Probably 5-10 times a day when wearing my bluetooth headset I get the notification sound that goes off.
I've gone through about every setting that I can.
The sound is the notification I have chosen in settings. I changed it and when I did the sound changed to the new one. I can't figure out any way to tell what this is or turn it off.
I've had similar issues in the past, I used this app to find the culprit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ikvaesolutions.notificationhistorylog

So do you wait to hear the noise and check what the latest app was? And then what do you do? Thanks.

Pretty much it, then you can identify the culprit app and deal with it accordingly. Whether that's uninstall or turn off the notifications of that app.
Its a strange deal never seen this before. I got two recent notification sounds a little bit ago through the bluetooth and went to look at the logs on the app and nothing was active in the last 10 minutes. So, I really don't know how to identify the app or what the constant notification is from.
I show no notifications in the top area of the phone and the app says nothing was happening right when the sounds happened.
Nothing has stopped this. About once an hour I get my chosen notification sound that goes off in my bluetooth headset and as far as I can tell there is no notification associated with it. Just a random sound.
I have searched around and stumbled on a page where they were talking about com.qualcomm.qtil.aptxui
Is that something that can give me random notifications?

I've been using Light Flow for the last couple of days, but as of today my phone will no longer vibrate for notifications. The vibrator itself is perfectly fine - haptic feedback will still work and such and it vibrates on boot.
So, I figured the last Light Flow update that pushed out broke something. I backed up my settings, uninstalled it, rebooted, and expected my notification vibrations to continue working...
They didn't. I have it set to always vibrate both in sound settings and in all of my apps, but nothing seems to be working. I'm at a loss for ideas right now other then a factory reset. I am not rooted or unlocked yet, so I suppose it'd be a good chance to do it, but...
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Aha! I found the fix - for some reason, notification vibrations were disabled SEPARATELY from every other vibration. Like, not even in the apps. The application "Sound Manager" in the market was able to fix this.

Looks like you just beat me to suggesting using the app "sound manager". I refer people to this app after somebody managed to figure that out in the past.
Note lightflow itself only sends notifications to android to vibrate, there's nothing fancy going on regarding switching off vibrations in the app.
Yeah, I figured lightflow probably wasn't directly to blame since uninstalling it didn't fix the problem. I was just really worried about having to deal with a factory reset tonight, but I'm happy now!
Thank You

Thank you for posting this issue and your fix! I was having the exact same issue as you and could not figure out what the culprit was. Downloaded Sound Manager and found out vibration were set to off
Have any of you had problems waking your GN after installing LightFlow? I installed it after seeing this thread, and I can't wake my phone and have to pull the battery.

I just had this problem for the first time... I have lightflow installed.
Just tried Sound Manager V2, and set vibration to "vibrate whenever possible". Now all is well! Disappointing that this setting does not work in Android settings though.
Is this happening to anybody else? Every time it happens I expect a text message or email to pop up but nothing.
Im on stock 4.0.2 btw.

Only one app does that on my phone (Ultrachron) and it's a feature to let you know a timer is about to run out.
I would guess it's a (misbehaving?) app in your case, too.

I was thinking the same thing as well. The only app off the top of my head that could cause this sort of thing would be MyBackup Pro since it has a scheduling feature for backups but I never set it up for backups.
I guess a program like BetterBatteryStats can tell you which app switched on the screen.
This used to happen to me when I had my nexus one. Usually it happened when i got a call from a blacklisted number. The call blocker would sometimes be a bit slow on the uptake and the screen would switch on without any noise or call notification. I just happened to check the blocked call log and found that the instances matched.
Maybe something similar is going on with your set up.
At first I thought I was the only one suffering from this annoyance, but then I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgvTFu6UKJI
See, the problem is that whenever I send or receive a message, this icon pops up. At first I thought I was delusional, but then it repeatedly became clear that this was truly a bug. I managed to get a screenshot of it (which was really difficult considering that it only pops up for about half a second). I want to know if I anyone else has had this issue, and whether or not someone found a workaround from it popping up. Anyone at all?
Are you using Hangouts?
Nope! Stock everything, and unrooted. Using the HTC messaging app

Probably Carrier IQ for some reason tracking your location. My LG G2 does the same thing.

This bothered me as well, but I have since gotten rid of it. Granted that you're rooted, you can download an Xposed module called NotifyClean. It listens for "notifications" in the status bar, and you have the option to disable them. Download/install/activate the module, turn on the listening feature, and send a message. When you go back into NotifyClean, you'll see "Data Usage". Select that, then select "Data usage is running". It should highlight the selection in red, and ultimately get rid of the little annoying icon that shows up for a split second.
It seems that I'm not the only one having an issue. Well hopefully there's a better work around for this because I don't plan rooting my phone for a long time! Flashing roms and tweaks could be addicting haha! Hopefully someone finds a better fix to hide this annoying notification!

Yeah, take it from someone that flashed a ROM today and every mod/tweak I could find... it gets addicting. I spent 8 hours at my computer today going over various mods and personalizing my phone. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything to help with your issue that doesn't involve root. If you know what is causing the notification then you may be able to go into settings>apps>all and disable the offender?

I managed to get a screenshot, and I checked what app was causing it but it was a system app called "Data Usage". Anyone know how to turn off data usage notifications? Turning off data usage alert doesn't help
This is normal behavior. While it shouldn't be popping up, its normal as in that it is what is done when a SMS/MMS is sent while on WiFi.
You can locate the app through Application Manager and tap it to Disable Notifications. This doesnt require root or anything.
Taking shots in the dark here, but there is a data usage section under wireless & networks in settings. In that menu there is a toggle for 'alert me about data usage'. You can then drag a slider up and down to set the cap for when your phone warns you about data usage. Maybe yours is dragged to the very bottom so it alerts you about any data usage?
Unlikely because it would show up during everything, but worth asking. Maybe just disabling the notification toggle would work. Also, does your carrier ship with specific software to monitor data usage? If so then check all of those apps settings to see if anything has any effect.
It doesn't matter whether or not the wifi is on, it still annoyingly pops up. I meant that you really can't disable notifications as it is a system app

No, I don't think so. My S3 never did this. My phone is unlocked from HK

I read its some type of traffic usage. Someone here posted a picture of it here. Also I have an option on the ROM I'm running to hide that notification. O don't think its carrier IQ but then again.
Randomly my notification sound disappear.
No problem with the rest of the phone, if I reboot there's no problems.
I've not found a way to restore sounds except a reboot that is trivial and unacceptable twice a day.
Someone has this problems?
Any idea?
My wife's phone won't ring sometimes. She has to reboot as well.

It's probably a software related problem.
She was using something connected with bluetooth or using spotify?
No Spotify. The last time something was connected via Bluetooth would have been 8 hours prior on her way home from work.
did you guys find out the cause? it happens to my mom as well. seems like an app might be the problem. but I don't know which one.
thanks
No, I can't figure out why. I've tried with n7player and, same problem.
Could be headphones ? I really don't know but, this phone is really disappointing.
Happened again yesterday, using n7 and headphone but, I've done a call using earphones so, could be a earphone issues that not restore correct audio channel after headphone are unplugged?
In this case, is there a way to reset only audio avoiding a full reboot?
anybody figure this out? super annoying lol..
In my case it happens after I disconnect from Bluetooth hands free
Happens to me every day. I thought it was an app but I doubt it now. I have a n5 and n5x set up identical, non rooted, all stock, same apps.
5X looses audio all the time. Twice a day maybe. Annoying is an understatement.
I've got the same issue. Anyone come across a solution yet?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'll keep you guys posted but for some odd reason, I feel it's candy crush that causes the problem. My mom plays it alot and she told me it wasn't working. I did everything (but reboot of course). Then i noticed the only app open was candy crush so I swiped it to close it. and boom.. it started ringing again. idk if it's coincidence but I'll check again if she tells me its not ringing.

I don't play games. It happens every time I start a call from my wearable. No other problems but, I can't solve avoiding a reboot.
Someone can tell me please a way to report a bugreport to google? Becouse I can reproduce the bug so, probably I could be useful. But I don't know how to sumbit a complete bug report, with all necessary info.
Hey,
My phone has been randomly vibrating as if I get a notification, which I don't. It will give 2 short vibrations. Last week it's been happening more often. Does anyone know how I could fix the problem?
Thanks!

Now that you mention it, I've had a couple of Phantom Notifications too. Once my phone vibrated while it was even in my hand but when I unlocked it there were no notifications. I went into settings and disabled vibration for a number of system apps and so far I haven't experienced the vibrations yet. It's hard to tell if I've actually fixed it, or if the timing's just random though.

I had done that previously with some system apps, for a while it had gotten down. However, like I mentioned before, it had gotten a lot worse this week. I now turned off the sound and vibration for all (system) apps that I don't notifications from.
I'll let you know whether that fixes it or not.
Unfortunately, it didn't help
