Hey Everyone!
I was fooled into buying a Oneplus 7T, which I was told, was SIM unlocked.
Once I got the phone and inserted my SIM, a message popped up saying it is network locked to T-Mobile.
I tried using the T-Mobile Device Unlock app but it did not work. (Some kind of error message)
Is there any way to unlock the phone since all i have the imei number of the phone only
Also sorry about this being my first post
Hopefully there is a way to unlock the carrier
Unfortunately you can't bypass this, so to unlock your device you have to request it from T-Mobile if you meet the requirements.
OR You can follow this thread and your new best friend will unlock it for you.
On a side note: Learn how to search, that way you save yours and others time.
Or convert to Global via hacked msmtool and everything unlocked
[CLOSED] T-Mobile 7T Conversion to International WITHOUT unlocked bootloader/SIM unlock!
Here is a patched MSM download tool for TMobile OP7T. It will bypass the need to sim unlock before unlocking the bootloader, and will also bypass the need of an unlock token file from OnePlus (hence skip the wait period of 1 week to get the...

In a phone that is SIM-locked, the firmware needs to find a specific pattern in a portion of the SIM card's identification number (IMSI). This portion of the IMSI identifies the country in which the SIM card was issued and the service provider which sold the sim card.
If these do not match the specific country and/or service provider to which the phone is locked, then the firmware will refuse to use the SIM card.
If the firmware includes a SIM-lock, generally the ROM is powerless to do anything about it. And to unlock it you need to follow a specific procedure that network operator or the phone manufacturer offers.
That's why the phone will remain SIM-unlocked even after you switch to a different ROM.
From the above you get that the lock exists in the firmware, not in the ROM.
Maybe my phone was not locked at TMobile central and only at rom level. I'm just happy I can use non TMobile provider for cheaper cost (Mint mobile is $20/mo for 10gb data and unlimited talk/text). I couldn't before converting as it rejected non TMobile sim, but could afterwards
Please any help on how to sim unlock my Tmobile oneplus 7t? Third party unlocks are too expensive for me. Unless anyone knows a cheaper unlock service below $30?

Mint uses T-Mobile towers. So a T-Mobile device doesn't need to be SIM unlocked, in order to use Mint.
The same goes for Metro or any other carrier that uses T-Mobile towers
Not possible unlock

Might be a silly question, but have you tried contacting T-Mobile?

If the T-Mobile site says it's blocked, then it is blacklisted. Sorry, it won't work on any network. You need to call T-Mobile and ask why it's blocked.
And the only way to network unlock the T-Mobile S8/+ is with the T-Mobile unlock app. Flashing the unlocked firmware and then entering an unlock code won't work. T-Mobile has to be the one to unlock it, and it has to be initiated through the app.

Sorry but now TMB can be unlocked through reading codes no need for unlock app, plus if the imei is blacklisted @ TMB so it is blocked for TMB only which means if he use AT&T sim after unlock it will definitely work !!!

That's absolutely false. If it's blacklisted through T-Mo, it's blacklisted for all US carriers.
And what's your source saying you can use unlock codes on T-Mo? Because no one here has been able to do that. Many people have lost money buying useless codes for T-Mobile.
Hey. Someone sold me an S9 but unfortunatly it is locked to AT&T so I am looking for a free way to get it unlocked. AT&T website for unlocking says network error. Any help for a way? Also how does websites that you need to pay for unlock phones?

did you try the unlock app? I guess there is a unlock app but I don't shure.
other way it`s buy a IMEI unlock code, I know that it works for your device, If ask for a code when you insert a non carrier SIM.
i have the same doubt, I get a galaxy s9 t- mobile. but the phone it`s unlocked, I don't know if the phone was unlocked by a unofficial way.
Go to the Samsung site and talk to the chat people. They'll give you a code. Have for me anyway.
I got a few 7Ts from T-Mobile about a month ago. I was able to get the first one unlocked from the free SIM unlock thread, but it's shut down now. Is there any way to convert a SIM-locked device? Any progress on the MSM tool? I'm willing to try third party unlock methods as well.
Hi all,
I've always had carrier locked phones on Verizon/Verizon models (S3, Note 4, Note 8 - all rooted, only Note 8 with locked bootloader) and I will be getting the 6 pro in the carrier unlocked variant from the Google store. I plan to root when available. As mentioned, I plan to use this on Verizon networks.
I've read some conflicting information regarding bootloader unlocking for carrier unlocked devices to be used on Verizon so just wanted to clarify:
If I buy a carrier unlocked 6 pro, insert my Verizon sim card and set up the phone, will I be able to unlock the bootloader at a later point? Or do I need to unlock the bootloader before inserting the Verizon sim card for the first time?
I realize obviously we don't have the phones yet, but I am presuming this is more of a general question/use case. I've read in multiple spots (here on XDA and other android forums) stating that you need to unlock bootloader before inserting the sim card, but also read that you can do it at any point since the sim card doesn't deny access to those operations. So just looking for what is actually the correct answer.

My last several devices have been carrier unlocked, and rooted, while on the Verizon network.
Unless the p6/p6 pro is different than my previous carrier unlocked Google phones, there should be no problem using a Verizon sim in a carrier unlocked device that's rooted.
The only issue I've had with Verizon with a carrier unlocked device is if it is a device they (VZW) do not offer, you cannot use VZW warranty, and you cannot get the free cloud account that comes with a Verizon device.
Of course that may have changed as well, but I've never had an issue with a carrier unlocked Google phone being rooted while using a Verizon sim card.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. So just to clarify:
Unless the 6/6 pro is different, a carrier unlocked variant can have its bootloader unlocked at any point - whether it be right away or after the sim card is initially inserted/phone gets activated?

Yes. That is my experience with all my previous carrier unlocked Google devices that were on the Verizon network.
IIRC, all were rooted AFTER activation on VZW network via sim.

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification!
Hopefully anyone who has the same question sees this thread.
To clarify, you are referring to buying the Verizon variant directly from the Google online store?
I am the owner of an LG G8 thinq G820QM5 from the Xfinity mobile company and I need help to be able to use it with sims from other operators.
I wanted to ask if maybe changing the rom for another one already unlocks the network, it should be noted that I have the bootloader unlocked

No, changing the rom won't unlock it. It's because the lock mechanism is in nvm memory. On the G8 tele group there's a remote unlock service that can do it (lgunlock). It's paid, but only way.

I have already tried 1 remote unlocking service through the server, but they charged me and I am still with network blocking.
I know that each cell phone of each manufacturer and operator is different but I thought that perhaps the mobile network could be unlocked by changing modemst1 and modemst2 files since this way in the past I managed to unlock the sim of an Essentialphone PH-1 sprint
