I have a SM-T970 and the June update is out on Sammoble for pretty much every other Tab S7 version except my SM-T970 which for some unknown reason Sammoble never updates on the site ?
Can I safely flash any of the other Tab S7 units firmware's or do I have to wait for the exact SM-T970 firmware ?

Thanks I didn't know that site existed. How long has this update been out kicking around on that site?
Seems the ota update just hit for me anyways with in the past hour
I saw the update showed up on that site around late afternoon. I checked in the morning and didn't see the update. Aynway, I can't do ota update since my device is rooted. So I had to updated it in different way.

If you notice most of the S7 models tend to get the updates way sooner then the SM-T970. Wondering do you know is it possible to update from a different firmware or does it need to be the exact model ?
I just tried downlading the latest BUF5 firmware from samfrew.com. unless you want to pay them for fast speed DL, it will be very slow (my DL estimate was 10+ hours when I tried). They also have an option to save the file to your Google Drive, but i couldnt get it to work. The DL would never start, and the file didnt show up in my Drive.
I instead recommend using galaxyfirmware.com. Just search for the device/model, click the firmware you want. If you want a fast DL without paying, choose the option to share it to your GDrive. It will redirect you to Google where you'll log in. After it's shared to your Drive, just open the Drive app and DL it from there. Or go to drive.google.com in a Web browser.
SamMobile has long since been the most popular site for Samsung firmware downloads, it's where alot of the other firmware sites get their files from. But, unless you pay for a sub, your DL will be very slow. I also couldnt find the BUF5 firmware on SamMobile, but both samfrew.com and galaxyfirmware.com have it.
To my knowledge, the XAR firmware variant is the correct one for the Tab S7+ US region. If you're in another country, then choose a different region when searching for firmwares. So basically, choose SM-T970 for the wifi only Tab S7+. Then choose your region code (XAR, for me). Galaxyfirmware.com makes it easy to know which region a particular code is for. After that, just choose the firmware version you want (BUF5 for me, or something else if you prefer). They sort their firmwares by date released and Android version, so it's easy to see which is the latest.
@Markeee: You generally have to use a firmware that is for the exact model that you have. SM-T970 is the model # for the wifi only Tab S7+, the LTE/5G versions of this tab have a different model #. So, for example, you can't flash a Tab S7 firmware on a Tab S7+. And you also can't flash a LTE/5G firmware on the wifi only model. You can update/flash a "different" firmware, but it has to be for the *SAME* model that you have. As long as the model of the firmware matches what you have, you're golden.
I also forgot to say that (on our tab model) you cant downgrade to a firmware that uses version 1 bootloader, if you're already using a firmware that has a version 2 bootloader. Samsung released an update this year that prevents downgrading in this scenario. As an example, i'm currently running T970XXU2BUF5. The U2 in that denotes version 2 bootloader, U1 in a firmware name is for version 1 bootloader. You can upgrade from U1 to U2, but not backwards. So dont try this, it wont work. And be mindful of what you're flashing.

@Markeee: I've disabled the built in firmware updater in my tab, without root or a PC. You need an app called LADB (paid only, but worth it, or you can compile the app from source code for free), a wifi network, wireless debugging enabled in developer settings, and Android 11. LADB lets you use ADB commands directly on device, which would normally require a PC. You just need to know the package name of the updater, then a single command to either disable or uninstall it. None of this will void warranty, trip Knox. i did this a few weeks ago, tablet functionality isnt affected, everything is running great, no crashes. And i know the updater is disabled, because it doesnt appear in Settings when i search for it.
I just prefer to update manually via Odin, i dont want my tab updating on its' own. I've heard about Samsung forcing updates recently.
September update is available for SM-T970 (EUX). Just updated my SM-T970 (XAR) with it without any issue. Magisk and SafetyNet are fine.
https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy__Tab__S7+__-Wi-Fi-__/qt4y/EUX/T970XXU2BUI1/T970OXM2BUI1/
@xpdragon: That's nice to know, but I think I'll still wait on Samsung to release the update for XAR US region. I don't really want to flash European firmware on my tab just to get the update, because it would change the CSC code to something that isn't optimal for my location. I've been running the July update ever since the tab was delivered to me, no issues so far, therefore no pressing need to update.

I just saw that on Frija. But after a few months of running Android 12, I've discovered that a few things aren't working as expected. I plan to downgrade back to Android 11 either tonight or early tomorrow morning. Things were working perfectly on 11.

The WiFi only models don't support volte, since they have no mobile data capabilities. Do you have an SM-T970? I used to have that model until I sold it to a friend, it's perfect for him because he only needs to use it on home WiFi, and he has no need to make calls/texts on it.
I still have a Tab S7+, but it's the SM-T976N Korean variant, which supports wifi, 4g, and 5g. I currently have a T-Mobile sim card in it, all is working great. However, I'm pretty sure it doesn't support volte.
If you really don't want to keep it, I'm pretty sure you could sell it on eBay for 300-400 $, depending on its' condition. I bought my Tab S7+ 5g on eBay, new in factory sealed box, for 999$. I feel like it was a good deal, I'm very happy with it. The main thing for me is that it's mobile data capable, a big advantage over my WiFi only model.

I tried using IPVanish to pretend I'm in america but rubbish AT&T updater tells me to wait 24 hours again. (flashing through odin helps to skip that)
I don't know what your trying to do but I know you can change the date on your phone by a day forward after unchecking auto date and time in the settings. Worked for me when I heard at&t had a update out and I already had checked for a ota that day.

You can't do anything unless you have at&t sim card in your phone and you are on at&t network. Otherwise phone will not update, also do to lock bootloader and no root we can't pull update from phone to create current firmware. Your phone is on last avalable official firmware and longest you can't get phone on at&t network or someone find root for this phone you can't update. Sorry for bad news.
Edit: If you in London have Samsung store you can go there and see if they can update your phone true Smart Tool.

If this was posted elsewhere in addition to here, try reporting it and you may find it gets addressed. Thank you.
My current is default N910AUCU1ANIE too . Can't update
I was looking through Samfirmware.com and could not figure this out.
Where can I get the stock firmware file for the USA version of the T700?
Looking over the site and a few other posts for different devices, is this the right firmware for the model sold in the USA?
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T700/XAR/
The model number for my exact device is SM-T700NTSAXAR
The firmware list on samfirmware/sammobile says that it is cellular south.
None of the xar variants I have found (last three letters of the model number) seem to have cellular connection though.
Yea, never understood why they refer to it as Cellular South, but that is the correct region for us T700 users.
That is a bit confusing yeah.
Thank you for confirming that for me.
Want to make sure that I have the right stock software to flash back to if I want to unroot it.
Just got mine 3 days ago and probably going time be rooting it soon.
Don't think Knox really matters on this. Holding off for root on my s6 until can be rooted without tripping Knox so I don't lose Samsung pay.
Although on October everyone should be using chip and pin so it might be useless anyway.

+1 for me. Ive spent almost 2 years and 3 phones trying to get an answer to this. My note 8 had this problem, then my note 10+, then the replacement note 10+. At&t blames Samsung, then Samsung blames at&t, over and over and over. I even had a Samsung technician sit in on a 3 way call with an at&t technician for the better part of an hour. The last I heard was that at&t was petitioning samsung to fix something on their end because at&t shows that everything is up to date on my phone but its not. Im looking into Odin too because this is getting stupid.
At&t is horrible with OTA's. They work for some but for a lot of people it does not, and I am one of them. At&t has never been able to give me an answer as to why this happened on my Note 8..9..and 10+.
Odin is very easy. You dont have to use At&t firmware you can use any Snapdragon US firmware they are the same. Once its installed, it will provision to you sim. There are many threads that have the firmware needed or just us Frija to download the firmware. Once downloaded you need to extract the files. You will have BL..AP..CP..CSC...HOME_csc. You need to download the correct version of Odin to flash the firmware. Open Odin put device in download mode connect device. Once odin recognizes devices find where you extracted the firmware. In odin put BL in BL spot..AP in AP spot..CP in Cp spot. If you want to save data, put HOME_csc in CSC spot. If you want clean install put CSC in CSC spot as it will wipe device. Once you have everything where it should be click start and Odin will flash the firmware. Once complete Odin will say PASS at top left..boot time should take a few minutes. But remember if the firmware you flash has a higher bootloader you cant downgrade back to previous version.

So I can use a verizon csc and it will work on a att branded phone? Or is a generic one better?
Edit
Basically which one do you pick. I'm leaning towards a tmobile because it sounds like the included bloatware is smaller.
I have At&t device purchased at At&t. I have used USC..Tmobile..Verizon. The device will provision to your sim. If you dont want bloat just flash U1 firmware. But I think you will lose advanced features like wifi calling if you do. I cant remember if flashing a (U) csc with U1 firmware brings back advanced features. But prob just stick with 1 firmware until you have a understanding on how to do this...Good luck.

I actually went ahead and did this last night with the tmobile firmware and it was just as easy as you said. For whatever reason I didn't even get any bloatware. It booted up with the at&t logo and sound, and my software version says att/att/att. I put my sim card back in and there were no special notifications or anything, everything just worked. I wonder if Frija gave me the att firmware despite me putting in tmb? Either way, everything is up to day now. Thanks for the help!
Anytime my friend glad it all worked out[emoji106]

Hi I have the same problem. I flashed android 10 One UI 2.0 on my Exynos Note10+ SM-N975F last December via Odin and download the firmware from Samfrew(like Sammobile).(the firmware is the German version and I bought my phone from Egypt) Since then I didn't receive any security patch updates I only have the December 2019 one. Will it be safe if I download the latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it; the file in over 5GB , can this overwrite? I never tried to flash the same software two times. Is it safe?
As long as you are using the firmware that is for your device and your region you should be fine. Although this is Snapdragon thread I would think International flashing is same. You may want to double check in your device specific thread as I don't want to be the blame if there is something different with F version.

Greetings,
I'm super new here, also a tech noob so pls be gentle.
I purchased an unlocked At&T Note 10+, and i am living in Malaysia. Little that I know At&T would never send updates to out network, and that I require an At&t SIM in order to get the updates. Currently I am stucked with Android 9, ONE UI 1.5, with no hope of getting anything higher than that.
My question is, how can i get the updates besides flashing a new firmware? I tried connecting to Smart Switch on my laptop, and all it can says is that my software is up to date on SJ8 (ATT).
Hope there's a way other than flashing. HELP.

Hi Mohd Azrimny,
Am in the same boat as you. In Malaysia and have the note 10 plus at&t version. How did you manage? I am using Odin and getting error message connection failed. Not sure what is the problem.
Can you point me from where you downloaded the firmware? I am suspecting that is the culprit.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but I don't think there's other way around, you'll need to flash another firmware.
I have an Unlocked Verizon Note10+, the first thing I did after getting it out of the box was flash the unbranded firmware (CSC: XAA).
Ever since, I've had OTA updates as quick as they're released for N975U1.

Can i simply choose any unbranded firmware (N975U1) from any month security updates n just flash it? I just need a stock ROM, not the latest should be ok as the OTA will take care of the rest.
Right now i'm at nov 2019 security updates SJ8 (ATT).

Well, unfortunately I'm not sure about previous versions, however I'm leaving attached my SW information, my CSC is XAA.
You can download it from sammobile or frija (this is way faster).
Hope this helps,
Regards.
So, knowing you are a noob is half the solution already...
I highly recommend you look for Frija on the internet. Download the tool, search for the phone you have , it is a SM-N975U , and since you want to get rid from the AT&T version, you can install the SM-N975U1 version with XAA as CSC, that Samsung themselves push updates to. Even if they will not, you can always download the next revisions..
I assume you know how to use Odin..

No worries, as Odin and the phone check revisions and suitability. If not the right firmware, it should not write it.

and after a month or so, it cant detect my local carrier as well (maxis) and i receive a message constantly about the sim is not verizon sim
so i was hoping , flashing the firmware would eliminate this problem
what i did was :
1) download odin v3.14
2)download frija 1.4.3
3) download firmware SM-n975u1 csc XAA from frija
4)tried to flash using odin..and failed multiple time
5)tried download a patched version of odin 3.14
6)download a bunch of other firmware from USA verizon, malayisia and others
7)failed and failed and failed again
so sifu please help me?where did i go wrong? will flashing new firmware fix my carrier problem? or its a verizon issue?because it was working fine a month ago ..please help..
I'm not sure where this should be posted.
I bought an unlocked S9 (SM-G960U) last February whilst flying through the US.
I knew something was fishy because even though it worked with my sim, the AT&T splash screen appeared when booting, but I was in a different country before I realised.
It's Android 8.0
Whenever I go to Software Update it says that i'm on the latest version of Android, nothing I can do to try and force this, tried Smart Switch, same issue. So my next avenue was to use a custom ROM or something - my experience with this is limited to many years ago (the Samsung Galaxy One!), and I believe it's a little easier now.
Anyway, I cannot flash or do anything, I've followed various guides, including to try and get TWRP on there but it looks like I cannot see the OEM feature to enable/disable in the developer tools options.
I'm hoping someone with a little patience can help me out a bit, I just want to get the best out of this phone (and Android Auto).

This device has a locked bootloader. possibly sim unlocked. You cannot flash twrp. No custom roms. Root at the best. You can search on how to use odin. Use a pc program called samfirm or frija to get the latest firmware to update
thank you, this is helpful!
I downloaded Samfirm, and as typical with everything I'm trying, I've immediately hit a hurdle as ATT is not listed as a CSC code on there.

You might have better luck cross-flashing your AT&T phone to unbranded firmware. See the thread here for more information. The best firmware to download and flash might be the SM-G960U1 firmware using the XAA CSC code. I flashed it on my unlocked Sprint S9 to de-brand it.
