Question Camera performance on custom ROM with GCam - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Anyone using GCam in any of the custom ROMs currently available? How good are the results? Are they providing better outputs than in the MIUI?? If so, please mention the ROM & GCam version.

Much better than the original, I used it global and xiaomi.eu.

That's so strange asking for this, because it is so simple to test it at your ease.
This is a simple APk to be installed and removed simply if you don't like. it is NOT any deep system modification that can raise questions...
Gcam is a must on my phone.Installed the first day for testing.

That's not the case! I don’t own the device yet. But if I get positive feedback about this aspect that might change pretty soon. Normally you get better result with GCam on top of custom ROMs. But that may vary. That's why I wanted to be sure before buying & not regret afterwards.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback.

Two issues I found were:
1. The slow motion isnt working with the latest MGC GCam
2. Images on the front cam are only 4-5 megapixels (20mp on stock)
Everything else is great though. The main cam has more detail in GCam than stock

The stock cam has a tendency to darken the shadows & to some extent leaves too. Does it happen on GCam too??

Really much better ? Because I gotta say stock cam on MIUI (xiaomi.eu) has many differents options that seems interesting and quite nicely done! (short movies, vlog, etc).

The image quality is better. But I agree with you on the options part. Lot of customization in stock cam.

The LOS camera, i.e. Snapdragon camera, is great, probably better than Sony stock camera.
Alternately, you can try OpenCamera, very good too.

I've no such problems with LOS camera on my Z5.
To force external-sd saving, you can use the magisk module Magic Folder Binder

There are several HTC camera ports available on XDA, you can try them (anyway always backup first...)
Do note I have an Xperia Z5 so results may vary for you, but I've found best results using the ProShot app, it's worked amazingly on several different phones I've tested so I'd imagine it would work well on a Z1 as well. Definitely worth looking into.

[MAGISK] Working telephoto lens for Pie custom ROMs

After multiple gcam apks, and modules. I finally found a working APK for telephoto lens. I am on AEX btw.
So, first you need this magisk module by @fu24 :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...od-switchable-telephoto-t3859831/post78396818
*Note The newer module by @fu24 breaks night sight, so this version recommended
Then install one of these APKs by
@fu24 Pixel 3 Mod : https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e-fu24_Aux2way_4Lens-03g-dual.apk (working Night Sight) (front cam still has green tint)
Thanks to
@fu24 for the magisk module and APK
@adnbwta for mentioning a Pixel 3 Mod

Huh, I never knew that you switch it like that. Yes, it works, but I notice that the pictures are a bit darker and grainier than pixel 2 mods. So I would stick with the pixel 2 mod.

World's perfectly here. Los 16
Do I have to set back camera to 9MPX in order to get Autofocus to work on Pie Havoc 2.2 latest version with Moun Kernel on latest firmware ?
Preinstalled camera version is: Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2
Thank you.

Picture Quality / Help in choosing a ROM

Hi, I was on the official build (MIUI) of Note 5 pro, however the pictures seemed like they were oil paintings, and did not look good at all, so I decided to install a custom ROM, hoping it'd help solve this issue, since the picture seemed to be using the beauty mode, even though I turned it off. I installed the pixel experience ROM, however the picture quality still is pretty bad, I was wondering if there is any custom ROM which would help solve this problem and give a good picture which doesn't look like an oil painting, lol.
Thanks in advance.

reboot, and install Gcam by arnova from this site:

General default camera so much better then Gcam my review

ok let me start custom roms blow stock out of the water but the only thing that made me go back to stock was the camera app , in my opinion gcam struggles to focus I do consider myself a a photography pro , that being said , i love the performance of the customs roms overstock , hands down, but the default camera is the deal breaker in my opinion, g-cam struggles to focus , especially in macro mode , I do hope some one port the ANX camera to a custom rom ... just my 2 cents and I tried them all Gcam / configs so save your breath...
I agree, the stock cam is just better, more convenient and faster imo. Luckily for me I dont care much about photos.
Sorry I got that wrong.

It's true, thanks to a user of this forum that I don't remember the name I was able to use the Gcam for normal and night photos but the macros are still a problem.
Another thing that is making me think about going back to Stock ROM is that there is no support and continuity of updates.
I really love the stock camera too. But for Macros or really close photos it can't focus could you give me a tip, to improve it.
Does any custom rom support the stock camera app?

Hi,
right after taking the picture the app closes, the picture is saved but every time I have to reopen the app. If I take a photo in night mode the app closes and the photo is not saved.

Themes / Apps / Mods GCam 8.2 for Aquos R6

This phone sensor has huge potential, but it's software let it down. Quickest fix until Sharp improve their camera software is by installing Gcam,

It's fine, take your time
Seems like we are facing same challenge, mine is good in detail, but have trouble in noise as well. So most of the time i revert back to stock.
Lately i only use Gcam for quick snap. For more challenging but no rushing shot, using original cam in pro mode still yielding much better result.

HDR in gcam cannot be replaced. The hardware is capable we just need to find the best settings
Why don't we work together on it and find a better solution? Do you have telegram? So that we could share and fine tune.
