Hello, as of today, which is the best 3D launcher for the GNOTE PRO 12.2? I used TSF Shell and SPB Shell 3D on my Note 2. The transition effects looked very cool. However, they don't look good on my large screen Note PRO 12.2. Probably the effects were developed with small screens in mind. I tried Next Launcher 3D and EX, there seems to be a bug as my device got long pauses. On two occassions, I had to force boot my device.

I bought SPB Shell over 3 years ago and it's been abandoned for well over a year now. Can NOT recommend using it. I've also bought TSF, and the others, and Next Launcher looks the best so far if you want a 3D'ish environment.

Same here, bought SPB years ago when it was probably the only 3D Launcher on the market. I think the company that developed it was bought out by Yandex because for a while they changed the name. I haven't checked out the Yandex Launcher in a while, it was the updated version of SPB.
Been using Nova launcher on all my devices and am really happy with it. Nice smooth effects and lots of customization available. Liked it so much I paid for it. Active development on it.

I have a question about that one for I've been thinking about installing it on my own Galaxy Note Pro because it looked like one a beginner with launchers can manage and not too heavy on resources - and it supports icon packs. Sorry if this 'should' be self-explanatory. The Nova website does not offer me even a FAQ, let alone a complete tutorial for beginners. I want to use my own wallpapers, not theirs and I don't want to be stuck with just a choice of ready-made themes. I just want to customize what I want where I want. Will the Nova launcher allow me to do this? I have spent the last 2 days with my search engines trying to get the answer to this one question, so I'm afraid to install any launcher at all until I know.
Just install it and try it. You're not going to hurt anything, and if you decide you don't like it, then uninstall it and you'll be right back where you started. Using a 3rd party launcher doesn't do anything different except change the look and feel of your device. It's not going to mess anything up, if you don't like it you can uninstall it to go back exactly like it was previously, but be sure you go through all of the settings and mess around with it first. Look and see exactly what you can do differently. Don't just install a launcher like Nova, come to the first screen you see, and then decide you don't like it. It's kinda like taking a car for a test drive before buying it. There are tons of launchers available today, probably 10 times as many as 2 years ago. I've tried many of them. Some people like certain effects, some people like a minimalistic launcher, some people like tons of widgets, different icons, etc. Everyone likes their launcher for different reasons, but like I said, I've used many, I still try something new if I see it, but I've always gone back to Nova.

Thanks for such an encouraging message. (just got told I reached my limit for the thanks button today) If an experienced and knowledgeable user comes back to Nova so consistently, I feel yet more confident about trying it. I don't suppose there's any point in asking you, since you know that launcher so well, if you were able to use your own wallpapers? Because you're not going to tell me!
I really do have to get over being a chicken about this and dive in. It's too easy to get into real states of apprehension when I spend all my time by myself on this mountaintop and have such a vivid imagination for disasters and doom - well, alone except for my dogs and cats, who've been thinking me an idiot already for years and won't offer me any advice.
My internet connection in this least-populated county in the state isn't stable or fast enough to deal with widgets that need to update online. I like looking at them but I can't run them, same problem with news feeds. I have the stock weather and still end up checking it on my phone mostly since that is faster. System widgets only tell me what it would be little bother to go check on myself. I even wasted my money getting windowblinds on my PC because I never remembered to use it much. I put weird icons on document files so I can find them when my eyes blur on text titles late at night; it's never just for looks. I change colors to relieve my eyes when I'm staying up on the computer and tablet too long, like now. I do like to be able to find things easily and put them where they're handy for that's what I do in my house too, so I can reach for them in the dark and grab them without mishap. So that's what I'll shop for in a launcher: compulsively neat organization for doomer hermits who already spend too much time looking at a monitor.

Thank you, dear. I installed Nova this morning. Now, I'd like to put another launcher on my Note 4, so I can learn about that one at the same time, perhaps something a bit lighter. Slowing down the operation of my phone could be considered more directly dangerous to my security out here than hanging up my tablet so I'll go for simpler there. Have you a recommendation? That CM Launcher advertises itself as 'light and fast' but it also comes laden with 'security apps' and cleaners that I'm not so sure I want to bother with. I don't do much online browsing with the phone, at least not for long and I don't use social media on it. I also never share my devices because there's nobody around for miles anyway. I'd rather a launcher just be a launcher.
One Launcher that I like a lot, I use it on my phone but it won't work on my tablet because I use my tablet in landscape mode, is Buzz Launcher. Using this Launcher, you can go into their Buzz Launcher themes and download from about 500,000 different themes that other people have created. You can have as many as 9 different screens, all with different themes, and you can use their layout, their widgets and/or icons, and customize it to work with your apps. So, if you download a theme someone on the other side of the earth developed, you click on the icons they have, and if they used an app that you don't have, like if you use a different browser, the after you press on an icon, you can select the browser you use. This way, you can customize their entire themes to work with your specific phone and your specific apps. I change my themes fairly regularly, since it only takes a couple of minutes, and I feel like I have a different phone everyday.

I wish I had seen your post before I got misled by all the complaining in the reviews for that one! In fact, they ought to be paying you to write about their app's features for you've done a much better job than they did at the playstore. There seemed to be an issue of things 'disappearing' for no good reason, themes and icons and such and people were annoyed after having spent hours to download them. Then, 'folder contents get changed every time the phone restarts.' And then there's the 'upsidedown heart butt' icon that apparently no one can get rid of that has caused some consternation, lol. Oh, and multiple 'crashes' too. As usual, few indeed even say what kind of phone they have. I'm inclined to try it anyway now, since you like it and I rather liked their community-based approach to begin with.
So, what I downloaded to the phone yesterday, just to check it out, was one I haven't seen mentioned yet, (maybe just because I don't know where to look) Microsoft's Arrow launcher. I won't mind the howls of laughter. Just plain curiosity, for I haven't tried any of their stuff for android. This is another one that will only work on my phone, not for tablets. I know how annoying they can be on PC's, like everyone else who spends a lot of time on one. They remind me of certain supermarkets that like to constantly rearrange things so that every time I go in, I can't find anything and we all know Microsoft plays the same game with every new OS. They don't really want us getting to know the guts of their systems too well, do they? I was interested in finding the launcher to be free, since their Office apps clearly are anything but and in seeing if they can build an android app that isn't a resource-hogging monster. We'll see.
I've never used Arrow, but sometimes, it's necessary to go into a widget that has been designed and change the settings to customize it to your layout, your location, your calendars, etc, and I'm pretty sure the people who complain get frustrated because they can't figure out how to scale the widget, customize the information, change the icons, update the location, etc, and then they just give up. I usually try to save a couple of homepacks with widgets I like, and then I might try combining them into my own layout and custom icons too.
Getting recommendations isn't worth much, most of the time you have to try it out for yourself. For example, if you asked someone about a new movie that was just released because they just saw it, they might say it was horrible. You might go see it anyway, you find out it's scary, you love scary movies, the person who's advice you got hates scary movies, so it boils down to personal opinion.
Rolldog, may I hear more about 'homepacks and widgets?' If you have a few widgets that you like, do you, and can you, generally keep them with most other launchers you try out? Something you said before, I think it was you, about, if I got tired of a new launcher, I could go right back to Touchwiz and find my widgets and layout just where I left them, stuck in my mind and has me wondering about that little detail: why wouldn't the widgets still be there anyway, no matter what launcher I used? I ought to know all that already but I've had some 'rural life' issues keeping me too busy to spend much time with my devices or even read about them online. But I sure did a lot of shopping on the playstore, paid apps too and pretties for Nova! I'll have to watch that; it's too easy to do when I have a card on file and my budget will suffer. I have managed to discover that the ads in 'free' apps were draining my resources much more than getting the widgets I would like so if I really want something, I support the developer and ditch the ads with the constant 'phoning home' they have to do.
That 'Next' launcher has some nice 3-D effects doesn't it? But it isn't cheap, I notice.
I'm going to be honest here. I like my pixel 3xl and it's stock Android but it's not perfect. I don't like the two swipe gesture navigation to open up the app drawer and it's getting a bit laggy. I downloaded the March security patch today and I haven't seen any crazy improvements (I may be wrong). Anyway, the point is I'm not satisfied with my setup. Meaning, I switch between launchers (Nova, smartlauncher, Hyperion) and such. However, the launchers are not perfect (they are hella laggy) so I end up coming back to pixel launcher. I want to customize my phone. I have something in mind as to how my phone should look to me. Full dark mode with green theme and no navigation gesture. I don't particularly like the notch but it'd be great if I can hide it with the icons in the notch area like nacho notch (it's not perfect. It goes away when playing videos).
So I've been thinking about rooting my phone but I'm afraid for couple reasons:
1. I can't use certain apps (Google pay and snapchat) I don't care about other apps but I'd love to continue using them.
2. I'm scared of bricking my phone.
3. There is a lot to learn and follow if you want to root your phone.
4. I don't know which guide to follow (there are lot here)
5. I feel like I might miss out Android Q when it comes out ( I don't know why I think that haha).
6. Security issues. I feel like my phone might not be safe from rooting.
I know there are lot of pros in rooting your phone but I want some of your honest opinions so I can break free of the 6 reasons I mentioned above and root my phone.
I would also really appreciate it if you could post some links here so I can reference them.
Thanks!

[Guide] Pixel 3 XL Android 9.0 (Pie) Unlock/Root/Install Images/Kernels/Recovery + by homeboy76
I just rooted my pixel 3xl today actually. I was very apprehensive about modding it because when I was using an OG Pixel XL I got myself into a boot loop situation. But I'm not going to do anything too crazy this time around. I found this guy called meowdroid or something on youtube to be very helpful. I followed his tutorial without any issues. Just do your research you should be fine. It's great to have a community where you can go when you need help, and the pixel generally has a good following behind it.

I thought it might be useful to have one thread for bugs and issues in the bets itself, that Samsung can read and hopefully fix. This is not for issues installing the bets, but for issues in the bets itself. Suggest people try to keep it short and not repeat what others write.
Some things I have found so far:
Can't change the location shown on clock widget location by swiping up/down on it when on home screen
BOSE 700 Bluetooth headphones lose connectivity with sound after 10-25 seconds (on Netflix and Spotify, even native video app). Doesn't happen on Samsung buds
Goodlock doesn't work
Both Netflix and Amazon Prime would not access previously saved (prior to beta update movies) and had to have clear data and cache
Sometimes gets stuck on lockscreen, the one that just shows the clock with seconds too, that I never understood where it came from. Need to touch power off and on to get to regular lock screen
Active2 watch won't unlock after encrypted mail is activated. Pin won't work [OK that's a gripe with the Active2 bit I figured if Samsung is reading this... Please fix this l!!!]
The new gestures, while much better than before, are closer to the iPhone, but they are...well... Heavy to use. It's just more laborious and less instant than the buttons are. This isn't an iPhone. I really want to like it but it's just heavy. Still not as natural as on the iPhone.
For reasons I cannot pinpoint, I find Google keyboard less accurate at fixing my mistakes, when touch typing. Swiping if the same.
I know it's a beta, but battery life feels worse. 25% in a little.over an hour. I find the new battery stats much less useful than before. Just not as clear, as if changed for the sake of change.

While sharing here is fine. Samsung is using the members app to gather feedback.
So yeah an issue may be found to be repairable via community interaction. But don't expect samsung to formally address any issue you don't send bug reports in on or post about in the members app...
I doubt samsung is looking for forums to weed through to gather information on how their beta is performing.
Probably you are right. But hopefully they do look at xda!
One thing that I find very annoying is the Battery usage statistics. They're gone.
I can't find proper statistics showing my battery usage since last full charge. I also can't find proper statistics containing power draw for things like the OS itself, the screen, modem standby and all the otehr things that deal with OS or hardware draw.
Would be great if they would add proper statistics again.
You can use galaxy labs, although I think that there is some redundancy, if ui 2.0 lost the batt usage, galaxy labs has it, is is "battery tracker"

Seems kinda pointless to upgrade your UI, remove a key feature that a lot of people use then put out a 3rd party app, that doesn't come stock, to fix it....
Just saying...
I agree. The d battery stats were clearer. Can't see clearly how many hours since last charge
I can't install any apk from any explorer of the phone. That's wierd.
Concur app doesn't work
Google Pay doesn't work. Says it's not authorized when I tried to use it.

You can copy and pasted in Samsung members and that way is sure they'll see.
BTW thanks for your post...
I'm not a beta fan so I'll just wait and also I won't even upgrade until Goodluck is available. Also feel like android 10 takes more then is gives
ATT Visual.voicemail.app doesn't work properly. Doesn't see the Sim on 975f/DS for me
Seen some screenshots of people's home screen and the weather/temperature were also displayed together with the current date.
Mine only displays the date. even though the weather is enabled in the settings.
I thought maybe it was because my Location History was disabled in my Google account and I enabled it, open my Location and restarted my phone. However, the weather is still not yet displayed.
Anyone also experiencing/experienced this?
Were you able to solve it?
Man, Android 12 is just busted, I had it the other day when I wasn't rooted and I think a bit yesterday after resetting and rooting but now it's gone, and all of the options in at a glance are missing. It's a commonly known bug since the beta, and there are some fixes that work for some people but none of them work for me, only other option is a factory reset and man I just got all my stuff set up finally just to have to go through it again tomorrow probably

It seems to also mess a bit with other at a glance info which also shows up in the Google panel to the left in the home screen. My weather app also seems to be missing so I'll probably reset tomorrow much to my dismay.
Hi everybody !
Same problem here. At first, when I received my phone the At a glance widget doesn't show weather on main screen and lock screen. I finally make a factory reset and weather works like a charm for two days until this morning... and then, it's missing again !
I already tried to reboot my phone, open weather app separately and refresh it many times, nothing works.
You may notice that with the old widget (which you can add manually on your homescreen), the weather icon is working .
Can someone please help me ?
Thanks in advance.

Read a little bit in the internet and it seemed that the bug was with Android 12, not on the Pixel 6 itself.

Yes I noticed that too.
But I see lot of people with their widget working fine in this Pixel 6 forums (when they share their homescreen for example) so I thought this is more rare with Pixel 6.

Android 12 has been a buggy mess from the beginning. Google ironed out about 25 of the 100 known bugs, and when they released the phone, another 30 bugs came added on top.
Welcome to the 21st century beta-tester realm, where people cash out a grand and still have to play betatester free of charge, after buying an expensive tech product.
There are so many services and apps broken... my outlook still doesn't even want to show one singular E-Mail.. I have to revert to GMail to get anything moving...
Not to mention that the new UI is a joke and the notification panel is a joke and the settings menu now looks like something made by a color blind; on top of that? Now, even the old functions (the ones we already had!) are often or not broken. Google managed to botch this release of Android harder than even Microsoft botched W11, and that one is still a terribly buggy mess.
I already talked to Google about this and the only thing they stated about the third-party problems is "blabla, apps might need to be manually updated by the blablabla" - aha, and you mind telling me, why we had months and months of firmware testing and still even the big players like Microsoft won't even give a singular flying f*** to at least make their most basic apps function on a - well - most basic level? That's as much Googles fault as anyone else's. If your customers have a broken product because your marketplace players don't give a **** about your rules, you enforce those.
Just remember the Pixel 4 faceunlock API disaster... UP TO THIS POINT ABOUT 95% OF ALL APPS THAT OFFER FINGERPRINT UNLOCKING, DO NOT SUPPORT FACEUNLOCK!
I mean everybody here with a functioning brain knows why Google delayed Android 12 over and over again, and still all we got is a buggy mess.
Back to the drawing board, Google.
And stay there, until you come up with something good.
And by the way, give us back our beautiful Android 11 interface.
My eyes are functioning well, thank you. No need to have icons the size of the moon. And even if my eyes won't function well any more at some point, I'd rather get glasses, instead of making my phone's UI ugly and terribly looking.
I had noticed the other day my weather wasn't showing up in at-a-glance but it is right now, and I haven't rooted or done anything except possibly reboot at some point.
Hey guys, try the solutions in this thread. I've done this on my 4a5g and it works, so far going on 3 days straight. Only thing is that the temperature doesn't update as often but if you click on the widget it does. Hopefully we will see this fixed in the next update.
AT A GLANCE NOT SHOWING WEATHER ISSUE
My OnePlus 7T Global HD1903 was on stock OOS Stable for almost 3 years now.
I just decided to update to OOS12 Beta 2 (Indian) yesterday and overall, I like it!
Official update guide here: OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 2 for the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro
Improvements:
1. Stock launcher: now has Google Feeds built-in.
2. Stock launcher: can now lock home screen icon arrangements. This is especially a big deal for me because I always mis-swipe icons and accidentally rearrange them.
3. Game mode: swipe notification banner is now easier to use. You can easily adjust brightness now, which is what I always use when gaming.
4. WiFi and Bluetooth connects faster.
5. Mobile data: signal is more stable. This surprised me a lot because this is an Indian ROM flashed on a Global device. I live in the Philippines, so it may vary from country to country.
6. Fast switching between mobile data and wifi, unlike on OOS11 where there's around 3 seconds of delay.
7. More stable fingerprint scanning (FOD) so it feels faster too, unlike on OOS11 when there are instances that I have to try 3x before my fingerprint gets recognized.
8. Larger PIN input when restarting device and FOD is disabled.
9. Lowest brightness is now even lower. Very good when you use your phone in pitch black environments.
What's missing, and what can be improved:
1. AOD: still the same old crappy Sometimes On Display. My Oppo Reno has a proper AOD, which I thought would be implemented in this update.
2. Recents: app settings cannot be launched directly anymore.
3. Notification banners: button texts are buggy/cut (like Reply or Like). Although this is an Android 12 issue, OnePlus could have fixed it.
4. Stock launcher: home screen icons cannot be set individually. (I bought icon packs for this feature)
5. Stock launcher: home screen icons cannot be renamed anymore. (You can remove app names completely)
6. Dolby Atmos is now disabled when using built-in speakers. Ironically, I only enable them when using the built-in speakers to make sound louder.
7. VoLTE and VoWiFI
Bugs and Nitpicks (but not dealbreakers):
1. Very long boot time. Logo always stuck for 40 seconds before boot animation shows up.
2. Boot animation stutters (low FPS).
3. On standard home screen mode (drawer disabled), SIM Toolkit apps always show up on the home screen after every reboot, even if you put them in a folder.
4. Some apps think that the device/sim is Indian, so there are notifications telling you to enable Roaming. Just disable these notifications once, then they'll stop showing up.
5. Lock screen colors are still oversaturated when FOD is enabled (same with OOS10 and OOS11). This is why I just use a black wallpaper for lockscreen.
6. Stock launcher icon names can now only be removed completely (no app names on drawer too), unlike before where it only doesn't show on the home screen.
I finaly update myself... But I am little disappinted.
first of all, AOD on OOS 11 (oob5) worked perfectly... it doesn't work here... it just is.
I have a big lag when I want to use gestures, especially when I want to leave the gallery in the home screen... everything seems to be slower.
Third, the phone and phonebook app is now much worse... it's much slower to find a name in the phone book.
Fourth, the theme substratum does not work, pureblack for example, so the notification shade is not black as I would like it to be... and all the colors seem washed out to me.
Five, no advinced power menu any more... And no optio for clear cache in recovery
I use Nova and I like it....
High performance mod... is for me must be on

Thanks for sharing your experience!
Although mine is quite the opposite (everything is more responsive / no lag).
My device isn't rooted though, and I upgraded from stable rom. So ymmv.

When I turn off substratum... its now faster and feel like before... But I prefere black in dark mode and not gray...
Also I will disable... Theme Store and Work Life Balance (I realy do not need) and Scout... What is that? Do you use it? Sports (how to acces that app) ?
And I am realy frustrated with new phonebook/call app
EDIT: I still have this bug... with gallery app and only Gallery app for now...
When I swap from botom to top... to go to home screen... bacj is just fine... but going straith to home not working in gallery app
Do you know what is Onet app?
Is it India specific? Like Idwntificarion of Unknow Number (doea it work in eu) ?
Also is there any easy way like iit was on 11 to check/change battery optimisation for specific app... or I need to go from settings and to look for app in the hole list?

I also use swipe navigation but don't have that issue on the Gallery app. I can smoothly transition from Gallery to Home Screen. I uploaded a video: CLICK HERE
Regarding apps you don't need, there is an option to disable them in the app settings.
On the end... I find that my bigrst problem is notificstion lock screen. When I get notificstion I have it for first time, but if I unlock and relock without open notificstin at all... it disappears from lock screen.
Does anyone know how to fix that behavior... Notification not show on LockScreen?
And AOD, not working... All time.... on OB5 ti was working all time if you whant that. Here it just disappear if you do not touch or move phone. I disklike that behavior.
Also I find out that Tasker, or any other app on 12 can not disable network status (2G/3G/4G) even with root.

In the end, this is a HUGE step backwards for me... and many OnePlus fans who wanted something more and stuck to the Never Settle slogan.
Oppo Coloros is not usable with many applications and causes problems with an even larger number. Maybe at first glance it looks like it's moving smoothly and quickly, but it's just an illusion.
Tasker is just one of those applications and is considered one of the most powerful Android tools, but it is completely unusable even with Root on this system. Even the most ordinary things, which are useful to me, as it is. turning on screen rotation and screen time out for certen apps do not work. Let's not talk about some more complex actions such as norification and starting AOD when there is an unread notification.
AOD itself is very unreliable, I installed 3 different "updates" of the AOD application itself to get it to work at all.
The notification on the lockscreen is just a "masterpiece" it only works once when you receive the notification, and whether you read it or not, it will never appear on the lockscreen again, no matter how many times you unlock or lock your screen.
As a root user of a phone that supports 90Hz, I used to be able to always and in all circumstances use that option, now the screen is almost always at 60Hz no matter what you set and there is no longer a possibility to "force" the phone to always use 90Hz even with an ADB command... All this did not increase the battery life in the least... it even decreased it because the screen is no longer black (which I could achieve on OOS 11 using Subststratum pure black tmeme) but mostly gray.
I still don't have time to dedicate a whole day to wiping the data and going back to the good old OOS... but if you don't want to just have the number 12 in the phone info... and if you use the phone for anything more than texting and answering on calls, it's better to redistribute with old security patches than to get frustrated with Color OS.
Even the most common application, phone book and phone dealer, is a step backwards for me, although I could get used to it if at least some of the basic things that I am used to as a user would work.
Bluetooth, WiFi... Mobile Data... Signal strength, I really have no complaints, it all works great. Preinstalled applications work well and it's a matter of habit and personal taste whether you like the design or not.
But if you use Tasker, Huawei watch, or are a root user who is a bit more demanding... know that I Color OS is very restrictive and that 99% of things will not work as they did on OOS... Especially if you come with OOS Beta 4 or 5 which had AOD working and if you are used to it, I would not recommend you to waste your time and switch to Color OS.
The number 12 is not worth your time, annoyance and searching for a solution for what was working beautifully and smoothly, just because it is a number higher than 11.
On the end choices is yours... Just like it was mine when I done misktake and update.

Have you tried any custom ROMs such as Pixel Experience? What are your thoughts on them if you have. I grew tired of waiting for OnePlus to release a stable 12 and installed Pixel Experience. I am mostly satisfied with it, although battery drain is more pronounced.

Your #1 mistake was to dirty flash a beta software into an older android version.
Even on custom roms, that's a very bad idea.

Actualy, that doesn't change anything... It's Color OS... and all working just it work on cleen install. So I didn't make any mistake there, except the fact that Color OS is not for me or anyone who like freedom of OOS... When I decide to be restricted like I am on ColotOS, I will buy iphone.
So, does your clean installation act differently... lock screen notificstion, AOD, can Tasker change you system settings (turn on and off AOD if you have any new notification, for example), can you force 90Hz in all apps?
Because thats are problems... I don't have any fingerprint or any other system lroblem except it's inconsistent and undefined... it's doesn't have all android 12 theming and look but it's not OOS costumization.
Anyone know of a fix for no signal? It asks for Oroaming funds, but I have an unlocked One Plus 7 Pro converted to the Global Beta 2.
My sim card is Tmobile.
