the 2 sims are listed, but in order to change their settings, I need to click on it and it opens the settings...

And when it was like this, I can change each setting for which sim I want to use, at any moment...
I'm not sure what changed, I don't always use 2 sims (most of the time its an SD card) so it might have been a change in a os update, or it might have been something I changed in the odm/etc/csc feature xml files (which I added and changed many things for different settings I wanted, like giving the alarm clock an option to boot up the phone of it was shut off, for example)
Or it might be some root or exposed module... (I'll test this tomorrow if I get the time, though I doubt thats the cause...)
If any one knows what caused this, or how to revert it, please let me know

I assume that the change was caused by a recent firmware update.
You have some options in settings - connections - SIM card management (or similar). There you can select which SIM card to use for calls and which one for mobile data. And you can disable/enable dual SIM feature.
If you do not find those settings, you may have to install latest stock Samsung firmware for your device.

Any way to change the order of the Apps in the menu?
/ I mean it should better to view them by alphabetical order /
I think the order stored in a (text) file. If we could find it, we could able to make an application (for a PC, may java app for the phone) to re-order them, and that application could push back the new file...
Check with sTune for instance folder:
Registry\MainMenu_reg.ini
Here are 10 Pages... each are for 12 Apps... maximum 120 Apps on 10 sites.
Apps have MenuID
Where the ID exact stored, NO idea at the moment... So you have to understand which ID is your App.
As every Page is arranged by
MenuIDx you can find App per count...
First left App on top starts with 0, last right App bottom ends with 11...
Rumours about MainMenu_reg.ini... depend on Firmware Version it is writeprotected.
To sort by alphabet it is easier to do it on handset.
In my opinion.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
See here for some Screenshots:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916940
As example Route 66 the Navigation on ID 53. Now you could copy this 53 to every Position you want.
Edit 2.
sTune is an PC Tool with the Power to change MainMenu_reg.ini and copy back to handset. See last Tab.
First:
We should have explore to find the connection between the ID and the location where the app stored (in memeroy or an SD card)
Next: we have to pair the ID with the application'S info to read the name of the app from the XML
Then we should do the trick to change the IDs in the matrix of the menu
I found that Softkey_reg.ini use the same index number to know which 3 app used on softkeys as you see below:
#Version
Version=1
#Softkey
SKMenuID0=67
SKMenuType0=0
SKMenuID1=69
SKMenuType1=0
SKMenuID2=68
SKMenuType2=0
It should be changed to any ID of an app
On the right bottom corner of the first page of mine menu there is a Flash Torch app. As I found, the app id# is 190. I searched for it, and i found under (where applications installed) in a sys file called Appinfo.sys
Registry/MainMenu_reg.ini:
#Page0 (first page)
..
MenuID11=190
Mount/Mnt/Mmc/Others/[email protected]@[email protected]@__/XYZ/Info/Appinfo.sys:
<Application ID="190" AppId="3w1n2nuqxk" Name="Flash Torch">
The connection is:
(MainMenu_reg.ini).MenuID11 -- > (Appinfo.sys).Apllication ID --> Name

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now somebody should make a java widget, what should read the Name from every Appinfo.SYS, and put them into an array, sort them by the first letters, and put index orders, save the MainMenu_Reg.ini to SD card, then replace it with the fresh new ordered numbers
Hello,
I have had my phone for a while now, but today was the first time since I got the phone that I looked at the device administrators area (settings / security / device administrators) and I noticed that there was an item called "Phone Info" that was activated by default and after reading about what it is supposed to do, I decided to deactivate it, but I was unable to do so. My questions therfore are:
1.) what is the purpose of this item?
2.) why can I not deactivate it?
3.) is it normal for it to be activated by default?
4.) if is not needed than how do I get rid of it?
In case it helps, my phone is rooted and I am still running the stock 4.1.2 ROM that came with the phone.
A few days ago I tried out the "All In One" 4.3 Stock ROM from Thunder Stick, but it was not working for me to well so I restored my nandroid backup of my original stock ROM so I am not sure If the other ROM has anything to do with it or not or if the setting has always been like that, but as I said before, I just noticed it today and would like to know what it is and how to deactivate it if I can.
Thanks for any and all replies,
Mtcell

Here is another one that shows the permissions dialog and where I should be able to deactivate it, but pressing the deactivate button has no effect.
That is weird. I am checking my s3 now but this is all it shows on my optimus G. Maybe it is a Samsung thing?

Edit: here is what my s3 shows under those settings, but remember, my s3 isn't activated. Maybe it is just the activation stuff?

Thanks for the reply. After doing some research I have discovered that it is part of some corporate security thing that sprint has on some of the newer s3's (see the attached screenshot) Anyway, I have frozen the app since there is no way to disable it. That will work for now until I change my stock ROM in a few weeks.
If anyone else has this app setup as a device administrator and wants to disable it than you can use the pro version of titanium backup or the free version of sd maid to freeze the app like I have done. Note, your phone must be rooted to use these apps.
Hi,
the speaker on my One M8 (Lollipop) wasn't working anymore so I got a replacement from Vodafone (Germany) with Marshmallow pre-installed. After everything was set up on the new phone, I wanted to use navigation in Maps, but it wasn't working. Maps just couldn't get a fix on my location.

}
I downloaded GPS Status from the play store and it confirmed that GPS wasn't working: "No Fix".
After that, I did the following:
Turning GPS on/off
Inserting a different SIM card
Toggling the location setting between "High Accuracy"/"Device only"
Soft reset (Reboot)
Turning off battery optimization for all GPS apps
Factory reset
All that didn't work. So I got another replacement phone from Vodafone (a completely different device) and I got the exact same problem with this one. My humble guess is that it seems to be a problem with marshmallow.
Some additional information:
Android 6.0
HTC Sense 7.0
Build 6.12.161.4 CL662736
So, any news from this? I have the same problem and don't want to resort to custom roms or a downgrade.

In Settings>Apps, go to Google Maps (or whatever app or apps you are trying to use along with GPS) and in Permissions, confirm if Location is toggled on.
In MM, lots of permissions need to be activated on a per-app basis. So I suspect that may be the issue (Location permission is simply not toggled on). Also, when setting up the phone, there was the option to allow Location to be shared with apps, and you may have selected "No" causing this permission to be toggled off for all apps as default.

Thank you, unfortunately that didn't help. I'm beginning to suspect hardware failure (even though phone is new).
I checked the permissions on all apps using location, and tinkered with all sorts of settings. Nothing helped.
Hello,
It's been a long time that I'm trying to find a solution with the notification issue that we all moto users have. I tried third party applications such as noLED, dynamic notifications, notifications manager, acDisplay etc but nothing gave me back the satisfaction of the simplicity of moto display that were breathing. As everyone knows Motorola - Lenovo decided to completely remove the option of breathing/pulsing the notification screen which means that there is no way to be informed except for waving the hand over the screen.
The funniest part of the whole story is that while you open the moto display app, you find a guide inside which in the first says to you '' Battery friendly notifications fade in and out so you 're always in the know''. It might be a good idea to inform motorola somehow to make a decision because she feels significantly confused about that.
So, trying to find a solution, I'm asking if there is any one of you who find a way to make the notifications ''be repeated''. The other two things that I thought is to find an old version of moto display that had the breathing mode enabled or to modify the script of the updated version.
I wish not to be alone to that golgotha!
Thank you

EDIT: Looking for root testers. The .apk file is in post #3.
I need some root testers for a modified MotoDisplay.apk version by me.
I edited the code of the apk and I made a try to enable the ''breathing'' option in the main menu of Moto>Display> ''new tool''.
This is my first trial MotoDisplay.apk. I hope to have appeared a new setting in Moto Display settings where you can enable the breathing mode. It is based on the Moto_Display_06.071.4_.apk update.
Need some root testers to install the app. (rename the MotoDisplay_tsoump_trial_1.apk to MotoDisplay.apk and replace it to system/priv-app/MotoDisplay/ )
I have tried so much to find a way to install a system .apk without root, but I couldn't. This is why I'm looking for root testers.
I'm looking forward to respondig me!
Thanks in advance!

My problem is the warranty. I don't want to void it because someday I will face up the common problem with the battery drain.
Did anybody try the new .apk?
Hello XDA,
Hoping someone here can help me. Not sure if it was relevant, but something must be but I was installing an APP on my P20 that helps to verify you to access Canada Gov't websites. Yada yada and now my phone has a password on it. At some point I was given Google Codes, but those do not unlock my phone now. I tried updating the phone from wifi and safe mode however it still comes up with the password screen below. The SIM card is now in my new phone (S20 - done with Huawei) and the old phone is in Airplane mode. When I drag up from the bottom you can see that menu at the bottom that mentions "Enable Magazine unlock" but doesn't do anything except calculator and flashlight.
Yes I can access recovery menu and the option to Factory Reset is certainly there and I know how to use it. The thing is I have over 3000 photos (most of them of our Cats) on there and I cannot and will not lose them. Been hacking this thing for a few days now and even though the P20 does not have an SD CARD slot, I was able to insert a USB stick in the USB-C slot with a bunch of useful hack .APKs but I cannot seem to be able to use them. In the EMUI menu I can select Update from USB but it just hangs at 5%.
I don't mind any kind of solution but it has to keep my data. Would installing Cyanogenmod delete my data? Anyone encountered this before? Also - obviously my phone has not been rooted and trying to connect to the PC via USB does recognize the phone, but Visual Studio, the Huawei software and ADB and everything else does not recognize it enough to communicate with it, perhaps because of the password.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
DJ Lem

Have you try to make a backup onto your pc or does it not see the device? I know there’s Back up Option under recovery mode at more than one place but not so sure if it would include all of your data.
The only way to disable a password on a huawei is thro factory-reset along with the password setup proses.
You said something about google codes. Can’t it by chance be from your find my phone, that the device is secured from find my phone platform
