Hello....I have an unrooted OnePlus9 Pro that I am interested in rooting. I am mostly interested in getting updated kernals, customizations and apps such as Viper. I have been out of the rooting routine for a few years (last done on my Note5 about 5 years ago) so I have had to come up to speed on the "new" rooting techniques. I feel like I have the steps down and can perform them properly. My main concern is that I really need to have access to my work Outlook365 account and I want to make sure Magisk will handle that without issue. I have done some searches but have not found any RECENT observations, so I thought I could reach out to the community to get your feedback. I am less worried about banking apps, but I do use Venmo periodically.
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences with Magisk and Outlook365 and, if possible, the steps for getting it up and running.
Thanks!
I have to use 365 for work too and i can confirm that rooting and magisk hide work perfectly and passing safetynet. So no issues with 365.
Same here. I use Office 365 for work, have a rooted OP9 Pro with the custom Omega kernel. No issues at all. That said, I've exclusively used the Nine email app for emails for the last 5 years or so, so I can't speak to whether you will encounter any issues with other email apps such as the Outlook app, but I'd strongly assume it should work just fine as well.
Thank you @hallo dare and @elodin_89! I appreciate your feedback. Any tips on the steps necessary to set up Outlook to work right the first time?

Just hide magisk from it and any other Microsoft apps and it'll be fine.

HI all,
So I got my P600 note for Christmas and am loving it. However I am more and more annoyed by the fact that Google Play and Youtube seem to get ALOT of connection time outs which NEVER happen on ANY other apps. I see many people suggest to do a factory reset to clear up issues but since I have my note well setup and configured along with important Textbooks and lecture notes I was hoping for a less aggressive solution that does not clear my existing data? I was also wondering if possibly updating to ML1 the Taiwanese update would possibly fix the issues? Are there any benefits in general to ML1? I'm still very hesitant to root as the though of losing my warranty on such a expensive device is quite scary any thoughts on whether or not too root?
THANKS
LordKoga
EDIT:
So I've rooted and installed Xposed disabled KNOX via TitaniumBackup and installed BusyBox. Strangely my device seems a bit slower? I'm noticing Xposed modules don't all want to play nicely. For example I can't get xBatteryThemer or Wanam Xposed to change settings to change to circle battery I needed to use gravitybox to get it to work. And when I pull down the status bar it is cut off at each side although t resized correctly?? Whats up with all this?

Just got this phone a couple of days ago and have already rooted it and have S-Off. The next thing I'm looking to do is DeBloat it and make it as Sense(less) as possible. My last few phones have been Samsung's so I'm a little out of the loop with HTC. I was hoping that someone who is qualified and has actually tested what they preach can make an alphabetical list of apps that can be removed w/o interrupting major functions such as CAMERA features, Phone, SMS/MMS, IR Blaster. I have no interest in the Sense launcher and widgets so as far as I'm concerned I would like to see all those apps removed.
Anyone with the know how and patience please step up to the plate...I'm sure there are a lot of people who root their phones who would say that DeBloating is their #1 priority.
Thanks in advance for any and all contributions!
Why not just use this

Whatever you do just back it all up and test it before deleting anything.
Initially I deleted all sorts of apps, but to be honest is easier just to hide them and leave them alone for the ota's.
Also coming from Samsung myself and CM7, I quite like Sense 6, it seems light weight enough and actually benefits the phone.
I'm fairly computer literate but I have zero experience with rooting phones. I have no idea about modules, or even what they mean. To be honest, I don't even really want to root my device, but Google has forced my hand. Call recording (totally legal where I live) is an essential part of my job, and as you all know by now Google has restricted this feature with Andriod Pie. It was preventing me from getting a new device, but now I simply have to upgrade. Now, I can look all this up given some instruction on how to root, but I can't find anything comprehensive in regards to my specific application.
What I'm looking for is someone to explain to me how to root the Pixel 3xl for the purposes of recording phone calls. Here are my questions:
1. Is there a certain program to use when rooting for this purpose or can I root in any fashion?
2. I don't need instructions on how to root the phone (I know this information exists and I can find it) but what do I do after I root my device in order to get Call Recording to work? Is it as simple as just rooting the phone then downloading a call recorder app?
3. Is one app better than another when downloading to a rooted phone?
4. Can someone explain, step by step what I need to do in order for this to go smoothly? I'd really hate to buy a brand new Pixel, then immediately brick the thing. (eg. Step 1. Root phone. Step 2. download this module Step 3.......etc)
If this information already exists, then please point me in the right direction. I really have searched for a step by step guide, and just cannot find one.
Thanks all for your help.
Before rooting your phone, try call recorder cube acr by Catalina group in the play store.
There is nothing that works as good as rooted call recording, and I've tried a bunch.
Here is the guide you need to root. You will need to unlock bootloaders and then root in that order (note: rooting will delete the data on your phone like a factory reset would so make sure to back everything up first).
Next, what I use is Call Recorder by @skvalex and it's amazing, the best I have found and it syncs to google drive automatically. So I can go back for years and find conversations if I would like to... There used to be two versions, a regular non-root version and a ROOT version, the latter is what you want (he may have combined them both into one now though). I'm not sure if that is what is on his site or not, you will probably need to reach out to him. You will also have to purchase ( a one time fee of $10 in the play store but for me totally worth it and MUCH better than a monthly plan). Then in the settings just make sure you select the ROOT method of recording. (settings>recording method>ROOT). He used to point people here for the root app but looks like he just updated it recently. The version I'm on is 3.2.0

That's actually what I use currently on my LG G6. I've heard of some users having absolutely no issue with ACR on the Google Pixel 3xl with Andriod Pie but it seems these cases are rare(ish) and most likely have to do with either the country the user is in or where the phone is from, but I haven't figured that part out yet. I will certainly try it when I buy my Pixel xl3 and report back, but my hopes are low on this.

That's awesome info thanks. I've heard people saying a few different apps work but it seems they all have to further modify their system in order to use them. Other than switching the app to "Root Mode" it sounds like this is just as easy as rooting the phone, then installing the app right?

Yep!
I only use my smartphone for OTPs... Authy, the Steam app etc and hopefully my bank account app. The thing is, the bank account app only works on Android 6+.
Given all that I want is Android 6 or above please can someone recommend a ROM. Something that works well...GPS and WiFi included. The phone doesn't have a SIM card and I'm thinking about using it to track my running.
Thanks for any help. I've barely used a smartphone since the s4 mini came out so I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all!
I don't use banking apps and GPS only rarely. Last time battery drain because of using GPS. Well, maybe because of Sunlight...
LineageOS 17 works well. Use the right version. Banking app with Magisk Root should be possible, but I don't know how.
A new cheap phone with original ROM and better GPS may be better for you.
Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond... accidentally wiped my password manager file, lost my login details and forgot which email I registered with! Nightmare!
I'll give LineageOS 17 a whirl.
I'm sorry to ask a question that has been asked a million times!
Is there a straight forward set of instructions available to help me flash my phone? I would like to make a backup of the current (factory) ROM and then flash it with a LineageOS 17 ROM that hasn't been tampered with. No offence intended to people that mod released ROMs, I'd like something that has come from the initial developers.
Thank you!
EDIT: Yes, I have considered buying a new phone. I love the size of the Galaxy S4 mini and have seen that Sony (I think!) has released more recent phones of similar size. I may well buy a replacement if I can't get LineageOS to do what I need. Thanks
I should add that I prefer to use Linux (OpenSuse)... if Windows is necessary it's WIndows 10.
When I switch to a banking app (e.g. Revolut) to authorize a purchase by a debit or credit card, the merchant website with the authorizing process gets killed in the background. When I switch back after authorizing the payment in my banking app the merchant website is dead and the payment failed. This happens with websites (Chrome) as well as payments within apps. My workout is to open both apps in splitscreen mode but some apps like Revolut do not support splitscreen or behaves buggy (Klarna).
I am using stock android 10. Any suggestions?

Ah. Android One? This is the similar guide for Android One. You could also try the generic instructions.

Just curious, would you mind telling me about your experience with Havoc? How are you finding it? ...I've been tempted to try flashing a custom rom (for the first time) cuz of the bad ram management of stock rom, but i'm not sure about which one to choose.

Havoc is much better than stock at keeping apps active even if you switch to a different one. Also if you flash the Gapps version, it's the only custom rom (I found) that works with Android Auto.
I get good battery life for an almost 4 year old phone, and even if I keep it running for over 20 days without rebooting, the speed remains the same. Which was not the case on stock (I needed to reboot at least once a week or it would slow down)
Of course, your mileage may vary depending on the number and type of apps you have installed.

First of all thanks a ton for answering so fast, fr. You pretty much convinced me to give it a shot. I was wondering, can you give me any directions in order to go install it? I never flashed before, so if you got any tips i'd highly appreciate. Also do you have any bugs to report, cause I've looked around and i always see people complaining about issues with banking apps/camera/fingerprint scanner/audio and so on...is it your case too?
On a sidenote, what about kernels? Do you use a custom one along with the rom? And the updates, do you have to reflash it everytime a new version is available or is it built-in?
Sorry for the wall of questions, and thank you for your time already.

I flashed the kernel included with the rom. Updates are OTA, so no need to reflash, it will silently install and update.
Flashing instructions can be found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stable-havoc-os-rom-r-android-11-0-official-mi-a2-lite.4282247/
Support is available on Telegram by the community and the maintainer (this link may or may not work: https://t.me/c/1244092342/35304 )
As far as bugs are concerned, I had one major issue 2 or 3 releases ago: Android Auto stopped working due the the fact that the Gapps package was changed a bit. I reached out to the maintainer and he sent me a custom installation ZIP the next day. It worked again and following releases had Android Auto back in them.
