Hey there, I'm a newbie to rooting and stuff similar, my question is can you use the download mode to install a custom OS on to a US Snapdragon? I want to try to root my phone mainly to remove bloatware and tinker around a bit.
No you can't (US models are bootloader locked) UNLESS you go the route found in the "Bounty for U.S model" route in one of the threads here. It is a pay for BL unlock method, so just know that. Afaik it is the only way to get your model unlocked to be able to run custom OS/root.

Not sure exactly where to post this as your forums are very American Carrier focused so I just went with model number.
I am just entering the world of rooting Android phones etc. so forgive my noob-osity but am eager to learn after realising this carrier phone really isn't MY phone.
I am wanting to use Chainfire's CF-AutoRoot to get root access on my Australian Vodafone GT-N7105T device however his instructions make very clear that the device will be bricked if I do not unlock the bootloader. I cannot seem to find a method of unlocking the bootloader for this specific device. Can anyone help with this?
Also just in general, some Rooting methods I have read about don't seem to "require" unlocking the bootloader or maybe haven't mentioned that it is part of the process.
Is unlocking the bootloader something that needs to be done ALWAYS when you root? I thought that unlocking the bootloader was only required if you wanted to flash custom ROMs and that having a locked bootloader did not prevent some rooting methods? If that is the case then I'm confused as to why Chainfire's CF-AutoRoot needs an unlocked bootloader as it's purpose is to leave everything stock?

I am buying a used phone and would like to confirm if it can be rooted before purchasing. Can all versions be rooted, or only ones that can have bootloader unlocked? How can I check if bootloader can be unlocked? It seems that all Canadian phones cannot have their bootloader unlocked.
UPDATE: I can't even a find a non-abandoned thread for rooting this device. Could someone be so kind as sharing link to how to root, assuming unlocked bootloader?
Hello, I'm semi new to the root process (I've rooted my s4,s6 and s7). My only thing with the s9 is that I find threads saying that you cant unlock the bootloader on the u.s model s9. When I Google how to unlock the bootloader I find that all you need to do is OEM unlock and bam its unlocked. I have taken no further steps past that because I need to verify of that actually unlocks my bootloader. I'm looking to get magisk running on this phone. My question is if its possible?
Hello everyone! I have a Oneplus 7T (HD1907- The T-Mobile Variant) and I want to install Pixel Experience on it. I have heard that there are troubles because of it being that specific model. Bootloader is not eligible for unlock (not at all surprised) for the XT2075-2. Has anyone found a way to unlock the bootloader or generate a bootloader unlock key (even if it is a paid service)? Worst case, it would be nice if there was a root exploit that could be used.
Well this is frustrating. I bought the unlocked version xt-2075-3, but received the ATT version (xt2075-2) It appears the unlocked version doesnt have 5G for USA anyway... So I am ok with the ATT version... But youre saying I cant root this thing? Wtf?
