fastboot after twrp wipe/format - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Edit: installing OS doesn't show any succed messages, jsut "patching system unconditionaly" and nothin at the end...
Hello everyone, I have big problem with my redmi 8 (olive) device. I'm tryin to install custom ROM on it, but everytime I wipe needed things in twrp, formattin data, my device is goin to perma fastboot - rebootin with volume+power button to twrp doesn't work. Only one solution to solve it to boot to system/recovery is flashin official rom via miflashtool. when we have exaplme instruction for CrDroid olive:
Spoiler: instruction from official thread of crdroid for redmi 8 olive
Reboot into recovery
[*]Format data -> Yes
[*]Reboot -> Recovery
[*]Wipe dalvik cache, data, cache, system, vendor, internal storage
[*]Reboot -> Recovery
[*]Install ROM
[*]Install GApps, Magisk if needed
[*]Wipe dalvik cache
[*]Reboot -> System
I'm stuckin at first reboot to recovery and phone is forcin fastboot without ability to boot twrp/fox and can't do a sh*t.
I try to install GSI or normal .zip roms with gapps, w/o gapps, nothing works for me, flashin other than official system.img from zip for miflashtool ending like above or on bootlop with redmi logo... I wish someone can help me fast.

Mi 9 SE in boot loop after rom flash

dear all, after flashing Xiaomi.eu 20.3.19 update I am stuck in a bootloop to the recovey or to the boot loader.
after the second attempt to flash the zip file I was not able to enter my my so the interal sd card is vlocked.
I have access to the otg drive but.
I tried additional the following:
Format data, caches and system
Install 20.3.19 via OTG
install 20.3-12 via otg
install fresh magisk 20.3 via TWRP
updarde to the newest TWRP
downgrade to an older TWRP
all without success
Does anybody have an idea to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance
If you want to flash xiaomi.eu you shouldn't wipe system when flashing from miui. It won't boot if you wipe system. So now you must flash miui with miflash. Then twrp and xiaomi.eu (wipe cache, dalvick)
Thanks alot for the swift reply.
This is the first time that I had this issue and now I am totally stuck, is there no other way than mi flash?
If I well remember flashing the factor< image will erase everything?
I made a backup but due to the locked internal sd card I have not access on this data.
Thanks for the support
Now I have another problem,
As soon as I start the Mi flash tool or the Mi unlock tool the device shuts down from bootloader mode.
I´m Stuck
Thanks for support
Maybe you have some driver problems?
@baltes: ...or try another cable or another USB-port
Thank a lot,
Ich changed the cable and the USB port as well. No change
I downloaded the standard ADB and Fastboot drivers ver 1.4.3.
I don´t hope the the devise is not toally bricked
@baltes: uninstall ADB/fastboot, Mi tools and Mi drivers. Reboot, install MiFlash again and let it install the needed drivers.

Thanks,
I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled miflashtool, no change as soon as I select refresh the 9SE shuts down (from bootloader)
I managed to erase the internal storage in TWRP, Im able now toto copy MIUI zip on the interal storage and install it successfully. but reboot is then still again innTWRP
So flash some aosp based Rom. Wipe cache, dalvick, data and system before. Do not flash magisk or other mods. Just Rom and gapps. That kind of Rom should boot. Then you can try flash latest global miui Android 10 with miflash and start over to xiaomi.eu.
@baltes: I wouldn't use AOSP to get MiUI runnable. If you do so,
* format data
* reboot to recovery
* wipe system, vendor, data, both caches
* flash ROM, no GApps
Better make a clean base by MiFlash: now you first say, that Fastboot only aborts when clicking Refresh. I don't remember this tool, but are there other options besides Refresh?

Xiaomi Max 3 stuck on boot after Unlock + TWRP Format Data

So here's what I did to cause my phone to get stuck on the logo screen:
1. Unlocked my phone using the Mi Unlock
2. Used ADB to install twrp-3.3.1-0-nitrogen
3. I couldn't mount my Data or SD Card folders due to encryption, so someone told me to use TWRP to format data, which I did. It didn't boot up after that.
I've tried the following fixes:
1. TWRP > Advanced Wipe > Cache / Data / Internal Storage / System
2. TWRP > Install > MIUI 11 V11.0.2.0.PEDCNXM
3. TWRP > Install > MIUI 11 V11.0.3.0.PEDCNXM
4. TWRP > Install > Magisk-v20.4
No luck, still stuck on boot. Anyone kind enough to please help?
I had the same problem when I backed up the global rom with OrangeFox and restarted the system without installing anything.
The following procedure worked for me.
User the latest version of TWRP 3.3.1 do not use OrangeFox
1. First you must remove the encryption, Wipe> Format Data, confirm by typing "yes"
2. Advanced Wipe and clean Dalvik, Cache, Data, System and Vendor.
3. Then proceed with the installation.
In my case I installed xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX3_V11.0.2.0.QEDCNXM_v11-10
Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the reply!
I somehow managed to get it working with OrangeFox, so I'm going to try it for awhile till it breaks. But I can't seem to pass the SafetyNet Check in Magisk, so I might have to your tips eventually.
What I did was:
1. Use the MI Flash tool + 11.03 CN Fastboot ROM to get out of the boot loop.
2. Loaded OrangeFox-R10.1-stable-nitrogen and Magisk-v20.4 on an SD Card
3. ADB + Fastboot to install twrp-3.3.1-0-nitrogen, then installed OrangeFox
4. Using OrangeFox, installed Magisk-v20.4

I have not yet rooted with magisk on xiaomi.eu so I have no way of giving an opinion on what may have gone wrong in your case.
But did you install the most current magisk from magisk.me and clear the cache?
maybe this video can help you. shows a Brazilian installing orangefox and rooting with magisk in the global rom and everything works, Magisk passes the SafetyNet test. https://youtu.be/O5bq1HMFREI?t=328

Custom ROMS don't work on my device, how do I restore MIUI?

Hello, unfortunately I've tried flashing Pixel Experience and LineageOS along with the vendor.img from the PE thread but they both don't boot up (infinite loading screen). Also the official TWRP doesn't work for me, but the unofficial one by wzsx150 (LR team) does work.
The problem now is that I cannot restore MIUI back. I've tried restoring all the backups I made prior flashing any vendor or custom ROM (except for the Data partition) but it does not boot, so I have downloaded the EU firmware from the official website and tried to flash it. These are the steps I follow:
-Wipe System, Vendor, Data, Internal Storage, Cache, Cache / Dalvik
-Flash MIUI zip
-Enter fastboot
-Re-apply anti-brick fix
-Flash vbmeta.img (taken from the official MIUI zip) with following command:
Code:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
And this is what I get:
When I first turn on the device, I get the Redmi logo for about 20 seconds, then it reboots automatically. At the startup, TWRP automatically boots instead of System.
How do I fix it?
One last thing: I have the EEU version, idk if that's the root of all the problems I had.

Well, I think I'm in condition n.1 "Can'boot to home screen but you can still enter recovery mode. Then download the firmware update.zip to install it via recovery mode.". As you can see, I've already tried flashing MIUI. It doesn't boot.

Seeing as you have already tried that I would move onto the flashing via fastboot or miflash method.
Hello. I'll close the thread here for now, as an user helped me to install Pixel Experience successfully. Thanks a lot for the help!
(for those who have problems with custom roms, in short: after flashing the zip file, go to the Advanced tab in the unofficial TWRP and choose "Close AVB2.0" and then "RM Encrypt". Apply both of these fixed with ALL the boxes checked for both options. Done!).

I'm having problems with TWRP and OrangeFox, permission errors all the time

I'm facing some permissions problems and thus being unable to install Paranoid Android Q5. I was using MIUI 12 (Xiaomi.EU).
The steps I took to change the ROM:
Formated data (errors started right away) then I did the usual wipes (cache, dalvik, data)
Whenever I try to wipe or format data I get error messages like: Error opening /data/XXX (Operation not permitted).
System is always mounted read-only no matter what I try and after I install any ROM many of these error messages pop up.
Orange Fox gives some error about key.
Flashing of the ROM suceeds, but system cannot boot, loading screen forever.
Can anyone point me some directions?
Thanks in advance and sorry about any possible bad grammar.

Mount system, vendor and data manually and then try. If fails then try with pitchblack recovery.

Any update on this?
I still had those problems. I don't know if it is a problem with the TWRP or something similar. Is there any progress to solve this problem? I wanted to try the pixel experience betas with Android 11 but because of this problem with the TWRP I have not succeeded (in case I have Android 10 under MIUI 12.0.3 and RN8 Ginkgo model and obviously unlocked bootloader)

Format data ..(backup first if u need ) .. the boot to recovery again ... Should decrypt the data ... Worked for me ...
I am having this exact problem.
Under internal storage (sdcard) I see a bunch of hashed folders I cannot open.
Format data returns a multitude of "Error opening '/data/somefolder/asdf/asdf' (Operation not permitted) and marks the wipe as Failed. The attempted formatting also mentions "E:Error making /sdcard/Fox directory: Required key not available." "Failed to unmount '/data' (Device or resource busy)
I can wipe anything except Data. I also tried downgrading to 12.0.1 firmware but it does not fix it for me.
The ROM can be booted into, and magisk managed to be installed, but no google apps were installed.

I tried this, but no luck on my side.
Recovery download link on description. Only for Note 8/8T.
I flashed it with fastboot and works fine!
A problem like this was the one I had since TWRP had the device encrypted but it did not inform me and it did not give me any sign that I had to write a password (password that I have no idea what it is).
What I did so that it did not give me an error was to install Orangefox and while there delete everything and install a file of these that I got from google.
I had to try one by one and restart to see if it asked me for a password in orangefox, luckily one worked and it no longer asked me to decrypt the files and I could install the rom and gapps normally

Can't wipe it still, I already try the Mount > ✓ Vendor ✓ System.. but in formatting it say's "Cant Mount the....blah..blah.."
I try to uncheck the "Mount System vendor, system as read-only" from the settings of mount.. but for some reason, if you go back to Mount options again, you can't check the system, vendor now

Yes, I need it to flash a ROM
try this it worked
Had the same issue.
1. I installed twrp via ADB
2. Restarted to recovery mode into twrp
3. Installed the latest OrangeFox and restarted into recovery again.
4. It asked me for a password which is the pin I set then proceeded to format data.
5. After formatting data I restarted again to recovery.
Then I was able to install custom roms.
I am using derpfest Android 12 on my Poco x3 pro. I want to install magisk.zip through orange fox recovery installed on my phone. But I am not getting storage data on recovery, only a fox folder is there. Can somebody tell me is it a glitch or any Android 12 restrictions or something.
