so i have a galaxy note 8 and i have had it for 6 months now and the battery life is just awful i can only usually get 1hour screen time and its already down to 60-70 percent.
i have done every single battery saving trick in the god damn books, i have battery saving on, brightness down, no haptic feedback sound, no motion controls, no sync, no auto updates, no gps, the only thing on my quick toggles are wifi and power saving and rotation on.
i have used juice defender
i have rooted and used titanium backup to debloat everything!
i am using greenify
i have tried everything but it does not seem to be improving

I'm new here since I bought the device yesterday, but this looks like a general issue...
This thread explains battery saving, some issues that might be related to your case are:
- If you misuse Greenify or any other "battery saving" apps they can actually lead to battery drain
- @gafri1: If "When charging , you must power off until 100%" means that every time you charge you must do it until 100% then it's false. Lithium ion batteries DO NOT have "memory", so charging to 100% or 70% doesn't make any difference. There's this thread that contains a brief explanation and this entire website dedicated to batteries.
As far as your specific problem is concerned, what do your battery stats say?
Better Battery Stats and Wakelock Detector can be used to collect more complete battery stats. They DO NOT SAVE BATTERY, they just tell you what might be draining it. The first step should be to check the built in battery stats in the Settings and then turn to other more sophisticated tools.
Charging issues
OK, had a few instances of odd charging that may be what is happening.
One OEM cable got pinched at the head of the micro USB. Shorting and bad connection. Battery shows charging, but never increasing charge.
Ended up melting the head and heating up the tablet.
Long aftermarket charging cable or extension cord. Some do not have proper pin out... will not charge or show charge. End up having little charge after disconnecting from charger.
I watched, a tablet go from 100% to 90% within 2 minutes and slowly decrease the rate until it leveled at 60%. A false reading of charge state until battery data caught up with battery's true charge.
WiFi only, or connected to cell network? This is a very important detail, since if its on the cell network, the reception in your area can have a HUGE effect on battery drain. In fact, when talking about smartphones, I'd say cell reception is the primary factor behind battery life.
In any case, the battery drain you mention (30-40% drain with 1 hour screen on time) is not awful, although not great either. Especially depending on what you are doing during that screen on time (gaming can be a huge drain, streaming video too, but usually less so). I get maybe 5 hours screen on time if I'm watching Netflix. That with no battery saving, WiFi only Note 8.
Also, make sure Smart Stay is turned off, as it seemed to me to be a big battery drain (and never really worked all that well for me, anyway).

Agree with both these points. I've seen these "battery saver" types of apps (Juice Defender in particular) which have caused more issues than they solve. Some folks will swear by them. But don't take for granted they will increase your battery, and use them wisely. Don't "misuse" them as you say.
And charging while the phone is powered off is a myth that has been debunked long ago. Aside from the fact that the device will charge slightly faster (it won't be draining as its charging) this will have no effect on battery life.
Thx for information
exactly the same for me
I posted it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50558312
Sorry , Thx for the info , my note sometimes when charging until above 80% can go up until 100% in one minute what's about this problem anyone know ?
(Sorry bad English)
how many hours did you charge your note 8?
When i use new cable (custom cable ) the charge became faster , i only charge 2 hours 30 minutes
Become 100% , is it problem for my battery?

I have noticed some cables are faster than others. My bedroom charger will charge from dead in under 3 hours, the downstairs one will take 4 hours.
leave it on power saving mode always. It's the only way I get the battery to last on idle. in comparison the ipad air can sit days / weeks almost on idle.
Does battery lfie improve with CM? Can we put CM on 4.4 kitkat note 8?

[Q] Battery Draining Normal?

I recently got this phone, mainly because it's the most developer-friendly phone (once S-Off is achieved) which supports MirrorLink.
Although I've heard great things about this phone's battery life, I'm kind of disappointed with the battery being used up while I'm not using the phone. I'll go into more details.
I'm a very light user most of the time. I have had my phone on right now for 15h, 16m, and the screen's only been on for 14 minutes. The battery is at 82%
On my iPhone, I usually get home from work with 95%+ charge left. The amount of charge left on my iPhone varies basically with how much I used the phone, but with usage as light as mine, I barely use 5% a day. This phone, though, despite not being used, seems to drain at least 25% each day.
The major users according to battery stats are the phone radio and the android kernel.
My assumption is that the way Android handles push notifications is different from iOS, and that must be why my iPhone simply doesn't drain on standby. But does anyone have an M8 that behaves better on standby, with notifications on? Or does anyone know the exact reason for this 0.7~1.5% per hour battery drainage and a way to stop it?
Since I can usually charge the phone every night, it's not too big of an issue, but it does bother me that it drains regardless of usage. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Battery Life Benchmark

I wanted to make this thread to see if fellow Pixel XL users could help me identify possible causes of my phone's heavy battery drain. I am not a heavy user of my phone and I was suspicious of the battery drain with my light use. I like to maximize battery life, so I turn off pretty much all notifications and have the screen at about 33% brightness. I don't have apps running in the background. I do have Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS High Accuracy, and "OK Google" constantly on. I ran PC Mark's Work 2.0 battery benchmark test on my Pixel XL yesterday due to my suspicions, and was disappointed to see the result of 4hr 23min (SOT). This seemed very poor for the PIxel XL. This was with the screen at about 33% and 100% charge. I decided to do a factory reset and try the battery benchmark test again with 33% brightness and 100% charge. Due to the factory reset, Wifi was on, but Bluetooth, GPS High Accuracy, and "OK Google" were all off and no additional apps were installed. To my surprise, I got a rating of 8hr 24min (SOT) on the battery benchmark after the factory reset. This is perfectly in line with the average time of other Pixel XL user’s battery benchmark (based on the app).
The question is, does anyone know of any particularly battery heavy apps that might be the culprit? It is hard for me to believe that Bluetooth, GPS High Accuracy, and "OK Google" being on would cause this massive difference. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated because I would like to be able to use the phone normally and not have to worry about poor battery life.

Horrible battery life after upgrade to A10, also powers off early - any options?

Hello,
AFter upgrading to Android 10, like many others, my battery life became horrible.
It's not just that it drains fast. It's that it also sometimes will turn off when it says I have 20% battery left, only to plug in and turn back on, it says I'm at 30% or so.
I have used those root apps to clear battery status, but there doesn't seem to be a difference.
I really don't want to buy a new phone now, but is there SOME Option for at least getting a normal battery life on the Pixel XL once you've upgraded to A10?
Hello, run the app "Accubattery" a full day when you're at 100% battery. You will know the culprit of the battery after a day of use.

Android System Battery Drain

Hello everyone. I am newbie here.I have a question. After I have updated to MIUI 12.0.6, android system has started to drain my battery( Same day I've dropped the phone and inserted second SIM to my phone. I don't know theese are related) . I used to charge my phone once a day and I was getting about 6 and 7 hours of screen time now it is about 3 hours. Even I dont't use the phone it is using power. I've downgraded to 12.0.5 then to MIUI 11 but did not work. Still same. What am I supposed to do? Any thoughts? Thank you.
check battery health, download accubattery app, after few charging cycles it will display your battery current capacity, if its fine then youll need to calibrate your battery. if its not then probably fault with the battery.
Calibrate Battery is very simple. Charge your phone to 100% then use it and completely discharge it to 0
then switch off phone and charge to 90% then use upto 0 again. now 3rd time charge normally. if you followed these steps then you should be getting better battery. This all i know , if it doesnt work then try to find solution in Youtube.

I have been using AccuBattery since i bought my XRN8P, I only ever charge to 80% apart from the off 100% charge to calibrate the battery gauge every couple of months and my battery health is shows as 99%
So i have not noticed any drop in battery runtime at all.
I was facing the same issue on my Xiaomi. After applying these fixes, my battery life is normal now. You can try these solutions.
Clear Google Play Services Data
Wipe Android System Cache
Restrict Background Activities Of Rarely Used Apps
Uninstall Unused Apps
Disable Automatic Backups
Change Your Android’s Theme & Fonts
