn't been the case. sure screen on and off via the button does this, but the phone wake somehow messes it all up... soooo setting the screen off setting in to anything fixes it...
I used system tuner to set this btw, as soon as it's set (to 700 or 1.2) and i turn my phone off and call it, it resumes to my normal max of 1350..., but if I then go back into system tuner and chose the option to leave the settings the same from 700 I can reproduce the original problem.
Working now to see if I can find the actual culprit and fix it and send to AOKP, etc. if not, then we will have to push a script to set this on first run to prevent it form the future.
Anyone else able to test this on CM, etc? I haven't had the time to, but I think I had the same issue on CM also, and would lead me to beleive it's everywhere unless the rom is pushing a default value, or most users are just used to setting it when they flash and thus haven't seen this issue
looks like they might have fixed it, I'm running 3.6.6 and it's still not working though ven though it was made 3 days after this... perhaps it's in the nightly though:
https://github.com/CNA/android_device_samsung_tuna/commit/b5282efd34ac6a05869d08e7054512cf022c575d
further testing of CNA 3.6.6 shows that the only way I can get this to stick is if I use an app like system tuner, or something else that runs in the background to change the screen on and off settings. Updating the value in the sys folder isn't seeming to work, still reverts to 700 when a call is accepted. . .
latest aokp does not have this issue (jb_4)
winner0's CM from mid sept DID have this, latest winner0 cm10 linaro build doesn't...... looking into changelogs now
slim 2.4 doesn't have this issue
ok, was able to fix this by either setting screen off settings something that runs in the background like system tuner as mentioned above up or using Lean's latest kernel.
So 6.0 shows up unexpectedly and at first blush I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately, that buzz was quicky killed when the upgrade caused all kinds of unexpected issues. For example, I simply could not get Wifi calling to activate which ultimately led to a factory reset. After months of finally getting my G4 to run perfectly it was like starting over again. 6.0 might be good for the developers and Google, but I'm not so sure it does much for the user.
Anyway, one issue I have not been able to solve is removing/changing the shortcut application icons from the lockscreen. Before 6.0 all you had to do was go to Settings > Display > Lock Screen > Shortcuts. That setting is no longer present!!?? Any ideas?
never mind!!
the issue is solved by first turning off any lockscreen security (you can use swipe effect only). Once you do this the device then provides the 'shortcut' option described above. Apparently, this isn't a 6.0 issue but something other users of the G4 have faced in the past. The 6.0 upgrade just created a bunch of shortcuts and I had no idea how to remove them!

I know for me, QuickMemo+ FCs on every boot and toggling between apps. I cleared cache, but no luck. I then did another factory reset, but still on every boot get an annoying pop up saying QuickMemo+ has stopped. Seems to happen much less on a different launcher, but still pops up a few times a day. Performing another clean wipe and re-install using the upgrade assistant. Will report back later on the progress.
Hey all.
I've been testing for a few weeks now, on both my recalled note 7 and my replacement and wondered whether anyone encounters the following issues. Think it could be software related bug or sorts. Definitely not hardware.
Sometimes the quick settings toggles can become unresponsive ( will work after a few presses) including the settings cog. I found this to happen mostly if the screen res is changed to QHD and the font set to small. With medium size font all works great.
Although, IF I reboot after I make any display changes, everything will work fine. I've found messing with the font settings and resolution can make the bug appear. I could pull the drop down and press the settings cog, it may or may not respond after the first press.
Now. If I set the screen res to just FULL HD with any size font, big or small every icon/setting/toggle WILL respond immediately, whether I reboot after making the changes or not.
Don't get me wrong, my phone runs GREAT (Touch wood). Just wondering whether anyone else experiences or takes notice of these things?
no, nothing simmilar here, althoug I dont like to play with resolutions, as they scrammble things around
I'm having the same problem though I must add I haven't been fiddling with the resolution or display settings. It is always at QHD.

I've still been testing it, it defo seems to be a random software bug. The Layout boundries option in developer settings also shows how tight the lines are around some icons.
The glass and temperature may play a part in touch sensitivity also. I've cleared cache from recovery and seems to have temporarily solved the issue. Can be fixed I reckon by re-introduced the increase sensitivity option for gloves etc...
I have had this a couple of times. Never changed the resloution.
Same. Also in addition of this, my replacement runs warm idling and quite hot while loading. The whole system seems quite snappy but sluggish. My hope for Samsung is gradually vaporizing...
The first official LineageOS ROM was released for ocean last Friday, Sept. 12, and I am probably the first person in the world to install it to my brand-new XT1955-5
With the help of @roadkill42 and others, I flashed the ROM yesterday and everything was working fine.
Today we moved on to flashing Magisk and then Gapps. Yes, I know that is not usually the order of operations but we did it that way because we were having problems with TWRP, it was freezing the touch screen.
So, after we set up MagiskHide, we had to go back and flash Gapps, because we needed to install Termux from the play store to complete the MagiskHide Props Config setup.
Right after flashing Gapps, the display started acting up.
Any help appreciated.
If you go to settings->display->color and change it from normal to boosted or saturated it comes back. Pretty sure this is just a small bug.
I can't receive sms but I can send so give it some times for bugs to be fixed lol
Display problem as well

Hello together,
I have exactly the same problem.
But I can't see a menu settings->display->color boosted etc. in German menu
My device is nearly unusable
Could you help, please?
Thank you!
The same sometimes with CrDroid 6.9
I have somtimes the same problem: colors in images wired blocks like wrong GIFs with only 32 colors, but the black&white text is normal e.g. Firefox text & images. Changing the display settings (for the germans: in CrDroid: Einstelltungen/Display/Farben) one ore two times, it changed to normal.
Menue color found already

Hi,
thank you, I found the related menu to set the color now
It seems to work!

The settings change does remedy the issue temporarily, but it returns after a reboot. People are reporting this issue with LineageOS, and CrDroid, so you're not alone OP. It's related to Live Display. Resurrection Remix doesn't have this issue because they've removed Live Display from their ROM altogether, so it's worth giving that ROM a shot if you want to keep your device updated.
I think this problem happens after the root, Magisk.
Didn't happened with non rooted Lineage OS.
Just disable live display b done
so as long as the live display is not on then there are no issues.
I'm having this issue even with live display off, turning off live display is one of the first things I do during install and it's happened to me on all 3 of my installs thus far. It seems to only show up directly after I turn my screen on.
I'm using nitetime on aggressive doze mode, is anyone else having this problem using it as well?
I got the same problem with LOS18 (lineage-18.1-20210424-nightly-ocean-signed.zip) installed.
It appears only after rooting with Magsik.
Is there meanwhile any real and not temporarily solution for this?
Actually I think the problem has nothing to do with Magisk -- I am now also experiencing it without, and I seem to not be alone:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/mmwuli
https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/mmxvm7
Magisk just makes it a lot easier to reproduce the problem.
Unfortunately, I am using LineageOS for microG, so I think the Lineage devs will reject by bugreport. Can someone else report the bug at https://wiki.lineageos.org/how-to/bugreport ?
Hi I have the OnePlus 9 pro running Android 12. Stock, with all updates. I have gotten fed up with the operating system resetting my choices on battery optimization and permissions. This is related to notifications. I do not receive notifications from apps unless I have both made them a battery optimization exemption, and manually given them all requested permissions. But every time I restart my phone, or if there is an update, the operating system resets all of these changes to default, effectively silencing all notifications from these apps until I manually change them again. It's upsetting enough that I have to make these changes in order to get notifications. The fact that the system resets them all of the time is just annoying. Can I disable the system resetting these changes if I root my phone only? Or is it necessary for me to install a Rom that doesn't do this to my apps? On a side note I use Nova launcher because I dislike the lack of customization from OnePlus operating system. Thank you for any advice you can give me
TL;DR: OnePlus resets my battery optimization choices and my permission choices regularly. Can I fix this If I root or is a new ROM necessary to stop this?

That's really odd that it's doing this to you. Never had this issue on any of my OP devices. Including stock OOS and custom ROM's. Which variant do you have, which firmware are you running, have you tried factory resetting then setting up your device and seeing if the issue persists?

Thank you for replying. My phone says it's Android 12 with the August 5, 2022 security patch.
Build # is LE2125_11_C.63,
Baseband version is Q_V1_P14,
kernel version is 54147-qgki-g2f286f199c5a,
Hardware version is LE2125_12.
I have not tried factory resetting yet, and if I get a new software that would happen anyway, so I suppose it's worth a shot. The phone also likes to reset some apps. Like the Twilight blue light filter app. I woke up one day to find the phone had reset the app back to default, and I had to set it up and all it's permissions up all over again. I didn't realize this wasn't normal because when I searched, I couldn't find anyone with the same problem. I just thought the battery optimization was super extreme this time around. I'll backup my favorite apps and try a reset and see if that works. Thank you again for responding.

Weird that when I woke up, Repainter reset my system theme I was using and even though it's still enabled app-side, it's disabled system-side. Now I gotta figure out why lol. I would recommend factory resetting for sure first to see if that helps at all. Make a full system/internal backup and copy it to your PC before doing so. Feel free to reach out if it worked or didn't work for you.

Thanks, I did go through that page already. Most of those menu options aren't present in the OnePlus 9 pro on Android 12, and the rest I tried but nothing changed. For example, I have my blokada app locked in the recent apps, but choosing "close all" closes it in spite of this. Just another mark against OnePlus' software.

I think you jinxed me. Repainter hasn't been working all day and the xda app won't let me login for some reason. It logs in, but still shows the key icon and none of my subscribed threads load. That's really odd that when you lock an app in recents, it still clears regardless. Which launcher are you using? When I was on OOS, I used Nova and when I locked apps in recents and hit 'clear all', said app would still remain. I didn't care to use OOS12, once I realized there was no color code theme option, I went back to OOS11 until I took the plunge to update my fw to use Nameless again.

I'm sorry! I have innate bad luck, sometimes it runs off on people. I was using the OnePlus launcher at first but after I switched to Nova it stopped happening I think. I've reset my phone now, hoping it is fixed.

I guess so! Still can't login to xda for some reason... Well that's good that so far it's working right. Sorry you had to reset your phone and everything just to get it to work again. I hate when I have to do that. Feel free to reach out again if it starts happening again.
Edit: rebooting seemed to fix the xda/repainter issues. Just sucks I lost my 10+ days uptime streak lol
