Phone overheating - Nubia Red Magic 5G / 5S Questions & Answers

Anyone else's 5S overheating while scrolling through Facebook or just browsing the web? Any fix?

I had a similar issue after visiting some torrent sites
google "torrent Monero Mining Software"
so if you have been browsing those sites take care

ALL Uploads drop off / fail while tethered!! >:(

GRRR!! This is really starting to bug me!! The problem began about 6 months ago when I still had the good ol' original Tilt. I'll begin uploading, let's say, a photo. A single photo. Any size, doesn't matter. It begins uploading fine but will ALWAYS, suddenly and for no apparent reason, stop uploading. I have no idea why!
Obviously it's not a rom issue since this problem has followed me from phone to phone. I've flashed 3 or 4 separate roms on the Tilt 2 and experienced the problem with every one of them. Even the stock rom!!!
I've tried installing the cabs for removing the hidden AT&t proxies and whatnot, but it's no help.
I can't even run a speed test!! On speedtest.net it flys through the download portion at about 1.9 Mbps, the upload hits 0.81 consistently, but once the progress gets to 99% it of course stops uploading. And the speed begins to fall as the test continues running without any upload traffic.
I've tried letting it sit overnight while I slept, hoping maybe it was just hiccups in the connection or some other kind of illogical nonsense. But sure enough, I wake up and it's at the same spot it was when I left it.
I also thought it may have been that my account was somehow flagged by AT&T for too much data use, since I don't actually pay for the tethering. But I've been told MOST WinMo users don't pay for their tethering and none have had this problem? Nonetheless, I even went so far as to CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND OPEN A NEW ONE!! Still no luck.
Uploads work great phoneside... quick, reliable... but as soon as it's connected to the computer I can't do SH8T!!!
Not through Bluetooth
Not through WiFi sharing
Not through USB
So I pray to you, the infinitely wise Gods of XDA. Please! Hear my prayers and guide me to the answer I seek!
no one knows what might cause this problem?
I don't really know why it is causing that problem. I did a quick search and many people complain about the same thing. But also I read a lot of positive responses about a few programs that help you tether. You could always try it and see if it helps.

Streaming issues troubleshooting

Hi guys
Need some help troubleshooting an issue.
LG G3 running Android 4.4.2 stock from LG/provider.
Since I got the phone 2 months ago I have been unable to stream media from my home media servers (PS3 media server/Plex). (yes other devices can stream from them)
Using the Android gallery they just show as empty. Using media house I can see everything but when I want to play something it just stays at the connecting screen.
Even if I kill the app my phone gets extremely hot and I experience extreme battery drain until I restart the phone.
Using my phones media server I am able to stream to other apps.
Questions:
1. I have done a lot of googling and only found one other person with this problem with no replies, has anyone experienced this before?
2. What sort of troubleshooting/logging can I enable/view on my device, or how can I diagnose this problem.
Thanks in advance and sorry if I left out any necessary info.
Regards,
I think this question suits better for the developer of said app. You can email the developer, email information is on the Gplay page.
I will try the app developer but I don't know how much they will need able to help as the problem is not limited to their app

Mdnsd battery use?

Recently mdnsd has started appearing in my batter usage as one of the top battery offenders. I've done some googling and have found that everything from an application for a drone to location services issues to corrupted files on the sd card can cause problems with mdnsd.
I have formatted my ext sd card and turned off location services with no luck. I've also dumped many non essential apps.
Is there someway I can find out what app is triggering this service so that I can fix it?
I'm pretty much on the same boat: read about the same possibilities and tried the same tricks, but mDNSd usage keeps climbing as the day goes.
Coincidence or not, all the images in a specific folder on my device's internal memory were mysteriously deleted about the time this bug appeared. I'm using a '14 Moto X BTW.
Overall battery life doesn't seem very affected though, if at all. Guess it would be good if someone with a rooted phone could gather some more info on these stats.

Something to do with firefox for android? https ://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ show_bug.cgi ?id=1215012
I do use Firefox occasionally, although sync is off.
mDNSd does appear when I'm on wifi, but usage is negligible. When I'm on cell data though, it'll keep climbing the stats long after I've closed Firefox, up to the top of the list.
It's not exactly a battery leech, but it does make a dent. Good to know Mozilla is on top of it.
http://www.haesbaert.org/openmdns/mdnsd.8.html
A little info about what it does. I found I was getting it too. I also found I didn't have Greenify set up properly and Firefox was not included. It is now. We'll see.
Greenify works on non-rooted phones now.
I had dismissed Greenify for unrooted devices before, didn't seem "elegant" enough, required user action or an unsafe screen lock etc. But looked into it again because of this very issue, and boy, it really does wonders on a locked device too! One or two "hibernate now" taps a day is enough to make all backgroung creeping apps behave.
For mDNSd though, it doesn't seem to do the trick, as it kept sucking on my battery yesterday even though Firefox had been stopped and properly hibernated with Greenify. I haven't launched Firefox today, and mDNSd doesn't show in stats.
Scrolled quickly through "all apps" looking for something related to mDNSd that could maybe be stopped through app info, but it's probably more like a service. Will try to avoid Firefox for now until Mozilla issues a patch.

Yall should read this. In the last 2 comments they say Firefox 42 is causing it. The commenter said he had to uninstall Firefox to stop it. I have too. I'll be giving Chrome another try. Or maybe it's time to check out all the available browsers again. Thanks @elircorajan for finding it.
I went to the play store and gave it a bad rating explaining about the bug. Maybe if everybody did it would get Mozilla's attention.
Update: I'm giving the stock browser a try. It seems quite a lot better than it used to be.

I had the download folder delete itself right infront of my eyes, was downloading on Firefox. I'm on an S6 edge
Thx to the person who found the issue to be Firefox. I spent about 15 minutes searching for MDNSD before I found this.
I just deleted Firefox. I've been using Chrome, and a little Opera, anyways. I really miss the Android browser for the text flow feature.....
After uninstalling Firefox Beta, the mdnsd usage disappeared and the battery life seems to be much better.

Not only that, the occasional lag I was having seems to be gone. I've settled on using Chrome for now. I've also got rid of Firefox in my computer and I'm using Chrome there too.

Same thing for me (Samsung Note 4). Battery drying up in less than a day, with mdnsd at the top of the list. Uninstalled Firefox and battery back to normal - average a day and half or more.
Firefox 42.0.2 was released yesterday (December 2) and supposedly fixes this issue.
Having the same issue but have never had Firefox always used chrome so not sure what else could be causing it.

Need help with LG VK700 tablet

As the title says my tablet is a VK700 by LG and has android ver 5.0.2 build no is LRX22G software ver VK70029A, no mods or rooted or anything, but there is an issue that I cannot fix using factory resets or updates. I am hoping someone here will be able to assist me. There are some apps on my tablet, as of this post it's all my internet browsers, MeowMeow Star Acres, Class Royale, Clash of Clans, Ancient Aliens, Forge of Empires, SimCity Build It and King of Avalon. These are the ones I know of, but it crashes the games out like I just hit the Home button. No error messages or anything just blank screen n then the menu. And some apps/games crash ALOT more then others. Star Acres & Clash Royale crash alot more then Forge of Empires or King of Avalon, which almost NEVER does it. Which isn't making any sense to me. I have other games which have NEVER done it one time. The other one is on games like King of Avalon I hit the chat menu for example, the keyboard pops up, I type then i get either A)The keyboard just goes away and can't get it back easily and/or i hit the button to delete text and I get something like this "likethis this".
I thought of putting custom android on it, but if I can fix this that works too. Also would be nice to get rid of apps that I have never opened one time. Thanks.

Hi Joe,
Apparently we are the only two people to have purchased this tablet. I do have one question and possible solution for you. Like you, my apps were quitting randomly on me and I could not figure out why. I once had LTE coverage with my tablet but had discontinued that service once I had the device off contract with Verizon. Is that the same with you? Do you use it exclusively on Wi-Fi? If you do, I suggest you remove the SIM card from the device and see if that helps. For some odd reason that helped me tremendously.
Best of Luck!

VPN

I traditionally have used Nord VPN. And have enjoyed it. I don't see much in slow down. And am able to use almost everything I want. I just received an email declaring they were changing their terms of service. And one of those things is able to identify type of device. This brings some worry to me as a user. Since they are able to identify that, what else can they identify? And so, I'm curious. What VPN are you all using, and why?
None... you can't hide on the internet if DOD etc really wants to find you or where you've been.
Lol, they wuv playing games, a challenge; probably better off hiding in plain sight.
When using a VPN they can usually see everything you do it's just hiding you from others that will abuse the info you are using its just like having a isp that won't Share your info as far as I know of I use windscribe personally and have no issues whatsoever with anything.

My wifi is turned off and use Brave browser most of the time.
No issues after years of running like this so VPN would eat more battery and resources for what?
I find I prefer the hiding from the ISP more then from the gov. The ISP sells the info I put into my internet whenever I am on my devices. I prefer that info not being sold. I know that's hard in modern days, and I'm not always successful. But it's worth trying to prevent.

I use brave as well but I also like to watch movies which my isp doesn't allow unless it's a legit stream service (Netflix, Amazon, ect...) so things like cinahub and cinema hd get my internet cut off so I use VPN for that as well as some shows and games come out in other country's a few days before America so having the ability to get them earily is another reason to have a VPN and it literally eats next to no battery life

May I ask which country you are in and which VPN app you're using?
Lol, Brave is a bit hard on battery but without it some sites be completely impossible to be on with ads jumping everywhere.

I live in the USA. Where if you don't use a VPN you get bombarded with ads like nobody's business. I've found Nord VPN isn't super heavy on battery life.

Might try it again. Don't have too much trouble with ads since Brave is my primary browser.
The major failing with a Android that's not rooted is no easy firewall. Big security risk and system drain.

I find with my note 10 plus. If I've disabled all of the bixby "stuff", and disable the device personalization from google. And few other apps. And then run my VPN, I'm pretty good. I make it through a day easy. Unless I start downloading or using super heavy.

All the Google junk is disabled, Samsung and carrier feedback. Still not enough though.
Samsung and some 3rd party apks are prime offenders.
I hate bixby... dead as Zed.

No. I don't do much side loading, I try to limit trying Playstore apps as well.
One of the ways I avoid reloads and keep the system fast and stable.

The Karma Firewall is running very well and uses almost no battery. Wow.
This apk pleasantly surprised me.
I have a lifetime account on CyberGhost VPN but due to some concerns that seem to appear about them not being really full logging free I just changed to SurfShark. Both seemed to be ok for me but I got some extra options on SurfShark like kill switch, true adds filtering, GPS location spoofing to the VPN location , etc. Also they still have a really great offer and I got like 3 years for unde 2$ per month.
