Mediatek devices don't support Non-Continguous carrier aggregation - Redmi Note 8 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Did anyone notice that all mediatek devices/chipsets even the recent G90T, G95, G85, or P-Series etc do not have
Intra-band Non-Contiguous CA (Carrier Aggregation) and
Inter-band Carrier Aggregation in them ?? except for the latest and recently launched Dimensity mediatek series. Most of their devices only have 1 type of Carrier Aggregation, even the latest phones launched with G80, G90T, G95; they only have simple intra-band Contiguous CA type implemented in them. I checked several phones and tested with different operators as well and only one type of Carrier Aggregation implementation is done by mediatek devices while snapdragon has better even on 600-series SOCs, etc.
Isn't this sort of silently being cheated by the mediatek ??. let us just take one SOC... as per mediatek G90T specs on its site it says 3xCA, 4x4 MIMO, 256QAM and speeds upto 1Gbps if you look up the pdf for same G90T series on their product page.
I searched a lot but still couldn't find any info or if anyone is getting other 2 Carrier Aggregation types working for them. But they have started offering all 3 types of CA after Dimensity 5G SOC series. I do understand that not all is offered as per the specs which involves other licensing stuff etc but still this is not right when compared to snapdragon devices. Its sort of like info related to which types of Carrier Aggregation is supported on devices is hid to users and user experiences speed issues related to 4G+ and its related and looking for means to unlock bands or CA types on Software levels which are sort of None for mediatek devices compared to Snapdragon when hardware itself is not support on mediatek.
Can you guys check if your mediatek devices older than dimensity supports Intraband Non-Continuous or inter-band CA ?. using any service mode/code or apps like Netmonster, etc. Do post screenshot if possible.
For those who are not aware or complaining Netmoster doesn't show proper CA info, Netmonster app just shows "LTE-A 2300" for Intraband Contiguous CA (Type 1 CA) along with 4G+ symbol on status bar for 40C;
"LTE-A 2300+2300" will be shown if a Intraband Non-Contiguous (Type 2 CA) is working on device. However this 2nd will not be shown monstly on mediatek devices on non-dimensity devices.

I maintain large database of supported Carrier Aggregation combinations cacombos.com. There you can check different devices combinations support.
Netmonster app is not accurate because it only show connected state and it doesn't always show right. Best way is collect modem log and read it to find supported Carrier Aggregation combinations.
There is also Helio -series modem support non-contiguous CA example: https://cacombos.com/device/CPH1951

Hi man, i am not highly technical person but i need help. I am using poco m4 pro 4G (g96) version which is 4G+ supported phone but it doesn't show 4g+ in status bar when mobile data turned on. While my 3 years old redmi note 8 pro showing 4g+ in exact same place exact same network sim card etc. I have tried messing with Apns and engineering mode settings but everything seems fine. i also checked in net monster app and poco is not combining bands while redmi note 8 is doing it so. i have tried installing other region roms as well but issue is still same.. Any idea what's going on?

LTE+ support to make 3CA work on Bands 3+5+40??

MI has done an awesome job in bringing a phone without USB-C to not use QC v4.0, also its mind-blowing X12 modem supporting LTE speeds of 600Mbps only if 3CA is enabled.
In India due to Jio's entry, airtel also has raced against them. Atleast in major cities, LTE+ is already enabled but Indians hardly have phones that support such lovely speeds! In RN4 (mido) people reported unlocking bands through QXDM never worked!
So., How to enable LTE+ in RN5Pro supporting 3CA and RN5 supporting 2CA..?
Well I can't speak for the Redmi series but my Mi 5 had shown me 4G+ (2x carrier aggregation) sometimes when I was traveling abroad, but since the RN4 never really supported CA there is a chance that it'll be spared for the higher end models again. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi activates it. But you surely can't activate it by yourself.
I think OEMs add some sh*t un used C.A band combinations and advertise as 4g+. Just want to know what network C.A combination Xiaomi added to this Redmi note 5 pro to market it as 4G+?. I always gets response from some moto idoits- "2018 randi nude has no C.A support". I need something to support this. ? Please anyone give me RFNV information of what bands C.A combinations this device supports....so users can edit that for possible network combinations in their country. Technically everything inside is excellent for value, but missing C.A in 2018 annoys much. Tmrw I will try to buy one in flash sale. OEMs market as 4g+ just by adding some unusable combinations, so this RFNV information helps me. If it supports any odd bands then I can edit to combination I need. If it's C.A is antenna restricted block then I can't do any edit workaround. Help me think on this before buying, still I don't care of C.A benfits bcz here in India it's total congestion bcz of ultra cheap plans..so technically it makes no difference , just bcz its 2018 buy I do care a little.. I see nothing on this RN5pro C.A band related 4g+ support....any rooted user plz check it's RFNV information.

For redmi note 5 pro diagnostics mode- try
I've tried all this steps in my Redmi Note 4 and it simply doesn't work. Once RFNV is modified phone starts showing LTE+ but does not latch to SC secondary band at all. Highlighted error is what I get in diagnostic log (as attached) and I'm pretty sure even in Note5Pro it'll be the same. Hence don't buy Redmi Mid range you are looking to escape carrier congestion.

LTE-A Carrier Aggregation

Hey guys,
I know that the chipset is Exynos 9610 and capable of LTE-A CA 3Down/2UP according to this link: https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/exynos/products/mobileprocessor/exynos-7-series-9610/
However it seems Samsung has disabled this capability by default.
Any ideas how to activate this?
I think there is no way to enable more CA combos in Samsung Exynos devices, but i have listed all combos supported by this phone:
https://cacombos.com/device?model=SM-A505F (Global, EU)
https://cacombos.com/device?model=SM-A505G (Latin-America)

Unlock additional DR (5G) bands?

Hi all,
I'm wondering whether it is possible in some way to unlock additional NR bands on the S20. As far as I understand the Snapdragon 865 chipset, it comes as a fully-fledged 5G mobile platform which can be used in all countries and which supports all possible NR frequencies/bands.
So, it seems to me, that Samsung just locks off the majority of bands in the different models (for example, I got the G9810 and like to use it overall in Europe. However, Samsung only delivers the bands N1 and N78 but not e.g. N28).
Would be great if anybody could give me a hint about this.
Best

I think there is no way to add more bands because these are defined to hardware. But i'm very interested about your model 4G Carrier Aggregation Combinations. These can get from log file: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ons-from-your-android-phone/#Qualcomm_devices . Could you please share to me this BandInfo file? You can send this to https://cacombos.com/contribute
check out the Samsung Band Selection app on the Play Store. Supposedly, it can unlock hidden bands.
I looked at it but I'm unsure which bands are available to Sprint/ T Mobile in the St. Louis area. I set to Automatic. Playing it safe I guess .
Also when I switch to 5G it doen't show any bands. The S20 + is capable of more 5G bands I hear

Only can disable/enable bands what hardware support. If it doesn't you can't just randomly unlock bands.

What model Samsung S20+ you have? From modem logs you could export some data what your phone support: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ions-from-your-android-phone/#Samsung_Devices

Note 10+ 5g Coverage

I was wondering how much of a 5g coverage limitation there was for the N976V in comparison the N976U variants. Both devices are unlocked.
According to Service Manual the capability is only on the high frequencies 5G NR, nothing mentioned on the Sub6.
Have not checked the actual ICs yet. If the ICs are there on the board, it should be possible to get Sub6 bands by completely modifying the device preferably with full root and unlocked bootloader. For NA devices this is hard as exploits for them get patched quickly including inside the CPU by QFuse which locks the CPU to specific hardened bootloader.
Not sure about antenna routing for the Sub6 that may require even more low level Qualcomm modification.

Question G8VOU to GLUOG

How can I convert from G8VOU to GLUOG
You can't change the model of your phone. The hardware is different. There is no way to convert one to another.

Regarding P6P 5G model numbers and capabilities:
There are three hardware versions:
G8VOU (AU, US); also listed as G8V0U - zero instead of "oh" on some sites, Google shows the former, G8VOU) - has mmWave 5G support
GF5KQ (JP) - has mmWave 5G support
GLUOG (CA, DE, FR, GB, IE, TW) - no mmWave 5G support
For instance, my factory unlocked direct from Google in the United States Pixel 6 Pro 512 GB is a G8VOU. As far as I know, all other variations in each individual phone are controlled by software (which firmware is loaded) and over the internet (which IMEIs are Carrier Unlocked or not, and OEM Unlockable or not).
Check carriers, their 5G networks & their 5G roaming support for Pixel phones. Make sure and choose your country from the drop-down to see the list of carriers beneath.
There's also the section above that Learn which Pixel phones can work with which kinds of 5G.
