Hi All,
Some of you already helped me about the Redmi Note 8 but I have an issue that can be translated to any xiaomi phone:
I had a working recovery (TWRP) and Android system on a Redmi 6.
I decided inside TWRP to flash with another more recent recovery from TWRP (flash on the recovery partition the *.img file)
I rebooted (still inside the recovery ) to the recovery again (could it be my error ?).
But now the phone is stuck in a "nowhere state", the screen is black, impossible to go neither in recovery NOR in fastboot. It just vibrates every 10 seconds...
I tried many manipulations with power vol+ vol- etc. but nothing works..... still black and one vibration every 10 sec...
I'm desperate cause for me the worst case scenario that i manage consists in booting in fastboot and flash original complete signed xiaomi image and start from stratch, but today, I really cannot go into fastboot....
Someone has a trick for me?

IS the android recovery menu stored in the bootloader?
Does the bootloader corresponds to the file boot.img on SP FLASH TOOL?
I have an alcatel 7047 xpop c9 (with MT6582M processor) . It power on and automatically goes to android recovery menu and there is no way to let it exit from this mode or to power off because the battery is not removable.
It seems that the problem appeared during an upgrade, because the battery discharged during the process.
Today i tried to use SP FLASH TOOL version 5 in order to write the flash, included preloader, boot, recovery etc., by using a backup for this phone found on internet. After flashing everything i tried to reboot the phone but each time the same menu is shown.
Question: does the boot.img file overwrites the bootloader? How could I understand what is the problem? Could I enable some print or log, even remote logging, in order to better understand what is going wrong?
Yesterday i also tried the upgrade tool from alcatel website (it reloads all the original files but the result is the same).
EDIT: i was able to open the case, remove the battery and replug it, but the problem is still the same: Reconnecting the battery and powering the phone, it automatically goes in the recovery menu.
Wow
Wow, no reply. Is it there someone hereeeeeeeee?

Just discovered your post. Have you solved the issue?
First of all, the recovery image is not stored in the bootloader...whatever you meant by that. It is stored in the recovery partition. The boot.img is NOT the bootloader. It is the kernel. And it is stored in the boot partition. Those questions simply sound like you are trying to figure out why your phone is booting into recovery. Even after you have restored the STOCK ROM using Alcatel's Mobile Upgrade S.
My first thought was that you have no system image or that your custpack partition is corrupted. But those issues would lead to a boot loop or you would just hang on the boot logo and not move forward. Plus you restored the stock ROM. So that's really strange that you're booting only into recovery each time.
However what is more likely is that you are not starting your phone correctly. I once had a lady with the exact same issue. Her phone developed this strange problem where it would only boot into recovery. Her phone was completely stock. She never did anything with her phone except use it like a non-techie would use their phone. She didn't even know what recovery meant. All she knew was this strange menu always appeared when she started her phone.
BUT, when I booted her phone...guess what? It booted up just fine! But with her, her phone would always boot into recovery. You know why? I watched her boot her phone. She had developed a new habit every time she started her phone of inadvertently applying pressure on the Volume UP button while she was turning on her phone...because it was on the opposite side of the phone from the power button.
It's really weird that the problem persists even after you flashed back to stock. If that's the case, my only other guess is that your motherboard is damaged, or perhaps it's not you who is holding down the vol+ button...maybe it's just stuck.
Hi, I am trying to flash TWRP onto a Redmi 1s bought ~2years ago in China (actual physical shop inland ).
I followed the tutorial:
1. updated to the newest MIUI available (I wanted to get the newest firmware)
2. reboot
3. downloaded adb (I've tried everything on linux), newest TWRP, newest CM (for the Redmi 1s)
4. accessed Developer options on the phone and enable USB debugging
5. attached the USB cable, approved on the phone
6. rebooted into fastboot
7. flashed the recovery (TWRP)
8. rebooted & hold the combination for recovery -> the phone however booted directly to MIUI
9. after shutdown the recovery was still the original/MIUI
I've tried again.. few times, no luck.
* I rechecked if I could get into original recovery mode with the key-combo -> I could, however only when I was trying it from a normal reboot/shutdown.
* I have yet to check if I can get into recovery after the restart from fastboot and without flashing anything.
Any ideas how to get it working? Did I do any newbie mistake?
Thank you!

My phone was running omnirom beta 5 for 2 months, was rooted with magisk (patched_boot flashed in ramdisk_recovery partition)
The bluetooth wasn't working so I wanted to install phhusson aosp 9
So I flashed emui 8 stock recovery then tried to flash phhusson aosp 9 as a system image in fastboot
Now, when the phone boot, it shut down instantly then boot into erecovery without the ability to factory reset or wipe cache (the only thing I can do is "reboot", "shutdown" and "download latest version and erecovery")
What's working and what's not:
access to erecovery (with ability to wipe cache and factory reset) when the phone is powered off then I press power & vol +
can't access twrp (even if the flash on recovery_ramdisk succeed with fastboot )
access to fastboot mode
access to erecovery (without the ability to wipe, only "download latest and erecovery) when the phone try to boot
access to dload installation
Here's my tries to fix the issue:
after installing emui 9 through fastboot: honor boot animation for 30-40s then bootloop
after installing emui 5 or 8 through fastboot: boot into error mode which displays this: (I can't flash ramdisk or boot (error: partition length get error))
ERROR MODE
Attention!
Please update system again
Error!
Func NO : 10 (boot image)
Error NO : 2 (load failed)

dload installation don't work, even with service rom
tried installing phhusson aosp 9 and omnirom beta 5: boot into rescue mode error
huawei multi tool failed
hwoat failed (I can't reboot into twrp)
erecovery "download latest version and erecovery" failed
My thoughts are that my BOOT is broken, but since I can't flash a new one, I don't know what to do.

I had the same error "error: partition length get error" with my BND-L24. What I did, I found the stock rom from the firmware finder application. Unloaded the boot.img and flashed it without any issues.
I used the guide in the OpenKirin webpage to find the correct rom (you can check the info of your phone using fastboot commands or download multitool and read the phone info there) and to extract the .img files (go to Openkirin webpage and press support for the guides).
Good luck!
i, I have an issue with my phone and would need your help in recovering it back to life.
I have rebranded mate SE to Indian version few months back. so far so good. I have unlocked bootloader and started playing with it by downgrading etc.
the current situation is the phone is bricked with a android pie erecovery and no boot. tried using all the roms visiting various threads here with no luck (including service rom, multi-tool flashing etc)
multi-tool says Orio version 8.0.0.375. I am not able to flash any Oreo images since multitool says partition mismatch (boot, recovery etc) but when I flash 9.0.XX versions or Nougat versions, system is flashed successfully, yet, boot loops and back to latest erecovery.
don't have twrp (despite multitool flashing is successful) all I get is phone boots only to erecovery (latest)
unable to flash any stock recovery or kernels - as multitools says, partition mismatch.
I tried above method of boot.img flashing but multitool says partition error. tried various boot.img (EMUI 5 / 8 / 9) with no luck.
any help? suggestions?
I had a similar issue the last two days. The only thing that worked was rebooting to fastboot. I tried to get back to Oreo but used a method, that bricked my phone since it flashed an older kernel.img. I got it back running by detecting the version of the bootloader with Multitool and fastboot-flashing recovery, kernel and system that have been aligned with that version.
Be aware: You will have two recovery partitions:
- Huawei has renamed the partitions from "recovery"/"recovery2" to "recovery_ramdisk"/""erecovery_ramdisk"
- unlocking the bootloader does only let you flash recovery_ramdisk
- if you boot into recovery (Pwr & Vol+), the image from erecovery_ramdisk gets loaded
- To boot into recovery you are able to flash, it requires three buttons to be pressed (Pwr & Vol+ & Vol-)
- To flash erecovery_ramdisk, you have to flash TWRP into recovery_ramdisk and from there you can install an image into erecovery_ramdisk.
After having flashed back everything to 9.1.0.162, it was possible to format damaged /data and to setup the device via erecovery and WIFI.
Hi there,
I think I (soft? hard?) bricked my whyred today after trying to install Pixel Experience (Android 10). At this time, I'm left with a flashed PE Plus that is stuck at the Google logo animation (e.g. unable to access USB debug settings); stock MIUI recovery; and fastboot, which is not recognized by ADB as I haven't had a successful boot since I flashed PE, so I can't turn USB debug on. I think I've exhausted my options, but maybe someone has a smart solution.
For those who think they can help, let me describe in detail what I did:
0) I became a dev, turned USB debug on, installed Minimal ADB and Fastboot, latest Xiaomi drivers, moved flashable zips into internal storage etc.
1) I unlocked my bootloader through Mi Unlock.
2) I successfully flashed TWRP-3.3.1.0-whyred via ADB/Fastboot and rebooted. After getting back into MIUI, I booted into recovery, which was back to stock (MIUI seems to have overwritten my recovery). At that point (probably a big mistake) I gave up on flashing TWRP and went ahead to boot right into it via ADB instead, without flashing.
3) After a successful boot into TWRP 3.3.1.0, it asked me for a decryption password. Nothing worked, so I kept googling and found out that my version of android needs TWRP 3.3.1.1, which was not on the official TWRP website yet, to decrypt automatically. I booted into TWRP 3.3.1.1 via ADB (but didn't flash), made a backup of my stock ROM, did a wipe (art/dalvik cache, cache, data, system, vendor), flashed Pixel Experience and rebooted.
4) Bootloop, I was stuck on the Google loading animation for over 20 minutes, nothing happened.
5) I panicked.
6) I tried to flash TWRP 3.3.1.1 via ABD but my PC didn't recognize my phone - probably because, for lack of successful boots, I have not managed to turn on USB debug.
7) I tried to connect to Mi Assistant through stock recovery. It didn't recognize my phone, probably for the above reason.
8) I did a data wipe through stock recovery and rebooted, hoping for whatever issue kept PE from booting normally to get resolved.
9) I'm stuck on the same Google loading animation for over 40 minutes now, no progress.
Does any of you guys see a way out, or is this story over? To recap, I have: 1) PE Plus in bootloop, no access to dev settings, 2) stock MIUI recovery with options to reboot, wipe data or connect to Mi Assistant, 3) stock fastboot, 4) a backup of my previous system on internal storage, 5) ADB on my computer that doesn't recognize my phone - no USB debugging. I don't know where to turn. I don't care much about data, I have everything in the cloud, but I'd like to save the phone if possible.
Thanks a lot.
Edit: Problem resolved - even though the connected device didn't show up in ADB on PC (adb devices came back empty), the phone was still responsive to fastboot reboot and fastboot flash recovery via PC, so I could flash TWRP 3.3.1.1 & clean flash PE. For anyone struggling with PE bootloops: make sure to 1) use TWRP 3.3.1.1 to flash, 2) do a dalvik/cache wipe after flashing the ROM and 3) not to install the TWRP app before the first successful boot - it was neglecting either 2) or 3) that caused my bootloop. The ROM itself is amazing!

I'm new to this phone as well (but not to Android). Try the following:
Download TWRP from here -> https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117884758
Download Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip from here -> https://zackptg5.com/downloads/Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip
Power off phone. Hold down volume down and power button to boot into fastboot
Give the command fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-1-whyred.img to flash the recovery you downloaded earlier.
Boot into recovery
Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip that you downloaded earlier
The above steps will at least ensure that you retain TWRP and it doesn't get overwritten by stock MIUI recovery
After that, check whether or not your phone/ROM has anti-rollback enabled and take appropriate steps accordingly.
Ok so i flashed PE 10 plus today and was met with the same problem.
Heres how i solved it
Goto fastboot option by pressing volume down and power button
Connect to pc (If it doesnt recognize, reinstall Adb drivers and phone drivers)
If it asks for decryption password just press cancel
Wipe data/internal/vendor (wont be able to wipe dalvik as it wont mount)
Flash PE 10 Plus and nothing else.
It should boot just fine.
However i run into bootloop if i flash latest magisk so i cant root my phone :/
Hope this helps

hey read your post
actually adb and fastboot are two different things.
and recovery is flashed using fastboot commands not adb.
sometimes if a rom is not booting it may have issues with encryption.
Hello There,
I have Redmi Note 5 Pro with unlocked bootloader. But unable to root it no matter what.
Let Me Explain The Situation.
1. After flashing TWRP, it asks for "decryption password" which is nowhere to be found on internet. But in order to decrypt it i had to format the phone. GOOD Now Storage is Detected in TWRP.
2. But if i boot phone in System and again boot it in Recovery then TWRP is replaced with Stock Recovery.
1 & 2 are in INFINITE LOOP now.
3. So OTG...... OTG is not even recognizing by TWRP, but OS is detecting it.
4. TWRP "Enable MTP" also not working.
So Let Me Know If I am Forgetting Something.
Please Help Me To Root IT.
PS : I have past experience of Rooting/ Flashing rom / Unlocking Bootloader etc.
I guess the main problem you're having is that your phone keeps replacing TWRP with the stock recovery once you boot into system. I've had same problem on different devices. To prevent this from happening you should not boot into system immediately after flashing twrp, rather you should boot directly into twrp recovery (try "fastboot boot recovery.img" command after flashing twrp - I'm assuming that your twrp img is saved as "recovery.img") and flash Magisk before booting into system. By flashing Magisk before booting into system your phone would no longer replace twrp, and then your phone would be rooted as well. At least that worked for me.
And also use orangefox rather than twrp on this phone
