Three questions regarding TWRP, Dr Keaten Image and TB - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

As already written above, I would have three questions about my rooted 10+ and get started right away:
1. Is it normal that the TWRP mode only has a charging cable on the PC
can be called?
2. I would like to save my PhilipsHue settings with TB. No error message is displayed, but nothing changes when I restore the
data. Can someone of you help me there?
3. First of all, many thanks to Dt. Ketan for the great image.
How do you get the original percentage display back in the status bar? That's the only thing that bothers me a little.

A1. Yes, since A11 bootloader update.
A2. Sorry. Yeelight with Swift Backup restores fine.
A3. Cannot help, use Nobody's Rom.

Flashing back to stock

Hello, I am currently on PureNexus Rom with twrp 3.0.2RC1 on the pixel xl. I would like to flash back to completely stock because I am having some issues. I found a step by step tutorial but am apprehensive because some steps confuse me. I already got into trouble once when trying to flash PN rom. I don't want to do anything stupid like use a wrong file or anything like that. Is there anyone that could assist me if I run into issues. Also, I have just created a backup but if I flash to stock and run into trouble, I wouldn't be able to restore my backup, would i?? I would think flashing stock removes twrp Which I would need to restore a backup and think i would have a vendor image issue, right?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
What issues do you have?
Maybe no need to flash stock.
I myself flash back to stock every 6 month just to clean things up even it is not necessary.
I pm you my infos
Stock
Dl titanium backup all your apps
Backup that folder to pc
Backup everything else you need back to pc
You need latest Google drivers for flashing stock.
Check out unified Android toolkit helps me get back to stock very easily

Thanks for the replies. I was having a issue with battery drain. My text messages, if not looked at, would repeatedly wake up the screen every minute. In the course of about 5 hours, Android operating system would chew through 38% battery. I did a factory reset and reinstalled PN and the issue appears to be corrected. Don't know what was causing it, tried to isolate the issue but could not find. So, for now, i will stay on this rom as long as the issue doesn't reappear. I think somehow ambient display was messed up even though it was off.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Ok if the issue comes back maybe you can try a different rom.

Bootloop, how to download stock for TWRP

Hello, I recently tried to root my device, I succeed in doing so but it was systemless root, I didn't know anything at the time so I tried different versions of supersu, now my phone won't boot, only fastboot and recovery works,
I visited a thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
but I don't know which one is my stock and I'm afraid to mess it up even more,
image uploaderG]
Can you please advise me how to recover my basic stock system :F
I remember that my installed android before it stopped working was 6.01 afaik
Your Stock is 6.12.111.4
option 1:
TWRP backup - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
on post #3
Make sure to use TWRP 3.x.x.x not your current one as it seems you use the outdated version.
option 2 :
RUU - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24399965296001026
follow this guide but use the above RUU - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
Thank you, my TWRP is the latest one now because my system sort of worked when I first rooted it but when I noticed that it's systemless I tried to flash system one and my phone didn't work as intended (couldn't download things on it and some other things didn't work) that's when I flashed newest twrp and newest super su and factory reset stopped working as of now and it's stuck on bootloop. Downloading that recovery, wish me luck .
Edit: it works now, thanks
One additional issue arose - my folders seem to be really wrecked, can't download anything from updates to system apps to downloading apps from playstore and even downloading apps regularly, when I made sd card my internal card I was able to download opera and wanted to select default download folder but couldn't pick any/make any and the folders were not recognizable for me (no data folder for example)
edit 2: I probably fuked up permissions too last time, fix context in twrp seems to have fixed the issue

Couple words to the wise:
1) Always state exact versions numbers (TWRP, SuperSU, etc.) instead of just saying it the "latest". I've seen a lot of cases, where folks ensure us they are on the "latest" and it turns out when prompted for the actual version number, they are using something from 2 years ago!
In general when posting here, it's always best to give as much detail and specific info as possible. Vague descriptions, lack of details, and assumptions are always going to hinder more than help.
2) Always make a TWRP backup of your stock ROM before doing any mods like root or custom ROM. As you now see why, things don't always go as intended. Luckily, ckpv5 maintains a collection of stock backups. But you should already know how to revert to stock and be equipped to do so, before doing the mods. Not waiting for that "panic" moment when you need it, and can't figure it out.
I'm surprised how many folks here jump into rooting, flashing custom ROMs without leaving themselves an "escape plan" of knowing how to get back to stock. Maybe it's just my personality, but I can't fathom doing any of these things without knowing beforehand how to fix them, restore stock, etc.
Thanks for advice, to be honest 3 days ago I didn't know what rooting was and searched for "root htc one m8" and got it done by a site from 2014 with a multitool that had outdated soft. What I lacked then was big red uppercase notice how to do backup because most first time rootings end up badly.

Yeah, completely understand if you are new to this; and we all had to start somewhere, at some time. Consider it lessons learned for next time.
A lot of folks skip the step of making a backup (before root, etc.). And also a lot of guides, YouTube tutorials, etc. neglect this step (which is something I cannot understand). So it's an honest mistake, and I'm definitely not saying that it's your fault that it wasn't done.

Bluetooth App Missing, Random Reboots, Deleted System Partition, No ROM in Storage

I've also posted this on Reddit and the OnePlus forums, but I'm hoping I can find an answer here, too.
Long story short: I really messed up my phone and I'm looking for help getting it to at least boot into the system. Lots of weird, confusing things have happened within the past few days, so bear with me; might be a long story, but I'll try to give you the abridged version.
I run locked and unrooted. I flashed OOS Beta 3 over 4.7.6 on my 5T, wiped my cache, and everything was wonderful for a week. Then one day, I got a system message saying "Bluetooth has stopped". I cleared that and thought nothing of it, but I got another message saying "Bluetooth keeps stopping". This message would actually pop up (with no exaggeration) every second. I could only stop the messages completely after going to the Bluetooth app and clearing the data, then disabling Bluetooth Scanning.
I figured the problem would fix itself, but the next day when I tried to connect to my car via Bluetooth, my phone would freak out again like the previous day. I had to listen to a CD like it was 1996. I thought I could fix the problem with a Factory Reset. As soon as I hit the Welcome screen, "Bluetooth has stopped". When I went to check the Storage section of the Bluetooth app in the Applications list, the app portion read 0 bytes. What? Even when I went into Settings --> Bluetooth and tried to turn it on, nothing would happen. I thought maybe I should revert back to 4.7.4 and start from the very beginning.
That served no purpose. The Bluetooth symbol did show temporarily in the Status bar as I was setting up my phone, but eventually disappeared, with the Bluetooth app once again taking up a whopping 0 bytes. I've done various combinations of installs, but I cannot get Bluetooth to function normally. And at some point, my phone developed a new problem: any time I hit the Bluetooth button in Quick Settings, the phone would eventually reboot on its own. Later, it wouldn't need any input from me at all. It would just be sitting in the Lock screen and reboot.
Icing on the cake: I got desperate, unlocked the bootloader, deleted the system and cache partition in fastboot, then wiped the data in Recovery with the hope that doing a completely fresh install would fix the problem, but at some point my internal storage got wiped and now I have no ROM on my phone to install. Even better: I'm having some real problems trying to install OOS (any version) on my phone via ADB sideload. I keep getting the message "cannot read <filename.zip>", even though it's in the correct folder.
I am currently back on my OnePlus 3 and the proud owner of a very sleek brick. I used to root and unlock Nexus devices and Moto X's, so I'm pretty embarrassed that I managed to ruin my phone while it was running (basically) all stock. It can still boot into Bootloader and stock Recovery. Is there anything at all that I can do to at least load OOS (or any ROM)? Do I have to send it back to OnePlus and beg for a replacement? Will they even take this phone in it's current state? Am I just SOL?
I've run out of ideas and patience. I'm really hoping someone out there can help me. At the very least, thanks for reading my long sob story. Hopefully this never happens to you.
try flash orero based twrp and flahs stock 5.0.3 zip in twrp, see if it works. then figure out the reset.
Why would you delete system from fastboot? Does people not formating partition from recovery more often?
The twrp I use
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-8-0-8-1-t3729673
Update: I managed to unbrick my phone using an unbrick tool. The process was pretty painless and it will revert your 5T back to OOS 4.7.4 no matter what you did to it. Props to Drasm19 from the OnePlus forums and the geniuses behind this tool! Funnily enough, I was ultimately led back here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012
You guys more than likely already knew about this tool, but definitely keep this in mind if you manage to brick your phone like I did.
Now I'm back to my original problem: Bluetooth is really messed up. This is what I'm talking about:
https://imgur.com/gallery/eEkbX
No matter what I do, no matter how many times I flash any version of OOS, this is always the result. As you can see, even with the toggle in the "on" position, Bluetooth refuses to do what it's supposed to do and the app takes up 0 bytes. Something is up...
I've searched a lot of threads that reference Bluetooth issues, but it looks like I'm the only one with this problem. I'm open to any and all suggestions that'll help me solve this and get back to using my 5T. I already miss those awesome navigation gestures.
Thanks again for your time and help.
im not really a developer type, but a while back it was easy to root and un root with kingo. and i could put things in the system with FX. please bare with me a sec.. p9's i like, but getting some glitches. when the gboard went byby, on reset, i had to set up my welcome screen by shouting at the phone.. 'at sign' does give you @ but to get capitals you have to trick it, eg. 'USA' to get an upper case 'u'
anyway, i got in, and got gboard from 'my apps' ..fine but of course, wont survive another reset.
so about the missing bluetooth.. iv got the directory info. and the missing files. thanks ..but i didnt want to wipe the phone, it seems rooting has become a can of worms.
wouldnt it be nice if there was a nice (no root) app , to run bluetooth from the apps ? so that 'joe blow' doesnt have to throw his phone away, cos it doesnt work in the car ect.. thanks

Bluetooth problem after flashing TWRP

Hi,
I flashed TWRP on my unlocked Redmi Note 8T with MIUI Global 12.5.5. Everything was great until I rebooted it and saw Bluetooth error which pops every time I try to turn Bluetooth on or just randomly during usage of the device. I also tried to re-flas TWRP with Orange fox but it unfortunatelly did not help. Now I have no idea what to do but there are also some other people with this problem (for example:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/y9zsak
).
Does anybody know any solution? Thanks!
Btw Orange fox is for ginko devices, I did not find version for willow
I had the exact same problem when I tried to root my stock rom in ginkgo. I was getting a lot of "app keeps stopping" pop ups, and that also included bt. My bt was completely broken until I changed rom. Also I'm guessing this had happened when I had rooted my phone with magisk, not by flashing recovery itself. Perhaps you could try to uninstall magsik, and see it it resolves the issue for you. If that would be the case, then you would have found your problem, and maybe you can flash a custom rom to safely root your phone.
Thanks for reply, but i did not have magisk flashed on my phone. I only had installed the app, prepared apk file and did nothing in TWRP (Orange fox) , just flashed a recovery with my PC, checked that it is working and rebooted device. Anyway I tried to do it only because of acces to NFC and Gpay which is now blocked.
As you also said, I would like to try custom rom (like LineageOS) because it seems like bad idea to have a stock room on an unlocked phone. Only the problem is how to backup data like data from apps, games etc.
So now it tried one of my ideas, which was to install Magisk (root) and uninstall it but it also did not help (I expected that)

To backup data simply copy your personal files in pc or sdcard. And to backup data in apps, take back-up of only those apps and where you need to backup. Don't take a complete backup using some app. That consumes a lot of space and make the newly rom feel "not so new". Most apps don't require you to take back-up offline these days. I usually backup only my personal files before flashing rom.
Yeah, that's true. But don't you know how to backup data from these "offline" apps? I was trying to solve this also before unpocking bootloader like a year ago but unsuccessfuly.
Also, which rom should I choose? I'm deciding between LineageOS and Pixel experience.
So I have LOS installed but I can´t install other zip files (like Google apps). Im only getting error: signature verification failed while. Im using LOS recovery so where is the problem?
Solved it!
Hey @vasik006 ! I know this is very late and you might have found the solution yourself, but I found the solution to this problem. Since yesterday I was trying to root my ginkgo with twrp, using magisk delta and had exact same issue. Joyose and bluetooth keeps stopping, and don't work. Simply factory reset ( I also formatted data) in twrp, and in next boot bluetooth should work. Then you can simply install the magisk apk and let it do its thing. No need to flash again since it has already made changes to boot file that can't be overriden by resetting phone.
Thanks, this might help someone else with this problem. I have already formatted my phone, installed Lineage OS and everything is ok
For me, the problem with BT and Joyose occurs only with TWRP v3.7.x. I went back to TWRP v3.6.1_9-0 but now backups are not working.

TWRP is invaluable for backing up the system before making changes like theming etc. and I can take a TWRP backup to any of my (all the same) devices and restore the whole thing in just a few minutes. So convenient! I really couldn't imagine life without TWRP. TWRP enables me to clone my device in case of hardware failure. All my settings and all my apps and all my custom configurations which would otherwise take hours/days to setup - BAM! Presto! on the new device and running perfectly.
TWRP + NeoBackup are essential. TWRP as described, and NeoBackup to roll back breaking updates to apps when devs butcher them, break them, and/or just remove really useful features. I also disconnect apps that get ruined by an update from the Play Store so they don't keep coming up when I check for updates.

I would advise you to read the posts again. They were asking about how to take backup of "personal apps" which twrp can't do, and if they are changing ROM then twrp backup won't be of any use to them. Therefore, whatever you're trying to tell here doesn't really help the discussion.

TWRP does backup personal apps and their settings. Once you restore a TWRP backup, you have everything back except media files - images, videos, documents, etc. The launcher icons, the apps, the system settings - everything is a perfect clone which you can restore on a new device (same model, of course).
I actually came across this thread searching to see if others had a problem where merely flashing TWRP caused Bluetooth to crash (and Atmos).
Use OrangeFox
is there anyone use BT-fix-for-PE-20190618.zip to fix this problem ?
I'm on an ROG Phone II with the same issue.
The "fix" is to wipe in TWRP and install Magisk BEFORE you leave for your first boot and NEVER come back to TWRP as the issue will return the second recovery is booted.

From what I can tell, this is correct. 3.6_XX-X allows me to come and go from TWRP as much as I please without incurring the bug, however, I haven't tested backup though I can't see a reason why they wouldn't work.
Are these existing backups that aren't working or the whole backup function in general?

It seems to be a twrp issue. What version do you have? And what version of magisk do you have?
I have recently flashed miui 12 (android 10) after bricking the phone using qtel. I noticed the Bluetooth problem last week and didn't find a fix. I have twrp 3.6.2 and magisk 25.1. I had twrp 3.7.1 but if failed to decrypt data using pattern so I rolled back to 3.6.2. And I thought that magisk had to do with the Bluetooth problem so I rolled back to 25.1 from 26.
I still can't use the Bluetooth, and I don't have time to reset the phone, I just finished restoring everything
I CAN CONFIRM
go back to the previous twrp 3.6.2 version + wipe factory reset or simply format data solve sucesfuly solve installation issue of Magisk 26.1 or Magisk Delta 25210

I can't afford resetting my phone right now , don't have enough time. I'll let it like that for some months.
Edit : I have miui 12.0.6 installed (android 10) and I'm not planning to upgrade since I have much better battery life (even better than every mod I tried). I wander if I flash miui rom from recovery can fix it?
Edit 2: flashing the rom from recovery didn't fix it

Question How can I recover data from device stuck on starting page?(PE+ ROM)

Recently I dirty flashed PE+ ROM into my moto g40 fusion in a hurry without looking at the developer instructions(which clearly says I should clean flash). So ,now my phone is stuck on starting screen with a faded Google logo.I did not even take any backup(Silly Me)!
But somehow I am able to turn on flashlight by long pressing lock button(It was previously set ). I even hear alarms. I think That means phone is awake but for some reason the display is just a grey Google logo
How to fix this?What should I do?‍
I think performing a factory reset might boot the device. But Can I somehow recover the data?
@arsradu Can you please help me out?

Hello,
I don't have the phone anymore. So this is general info.
For as far as I know, you can't recover the data. However, Google does automatical backups at regular intervals, if you let it. So...chances are you might already have a backup. You could try to use it after factory resetting your phone.
Something else you could try...is flashing back the older version you had on top of this one. Maybe it will let you boot into it successfully so you can get access to your data. After that, I would suggest taking a backup, if you don't have one already.
And if you want the newer version again, make sure you follow the instructions given by the developer and see if that works.
I'm not aware of any other way.
Yeah, it could be that the phone is alive, but...if you can't interact with it...it doesn't help.
Thank you arsradu for replying..

I knew you don't have the phone anymore.I read that in the conversations. But I was kinda desperate. So, Sorry that I bothered you.
I hadn't allowed Google to backup my data except for photos and videos.
Flashing the older version of the rom on top of it was the first thing I tried,But the PE Recovery said the data was corrupted , didn't let me to boot into it and it wanted me to factory reset ‍. So in the hope of keeping the data I reflashed the same rom.
But, the exact same advice from you today gave me an idea.I know the data is intact in the device, If I somehow can backup this ,I might restore it in a clean flashed rom!
So I went through other XDA threads, watched some YouTube videos.
Then I boot it into twrp(again, thanks to your tutorial) took a backup of only data, wiped everything, flashed the previous version and restored the backup. And now I am writing from my own device🥹🥹.
But the problem is partially solved.I lost some important files from internal storage (as expected) .When I tap, I cannot open important settings options like individual app info, developer options, restore and backup etc .I can't swipe down the quick settings menu. When I try to toggle night light the display is just getting dark altogether.

Glad you managed to find a way! Good job!
My suggestion would be to make a backup, while you still can, and do a clean installation of the rom.
