I recently noticed that Tmobile is advertising the option of billing google market content purchases to a users mobile bill. Although I don't really want to do that, it did make me curious as to how it works. Trying to get it to work led me to a question... is there a tmobile specific version of the google market apk?
I am running cyanogen 7 with google market 3.3.11 and I definitely can not see an option to bill a market purchase to my tmobile bill. I only see the options to add to a credit card.
I found this screenshot of google market which shows the tmobile payment option: http://cdn.androidtapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/T-Mobile-Carrier-Billing-in-Android-Market.jpg My payment screen looks a lot like that, minus the tmobile options.
If there is a specific tmobile version of the market, If so, how often does that get updated versus the generic version?
I don't actually think that it is a different app, just a different payment method available on some carriers:
http://androidcommunity.com/att-direct-carrier-billing-now-available-in-the-android-market-20101222/
That's the question, how does the app know to present the user with the different payment methods? I am on the tmobile network, but the market app seems completely unaware of that.
Your gmail account is synced with the Market, and so is your telephone number. Hence the connection to your T-Mobile account. If you are on a contract and not behind on your payments, you can theoretically bill an app to your monthly statement. This has been option for a long time now. And no, there is no T-Mobile specific Market.

Your SIM has a lot to do with it as well. I believe the Market can tell which SIM card you are using, bringing up that Network's options.

I haven't seen this on my market yet. Looks interesting.

I'm asking me the same question some days before so I went to our T-Mobile Partner in the City. He told me, that I only can pay Apps with my T-Mobile bill, when I have a branded Device, because they modified the Android Market!
i can verify that this option was there since february. And it has worked on all my roms, but they have always been modded htc roms like glite...so dunno maybe it has more to do with the rom.

OK here is what they DONT TELL YOU!!
I called bell to ask if i have an NFC SIM. NO.
NO CANADIAN BELL USER HAS BEEN GIVEN AN NFC SIM WITH THEIR PHONE. YOU MUST GO TO BELL STORE TO GET A FREE SIM UPGRADE.
ALSO. the guy at bell said they have a notice from RBC telling users to go to:
http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/mobile/wallet/nfc-update/
and fill out the form, and an RBC agent will contact you and arrange a push update to your NFC SIM to enable RBC wallet to work.
I am running a SGS4 from bell running a 4.4.2 google edition rom (by danvdh), with build.prop edited back to my original model number from bell.
I just got back from the bell store and have my NFC sim installed. I have the new RBC app installed.
The new card option on first page of RBC app (seen in screenshots from RBC site) is not visible on my device.
I have filled out the form and am waiting for a call back, i imagine this push update will enable the missing button in RBC app.
will update with more information as it comes available.
ONE WEIRD THING...
since i installed my NFC SIM, my phone is telling me i have a voicemail that does not exist. wont go away.

Great. I have RBC and would love this feature but I have a Nexus 5 and am on Telus. I tried the market changer and also the app to change the model of the phone but it didn't work. I would love someone to hack this thing. Why do they restrict it to a specific device and a specific network?

security, and controlled release. and the network has to support NFC sim cards and supply them for free.
also even with network change and device ID change, you have to fill out the form and have RBC push an update to your NFC Sim sercure element.

Any updates on this? I have the NFC sim, RBC emailed me and said everything has been activated but the wallet menu doesn't appear in the app. I'm on a rooted GS4 with a custom 4.4 rom installed with bell. The only problem I can think of is my rom. After a month, can you update us on how things are going with this app?
really? just 2 posts up? working on rooted modded STOCK rom, could not get running on custom.
i know this is an old thread, seems like rbc took away the requirement to push an update to the sim, can the build prop be modded for a work around? thnaks
Just hearing of this, shame I'm on Telus and about to close my RBC account.
Hey guys- in poking around with my phone in the first 24 hour of ownership, I found that the software status says "modified", instead of "official". Stopped in the local vzw store that I bought it through, and they had nothing for me. Had me take my sd card out and restart. Stayed the same(surprise), so they emailed their own tech support and I havent heard from them since. I do have dev options showing, but I have also heard that some folks have official with dev options activated.
Anyone else have a "modified" software status? Any idea what could be modified?
Just checked mine, same thing. Modified. I do not have dev options active.

Definitely was a thought! Until I can find out what is modified, I dont really want to get another one.
Yeah probably Verizon changing it out of the box

I have a VS986 and it says "Official" under "Software Status."
Mine says modified. Any apps frozen/disabled? Wondered if that's what it was on my end.

Mine is the same way, Modified right from the get go.
I'm thinking that covers the basics of what we could have done without root. Modified sub forum! Lol
I have a TON of disabled apps and mine says "Official".
Pre Ordered and shipped from Verizon.
Mine also says Official. Maybe we can start looking into differences here..Does anyone that says modified have screen tapping issues? Or any other issue?
Its a reach..I know.
Mine says Official (blue from Best Buy )
Mark me down as modified. Metallic gray prettier preordered from Best Buy... haven't even activated it yet, but have disabled all the Verizon bloat.
Edit...I do have Developer Options enabled.
Apps disabled...

My Verizon Mobile
NFL Mobile

Verizon Location Agent
Verizon Login
VZ Navigator
Best Buy pre order and mine says official
I would try a factory reset if it says modified
Modified here. Software version 10B, Build LMY47D. Phone was shipped directly from VZW.

I would say that I may have screen tapping issues(modified). Its enough to notice, but it will always work on the second tap. I dont know if its me fat fingering the thing.
Since Google is out of stock, I thought I'd buy the Verizon one unless it has bloatware.
Depends on your definition of bloatware. My verizon is installed from the factory but can be uninstalled. no NFL mobile or any of that other garbage that was huge and couldnt be uninstalled without root.
no bloatware that i can't uninstall, i use verizon messages and the myveizon app. Just hope that it doesnt come with 7.1.1
Verizon version comes with 3 apps and all can be uninstalled if you wish. Other than the locked bootloader it's not really different than the Google version.
I'm using esim on my p6p and i never installed a sim card in it so why do I keep getting this notification?
Did you check out what the Device Unlock app had to say?
I can't find that app plus the device isn't unlocked, I'm still paying it off through TMobile and using it on TMobile esim
What does clicking on the notification do? Have you tried contacting T-Mobile about the issue?
Clicking it does nothing, haven't contacted TMobile yet. I didn't have this issue till I updated to 12L beta so idk if that has anything to do with it

Could be, and since 12L Beta 3 wouldn't be considered "supported" since it isn't stable, they probably couldn't help anyway. I didn't know you were on 12L at all. That's an important detail.

The T-Mobile Device unlock app (GOOGLE PIXEL ONLY) is available in the Google Play Store:
T-Mobile Device Unlock (Google - Apps on Google Play
Request a Mobile Device Unlock from T-Mobile without calling Customer Service
play.google.com
It should work on your device,as it does on mine w/Android 13 installed.
Mine is unlocked,so,I'm not sure what kind of messaging/code it will give you, guessing something related to the unlocked/still financed state of your phone.
FYI,if you're considering the temporary unlock option for B/L unlock status,I'm certain this is not sufficient for doing so.
If your main objective is to just simply make the notification go away permanently,IDK if there's anything accessible in Android 12L's settings for notifications to disable it.
Try long pressing on the notification,it may expand to present an option to silence this particular notification.
Also,is your phone otherwise working w/the e-SIM?
It appears so,as I see the LTE icon in your status bar........
