From time to time my MDA freezes, a soft reset is the result. Sometimes it only starts up with a white screen...and sometimes when I didn't use the device for a minute of 15 it freezes after entering my security code...
What can it be? I have the below stated firmware...help!!!
cant help this i am affraid. It seems it only occurs when you switch bt on. If you leave bt off (switch off after using) the problem should not exist.
Tnx for the quick reply! I will try it. I also have seen an update for Tomtom 5.
I also read about a Tomtom 5 update. I have installed it also.
Perhaps it solves also the problem of not responding to the on/off button. Maybe you have a solution?
My BT-338 freezes when it's fixing! It hangs up whenever it gets a fixing and green light starts blinking! It correctly sends data via bluetooth to the connected device as long as the green light is steady! As soon as it starts blinking no more data are sent. What should I do ? Tried with cold start and battery removal. The bug seems to persist! Is it possible that when the green light blinks, for unknown reasons it automatically switches to a different baud-rate (other than 38400) ?? Please help !!!
That's an odd one. How are you testing this? What application are you using to confirm a bluetooth connection and whether data is being sent?
I'm wondering if the BT-338 is sending data in a format that the application dosn't understand, ie the 338 is sending out NMEA data format, but the application wants another format.
An application comes with the device on a CD ( I can't remember it's name) This application allows you to change these settings.
Tested it with GPSinfo for WM5 (the application you didn't remember) and with TomTom 5.21. I experienced a sudden lack of data, with both the applications. After a correct pairing and a couple of minutes of receiving data from satellites, suddenly no more data arriving anymore. In order to isolate the problem and discover if the bug was sistematic or purely random, I paired the antenna with my Desktop PC, and used SirfDemo to test it. And I discovered that the antenna freezes as soon as the green light starts blinking, regardless the data protocol (SIRF or NMEA). Of course I restored NMEA before leaving SirfDemo, but that's not a protocol problem, it's a radio transmission one. It looks like it suddenly switches baud rate (other than 38400) as soon as it gets a fix from satellites. Any idea ?
I aslo obtained the BT-338 recently and it works perfect.
As far as I know a blinking green led indicates a fix, a steady green
led means no fix.
Cheers
Hy,
I have a big problem out of nowhere. The phone worked ok for more than y6 mths, while i haven't change the ROM. I found it blocked, not answering to any command, touchscreen or button. Soft reset it (red back-button) and it started but phone module was off, airplane mode on. I tried several times to switch them (phone, on, or airplane off) but unsuccessfull. Morover the touch screen is not getting any command but still the buttons work (phome, home, volume, midbutton). I hardSPL (OlixNet) and then installed a fresh rom (energy). the phone problem persists toghether with the screen problem which is appearing even immediatelly after starting up, or after 10 mins, varies. I also tried to disable the Sense, but same result.
ANother thing i have observed is that the battery drains very fast and the back low part of the device is getting warm after trying to use and few restarts..
I will try to give it an HTC rom to see if something's changeing.
Any of you had such issues with it? what should i do?
Thanks guys,
You may want to try mtty:

I could be also a cracked touchscreen in an early stage with a small crack, which happened to me.
Good luck!
Guys,
i too have the same screen problem,i tried changing various rom's still the problem persists. After new rom installation screen calibration needs to b done a number of times to finally start the mobile with home screen.
And then problem appears immediatelly after starting up, or after 10 mins. Touch doesn't respond correctly to my command instead it reads some other commands and finally gets stuck while other harware keeps working perfectly.
so, anybody could short out dis problem.......it seem to b a common problem to many people who keep changing there rom's frequently
Android 2.2

90% of the time the phone is OK, however occasionally (and for no obvious reason) it starts responding very randomly to user input: not registering input, activating items that have not been selected and other random activity.
I installed a basic drawing app to see exactly what the screen was up to during these episodes... I've got a Video (vimeo) online that shows that the screen input seems to be screwed but I'm not able to insert links yet coz I'm new here...

The phone has been back for repair once. Factory restore carried out and nothing was identified as wrong, but the problem keeps on happening... any ideas what's going on here?
Thanks
Maybe a damged/faulty digitizer? You are stock & already did a factory reset - but no change.
Strange is, that it only occurs randomly.
Everything was working fine with my device, except for not catching up signal in a first time activation. I flashed it several times, but although I got signal, never was able to receive calls, i guess because some parameters were not correct. At some point in my frustration, I end messing up with 'programming->band' values. Then after Rebooting the phone, it was no longer working properly.
Misfuctions detected so far
- When you boot, it will get stuck on 'starting services...' screen. Until you turn off & on the screen with power button.
- If you disable wifi, you can't turn it on again, if you try, it will stuck on 'turning on wifi...' until you reboot.
- Of course there is 'No service'.
-But MOST IMPORTANLY: At the top of DFS CDMA Tool window, 'ESN' & 'MIN' values intermittently change from "actual values" to "CPS_ERROR" message. And under 'Equipment' most values intermittently change from actual values to multiple "CPS ERROR", "CPS BPSR" errors or empty fields . So I am unsure whether I can re-flash it again.
My guess is that Radio chip went bad at hardware level into the commuications chip or perhaps at software level into the '/radio'? partition (is this where 'band' get flashed to right?). but what do I know...
Any toughts?
