got a fresh V500, which Android to install?

Just got an unused v500 . What should I do, leave it with Android 4? Or install ASOP 7.1? Whats best for normal usage? Is it fast enough for the newest Android version? Any disadvantages?
I have v500 since past two years, so far AOSP 7.1 and LineageOS official latest nightly are the best , though I prefer Lineage since AOSP 7.1 has some performance issues.
Thanks I give the Lineage thingy a try then.

Are 6.0 Roms better for performance or 7.0 Roms?

So the T-mobile stock rom is stuck in 4.4 as we all know and I wanted to know if another rom would make it faster or slower? Which would be the best rom for performance and what OS 6.0, 7.0, or 5.0 is generally better. Also, battery life is a concern
Similar concern, how are last builds of cm 13? I know 7.0 is in flux with transition to lineageos. But I'm about to pull the trigger on a used s4 to be my new daily driver. It's the most compact GSM phone with relatively modern specs and good custom ROM support
Any input greatly appreciated
The last build of CM is rather stable and has proved to be the most reliable for daily use. AlaskaLinuxUser seems to be the only remaining active dev for the M919. He recently mentioned that he will continue to support the (currently 7.1.1) AOKP rom, which for the time being is the only actively maintained Android N rom for our obscure variant of the S4. It is rather stable but there are a few quirks. If we are lucky, an official Lineage 14 build will be made available soon. I wouldn't count on it though!

im getting random reboots on aokp, what is the best aosp rom for s4 rn? (nougat or otherwise?)
Same here, I've had several issues with 7.x.x roms and rather dreadful battery life. I would recommend the final build of CM 13 as a stable OS until some milestones are met.

LOS 16 Firmware?

Hi,
I'm currently using the latest nightly build for Lineage OS 16 and the OOS 5.0.8 firmware (latest stable i could find)
My wifi performance is allot worse than in OOS and i have a feeling my reception is as well. (1/3th of the speed in OOS)
although usable, i think i need another firmware+modem.
The open beta's seem older (version 3? something) is this correct?
Is my best bet to wait for Android Pie update from Oneplus to get a better firmware/modem ?
thanks

Rolling back to stock ROM on OP5T

Hi there, I recently flashed a custom rom called "Ressurction Remix" and immediatly I missed the good ol' OxygenOS ROM.
what is the most stable OxygenOS build in terms of battery life that was available for the 5T? looking mostly for android Oreo, but Pie is good too.
I do want to revert back, but only for a stable build (not like Oxygen 10.0.0 that was terrible for battery and performance)
I'm also looking to perform a clean flash for my phone, any help will be appreciated
Thanks for answering

Question When will there be a custom rom for ANDROID 13?

I'm waiting!
Whenever you see the first sightings of AOSP A13 then we'll start to see custom roms, after that Lineage will build and then we'll likely see more roms as many use lineage base
soon
Any millennium now....
There is already a Evolution X alpha build of Android 13 for lemonades (works on both lemonadep [OnePlus 9 Pro] and lemonade [OnePlus 9]). With that being said, I do not recommend using it as your daily driver. We are likely not gonna see a relatively stable version of Android 13 for a few weeks or months at least. If you want get the link for the Evolution X Android 13 alpha then you can find it under their SourceForge.

doesn't work, alpha build is for OP9R only and not unified for OP9P

Thanks for confirming, previous builds on Android 12 were unified for our OnePlus 9 Pro. So it is a slightly confusing that they aren't for Android 13 yet. I guess if you give it a little bit, they should push a unified build for Android 13, as the device maintainer for us is actually one of the core dev team members that work the Evolution X source. Another thing that makes it rather likely that we will be getting it soon is that they are already starting to release Android 13 builds on certain devices like the K20 Pro/Mi 9T, albeit they aren't stable which is expected for such a new version.

yes, no need to be in such a hurry either, I bet Lineage will try an a13 version soon too, but unlikely to be stable for use soon, we are still polishing the a12 with our latest firmware

If the past is any indication, I don't think we'll see anything related to Lineage 20 show up in the LOS Gerrit until later this year or early next year. They're always a bit slower out of the gate with new Android releases, but that's usually to their advantage, as their initial releases are usually much more stable. Any Android 13 ROMs that come out now can definitely be categorized as "bleeding edge," and if you rely on your phone as a daily driver... well, I wouldn't trust them right now on mine. Best to wait out the initial teething period is my philosophy.
First LineageOS 19.1 Builds were relased at 26 april 2022, while android 12 debut was in october 2021. At least six months of wait...
Which means that it's likely we'll see the first LineageOS 20 builds some time in January or February 2023. Though, perhaps it won't take quite as much work as it did going from Android 11 to 12, since 13 is more of an iterative update than the substantial one that 11-->12 was. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
How about we work on the stability of custom A12 ROMs first? Remember, the ROMs can sometimes only be as good as their sources they come from.

Yeah, I don't know why people are in such a hurry to keep upgrading. For me, a fully rooted phone on A11 or A12 is all I need....

Never saw the need to move beyond OOS 11.2.10.10 and Magisk 23, especially after seeing the reactions to OOS 12. When OOS 13 comes out, I'll wait for a couple of months before deciding if I want it. My phone is not a toy.

In my honest opinion A13 has a better chance of being more stable the A12.1 roms as the transition from A11 to A12 was quite the jump but A13 isn't that large of an update and therefore hopefully after proper sources are released it shouldn't be all that bad. I do however think it would be a waste of time to build anything before OOS13 vendor comes out because it'd just be a hassle to rebase that soon
