Enabling Atmos Flag on Philips TV - Philips, Sony, TCL Android TV

I've got a 55POS9002 with the latest Android8 on it. I wanted to ask if it's possible to somehow tick an internal Atmos flag in the system so apps like Netflix and Disney Plus can output Atmos in DD+. Kodi does output Atmos in DD+ if I select it but these apps just won't because the TV isn't officially supporting Atmos.

TCL 50EP680 5.1 sound problems on Home Theater receiver

Hello everybody,
I'm new on XDA forum, I explain you my problem.
My home theater receiver works fine (5.1 sounds) when :
- I look TV channels
- I use the TCL multimedia centrer (dlna), but this player crashes frequently it's unusefull
But when using android apps, I get a 2.0 sound on my receiver.
Has somebody tried Android apps like Plex, Kodi, Youtube, DS Station, .... and could hear 5.1 sounds on a his home theater receiver ?
Different ROM versions tested :
- RT51_Android P_V252 Software => NOT OK
- RT51_Android P_V270 Software => ?
- RT51_Android P_V288 Software => NOT OK
Thanks,
I have got an 65ep660 , and exactly the same problem,
Only the tcl mediacenter app and netflix are ok about 5.1 passthrough output spdif.
I tried all the firmwares, all kodi 's versions, no one solution...
Shame on you Tcl, it s the same problem with all ep680, ep640 series
The only Way is a Xiaomi mi box on hdmi input......
Have anyone tested the V270 Brazilian version (root version) ?
Change the transmitter
Also have this problem. 288. IPTV crashes the player. After some investigation it looks like TCL doesn’t use Exoplayer but one of their own.
Tried every possible IPTV app, all of them makes it crash the tv or when it works only have sounds or image stutters

Thank's. The TCL application is named "com.tcl..ui_MediaCenter".
I've been trying to solve the same problem. So annoying...
The best progress I did was installing Nova Player. It has a mode for passthrough that correctly send DD and DTS to my receiver if I set the TV (50ep640) to PCM on the audio output setting. Mode 1 is the one that works.
I don't know if Kodi or Mx player could support the same.
On Nova Video Player, two audio passthrough modes are supported:
Mode 1 (almost deprecated) targets TV boxes with early versions of Android (up to Kitkat 4.4). Note that on some devices you need to set the sound volume to maximum (so that the streams are not altered by the sound mixer). This mode does a software SPDIF encapsulation with ffmpeg .
Mode 2 targets latest versions of Android above 5.1 (Nvidia Shield TV and Android TVs) using official Android framework support.

Thank's. I've tried Nova Player with its 2 modes but it doesn't work at home.
Mode 1 => Video OK, sound looks like a machine gun
Mode 2 => Video freezes, no sound
I've tried these 2 options with the audio TV setting on PCM, auto, Passthrough.

Equalizer for Fire TV

I have Poweramp Equalizer install on my device. Managed to give it the extra permissions for advanced player tracking. Unfortunately, it doesn’t pick up some streaming apps like Disney+.
Is there a way to get all apps to play nice or is this a dead end? If not, any other app that I can get to work correctly?
It seems like Amazon’s apps know not to overcook the low end but for some reason all 3rd party apps have what sounds like artificially boosted lows. Was streaming a replay of F1 FP2 on Disney+ and realized abnormal amounts of low end.
Setup:
2nd Gen Fire TV Cube
2 Echo Studios
1 Echo Sub
p.s They are in a “Home Theatre” group.
Hey man!
How did you manage to download Poweramp Equalizer on your fire tv stick?
I have the 4k version and it won't download since the app supports android 9+ and the fire stick is android 7.

Amazon Fire Cube does not forward dolby sound signal to soundbar

Hi,
my setup is currently like this:
Code:
+----- NAS -----+
| |
| |
Samsung Samsung Amazon
Soundbar ----- TV -------- Cube
Now, if I access my NAS from my TV, a Dolby 5.1 movie is played perfectly on my soundbar and everything works perfectly. But if I do stream a movie from my Amazon Cube (i.e. from the NAS to the Cube, then TV), I only get stereo sound on my soundbar (rear speakers are not working). So somehow the audio signal is not passed on from the cube to the TV / soundbar. I read somewhere that the VLC player (which I usually use) has trouble with that - but it doesn't work with Kodi (latest version) either. I've already looked in the Kodi settings, there is also a "forwarding" of the audio signal, but that doesn't work either.
Unfortunately "so just stream via the TV" is not possible because my TV cannot handle some movie formats, so I have to go via the cube.
Can someone help on how to forward the dolby signal properly from Amazon Cube to the soundbar?
Thanks so much!!
Besides the settings in Kodi, did you select 'passthrough' in the fireTV audio settings?
Then there is maybe one or two settings related to passthrough on your TVset.
The fireOS version could be an issue too, maybe do a lookup together with the fireOS version number...

Thanks! Yes I did. I also noticed that there is a diagnostics function in the fireTV settings (https://www.amazon.de/gp/help/customer/display.html?language=en_GB&nodeId=G7AGVQCJXEERZJQ8) - and it shows that there is no Dolby device being recognized.
I'll check with the TV set, that's a good idea.
fireOS version is the most current.
There are some hidden settings in kodi, i.e. expert mode, maybe play a bit with the settings.
This here worked for kodi on the 4k stick, but maybe the cube works similar:

Fire TV Cube 3rd gen Dolby Atmos passthough com0pletely broken using Maven's Kodi-Builds

Basically subjects says it all.
I just bought a Cube 3rd ed. but using Maven builds with my C9 TV and passthough enabled I experience continue desync and crashes. Basically unusable (I sadly went back to my 4k Max).
Everything works perfect on my 4k and 4k Max.
Am I doing anything wrong (completely newbie with HD audio)?
Thanks.
Pino.
I remember seeing that you have to switch FireOS sound settings from best available to DD+, to get DD+ and DD to work in Kodi. It's definitely inconvenient.

Thanks a lot,
I tried all the available options but audio stull stutters and crashes.
As it is now any DA content is unwatchable.
Very disappointing.
Thanks God I still have my 4K Max but it bothers me I spent all that money to have a paperweight.
Well I guess I'll wait.

Just an FYI if you are using the FireTV build: not specific to the 3rd gen. Cube, but Maven has the "FireTV" build & the "Android 32-bit" build, and from my reading of the Kodinerds forum it seemed like it was best to use the Android build with FireTV devices starting back sometime last year, that the Android builds had all the fixes and the FireTV build was basically the same as Kodi nightly builds.
Are you good with using ADB? Can you report the printed output for these 2 ADB shell commands:
settings get global encoded_surround_output
settings get global encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats
I don't have the 3rd gen. Cube, only have the 2nd gen., but if the main Settings stay the same, then:
encoded_surround_output=0 , if using BEST_AVAILABLE sound setting option
encoded_surround_output=1 , if using PCM sound setting option
encoded_surround_output=2, if using DOLBY_DIGITAL_PLUS sound setting option
And I can take a guess that the second command "encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats" will return <null>. So input this:
settings put global encoded_surround_output_enabled_formats "5,6,7,8,13,14,17,18,19"
This ENCODED_SURROUND setting is what lets Kodi query what Android's java coding can passthrough for audio, the different numbers being the most common SurroundSound audio codecs; for example "18" & "19" are for DolbyAtmos lossy & lossless, and "14" is for TrueHD.

Thanks a lot,
The "FireTV" build is exactly the one I'm using on all my devices right now. The kodinerds Maven thread grew too big and is mostly in german to read all the updates so I didnt know that.
As soon as I return home I'll test the Android build and report.
Thanks again for this precious advice.

I tried the "Android build". And basically looks like all the Dolby Atmos settings are missing.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'll retry tomorrow.

Kodi Settings on EXPERT mode? With Passthrough on in Kodi you should be able to turn on all the options for passthrough ON, DolbyDigital_PLUS and Dolby_TrueHD being the two that need to be on for DolbyATMOS lossy and lossless formats to be available for passthrough. If TrueHD is still not showing maybe have to toggle between the two Passthrough-Output-Device options AudioTrack(IEC) or AudioTrack(RAW).
Sidenote, my primary TV has a buggy ARC/CEC implementation and sometimes I have to flip CEC on-and-off to allow Atmos passthrough, which even though my Cube is connected directly to my AVR it will stop some apps from streaming Atmos.

Yeah, I'm officially an idiot. I restored a backup from my 4k Max but it usually doesnt restore expert mode and I totally forgot to do that on my own. BTW I tested using expert mode and enabling the same exact options I have on my working 4k Max but still stutters and crashes, also switchng IEC mode.
Not sure about the CEC options. Point is I've never had any issues on the same TV with the same exacts settings on my 4K and 4k Max so I guess it's a Cube issue (or again some nonsense I'm still doing).
Thanks again for advices
Pino.
