Hi all,
Am unable to install YouTube Vanced on my SM-975U. Apparently, if I turn off MIUI Optimization, it might install. I tried hitting "Reset to default values" in the Developer options multiple times but the toggle option for MIUI optimization has not appeared.
Help!

Found a solution: uninstall both YouTube Vanced and MicroG through the Vanced Manager app, reinstall the MicroG app FIRST and only after that should one install the YouTube Vanced apk. Solved the problem for me.
It didn't work because the Note10+ is not a Xiaomi phone.

Hi all,
did you see this? http://www.daydreamdistrict.com/run-daydream-vr-oneplus-3/
This seems to be the only way to have the OnePlus 3 ready for Daydream. I still tried this customization (comment).
Has anybody did this, too? What can be the reason for unsuccess?

u got it successfully working on OOS 4.0.2 but couldnt use it good due to not having a proper daydream vr controller or a second device to emulate it

Was this a question or a hint? Yes, actually I do not have any Daydream VR Controller. But I didn't have any Icons in my Launcher.
By default the line "<feature name=”android.software.vr.mode” />" is set. The other has to copied in. And after reboot no nothing.

after adding those lines you have to go to the playstore or use APK mirror and install daydream app and daydream keyboard the line
"<feature name="android.software.vr.mode"/>" just enables the support but you still have to install the apps

If you start the device it first asks for PIN's (unlock SIM) and then the PIN (unlock device) or fingerprint or what ever ... and then there is nothing. You can open the taskmanager. In my case with the message "No recently opened Items". First I thought is is an error in OxygenOS Launcher but as I installed Nova (install apk through adb install, because no icons -> no Google Playstore) there was no icon, too. No screenshots from me ... if I do it again it will take me another 1 hour for repairing.

Unfortunately i don't know what to say as when i added the lines in my device booted normally and no crashes anywhere it was just useless for me as i dont have a second android device with gyroscope free lying around but i can assure you Google Daydream works flawlessly on oneplus 3

Did you set the correct permissions after editing the file? (Check the screenshot.) I suggest you use 'root browser' from the play store, edit the file and then set the same permissions as in the screenshot. Just long click the file and tap 'permissions'
As You can see Daydream VR is working perfectly with Oneplus 3 just need a second droid device with gyroscope or buy the actual daydream Vr headset and controller
FYI i am using daydream on lineage OS the New official one
On my Oneplus 5T, I'm currently running stock oxygen OS 4.7.7 (Nougat 7.1.1)
I'm preparing to update its Oxygen OS to Android 5.1.1. (Android Oreo 8.1.1)
I am running the following xposed modules
adblocker reborn
App settings
GravityBox
Youtube Adaway
Statusbar download progress
xprivacy Lua
Can anyone please tell me whether one or more of these modules are causing any trouble on OnePlus 5T running Oxygen OS 5.1.1 ?
I'm using gravitybox without any trouble.
Regarding status bar download progress, I would advise you to use the official app which doesn't even require root. It's from the same developper. There is a paid version, the dev deserves it given the time since this module exists.
I would also stop using YouTube adaway. Try YouTube vanced as a magisk module : no ads but also PiP and background play.
Otherwise I don't see why there should be problems with the other modules. If you're not sure, just make a system+Data partitions backup with TWRP and restore it if you experience any bug.
Thanks for replying, I'll surely check out different app for status bar download progress.

I'm already using YouTube vanced. My only reason to block YouTube ads is because upon clicking the YouTube links on web pages while surfing on Chrome and Firefox, the links automatically open up in original Google's YouTube app and not vanced one. This happens also when I click on youtube links in messages of whatsapp and Facebook messenger

I never faced this, but I always uninstall official YouTube app before installing vanced. I do it with titanium backup but any system apps uninstaller will work.
Flat Style Bar Indicators 5.1 work well on my phone 5t 8.1
Since every aosp Rom (last was Pixel Experience) gets laggy after some time, I decided to go to miui again, since I never had lag problems with miui.
My GF's RN4 was faster than my RN5 running PE 9.0 so I said it's time for a change.
On miui I only hated the notification lag (or no notification at all) and the, for example reply in statusbar not working like in aosp.
So, since they changed it in miui 10.3 (maybe even before?), I was quite happy with almost everything.
What I am missing is the "swipe up" to Google search, or swipe right from home screen to Google search.
I managed to deactivate the App-Vault (swipe right from home) but I dont know, how to set Google search instead of that miui search at "swipe up from home screen".
Is there a chance to do it?
Or set Google search to "swipe right from home screen"?
I haven't found an option to change the swipe gestures.
I still miss some other stuff from aosp Roms, since they are all "Google based" but miui is miui and I guess you can't have everything.
I'm on Xiaomi.eu 10.3 MIUI, Magisk installed.
Thanks!
EDIT:
With Google search I meant the Google assistant / Google Now too. I mean, it's standard feature with aosp Roms so I guess you know what I mean.. The Google search with some news underneath the search bar.

Aargh, too bad.
And is there a chance to disable that search or set anything else at that place?
That "feature" is just not necessary for me.
Actually you can enable swipe up to google search back. You just need to clear default of the mi browser in setting > installed apps > browser > clear default. You may notice that the browser doesn't have any default. Just tap on it and the swipe up gesture will open google search again.
How i notice this? Cause everytime there is mi browser update. The swipe up gesture revert back to that xiaomi browser.

Sadly not working for me.. Maybe you don't use the same version?
Also, another question.
If I flash global beta, am I going to get Google search?
If so, what are the benefits (if any) of global beta Rom if you compare it to Xiaomi.eu?
I think, Xiaomi.eu Roms are bit more optimized and debloated or?

Global beta is more stable than the stable channel (which i use currently - build 10.0.6). While there isn't any big difference between xiaomi.eu and global beta since they use the same build except for ads (which can be disable by unistalling msa apps with adb debloater). And yes, you get all google apps in global beta
Btw, can you clear default for google apps and google chrome to see if it working?

Nope, still not working.
Well I guess I have to live with it. It's not that big problem, since I can start the Google feed with the widget.
It would be good though, if you could disable the miui-search but if you have no idea how to do it, then it's alright..
thanks though!
Hey, I had the same problem and solved it! (sorry for digging up an 8 months old thread)
Get xiaomi debloater and uninstall Browser and Search (com.android.search), and voilá. At least it did work for me, on Mi 9, Xiaomi.EU rom.

actually You can enable swipe up google search if you r a root user..
you have to follow some step
step 1: reinstall the rom
step 2: root
step 3: immediately install lucky patcher
step 4: uninstall the system app browser
done!!
google swip up gesture will enable for forever until you reflash the rom.
if you follow step 3 and 4 now without reflash rom the swipe up gesture will show app not installed..
I done this before I am using swipe up google...

You can do it without root, usb debugging adb allows you to uninstall system app without root, and please do not mention L* P* here, it's against the rule to mention that app on xda.

I just wanted to let other users know that this still works on MIUI 12 ! (Mi 9 Lite)
Thanks for the hint! I tried to uninstall Mi Browser via ADB (as I did before), but that didn't work this time. Your post saved my day!
I have Mi 10t pro and I have magisk rooted version installed. If I install YouTube vanced, it runs fine.
However after some usage I find the normal version installed.
Is there anyway to make YouTube Vanced permanent installed? I am on latest stock Miui version.
Thanks for any hints.

Disable the original youtube app through adb commands - search google, there are plenty of guides how to do that and disable Automatic update on Play store.
Just take a look at New Pipe instead

I disabled YouTube app and also the automatic update on Play store and still it has been replaced.
I removed it via adb, (actually from the phone using a shell app) but the Vanced manager could not install it.
So strange...

So in the end you actually disabled the original youtube app but couldn't install vanced. Search apkmirror for these versions and install the MicroG like normal app and Vanced with SAI app from Play store:
MicroG - 0.2.13
YouTube vanced - 15.05.54.
Good luck, zaqm
When I want to see the apps that are running in the background or switch between them, the app I'm currently in isn't the one that's showing up first.
This never happened to me on any other android phone or ROM.
(This phone has the stock ROM, no bootloader, no root)
It doesn't metter if I use gesture or button navigation.
I used "universal android de-bloater" (uad gui) to remove some crap, mostly Samsung and Knox stuff, but I didn't remove anything that wasn't in the recommended list, or didn't have a clear description.
Did I do something wrong? Should I try a factory reset or is this a known issue?
See video attached:
That's defualt OneUI behavior.
If you want to have the currently running app show up first you need the HomeUp GoodLock module.

If you don't live in a country that GoodLock supports you can also download FineLock from the playstore. It has all the download links for all modules
