Can't flash TWRP with ODIN on SM-T835 - Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Questions & Answers

Hello
I am trying to root my tablet. OEM Unlocking is on, USB Debugging is on, latest USB drivers.
I enter in Download mode, Odin connects, I select in AP twrp-3.5.2_9-0-gts4lwifi.img.tar, click Start. I get <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1). Yeah, very useful log...
Here are some screenshots that might help.

Disabled auto reboot or not?

Did you try factory resetting it and then enter download mode and flash twrp?
Try factory reset it and don't finish the setup process ?

Yes. No luck. OEM unlocking does a factory reset anyway.

Disabled.

Is Android 10 on Tab S4 impossible to root?

Is a more detailed log for Odin somewhere?

'RPMB fuse blown' can be the thing that causes the problem.
If that is the case it is beyond my knowledge.

is a matter of connection ,try with USB 2.0 & not USB 3 or 3.1 - turn off any antivirus - added odin to permissible "firewall applications" ..
_ before flashing in odin, selected "reset" ..
try - tablet : 1) load into download mode 2) click cancel 3) load into download mode again 4) click continue 5) flash again .. & GL

I don't have this device so maybe not much help
from your screen shots i see 2 things that will cause your issues
Odin failing at setup connection - While this is a common issue with some PC's you can try the above post or try a different PC.
In download mode: KG status shows Prenormal - so if odin does work twrp will fail anyway. KG state should be in Checking mode. To change this state requires a connection to the internet. As with the RMM state ( now KG state ) it was usually after 168hrs ( 7 days ) but this may vary for devices. Your can try the date method but i don't know if it works on the KG state as it did on RMM state.

Hello,
I have the same problem as you.
Did you find a solution?
Best Rgds JmPillot

Yes, I had a similar issue a while back, USB 2.0 is needed, anything above that and it fails to write.

I'm having the same issue with a wifi T830. I'm on latest firmware T830XXU5CUE2.
I've tried flashing 'TWRP_T83x_3.4.0-6.tar' and 'twrp-3.6.0_9-0-gts4lwifi.img.tar' on my T830 wifi, tried several ODIN versions, they all fail.
The tablet is OEM unlocked.
I tried a different PC, tried USB 2.0, ODIN refuses to flash TWRP.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Problem solved thanks to @catharsis724, here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-official-twrp-3-4-0-6-t83x-mtp-otg.3928278/post-86182675

[Q] Help with Odin

I'm desperately trying to root my Sprint S3 on 4.3.
Two different methods so far required to use Odin to flash a recovery, but Odin hangs every time at "recovery.img".
I have my drivers installed, Debugging enabled, and my phone shows in Odin as "0:[com4]".
I dont have clue why it hangs every time and its really aggravating. Can someone please help? I'll be sure to give everyone who tries to a thanks.
Are you putting the tar file in the pda slot?

Yep. Here's a screenshot. Its in the AP section because I tried on a newer version of ODIN, same result.

Do you have a good cable? Most people like the BlackBerry cables and most have problems using the cable supplied with the phone for more than charging.

You will want Odin v. 3.07, not the v. 3.09. Also, there is a much newer version of Philz available, it is 6.15.7 and is a d2lte version. Link for Philz thread is in my signature in order to access the newest version. Make sure the Auto Reboot box is unchecked in Odin, or else the phone will reboot automatically too early in the process. If it works properly, the green Pass message should show after two minutes, and then you can use your custom recovery to flash the SuperSU zip file to achieve root.

Hey sorry for the late reply. I dont think its the Odin version, because I tried first on 3.07 and had the exact same result. I had autoreboot unchecked previously, I guess I had forgotten it in the time I took the screenshot.
I think I've narrowed it down to the generic cable, but I'll download your updated version and give it a try anyways. Thanks!

Well something new... its at least telling me it failed sometimes. But other times it still hangs.

N5110 Device issue

Hi everybody, i have one GT-N5110 with issue. The issue is: ROM is damage, EFS is damage (i think) and cache partition can't be read by recovery, and when device is switch on the screen (backlight) is blinking with freq 10 - 15 Hz
So, some history:
Three days a go, one client give this tablet to me, with the issue of firmware. He told me that in past, he updated the firmware (ODIN) to N5110XXDNF1_N5110XEODNF1_HOME.tar.md5 and the firmware was damage. He does not have root and custom recovery.
When i first turn on a device, it was a note, that device is corrupted (or some thing like that) please use Kies to recovery. Kies doe's not wanna recover the device without recovery key, he even тще see him.
Well i trued to make a custom recovery (CWM) and device booted to recovery with issue of "can't mount cache/ recovery/ log. True install the firmware from recovery, wont start, going to reset.
What should i do? Only switch the motherboard?

Wow. There could be a bunch going on here. Can you get into download mode and if so, have you tried to Odin a stock package onto the tablet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773712
If you already tried this, what does it do?

Hold volume up +Home and power button, go into recovery menu and do a factory reset.
Or install kies and flash your firmware.

you will have to flash stock and try again, please remeber to unlock bootloader and turn on usb debugging.
Turn the phone off (in case you cant, holding vol- and power will hard reset the device)
as soon as the screen goes black press and hold the vol+ and vol- keys in and connect the usb cable, this should kick it to download mode for you to flash stock image.
Thanks it worked and took me to download mode but unable to flash the ROM, trying to flash 10 but shows something in download menu, screenshot attached.
Giving the error i am facing, trying to flash stock rom via odin but it gets stuck at boot and nothing happens.
I am able to get into download now but seems like bootlader is off it is giving an error
error - SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE:4 BINARY:2
sorry for back to back posts.
download from here; https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/#SM-A505FN
select your phone model tho, if not FN.
"SW REV CK FAIL usually means that you are not flashing the most current released firmware version. Most Samsung devices will not let you downgrade. You have to flash what was previously installed or higher Android version. "
from; https://androidforums.com/threads/error-odin-sw-rev-check-fail-device-4-binary-3.1251721/
So maybe try pie again then upgrade to 10?
Is your odin the latest, I've found that not all odins work with all phones.
For samsung A50 they say this one; https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.4.zip
can you reboot to stock recovery? by holding vol+ and Power?
Try factory reset and wipe everything.
Have tried to flash the one was installed in mobile earlier but still giving same error, it was ATB6 installed.
Sorry I couldnt help more, there seem to be plenty of youtube videos out there tho; https://www.google.com/search?q=SW+...3TxUIHU4_C3QQ_AUoAXoECAsQAw&biw=2560&bih=1344
