Greetings everybody!
I recently got an android update to 7.60, which made the phone less worse, but didn´t cut all of the problems i had. After some new installations, I got sick of this firmware and decided to unlock the bootloader and switch to a custom rom. Unfortunately I am not able to unlock the bootloader with the instructions and got to the conclusion, that I have to downgrade android (don´t I?).
I am not very experienced in unlocking, rooting and so on, so I would love to have a full guide on how to get from android 11 7.60 to, what I believe is my best choice, Ressurection Remix.
I know there are many treats about this, but it seems not consequent and straight forward how different people get through this process.
Some links for the relevant files would be nice, especially for the unbrick tool, that I have to use and the rom, I have to downgrade to.
Thank you very much for your help and keep healthy

Have you unlocked your bootloader ?
No not too sure how to do that. Any good threads you guys reccomend.
Many thanks
So I know this is scary for you and because it is something new, therefore be sure that you want to live with the responsability if something goes wrong.
Now, the next forum thread tells you how to flash an already rooted image BUT, and this is very important, this works only if you have the version 10c installed (Check in About Phone>Software Version)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
If you have the latest version of the software (20a) the best thing is to unlock your bootloader, void your warranty in the process, and flash a custom recovery. After that, you just need to flash the SuperSu zip file and you will have root.
To flash custom ROMs, just access recovery and flash the zip file of your ROM.
I'm using the unofficial CM13.0 and works very good for me, but I do miss the official camera app.
Thankyou very much for your advice okarr. Will look into this
I'm... asking for a friend....
But seriously, I tried following the instructions on the "[Guide] Step by Step from Stock N910V 6.0.1 to hsbadr's CyanogenMod 13.0 " thread, intending to bypass them when I got to the point of being able to jump over to the newer roms, and all I got was a boot loop when I tried flashing in 5.1.1. Is it because I'm on a retail 910v or was it a user error kinda thing? I tried multiple times and couldn't get it to boot after the flash, ended up flashing 6.0.1 back just to get my phone back.
I'm also ready to free the bootloader and root this thing. It seems emotion OS is the most popular and up to date now, correct?
I have the CPL1 update from Verizon( Dec patch). I know there are a bunch of threads with how tos, but it's unclear how outdated they are and whether it works with these latest versions. If someone can confirm the best way to go from cp1 to emotion.. Let me know.
Also.. I saw a while ago a guide on how to go to developer edition. Why isn't that front and center anymore? Isn't Dev edition completely unlocked... Why wouldn't I want to convert to dev edition before dealing with any rom changes? If someone can give some clarification I'd appreciate it.
Great news, I went for the plunge and succeeded. Confirmed -> stock and latest version software as of Jan 20 2017 (CPL1) can be downgraded to 5.1.1, rooted, TWRPed, and blah blah. I used the same guide you mentioned at top (hsbadr's CM13 guide), except i stopped at step 52 and continued to install emotion OS instead. Highly recommend it.
I'm on EmotionOS now. Wow, it was really worth it. So smooth compared to touchwiz 6.0.1. Haven't found a bug yet, but even if i do, i won't care.
I'm not sure what you mean "when i got to the point of installing newer roms". If you got to that point, why were you trying to flash 5.1.1 again?
How did you root it? I flashed mine back to 5.1.1, but I'm not having any luck rooting.

Follow the guide. You are going to go through a complicated process using the king root apk. I think the guide makes you use king root 3 times total to accomplish various parts of the process. King root loads up and spins for a few minutes, eventually succeeds, then you gotta punch in some things to command line using adb. I believe this is rooting your phone a few times.
Eventually you end up with twrp bootloader and jasmine Rom and everything just sticks.
So far.. The only annoying thing with emotion is that I lost volte and video calling. Maybe they'll bring it in one day.
I have a 32GB Global Hydrogen. I just updated to MIUI 8 (8.1.6.0) and I hate it, I want to go back to the last version of MIUI 7 which I think was 7.5.7.0.
I have read so many threads and watched so many videos on how to do this. Everyone says different things, its never a Mi Max specifically, plus the English is so appalling that I really can't tell what to do. I'm a noob at this so apologies.
So whats the proper method of downgrading? Does the phone have to be boot loader unlocked to downgrade?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
You should download a fastboot Rom and flash it on edl mode
Here's a link to the official tutorial on how to flash a MIUI ROM in Fastboot mode. This link also contains all currently available fastboot ROMs for Xiaomi devices, but only the latest versions, so MIUI 8 for the Mi Max.
This will be the tutorial to follow in order to restore your Mi Max to a previous version, but I'm not sure where you'll find a Fastboot ROM of MIUI 7.

Thank you for the replies, I really appreciate the help.
So to downgrade you HAVE to unlock the phone using MI's tool first? I did find the 7.5.7.0 rom at en.miui.com but I don't even know if that site or link is really official, you can never tell because if those are official forums they are run appallingly and are full of misinformation. I also heard you can break the SIM slots downgrading (something about losing the IMEI numbers)?
I am getting so annoyed with MIUI's dev team, awful stylistic design choices for example the horrid white notification blind with the weather app I don't want and the colour you can't change etc. Also the worst thing of all is the memory management where whatever you do you can't get apps to stay open or notifications to occur reliably.
The OS just gets worse and worse with every update ruining good hardware. Might just bite the bullet after the warranty is over and switch to something like Lineage but I am a total noob and very scared of bricking it.
Yes there are some issues like losing imei but it never happened with me as I have unlocked officialy and I tries every custom rom in my phone and many times if something goes wrong I upgrade or downgrade to miui using mi flash tool.
I suggest you if you want to downgrade then go for 8.1.6.0 as I always uses this version to downgrade.
However once I downgraded to miui 7.5 rom (probably oldest miui for mi max) then i had serious unstable phone and my phone became unusable.
I am on Nougat Resurection Remix 5.8.5 by ROMFACTORY. I have made a backup of MIUI Version: V8.5.1.0.NBCMIED (MIUI8) after unlocking bootloader and rooting it.
Is it safe to load that backup through TWRP ?
What are the steps to follow ?
Bootloader must be unlocked; and downgrading should be using MiFlash tool only!!! Most safest approach i always followed and never had any issues so far!!
I have a stock T-Mobile HTC 10 running the "latest" (October 2017) ROM. I'm thinking it's time to get a newer version (maybe/hopefully Pie?) so I've been looking here for information. Unfortunately it doesn't quite seem as straight forward as I had hoped, so now I have some questions.
I've been reading that Oreo seems to be a bigger battery drain than Nougat. Is this so, and if so would I be better off not doing anything (my battery isn't as good as it used to but I can still get by most of the day without issue)?
Do I need to s-off in order to upgrade or is unlocking via HTC Dev enough?
Any suggestions on a tool to backup my current data?
Is the general process as follows?
s-off/HTC Dev unlock
Flash TWRP
Flash custom ROM
Sorry for any silly questions. I appreciate any help!
So a while ago I updated to Android 11 and I now can't install custom ROMs, and with it came quicker battery drain and worse performance, so is there a way I can safely downgrade it back to A10? I see a lot of people brick their device by trying to downgrade and this is my only usable device so I have to be really careful. Any links to other treads (preferably for xt2045-2) would be highly appreciated.
Also I saw somewhere that downgrading the bootloader is impossible? What's up with that and can it cause boot loops? Any help would be appreciated.
