AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS), we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and then changed to be based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
We changed again for Android Q-R with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.

(link the best one for your device, there are several variants out there right now, nano/micro GApps from opengapps.org is almost always a good choice though)
You tell...
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look here to see what day your device is built on.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels officially?
A. No. You can still use them, but the discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is the usual behavior on flashing a new official build by (or using) the build-in updater service.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache, and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution, and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to perform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to lose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to lose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterward.
Using the ROM:
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat AND the model name. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. Do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get, and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section on the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android R. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM and GApps, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM zip file.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
As always make backups beforehand
Boot into TWRP
Flash rom (enable twrp inject) and reboot to recovery
Flash Gapps, Magisk etc. (disable twrp inject) and factory reset + format data
Reboot to system and profit
How to update:
Boot into TWRP and flash rom (enable twrp inject)
Reboot to recovery and flash Gapps, Magisk etc. (disable twrp inject)
Reboot to system
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 20.3 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices, you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.

You are on great one
Great, only one question, could it flash (clean) over another aosp or have to move to miui before?

1 Flash rom in twrp
2 Reboot recovery
3 Format data.
4 Reboot to system
Should work without the need of flashing MIUI

Is there a way to remove the Dolby Motorola? the sound here is sometimes bursting, otherwise the ROM is perfect.

Clean flash from 12.5 global
Touch screen is finicky sometimes. Not sure if it's slow or not responding.
I'll be browsing and suddenly scroll will stop working on the middle of the screen where I was scrolling but if I move my thumb to another area of the screen it starts working, if I go back to the same area that wasn't working it is also working. Foss browser and bromite.
Netflix randomly does an irrecoverable crash. The phone will not respond none of the buttons work and the phone will reset on it's own.
I was having an issue with Google maps but it was a Gapps issue.
I'll try to get a log.
Battery is beautiful, everything seems to be good.

I used Nikgapps Core. But didn't install Extra files
No add-ons
I reflashed with extra files all good.
Maps would force close as soon as it seemed to login. I read on forums if you use an older version it would solve the issue. Which it did but it would complain about Gapps missing and wouldn't detect my account. So I thought it must be Gapps and it was.
How do I make the log survive the restart?

Does this rom have livedisplay? Crash might be related to that. I'm facing similar issues on evox

What do you mean live display you mean ambient display? AOD?
Most roms have it
One quick question , on the creation of the thread, you state the rom release as "official", but the download link redirects us to the rom that is renamed to "unofficial". Which one is valid ?

I think what @CerealKiiller Says is true. I faced a crash in DOT OS related to live display. Its not AOD. Its optimization of your screen based on time and day. Basically something like color adjustment. The crash log indicate this error - "Picture Adjustment Backend not ready". At this point, your device just freezes on the app you are using and just reboots. This happens in any video playing apps, whatsapp video calls, etc. I just flashed Syberia OS and this exact crash happened. I am not sure if this is a kernel thing because the only link between DOT OS and Syberia is Quantic kernel.
Actually figured it out. Someone in telegram pointed it out. If you update you miui 12.5 then Flash the ROM you get this crash.
If you come from 12.0.5 no issues

A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP. Custom ROMs modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROMs. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. Xposed is not yet released for Pie, however you can try to use edxposed .
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.

Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.)

1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Reboot and set up your device, enable developer settings and in them OEM unlock/Advanced reboot/USB tethering.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on AvB Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 17.2 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.

Volte is not working , any fix for volte ?
in the bottom of post it says Status as alpha, but in the mid of post at downloads section it lists version 14.0 as stable.
so is this stable or alpha? if alpha then is it enough to be a daily driver?
can't wait to test.
Review : And First Impression..
The User interface is damn smooth..
Its the very first build and is still in alpha stage hence there are bugs too..
I clean flashed the rom..
Issues i faced :-
Style in Display is not working (accent color and background color etc)
Status bar customization like AM PM is not working..
But the main prblm i faced was I was not able to hear voice in call and not even my voice was audible to the other..
But as i said its the very first build..
Hats off devs and i hope this will surely be one of the best daily drivers like aicp 13.1
Hello,

Unfortunately not ready for daily usage. I dont blame, its just for others to know.
- No voice on phone calls
- Buttons menu dont open
Just two issues but those are killers for most.
I prefer AICP over AOSPExtended and I used it for Oreo - but not on Pie for now. Maybe next shot.
To fix that audio problem for now, switch on mono audio instead in settings. It will fix that audio probs:good:
I Connected My zuk To A Quick Charger And It was disconnecting quickly now it's not charging with my phone's original charger and isn't connecting to my pc too and when I charge it while it's switched off it's giving vibrations periodically anyone knows what's the problem?

A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android R. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM and GApps, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
Google Playstore to work), GApps are already included for some a/b devices.
Magisk versions >= 20.3 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.

Let's wait, personally, I'm not in a hurry)
A big request, if there are assemblies with preinstalled gapps, then let them be minimal, while maintaining regular calls and aosp messages

Loved the rom. I'll patiently wait for the brightness issue to be resolved. I think its quite a concern for most people so maybe the BT fixed build wont be used a lot. Thanks a lot for considering AICP. I also hope you add very minimal gapps (personally prefer vanilla build)

Love your work man, I'll flash your next build but if you decide to make a prebuilt gapps version, can you please either do only core apps or provide a vanilla version as well?
Also waiting for your caf rom as well, such an amazing rom that would be.
Is this still updated?

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*

Q. Does this ROM include GApps or do I have to flash them separately?
A. No, we do not include prebuilt GApps, because of possible licensing issues with Google Software and because some users do not want GApps preinstalled as they want to use alternative services like MicroG or just prefer flashing a GApps "flavor" of their liking.
Q. Does this ROM use the camera or gallery app from stock?
A. It depends on the device. In most cases these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on Github or we risk having the ROM banned from Github. In this case, we might try to make them installable (separate from the ROM zip), or we might provide a version of these apps with the ROM that doesn't include any proprietary libs. It's also sometimes the case that these apps are simply not included because we didn't feel the need to do so for the device in question.
Q. Does this ROM have Extended/Scrolling screenshot?
A. No, extended screenshot was implemented using an app extracted and modified from manufacturer firmware/system images and is proprietary as well. It led to the closing of many ROM's sources on GitHub.
Q. Does this ROM have FaceUnlock?
A. No, FaceUnlock was also an app extracted and modified from some manufacturers. Even Google removed the Trusted Face (FaceUnlock) feature for security reasons on Android 9.0/10.x. Adding the modified feature did the same to ROM sources as described above.
Q. Can you add (insert favorite weather provider)?
A. No, we cannot add more weather providers as the implementations change and we (the ROM) now have to pay for most services, and that is not cheap, so we decided to use the best free service that we could find, the only way to add your own is for users to apply for their own API key to use their preferred service.
Q. Does this ROM have private official builds with the above proprietary libs included?
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from github and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Thanks.)

How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
NOTE:
WE ARE ENCRYPTED (FILE BASED FORCED ENCRYPTION). So if you are unencrypted format data partition or use any no_verity solution you want. We don't support it.
Needed firmware: 10.0.1
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM zip file.

Flashed last build on my op5, very best
what is the sot on this rom
@csolanol gesture navigation not working
(working fine in "Dot OS")
And face unlock is yet to be implemented
Hello all,
is there a possibility in the application history,
to set the function for "Close all apps" from the left side to the front ?
Then you don't need to swipe through all the open apps first.
Otherwise, this is a very good custom rom.
A big compliment to the developers.
I installed this ROM yesterday and it worked perfectly but today I restarted my phone and now it's stuck on "phone is starting..."
any idea's how to sort this?
Flashed today, everything stable and working nicely. Thanks dev. Only thing I miss is dotfix pre installed but no biggie
EDIT: auto-flash on camera doesn't work? all picture is black... only with activated flash i can do some pictures
I did a clean install on my unrooted device. However most of banking apps are now detecting root. The device is safetyNew test.

Enable magisk hide for bank apps and root beer.
Thanks to the developer for a good stable rom. Below additions would make it more usable-
1. Currently, the minimum number of rows of notification is fixed at 2. Can be that made as 1?
2. Could you the OP5 camera fix be shipped with the rom itself?
3. Ambient sensor sensitivity was better and smoother in earlier builts. Seems less smooth in more recent builds.
Thanks for update 13/09/2021

Answered in the FAQ.
I broke the screen on my OP7T last night. So happy my OP5 was up to date with AICP this morning. AICP works every time!
Thanks Guys!
This is the best ROM I've tried in a long time. And damn, I've tried basically every ROM now: crDroid, Pixel Exp. Plus, AOSP, POSP and Lineage. And all these just for Android 11.
I'm donating as soon as I get a new job, which hopefully will happen soon.
Thank you so much. Keep it up!
Hey, two things: Is there a way to turn off the battery percentage orange tint while on Battery Saver Mode? Is there a way to allow the brightness slider into the quick settings? I need to pull it completely in order to show the slider, but in many ROMs a setting allows it to be shown on the quick panel.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure, but as a work around in Settings>AICP>Status bar>Gestures
You can turn on quick pull down which will pull down the QS panel in one swipe. It can be set to go from either the right or left side. I set mine up that way so I use one swipe for full QS access which gives me the brightness slider.

I was hoping a specific settings that would allow to move the brightness to the bottom instead of the top, but that works. Thank you!

1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP is recommended, the lineage recovery is a great alternative however, it will not decrypt the internal storage so you will have to flash the rom with adb sideload or usb OTG or with an external sdcard).
3. Wipe the System (DO NOT WIPE THE SYSTEM ON A/B DEVICES!), Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM zip file (reboot to recovery before flashing anything else if you have an "A/B" device).
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work)
6. Reboot and set up your device.
7. You can then reboot to recovery and flash the root solution of your choice if you want to, and then boot back to the system.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on A/B Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 20.4 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
Instructions for OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates) on "A only" devices (not A/B):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices, you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.
Open the updater app, download the update, then press install, press reboot when prompted, you will be taken to TWRP, there isn't any need to flash GApps separately
Instructions for OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates) on "A/B" devices:
Open the updater app, download the update, then press install and wait for the process to finish (feel free to let it run in the background), then press reboot when prompted, there isn't any need to flash GApps separately

Awesome!
So far ony thing i noticed is that under aicp settings quick settings if you try to turn off edit icon power menu etc from pulldown they are still there.other then that so far very nice
Oh man, I wish I had a Pro! I haven't seen an AICP ROM on so many years!
Few questions!
1. I understand this not official ACIP, however, is official kernel been used in the rom or some other custom kernel (kernel details will be preferable).
2. Is Oneplus setting available.
3. How is the sound quality compare to other rom and also mic working fine, is there any type of echo or even distortion in the sound qulaity.
4. Is wrap charging available.
5. Is AOD working fine, becuase some roms in Oneplus developing section the AOD (Ambient Display) is too dim it's extremely hard to see in daylight condition unless power button is pressed.

1. The kernel being used here is the same one used in MSMXtended.
2. Yes, OnePlus settings are available
3. I don't think so, but test it out and let me know.
4. Most likely not.
5. AOD is working.

LOL I was the first victim. Let me try the new version now.
Awesome ROM. Super fast and cool. Have not run into overheating in the last couple of hours. I like this kernel on AICP. There are a couple of minor bugs I ran into no big deal. Once they pop up again I will address them.
Questions:
Where is the 60/120hz button?
Can we add reTicker for notifications?

The settings to switch 60hz or 120hz, I can't find it.
ReTicker changes the notifications bubble aod to a scrolling line aod.
When pressing power key for me it only opens Google assistant... Anyone else having this problem or is it something I've done wrong?

It's dumb. You have to press the Volume Up button and the Power Button.

Maybe the setting to change that is not present in this ROM. Maybe ReTicker works? I've never tried it before.

We changed again for Android Q-S with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*

Google Apps:
We recommend MindTheGapps as it has been thoroughly tested and it works well with the ROM, some other minimal (and others) GApps packages could have issues, so try using MindTheGapps if you have any issues with other GApps packages

In most cases, these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on GitHub or we risk having the ROM banned from GitHub.
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from GitHub, and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is how users can/should install updates most of the time, this can be done with the built-in updater service or with a custom recovery.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A 1. For "A only" devices: Wipe the System, Cache, and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution, and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to perform that task for you.
A 2. For "A/B" devices": Wipe the ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, reboot to the recovery, flash GApps, your preferred root solution, and reboot.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android S.
Magisk versions >= 20.4 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.

this one works best. all newer Gapps packages seem to have issues right now (Setupwizard endless loop or Android intelligence crashing)
Two things that are not working:
1. Settings - AICP Extras - Keys - Long press power button for torch. This function never worked on 17.1 (I'm on AICP since very first beta).
2. Alarm clock will not ring (vibration, if set, works OK) if "Gradually increase volume" option is enabled in clock settings. I think alarm was working fine in beta but never worked properly after official ROM release. In very first official release alarm would not ring even if this option was not enabled.
Can't we somehow port the Active-Edge full customizability from DU and use it here? It's missing in so many ROMs.
Also, for this September build, which gapps are you recommending?

My personal experience: this ROM has serious issues with gapps and those issues make this ROM unusable :-(
I did try all gapps packages I could find on the net with AICP and none are working as they suppose to: most common is system intelligence crashing (your case). Workaround to this is to disable crashing app, but outcome is always the same - phone is working OK for few days before it freezes to death (stops responding and wouldn't boot without complete data wipe after forced power-off; this happens on completely random basis: my best result was 5 no problem days). I even did try gapps cocktail (NikGapps + Flame gapps if I remember correctly) and (surprise!) it worked perfectly for two weeks, but in this case, phone wouldn't boot after update (known issue with all ROMs).
I'm in process of testing few other ROMs, but results are unsatisfying so far :-( Thinking about going back to AICP 16.1 or even further back to DDU now…
