Good Day all,
I was wondering, is it possible to revert to the stock recovery after installing the Global ROM on the mi mix 3 China Version?
Reason I am wondering is because when I/We receive a OTA update from Xiaomi while using the Global ROM, will the phone be able to update or will it just freak out on me/us and die?
Currently I am waiting for my Bootloader to be unlocked (ETA 70HRS), I have all files necessary files downloaded (TWRP, Global ROM, Magisk v17.1)
Help/Advice would be appreciated :good:
Kind Regards

I find you very helpful in the forum and I would like to ask you few questions, I am thinking about buying the device but only chinese version is available here and I cant wait for the global to arrive
my questions are:
1- global version only released with 6GB RAM , if I got chinese version with 8GB , will it be able to run the global ROM ?
2- I have never flashed a ROM before , but I have strong knowledge in linux and command lines, will this be a hard task for me to do ? is it risky to brick the device ?
3- After flashing the Global ROM , will I receive official OTA updates directly from xaiomi without any problems ?

1. Yes no problem, I'm on 8GB model and worked fine
2. Really hard to hard brick, soft brick possible but easily fixable via fastboot to flash new system, boot etc
3. I believe so, not tested as there isn't a 2nd global update out?

3. Only relock the bootloader on the ROM base it came with. So if your phone came with the Chinese ROM do not relock bootloader with global. If you do it's goodbye phone
Stock ROM will install stock recovery once phone has booted up

Is there a way to get the likes of Google Pay to work on the Global ROM on the chinese phone without using Magisk Hide

You'd have to use the Xiaomi EU rom with or without magisk as the global ROM has a CTS mismatch so won't pass safety net.

No, flashing the ROM will keep TWRP installed as it's a custom miui ROM.
OTA works and will automatically flash the update via TWRP for you.

Just a quick update for you all that I have successfully, unlocked the Bootloader and installed the ROM.
Just a quick note to mention that after you do:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_perseus.img
DO NOT put in the command:
fastboot boot TWRP_perseus.img
After flashing TWRP just take your phone (either connected or disconnected from PC) and hold vol up and power. It will reboot in TWRP.
I tried rebooting into the recovery using the above command line and it just rebooted into MIUI Recovery.
Hope this helps :good:

Has anyone tried to flash GAPPS onto this ROM safely or would it mess everything up?
Hey guys,
i just want to ask if there is a tested method to relock the bootloader of a rooted A2 Lite.
I use the stock rom, just unlocked and rooted it.
I've read something about the MiFlashTool and the Clean and Lock Option.
But I'm not sure about that, because the MiFlashTool is for Miui.
So what are the steps to relock the bootloader?
Thank you for your help

The MiFlashTool is also for the Stock Rom of the Mi A2 Lite (Not only MIUI!)
Download the Stock Rom and you can flash it via MiFlash. If you choose the option, you can relock the Bootloader when you do this.
Woah there buddy, if you try to lock a rooted phone you will have a hard brick. Don't try to lock the bootloader of a phone that is rooted or have system/boot etc. modifications.

Not sure if it would work, the cleanest way would be to download official fastboot ROM, flash it via MiFlash (select clean and lock option). This will erase all your data and turn your phone to stock ROM. I'm saying this is the cleanest way because you may have issues by unrooting and locking the phone. Maybe it would work. Unsure.

Ok, this was a misunderstanding
If you lock your bl at a modified system, you will get the message "your system got destroyed", I once had this. But I was lucky being able to unlock again... So no hardbrick... But doing all that leads to nothing. Btw. it's always useful to have an open bl... For example, if you mess up with a magik module and stuck @boot... Just ignore the stupid message of xiaomi!

To prevent this, i want to remove the root access in the first place.
That i have a clean stock rom.
I tried it with no-data-loss method and it says, system is destroyed, i have it to unlock it.
With root, you can relock it, but it's useless.

Backup up everything first
Download MiFlash and the correct ROM (not OTA version)
Then you can flash the Stock ROM which will remove everything
You can also choose to leave unlocked or lock the bootloader (re-lock is selected by default)
As this is a somewhat new device I wouldn't tick the option to save your data.

Take a look at this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/ota-v9-6-4-0-odlmiff-t3823913
you can find pretty much all ota's and fastboot rom links.
All full ROMs end with .tgz extension
like this one:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.6.4.0.O...0.ODLMIFF_20180724.0000.00_8.1_4afd3431a2.tgz
you have to extract it to be able to use it with MiFlash but I'm sure you'll find all the answers in the thread above

I ****ed up.
I was coming from miui weekly eu version, I wanted to flash a GSI image. I did in twrp, GSI pixel experience arm a only. Didn't boot further till mi logo. So fastboot flashed miui10 stable and booted till setup screen. Boot asked for a password after GSI boot. So I wanted to try a different GSI and reflashed. Didn't work also. Again fastboot flashed miui10, this time I forgot to unselect 'format and lock' didnt saw that. Now it won't boot in system and twrp, and also can't unlock bootloader anymore with mi unlocked as my phone is somehow not linked to my account anymore.
What am I supposed to do now?

Yes I tried flashing custom recovery. Says it can't flash it as my bootloader is not unlocked. Did the fastboot flash again because I wanted to do a deep clean flash again. But forgot to unselect the lock button. Now its locked and only booting in standard miui recovery and fastboot.

Why did you keep using fastboot to flash stock most of these need xiaomi.eu ROM as a base which can be flashed via twrp whatever version you use and it's because you chose flash all and lock hence your stuck now as can't unlock bootloader. I just recovered mine from ARB EDL brick as invought it cheap in that state. You need to flash a stock version version that's suitable to get stock working then attach your account in settings so bootloader unlock can work. My model was Chinese so I needed flash Chinese stock and started again. If your phone was originally Chinese start there then unlock the bootloader etc.

Yes flash the latest official Chinese not global stock using mi flash tool as that will get your phone back up and running on stock. Then add your account in settings so bootloader unlock can see it. Enable dev setting tick OEM unlock and add account. Unlock your boot loader and your back again mate. If you could have unlocked your boot loader the global would boot but not while it's locked.
1. Flash latest CN firmware
2. Add account in settings after set up
3. Try bootloader unlock again should not have to wait if unlocked before
4. Flash twrp and keep copy of xiaomi.eu ROM on your micro SD card as that's all you need to flash in recovery to return to stock. It's flashed via recovery without errors

Anyone who can fix this hard brick gets $10 worth of Bitcoin or Ethereum from me.
Hmmm, if you bootloader can be unlocked. I can help you because I hard-bricked my phone because of the Anti Rollback by flashing an earlier version of global pie beta over the current one (10.2.1.0). I had someone from the s-unlock website unbrick my device for me because my Mi account had no authorization to finish the Mi Flash process. So instead, the tech guy used his authorized mi account to bypass the Mi Flash install remotely on my computer to make my phone work again.

Basically you need to flash the latest version of the Chinese stock miui but I haven't seen any tool that does that while bootloader is locked. You won't be able to unless you have bootloader unlocked. It bootloader gets unlocked phone will boot normal but your account should still been linked as phone was signed into it previously. Strange that it won't recognise your account when using the bootloader unlock tool

That is the problem. I was booted into system but skipped the option for logging into my mi account as it was only to get past the unlock screen. Then did the clean flash again but then with the flash all and lock then I couldn't boot into system anymore. I'm seriously in trouble now, I loved this phone. Thankfully I still have a Mi A1 which I use now but it kinda sucks tho.
I guess its the end for this device.
I cant boot into system. I cant flash TWRP as my bootloader is locked (Token verify failed).

Hi,
I restored my Zuk Z2 to stock, as I bricked it, so just wanted to start fresh.
Now I'm back with a fresh stock OS and want to hack it again and put on AOSiP 9.0 ROM.
However, once I go into Developer Options, there is no option for "OEM Unlock".
Has that option been moved? Do I need to flash another stock ROM? Can someone help me?
I used this guide to revert to stock, and I am using the ROMs they linked:

If your bootloader has been locked, then you need to unlock it again with a PC ?
I believe the process to unlock the bootloader begins by going into Developer Options and enabling "OEM Unlock". Then you do the rest with a PC.
Is this correct?

OH ok, my mistake.
BTW, I'm on official FW ZUI 2.0.133 ST. Is that the latest? Or does it matter if I'll be switching to AOSiP?
Read this:

It says I need to flash 3.5 first, but those two firmware give me an error in MiFlash saying they're invalid format. They flash in QFIL but give me a brick, hence my original issue.
Thanks.

1) now you have unlock bootloader?
2) ZUI 2.0.133 its not the latest its ZUI 4.0xxx
Flash with qfil the ZUI v1.9 CN and after that use OTA to go in the last ZUI after that unlock bootloader flash twrp and your are ready to flash any ROM you want.
Yes actually I have flashed again and used OTA to get to 4.x but it's still the same issue.
I am also currently trying to flash a ROM on another phone and I was told I can't use the latest TWRP (3.3.0.0) as it uses "Toybox", so I have to use the previous version of TWRP (3.2.3.0).
I am starting to think it is the same issue here, so I will try downgrade TWRP and try again.

hey guys, successfully flashed the global rom over my redmagic 6 pro CN version but decided to go back to the CN rom, but when I try to install it via local update it results in a recovery boot loop and the only option is to do a factory reset, but when I do a factory reset, for some reason it goes back to the Global Rom. Any tips on what I need to do? thanks

Personally what I would do is extract the boot image from the CN rom zip and fastboot flash it after you flash the CN rom via local update. You will have to be bootloader unlocked of course. You can always relock after you've got the CN rom up and running.

I actually tried that but then it get's stuck on the Nubia logo, so something must have gone wrong somewhere, and one odd thing is if I try installing the latest V2.63 CN rom via local update it tells me that the package is not compatible with the phone. At least the Redmagic 5G had the local update option on its recovery. Nothing at all on the Redmagic 6 Pro. Isn't recovery.img included in the payload.bin? doesn't seem to be there when I dumped the payload

Hi there, can you describe the whole steps to flash your RM6 pro from CN to global?
Which rom did you use? EU or non-EU?
Thanks for the reply.

I installed both just to see if I cam go back to CN rom once I'm on either Rom
Basically just downloaded the Global ROM file from the Nubia website, put it on my phones root folder, then did a local update, using the system update local update setting

I believe the recovery is part of the boot image now. I've dumped the payload too and I'll have a quick look and see if it's present. I have all the files for the US, global version. It's 4.1.2 I believe. I'll be happy to help any way I can. I just had a bad experience today... I've had my 6 Pro a week and already the cord has quit working. Not a good sign. I'm starting to regret my purchase.

I checked and sure enough no recovery image. Pretty sure it's baked into the boot image. Perhaps try the 4.1.2 boot image? That may boot it. Seems like you've rebranded it global version by flashing the global rom. That's a possibility anyways

ok I'll try to play around with it, won't flashing the 4.1.2 boot.img cause a brick?

Shouldn't cause a brick. If you've already flashed global before there shouldn't be any problem. But to be sure instead of flashing just fastboot boot the image.
Fastboot boot boot.img
This will allow you the luxury of trying it without actually flashing it. If it hangs up simply reboot by holding power.
