According to an article from Sony, Dualshock 4 controllers are no longer supported by Android TV...
Has someone on here figured out a way to get them to work?
FYI - I can still pair the controller to my TV and it shows as a connected wireless controller but it doesn't respond to anything...

Hey guys wanted to share this here. I have created a client/server app for android + pc. I designed it specifically for Nvidia Shield Portable, but it should work with any android device (OS4.4 KitKat) that has a true android gamepad attached.
A-PC GamePad <- check out my website for more details.
So what is it?
This is a solution to use your Nvidia Shield as a PC GamePad. There is an android app (client) that takes over the gamepad input and sends it over wifi to a PC app (server). The server app feeds a vJoy gamepad with the input from the Shield gamepad.
The android app runs in the background, so you can have any app run in the foreground. You can run Nvidia's GameStream or Splashtop Streamer and still control your PC. This app overrides the controls from the gamepad. This means you can stream your games even if your PC is not gamestream ready! You can still navigate the Shield with the touchscreen, back and home buttons.
Supports multiple controllers! I have only tested with two gamepads (Shield Portable, and Shield Controller), but it should work with up to 16 gamepads. If anyone has success with more controllers, please let me know.
Note that the vJoy app emulates a DirectInput controller, not an Xinput controller. However, you can run x360ce for Xinput games. I have found that this interferes with Xinput controllers attached to the PC at the same time. For now, this is going to be how it works.
I really want to hear some feedback so please let me know what you think.
This is what I've been looking for, thanks!
I'll check it out next week and give you feedback.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing your app with us, i have a question, have you tried using steam with you app like 360 controller ? i will try to do that one i get home
Thanks again
So im sure this has been asked before but I couldnt find the specific answer I was looking for. Basically I have a bunch of emulators on my tablet. I have the latest gen Kindle HDX 7inch and was wondering, if I got the fire tv stick + the fire controller, could use the fire TV to stream my emulator to my TV while using the controller? If I cant do it with those exact products are there any others that may work instead? Thanks a bunch.
Most, if not all, devices that are running a recent version of Android support screen casting.

Screen casting works fine. Though PS4 Bluetooth controllers have a slight bit of lag. But very usable once its not a fast paced game.
will the remote work with other devices?
or only the atv range...
thanks

My Shield ATV is not rooted yet. So, I just use my Ouya controller as a wireless mouse since it has a touchpad.

Hi all
I have the stick & the pro and have been using for IPTV, Netflix, YouTube etc mainly but I have moved house and have a lack of aerial so my old BT box that I used for freeview and recording is of no use. There is a satellite dish and LNB.
So I was wondering if I can use the shield for this either by connecting the LNB somehow or via an IPTV player that records. So a couple of questions...
As I understand it there is no way to connect the shield to the LNB and use it like that, is that correct? If I am wrong how do I do that please?
Secondly if I cannot do the above, or even if I can, would an IPTV player app or similar with the facility to record be a better option. If so does anyone have any recommendations please? I do not mind paying for the app as long as it works, I have read good things about the 'IPTV Tuner' app but cannot find anywhere if it records or just for viewing!
I've seen this but it has not been commented on for some time:
nVidia Shield Android TV
nVidia's Shield Android TV is an Android TV based set-top box, targeted at both home entertainment and gaming. The nVidia Shield Android TV was released in May 2015, and is the third-generation Shield hardware device. It can output 4K resolution to TV over HDMI and supports high definition...
