What is R?
Our release of Android 11, titled CR-9.0.
It provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. R delivers a set of unique features, like a system-wide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has addressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
3) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Install Instructions:
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS stable build on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.
The easiest way to do that is by installing the latest Version and then copy it by flashing the copy-partitions script made by LineageOS in the recovery. (See install Instructions for the recovery)
The recommended way to install is using the CarbonRecovery linked below.
Download the ROM and optionally GApps, reboot to recovery by flashing the boot and vendor_boot images using
Code:
fastboot flash boot lemonadep-YYYYMMDD-HHMM-boot.img
fastboot flash vendor_boot lemonadep-YYYYMMDD-HHMM-vendor_boot.img
followed by booting to recovery through the bootloader.
Sideload the ROM. (Apply Update -> Apply from ADB -> Connect to PC ->
Code:
adb sideload CARBON-CR-9.0-R-WEEKLY-lemonadep-YYYYMMDD-HHMM.zip
Reboot recovery (to switch between slots)
Flash GApps/MicroG through sideload like above (optional)
Factory reset -> Format data/factory reset (Make sure to have a backup of your data)
Done
Followup builds can be updated through the builtin CarbonDelta Updater or by dirtyflashing.

Stuttery scrolling is related to the 60Hz display mode. Try changing to 120Hz and it's fine. It's known and happens on most of the High-Refresh-Rate OnePlus devices across multiple ROMs but a "solution" to that is yet to be found.

Can you share some more information on your config (e.g. GApps and such) as well as where the stuttering happens? I'll gladly take a look then. So far I can't seem to reproduce it though, and the 9 Pro is my daily driver

I was running opengapps nano, I also had the same stuttering with LineageOS so not sure if it's the gapps package that was causing it.
The stuttering was during scrolling and it didn't matter where it always did it.

You can check carbon rom's homepage for features.
Can someone confirm that the nikgapps full package fits on this rom? Most other roms have limited system space that can only fit a "basic" or "stock" install but not a "full". Or please suggest another equivalent "full" type gapps, I dont want to have 2 calendars, 2 calculators, etc, and yes I know about disabling apps.

Also thanks to Flash ROM and AOSPA for their changes that make the rom fly.

I've been running this ROM since I saw it pop on android file host (July 17th). So far everything works for me the only problem I face is the screen will randomly not turn on and I'm forced to reboot after 2min.

Could you try to get a log (both logcat and dmesg) next time it happens? Ive only had a Robin since about 4:30pm yesterday, so I haven't had that issue (yet)
Gonna jump in on the testing train. Will report back!
Screen off lock up confirmed. Didn't get to dmesg/logcat. Haven't had access to a computer in days. I had to force reboot my device. Vol Down + Power. I haven't done in months now.

I clean flashed the ROM and Beans GApps full; setup the FP and rebooted after about twenty minutes. Letting it sit there without logging in for a few minutes brings up the problem again

Sounds like an issue with doze, I'll try to catch a log
EDIT: Seems like this may have been fixed. Will push another test build later
Testing it for two days now and had one random reboot. Apart from that the rom runs really fast and stable. In fact the fastest and smoothest rom i have had so far

Any idea what caused the random reboot? What were you doing right before it happened? I want to see if I can trigger the reboot and log it.

New test build available! OP has been updated, and I'm dropping the link here too. Notable changes include performance improvements and some bug fixes. GPS is still broken.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298973310
Wow first of all this rom is FAST, I don't know what you did but the performance is crazy. I've flashed the ROM, open gapps stock, flashed magisk and all seems stable. The only bug I've encountered is sometimes when the screen is being turned on after locking the device you'll see a static black and white screen just before the screen displays what it's supposed to. This issue was on LOS and LOS based roms and AFAIK is now fixed (I had RR flashed just last week and didn't have the issue). I'll report anything else if I find anything.
I really love CarbonROM and hope to see more improvements in the future! Keep up the good work!
I also have the problem with the static screen. I had this problem on every rom except omni and paranoid. It still happens on the latest official LOS.

Ah, yes, I had a suspicion it was something to do with doze. As using force doze causes it to happen more often. I didn't mention it though as I wasn't sure.

Download speeds vary. It's just how the wonderful internet is. Speedtest is connecting to one server dedicated to speed tests...AFH, on the other hand, has a lot of users and a lot of simultaneous downloads.
I encounter same issue from time to time. Just keep being patient...or try later in the day (or night). ?

is anyone else having trouble with Gboard themes on this ROM? If I pick a gradient theme it just hangs and crashes.
I flashed this with Mini gapps first and had a hard time getting through setup, tried again with pico with more success.

I flashed the micro package and can't even get past checking for updates. The data transfer tool keeps just keeps crashing.
Edit: Tried flashing the pico package instead and now device health services keeps crashing.
Has anyone tried razorloves' MindTheGapps package?

Leave out the "Flash TWRP" part and replace "reboot to recovery" with "reboot to bootloader and boot the twrp image"
Not judging but simply confused...
I see people not wanting to install twrp and it just makes no sense to me why I would want to limit my options and functionality.
It's been like almost a year since twrp had been totally stable for me with no decryption or touch issues.
Again, what is it folks are afraid of??
I'm digging how clean and fast this ROM is. Hopefully you get your server issues resolved soon.
Trying this out again! Carbon was the first ROM I've ever used on my Pixel 2 XL and absolutely loved the experience.

So do I... We already have a new host because we're fed up with the old one. Currently waiting for the old one to finally answer our support ticket and bring the server back on so we can move our data to the new server and can call it a day with the old host.
Has anyone tried installing NanoDroid with this?
I went from factory image -> flash rom -> flash twrp -> reboot recovery -> flash magisk -> flash full nanodroid.zip
This leads to a bootloop until it boots back into recovery
When I try to set up any password, it does not let me proceed after the second test. Confirm gets grayed out

The issue here would be magisk. You usually need to boot to the system at least once before you can sucessfully flash Magisk. Don't know the reasons but it's seems to be an ongoing theme on A/B devices. Same happens on my OP6 and 6T

So theoretically I need flash the rom in 'A,' flash magisk on 'B', boot into the system once, reboot recovery into 'B,' and then install nanodroid?
Edit: Well I ignored Magisk and rebooted to recovery to install nanodroid after rom installation and it booted back into recovery unfortunately.

Public Service Announcement
This is an unofficial build for Oreo (8.1.0).
Given timing of achieving this and the likelihood that as of July the big G dropped support of Oreo (among other issues), official status does not look promising now.
If you see something out of place, please post with logs.
At this point there will be no feature requests for this Android Oreo, just looking to stomp out any bugs that remain.
FYI, if you rather hang with Nougat, I have also posted some recently discontinued builds (have used them extensively, but for these you are on your own in terms of support).
Enjoy!
@OfficerJimLahey well this is something I will look forward to flash. You will have full logs whatever I can help you with. Will flash asap and report with oreo. Never thought carbon will be here like this. ?
I played the rom once. So far I have found no mistakes. Will report in the next few days! Thanks in advance

We were never far. I have been working on this for well over a year, with that side journey in Nougat. But until recently, there were ... problems on Oreo.

No problem! Glad to have the kernel issues sorted out (squid2 being the one to thank for that) to make this possible.
Thanks for the New life to Lux.
Its Supercool Rom. Magisk is also working. Changed the dpi to 400 which makes it awesome!
It just seems as Active display is not working as it should be.. when i hold the device, it doesn't display the notifications till i click on the power button.
Anyways Thanks Dev!

Damn idk y I'm facing this
I have install the ROM on my moto x play ans it's work very well.
Open gapps pico work, camera it's ok, NFS it's OK.
But it's impossible install xda labs. But another aps it's ok
Original charger?
Battery drain doesn't seem all that different from (Moto Stock) Nougat to me - since the WiFi is a pig for battery.

Install it's ok. When i open apk in "apps download " the install it's impossible but when i go in storage and in the folders download the installation it's ok
Oh that. New in Android O, you can set other apps to be trusted in installing. Much better than Google Play or always allow unsigned apps. So the app you used to install it just wasn't trusted for the job (yet).

Sorry man, I had to take it down
I know it's early but installed 18.1 20220402-UNOFFICIAL. Tried installing open-gapps-arm64 pico but indicated not correct for device (using twrp 3.2.3-r1-athene-arm64). Tried open-gapps-arm pico. Booted ok but sluggish and rebooted a couple of times. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I believe I've done that and things remain slow and at some point freezes and reboots. To possibly help further, here is what I've done.
in twrp recovery, wipe > format data (and advanced wipe all partitions as well)
use adb sideload for lineage-18.1-20220402-UNOFFICIAL-athene.zip, wipe Davlik Cache, wipe Cache
use similar adb sideload for open_gapps-arm-11.0-pico-20220215.zip
reboot system
Goes through Google setup (sluggish). After going through setup, response continues sluggish overall (settings, etc.). Just doing something like change to dark mode in settings resulted in a freeze then reboot.
I've also installed just the rom without any gapps, rom works well, and is responsive as expected (I'm only using wifi so need for celluar functions).
Not sure if gapps is the cause or gapps with the rom (given it's work in progress).
In any case, happy to test out lineage 18.1 on this device as I'm merely playing around.
Other info:
Running to twrp 3.5.2_9-0 (3.2.3-r1-athene-arm64-rajatgupta-1998) (I was running ArrowOS before trying L18.1).
I run LineageOS on Samsung Note 3, Nexus 7 2013, and Samsung S5 so not new to roms but not claiming being an expert either (dangerous enough to bring newer life to older devices thanks to great devs)

I think it's an rom/device problem because i tried android 11 roms on an HTC One M8 and GApps were working perfectly, even on an beta OpenGApps version
Edit: i think for now you can use MicroG as an alternative for GApps to check if it works, use Nanodroid Patcher then Nanodroid MicroG
Edit 2: Use LiteGApps Go version
Well, it's so sad that there are no news about this rom, especially since one of the important developers did quit because he/she got his/her Telegram account reported
I want to know. Is there someone working on this rom nowadays? i want to know since i can know if i can wait or directly stop waiting and keep on my actual rom
Edit: What happened to the Testing Hub? as far as i know, there was even an android 12 beta.

Sadly, one of the developers that were working on this rom is out, got his/her Telegram account got reported by an Telegram group and got tired of things like that, the worst thing is that he/she was the one that was working really hard on porting android 11 and even trying to make android 12 work

did you make lineage 19.1? I found a lineage 19.1 zip on sourceforge and I dont know how to install it because flashing with TWRP 3.6.1 doesn't work
Do I have to use adb and fastboot?
Does it need gapps or are they included like so many roms now?
Does it work or is it unstable and not useable?
